custom rom running spb mobile shell - Motorola Droid 3

wondering what's the best rom for my droid 3 if I'm using spb mobile shell? I never done a custom rom before but I've heard they get rid of unnecessary apps and run faster. is there a rom with just the basics nothing fancy?

Right now all our roms are based of the Droid 3 stock software (due to a locked bootloader). Hashcode is working on a special system/method that will let us use full roms . As a result rom development has kind of paused until he is finished. I recommend any 2.3 based rom except Liberty's. He hasn't updated his rom in about 8 months. Team Haters, Maverick and Steel Droid are the most current ginger based roms at the moment.

Unfortunately it's running on the old 890 and it has caused problems for some.

Use Maverick. Its the most stable rom i have ever used. People say eclipse is fast but i had bugs every once in awhile with eclipse, while not major at all, i never had a bug with maverick. Also the dev keeps it updated with the latest updates.

I'm running mavROM v4.5 with TSF shell and it works great

I second the MavRom recommendation especially as a stock blur replacement. I'm running Mavrom in my /systemorig partition as a daily rom, which leaves the safe partition avalable to test the more bleeding edge stuff like kexec CM9

Thanks for the advice, I found the mavrom download but couldn't find hashcode's safestrap v1.06, but I found v2.01, can I use this or not?

Liberty3 2.0 allows you to remove the Blur launcher and use an AOSP one in its place. For the battery life especially, Liberty3 was my favorite GB ROM before I went to ICS.

I agree with pgzerwer, ROMs are much easier to find and navigate over at Droid Forums.

This same feature is in mavrom. Mavrom has continued support. Liberty does not. Just trying to help you make a decision.

Nice! Didn't know that! I wished Liberty still had support when I used it. I'd suggest Mav now that I have this knowledge, unless max battery life is worth trading support...even though Liberty seems pretty decent as it sits.

Back to gb

Hi, I am on an ICS rom and it's too problematic. I want to get back to a GB rom. Any recommendations for a fully functional one?

The developer has tweeted that an update to Eclipse based on the .904 leak is in the works and ready for testing
for now I would run the .902 eclipse
Eclipse most def.

I've been using Liberty for a while. I tried some of the Gummy releases as they are more or less the same thing but ICS, but the stability wasn't there yet. I just restored my Safestrap backup of Liberty I took before installing Gummy, though.
I went from AOKP to stock .902 GB.... Now im updating to .904 and trying gummy cherry
I'm running the .904 build if eclipse and its really awesome so far. only problem is the volume buttons don't work but that is remedied by a using an volume control program like https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=rubberbigpepper.VolumeControl. but other than that its the best GB ROM there is in my opinion.
Edit... someone posted a fix for the volume buttons in page 6 of the eclipse forum. eclipserom.com/vforum/showthread.php?1612-ROM-Eclipse-Bionic-Build-01-4-26-12 i'm sure nitro will update the ROM soon with the fix.

Which ICS ROM does not lag?

Hey guys.
I am using an ICS rom at the moment. I am currently on the NOVA HD Rebuild v1.1.0 and the kernel I am using is 3.0.33-NovaKernel-ICS-1.0.7.
The problem with this ROM is that it is extremely laggy. Is that a problem with all ICS roms and should I just go back to Gingerbread or is there another ROM which is not as laggy. I would like to use ICS on my phone for daily use without it being sluggish or slow. Thanks.
Paranoid is the best ICS Rom since 5 days I passed from cm7 to it and I love it. So stable 0 bsod and no lag
Perfect rom

I use NOVA rebuild before, everything is OK except hapetic in game is not good as CM7. I think driver is not full support, alway have problems.

Game is OK ?
I'm using Paranoid with the stock kernel too, very nice.
Not sure if you've made the distinction between the actual rom or just the launcher which seems laggy.
I'm using LG UI 3.0 on Paranoid and for the moment there doesn't seem to be anything else that beats it in my opinion.
miui v4 2.6.1 by bihariel fast and customizable, I use it for two months. No lag, except that sometimes the camera is FC but this' common to all ics try.
MIUI v4 2.6.1 by Bihariel
kernel NOVA EDITION PURE beta1
Paranoid, i also suggest this, i use NOVA before and it was to laggy and cannot multi tasking at all,
Tried paranoid and now i will still stay with it.
(Build 5 coming soon, with some jelly bean theme temporary, hope the dev can morp in the CM10 soon)

Just follow the instructions (you'll need root explorer: linked)
sorry for the late reply.
I have indeed started using the Paranoid ROM and it is not laggy at all, maybe a little unresponsive but overall it is fine. Better than NOVA. What kernel are you guys using? I guess I want one which supports voodoo (I am not sure if voodoo has support for it in ICS).
In my opinion they all lag, especially when opening the drawer.
Paranoidandroid was the smoothest from the one I've tested and it's lag is so subtle from time to time, that it does not bother me.
So from all I've tried now Paranoid build 5, stock kernel and Ram manager or advanced task killer is totally good to go for daily use.
Had only one hot reboot since I'm using it.
I am using paranoid build 5. In my opinion its the best among all ICS ROMS.No lag No unexpected shutdowns.Im loving it here is the thread.

Request customization tool

Was wondering if there were any easy to install tweaks for the xperia T jellybean os, that I can flash with cwm
That would allow me to customize many appearence features on statusbar, and threw out the phone? Would need something that will work on a locked bootloader! Maybe even recomendations on a feature packed custom ROM that uses a stock kernal? Thanks.
Sent from my LT30p using xda app-developers app
No
There are no tweak packs, there is a slight custom ROM, stock based so works on locked bootloaders, XperimenT, its in the android development section, its ICS based, a JB version is being worked on
Thanks! Im using Xperiment beta 2. I love how fast the phone runs, and how good my battery is! I just dont see anything different other than the boot screen . Maybe because its a beta?

Yeah it's because it's a beta and the dev wants to get it stable before he adds customizations, also they don't work from ICS so new ways are needed to get it working. Patience

Fair enough! I might flash the xperimenT ics stable then, quick question tho.. Can I not keep the jb xperimenT backup on my phone, and then swap roms as needed via cwm restore? Would be fairly cool. On the same note, minus the odd crash here and there, the experimenT jb beta is just incredible performance wise.

You may have issues as to swap versions, JB and ICS, a lot of the time you need format sd card, you'll also need to make sure the correct kernel is in place and that you flash the correct cwm+reboot fix, so it is a pain bit doable

[Q] Anyone Has Any Good Recovery & Rom Recommendations ?

I'm kind of stuck on which ROM I should try to flash because most of the ROMs I flash on my always get stuck on the boot animation , I'm not sure if its because I used to use SafeStrap Recovery. Any help though, it would be greatly apricated.
Your supposed to have a unlocked bootloader when installing anyone of these new Roms . use myth tools to unlock your bootloader.

The new touch cwm works real good and I run PACMAN.
Sent from my PACMAN MATRIX HD MAXX
My current favourite is HoloBlur with PurePerformance. The battery life is quite good, it's fast, and stable.
I run CWM touch recovery.
For ROMs: HoloBlur X (PurePerformance) is a beatiful stock based ROM to get your feet wet.
CM 10.2 and BeanStalk 4.3 are the 2 best custom ROMs I have ever had the pleasure of using. Carbon is great but the battery life just isn't up to par with BeanStalk or CM for me, plus since Carbon jumped ship to 4.3, a lot of features don't work like Trebuchet settings and PIE. PACman 4.3 is awesome but I would wait for a new nightly from Skeevy that reports better battery. As it is now, it is too laggy and unstable to use everyday (for me at least). Don't even mess with Uxylon or SLIM, play store and mobile data are broken on those.
If you don't mind freezes/crashes once in a while, you could run CM10.2 nightlies and automatically update them using Cyandelta. If you want to go CM nightlies, use CWM 3.0.3.4 (in the last 2-3 pages of the 3.0.3.2 thread) but if you're going to use PAC or Holoblur, you can use CWM 3.0.3.6 touch.

Yeah, the RAZR TWRP has messed up touch points, and CWM touch works fine, unless you're on the official CM nightlies and updating with Cyandelta like me.
I still don't know what the hell cyan delta is lol.
