SuperSU isn't working properly after worked before. Had trouble installing CWM, got it working. Tried to give file explorer root status, worked, but SU kept confirming the last operation by popup message. Now SuperSU fails when trying to "update the binary".
Tried uninstall cleaning from app and reinstall.
What can I do?

Hmm, probl still applies after re-root attempt. SuperSU gives popup confirmations, but there is no real root acces. Both manual terminal emulator su command and root check app are negative.
Appreciate any suggestions.
LQ3, cwm in recovery is ok, as app cwm won't open, confirmed brick bug, followed latest instructions and used latest versions.

If you can't update the SuperSU binary it probably is because you have no room in your /system partition. To solve you'll need to delete a few system apps using TitaniumBackup (or similar).
A bit hard, since titanium also wants root access, which it has, but doesn't get! :-$

Checked now: the device memory has 0.93 GB free, USBStorage has 5.84 GB available and SD card has 17.47 available. Is your suggestion that there is no room in the /system partition then possible?
PROBLEM "update the binary".Superuser comes pre-installed on any rooted ROM. In fact, without it, you don’t have a rooted device at all. You cannot uninstall it, it lives on the system partition with other apps that came pre-installed on your device. It can be updated from the Market if the developer of your particular ROM has used a version that is signed with the proper keys, which are publicly available on github.
Installing Superuser isn’t somethng you would need to do under normal circumstances, but just in case here are the files needed:. Now download the package of the binaries... .

I started with stock ICS ROM (LQ3) flashed via Odin on PC, and used this thread to root and install CWM. I' afraid to attempt your solution, because I know too little about this issue. I want root just because I can, and I want to learn how android works, thinking of becoming a developer... Thanks for your input, though, be glad if u would elaborate/explain...

In his guide, Chainfire explained that doing so would mess things up... I think I have to wait and see if Chainfire picks up on this issue of mine... I think he is on vacation right now, so I probably have to wait a few weeks I'm not going to rush into anything here with the brick bug and all....
Well I wish you would have posted whatever did resolve the issue (if it was fixed). Because I'm having the same problem now with Super SU on Verizon Galaxy S3.
So I flashed a "superuser" and even that is doing the same thing. It never gives privileges.
Ugh.

SuperSU update issues
Jesus, after watching the n00b-video, I felt somewhat terrified of even posting, but here goes; I´m using an HTC One, European carrier, just bought it. Rooted, and now I have some weird issues with superSU.
The binary (?) update doesn´t work, and sometimes the phone goes out of root. This is often resolved by rebooting. I´ve tried a dozen forum posts, not just on this site, and I´ll be posting in the big superSu-thread also. My question is: WHAT DO I DO?? I´m not a total noob, just new to android and all this stuff. Plz help!

1) Flash the phone with the stock ULYFR_U4_1.2.6 SBF file
2) Obtain root and sideloading via aRoot
3) Update phone with the OTA OLYFR_U4_1.5.7
Once OLYFR_U4_1.5.7 is installed, you will NOT be rooted, but you will have sideloading. This should suffice for some users until root is achieved.
I personally think the OLYFR_U4_1.5.7 is worth losing root for a bit. In my own experience, the update has smoothed out the Atrix noticeably. Only time will tell.
If this helps anyone, please let me know.

My question is will the update still be there today if we flash back to 1.2.6 and reroot with aroot to get the update because I'd hate to not be able to get the update again. Like you stated, it seems to be more stable as well running a lot smoother.

I flashed back to 1.2.6 after upgrading and don't get it anymore (not even through "System updates" through Settings). So idk, wait til someone's able to extract it out of the update.zip or something I guess.
EDIT: Nvm, just tried it again and got the message (through Settings)
I got it a few times. Haven't needed to try again.

This is entirely unnecessary, as you can just install apps through adb still on 1.5.7.
Just run:
Code:
adb.exe install <package>.apk
Where <package> is the name of the app you want to install. Reflashing back to stock to install the apps is a waste of time.
You are absolutely right, if someone wants to use ADB.
Sideloading independent of a computer is important to me personally.

Not sure if you would receive the update via OTA with that. If you were to flash that SBF followed by aRoot, would you receive the update? If you can confirm anyone receiving the update on 1.5.2, then you SHOULD be golden.

Wrote a simple BAT file to automate to process a little...
Basically...
1) Extract the files to a directory and put the apk(s) that you wish to install/sideload in that same directory.
2) Connect your device and make sure usb debugging is enabled and all usb drivers are installed.
3) Drap and drop an APK file onto the BAT file, and it should install sucessfully onto your device. Command window will return "Sucess" if all goes well.
This is a really simple BAT file, i'm not all that great at coding or writing bat files, but I hope this helps some people. The devs might be able to write a better script. Hopefully someone will crack this update soon and figure out how to root!
Right on man! This will be great for folks when they are installing .apk files through ADB.

Hi,
I'm French, and i bought my phone in England (i lived there for few month)
I have a Barclays Bank Account, and i want to use their App on my phone BUT Google Play answer "This Item Can Not Be Installed On Your Device Country"
I know i can use Market Unlocker, but i don't want to ROOT my phone
Can someone who have a Google UK Phone give me the .APK from Google Play ?
You can use the app "App Backup & Restore" to do it !
Thanks a lot :good:

Edit: if archers zip does not work, try my apk
Installation procedure is in archers post.
I installed it but it's a zip not an apk. I've found it to be hit & miss as to whether you can side-install zips. Some work, some don't. Copy it into /data/apps - might need a reboot.

It doesn't show up in that app, probably because it's a zip not an apk.
Looks like you're stuck with rooting and using Market Enabler. Any reason you don't want to do that? You could unroot immediately after.
Because i just need the .apk and that so easy to have it with application
So if you can give me the .APK it will be okay and i will not need to root / unroot my phone

It isn't an apk, so it doesn't matter what app I use. I did try the app, just so I can say "yes, I tried it", despite knowing it would not work. Even renaming the zip to an apk file doesn't work, which is another hit-and-miss method to get zip files to install.
If you really don't want to root your phone then you may need to forget about having this app.
Stupid question: Can't you just change the exstension to .apk? Wouldn't that work?

All that application does is copy the apk file from /data/apps or /system/apps. If there is no apk file then it won't work. I've come across a few apps that when installed from google play are installed as zip files, but you can't install them on any other device. Rooting or forgetting about it are your two options.
There might well be a second problem anyway. Even if you do, somehow, manage to get the .apk file in original format and install it on your device, you may well find that Barclays block your access based on location. If that is the case then rooting would be your only option anyway.
I don't understand - you've been a member on this site for 4 years, this is the first time you have felt the need to post anything and you are too scared to root your phone! Why are you on a phone developers site?

I did charge it to full, but there are many varying schools of thought on that subject. Typically I charge to full then run to 0 and charge to full a few cycles. I have my phone in my dock right now, but the cord to the dock unplugged so it isn't charging.
Not trying to be a kill joy by any means but people Chainfire is a pretty smart dude and has created a lot of things. Not saying that this wont work on Sprint variant but make sure you see his disclaimer.
NOTE:
Some have reported success on Sprint S4's, though I still advise against using it and waiting for a Sprint specific version.

At this point, it's a use and test function of root required applications..
We have had a report of an application not functioning properly on Motochopper where CF's Autoroot works just fine.
Use and report is the best response to your question.
I've tried every root app I could think of and so far no issues with the CF method. Of course YMMV.

How do, I do that. I a noob with adb. I have it on my pc but it was used only as a test to see if I get it to recognize my tablets and phone. The only way I have installed CWM was generally by going into apx mode (similar to fastboot I think)and using a win.bat file. I could then watch on the tablet as every thing was installed.
Now that it's rooted could I use Rom Manager the only thing being I do not know which device to tell it I am installing CWM on.
BTW, i have install busybox. I used the busybox from my Asus TF700 which has the exact same tegra cpu and gpu, not sure how important that info is.

I used it yesterday and it installed superuser and I had to install busybox. I used dropbox to put jrummy's busybox installer apk on Ouya and then installed busybox. You will see a limited Rom Manager after install and it reminded me that you can use Rom Manager to flash CWM recovery but you need to know which device you are installing it on and Ouya is not listed as a compatible device. However, it does have Asus Transformer Infinity which I have owned for 8 months so I know a little about it. The Asus uses the same Nvidia T33 cpu and mali 400 gpu as Ouya. So I suppose some adventurous more knowledgeable person than me can try selecting the Asus Transformer Infinity when using Rom Manager and see if it will install CWM recovery. If someone does try please post back with the results.
Works like a charm. Used this to root my Ouya today. Afterwards installed busybox, and used the xposed mod for the play store. My Ouya is getting better and better bit by bit.
Thank you!

Question & Answer
"Root de la Vega" What kind of name is that?
It's named after Ralph de la Vega, CEO of AT&T Mobility.
Can you help me with the drivers?
No, but you can head over here for help with drivers.
How do I get into download mode?
Method 1: adb reboot download
Method 2: Pull the battery out, unplug the usb cable, reinsert the battery. Hold Volume Down + Home + Power. Follow the instructions on the screen.
How was this root method accomplished?
By hex editing the system image to call a script on the sdcard as root.
Will rooting or downgrading or flashing stock trip the Knox flags?
No, KNOX flags will not be tripped!
Will root survive a factory reset?
Yes, it does.
Do I need have to fully wipe my phone when rooting?
Yes. If you don't you will get lots of nasty force closes. I have yet to find a way around it.
Does Xposed Framework work on a rooted Note 3?
Yes, it has been updated to work fully with the Note 3.
Will rooting report system as custom and display an unlocked lock on the initial boot screen?
Yes. It can be removed by installing Xposed Framework with Wanam Xposed and enabling Security hacks > Fake system status.
Titanium Backup is giving me problems, how can I fix it?
Check out this thread. If you are still having issues, please take your concerns to the dev, they are not related to rooting.
How do I open a 7z file?
With 7zip!
Can I do this on OS X/Linux?
No, not until heimdall is updated to support the Note 3.
Can I unroot?
Yes, use SuperSU full unroot option or flash stock.
How do I flash stock?
Check out this thread.
I am getting a "Prevention Information" popup after running a root app, how do I disable it?
From terminal emulator or adb shell as root, run; pm disable com.sec.knox.seandroid
Or freeze the Knox apps with Titanium Backup.
Downloading now. Thanks for all your hard work
Thanks for the efforts
