Welcome to x91WGx's Gigglebread Edition!
Disclaimer:
Code:
Please note that this ROM is based on an UNOFFICIAL CyanogenMod7 build, named Gigglebread.
It contains cherry picks and fixes by non-CM7 devs.
I decided to make this ROM as it was suggested to me that Gigglebread appears to be better than the official CyanogenMod7.
I do not agree nor disagree on this, but I did get motivated enough to make this ROM.
Once again:
If you are looking for my x91WGx's Gingerbread Edition ROM v3.1.2, then you are wrong here. Please go here.
As I was saying..
This ROM is based on the unofficial CyanogenMod7 build Gigglebread.
It has the same features as my Gingerbread Edition, but is based on a different build.
I just posted it here for the people that prefer Gigglebread over the official CyanogenMod7, but like my (so far not that many) modifications to the ROM.
The ROM currently holds:
- Latest VorkKernel by Benee & Kiljacken
- Libsqlite.so patch by Benee
- Quicker GPS fix in Europe
- Updated BusyBox (1.19)
- Customized framework (icons, battery percentage, notifications tab)
- The following apps:
Terminal Emulator, Browser, Calculator,
Calendar, Camera, Contacts, Desk Clock,
Email, File Manager, Gallery 3D,
Google Sync, Gingerbread Keyboard,
ADW Launcher, MIUI Music, MMS,
Pimp My CPU 2.7, Rom Manager,
Sound Recorder, Spare Parts,
SuperUser, Market, VoiceDialer,
Google Talk, Volume+.
Installation instructions:
0. Boot into recovery
1. Wipe Data/Factory Reset when coming from stock/another custom ROM! not needed when coming from an earlier version of this ROM
2. Install zip from SDcard >> Choose zip from SDcard >> select the ROM.zip file
3. Let it install, when done, reboot!
Changelog:
v4.0:
- Based on Gigglebread 310511-2041
v3.1:
- Updated VorkKernel to 310511
v3.0:
- Based on Gigglebread 300511-1348
v2.0:
- Based on Gigglebread 280511-1436
v1.5:
- Initial release, based on Gigglebread 240511-1542
- VorkKernel 240511 by Benee & Kiljacken
- Libsqlite.so patch by Benee
- Quicker GPS fix in Europe
- Updated BusyBox (1.19)
- Customized framework (icons, battery percentage, notifications tab)
Many Thanks. Keep it up

Diana kernel ? does it compatible with CM7?
Diana kernel is for stock-based ROMs.
Huexxx's kernel is for CM7/MIUI.
Only a thinking... Why to include my kernel here if you can download it from my post and install it? Which version of huexxx's kernel have you included here? Maybe you could insert the link to my post at huexxx's kernel mention to allow people to see the features...

You are all mistaken in thinking camera "app" alone is the source of quality captures. Drivers, xml's and files coexist in working together. An example... media_profiles.xml.

The latest version of gapps (gapps-jb-20130301-signed.zip) on the official Google download page (http://goo.im/gapps/) for JellyBean is version 4.2.2-573038.
This thread is a work in progress in an attempt to keep an updated version of gapps available for Galaxy Tab 2 users. Currently, the official gapps package (20130301) is up-to-date with Jelly Bean, but I have still released an updated package with my modifications. See changelog in text files below for details.
History:
* Attached is gapps for JB (4.1.2-485486) extracted from stock Galaxy Nexus I9250 ROM (JZO54K).
* Attached is gapps for JB (4.2.2-573038) extracted from stock Galaxy Nexus I9250 ROM (JDQ39).
Note: The Galaxy Tab 2 and the Galaxy Nexus both share the same processor (OMAP4) from Texas Instruments. Therefore, because their chipsets are the same, gapps extracted from Galaxy Nexus firmwares are also optimized for the Galaxy Tab 2.
These files have been tested working on CM10 and CM10.1 (depending on the version of gapps). The version of the gapps must match the version of the Android operating system. For example, gapps 4.2.2 only works with Android 4.2.2.
Note: These new gapps packages also contain the latest versions of FaceLock, Gmail, and Google Talk.
*** Attached below are also clockworkmod flash-able zip files for DPI 160 modified Google Play and GoogleServicesFramework. If you want to change the Galaxy Tab 2 into "Tablet" user interface, then the /system/build.prop must be changed to a DPI of 133 or less. Unfortunately, these changes will break the Google Play market compatibility because the market does not know your device when you change the DPI properties. Therefore, a DPI of 160 has been now hard-coded into these two applications which allows you to change build.prop to anything you want without affecting the compatibility of the market. The version of the Android Market that has been included in these DPI modified flashable zip files is 3.4.7. I have chosen this version (3.4.7) because it is the last version that still has full compatibility with Ti Backup and it is also the last version of Google Play with a "sane" version of the applications list. IMHO.
The version of Google Play (Phonesky.apk) in the DPI 160 zips can also be updated with any of the "DPI 160" patched market files from this post (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1580827) and you can keep the same version of GSF that I have just posted.
** All zip files are flash-able via ClockWorkMod

The ICS versions work with any 4.0.4 ROM like cyanogen 9.
I have just added gapps-jb-4.1.1-398337-signed.zip (optimized for OMAP processors) for JellyBean to the first post. These files were extracted from the new OTA Galaxy Nexus JellyBean update (JRO03C). I figured that the Galaxy Tab 2 and the Galaxy Nexus should work the same because they both share the same processor and I did not want to wait for google to release a new gapps package. Notice that gapps-jb-20120726-signed (from the official gapps download page) is actually 4.1-392829. The gapps package that I have just uploaded is 4.1.1. This gapps package includes updated versions of Google Talk, Gmail, and FaceLock as well.
This is tested working on CM10.
Note: This gapps package (4.1.1-398337) should work with any device using an OMAP processor (p51xx and p31xx) and running Android 4.1.1 (jellybean).
I have re-uploaded gapps-jb-4.1.1-398337-signed because I had accidentally left out a file in the package. The calendar sync was not working. This is now fixed and a new link has been added to the first post.

Actually, there is a slightly newer version of Calendar Sync that I just found in one of the other packages I made. I could substitute 4.0.3 for 4.0.4-390215 (from my ICS gapps). Although, I still can not find a Calendar Sync for 4.1.

Upgrade procedure: Flash with clockworkmod. No data wipes necessary.

You do not need to wipe if you are already on CM10 and you have flashed the official gapps. You can install these gapps on top of the official gapps without having to wipe anything.
thanks for this!
I have just added clockworkmod flash-able zip files for DPI 160 modified Google Play and GoogleServicesFramework. If you want to change the Galaxy Tab 2 into "Tablet" user interface, then the /system/build.prop must be changed to a DPI of 133 or less. Therefore, a DPI of 160 has been now hard-coded into these two applications which allows you to change build.prop to anything you want without affecting the compatibility of the market. I have created two files, one for the latest 20120726 official Google Apps, and also one for the 4.1.1-398337 Gapps that I have included in this post. The version of the Android Market that has been included in these flashable zip files is 3.4.7. I have chosen this version (3.4.7) because it is the last version that still has full compatibility with Ti Backup and it is also the last version of Google Play with a "sane" version of the applications list. IMHO.
But, you can update the Market with any of the "DPI 160" patched market files from this post (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1580827) and keep the same version of GSF that I have just posted.
Been having a issue restoring my settings after flashing gapps, When I look into backup & reset 'backup my data' and 'automatic restore' is checked. Under 'backup account' it shows no account is currently storing backup data, not sure if that has anything to do with it.
Running CM9 final, everytime I flash a new rom then gapps after all my previous settings are lost.

GoogleBackupTransport is the file that would affect backing up your data. Your settings should not be lost by just flashing gapps again during an upgrade of the same version ROM (for example, flashing a new nightly build over the last one). Actually, you do not have to keep flashing gapps after every installation because they are backed up with Cyanogenmod's scripts. Which version of gapps are you using? Does this problem occur if you use GoogleBackupTransport.apk from the official gapps?
Note that the DPI 160 patched zips with a modified GSF and Google Play are for CM 10 only.

Using gapps ics 4.0.4-390215, Will try flashing the official gapps and see if I encounter this issue.
I made this rom for myself at the beginning but judging from the very low number of custom roms for P6810 I thought I might as well share it.
This rom is based on the CM9 by Locerra (huge kudos to Locerra for his great work).
I modified it to make it look and (somewhat) feel like JB, hope this helps you wait till Locerra's CM10 is at a daily driver stage. EDIT : it now is quite a daily-driver
List of Changes
- Added Jelly Bean Boot animation from the Nexus 7
- Added Jelly Bean Animations
- Added Jelly Bean Fonts
- Added Google Now & Google Now Voice Search
- Added Jelly Bean Lockscreen
- Added Google Ears (JB music recognition widget)
- Added Jelly Bean Wallpapers in Trebuchet (in "wallpapers" in the wallpaper picker)
- Changed Default wallpaper to the most famous JB wallpaper
- Added Jelly Bean Apps (Google Music, Magazines, Books, Gallery, FaceUnlock, Video editor...)
- Added Jelly Bean Apollo Theme
- Added Beats-Audio modified DSP Manager
- Included latest ICS gapps
- Included latest Solid Explorer, Flipboard, Maps & Street View, Chrome, maybe other apps...
- Added a lot of build.prop tweaks
- Included the wifi-hotfix provided in Locerra's thread
- Zipaligned
Known Issues
- The bootanimation might be buggy, don't worry if the animation is stuck, the tab is still booting.
- Same as Locerra's CM9
- Default wallpaper might be cut at first boot but changing to another and then back will fix it
- Report if you find another
Disclaimer
I am not responsible for any kind of damage made to your device while flashing this rom, flash this at your very own risk.
Always make sure you have a nandroid backup before flashing. Do not flash this rom on a P6800 (3G version), only P6810 !
Be very careful with the Galaxy Tab 7.7, never format /system in CWM mounts & storages, our tab suffers from Super Brick MMC_CAP_ERASE bug.
(Writing a guide on how to revive a Superbricked galaxy tab 7.7, will publish in a few days...This bug really is a P.I.T.A...).
How to Install
If coming from another rom than CM9, i would recommend to wipe /data.
If you come from Locerra's build then just :
¤ Wipe cache
¤ Wipe dalvik
¤ Flash the rom from CWM
¤ Reboot
Do not flash the gapps they are already included.

Please feel free to make mirrors

Couldn't manage to unpack any galaxy tab 7.7 kernel using the usual perl scripts etc...
This is because samsung uses ramdisks without a header, or with a 512b header in the middle (this causes the "Android magic not found" error).
(yeah i know, header +in the middle = contradictory^^). I tried asking to Ezy as he is the creator of the only custom kernel for P68XX that i know, but he did not answer
Only way i found is to compile kernel from source (you can get the sources at opensource.samsung.com) but i didn't look into it already.
I am interested in this too, if you find something useful, please let us know.
Can someone put the file somewhere else please?
I keep getting errors on the other download!

I've currently hacked the Cyanogenmod build system to recompile the source when updating the initramfs, but I would much rather use the standard repackaging tools if possible.

Yeah Samsung would make our lives easier if they would do like others do...
Really glad to hear you found a workaround for that issue.
Do you think you could make a version of your regular CM9 or CM10 kernel just removing the damn MMC_CAP_ERASE for P6810 ?
My Tab had the superbrick bug and now everytime I wanna flash a ROM or test one of my builds I have to spend 15+ minutes on e2fsck and parted to be able to flash and boot it properly because it re-bricks everytime...
Anyway thanks for all the awesome work you did and keep doing for the 7.7 community:good:
Installed fine over CM9, had to manually re-install Chrome but other than that its working nicely.
Cannot figure out how to get google Now up - but other than that it looks ok.

Thanks for the feedback. Just use the google searchbox that is on home screens to bring up google now.
You can also simply use the "google" app in your app drawer. For the voice you'll have to use the "Voice search for google now" app.
Just click the quicksearchbox mic and select this app as default.

Thanks a lot for that.
Bad news for me though, I thought this would fix the issue, but that means it only takes one mmc_cap_erase for it to corrupt your partitions everytime you wipe something, even if it's disbled in the kernel you run next

of course we will update this rom, but I will work alongside gokussjx.
I have no intenet quick to configure a PC to build, (and it is not necessary, gokuxxjx is doing a fine job).
I promise to update this when we have a PA-2:52
and thanks!!

give me the link of your rom, is not difficult, the two are xhdpi, and if your rom is compiled on the basis cyanogem, this theme can be easily ported to your rom ...: Bom:

personally i think this mod is better as an Add-ons package, not a whole rom
you know, there are so many roms here available for S3
and at this time 2 PA roms, one by @gokussjx as an Original Development's rom and another one by @DaXmax here in this forum
actually users [like me] love your mod but also they're happy with stock PA
so, i suggest you, make these nice things as an separate Add-ons package in Theme and App forum
thanks mate

Agreed, I love the orange color, and the status bar icons do not become crazy when switching to tablet mod ^^
Thanks

I tried, but many apps are themed, many libs, permissions in "etc / permissions" kernel. That would give me more work with other types of problems, and questions like "can I install this in ICS?, this works on stock rom?, problems like not cleaning cache before, and others that probably do not have to do with it ..: Bom:
thanks, I'll try: Bom:
I will read more about vrtheme, or aroma, (I had already done with roms instaler aroma is really cool, and also gives to "packages" ...
