Hi all,
I’ve taken a lot from this forum recently, and now I would like to give a little something back...
I’m no developer, but I’ve been playing with the boot animation and I’ve finally worked out how to make my own. So I’d like to share my first attempt with you all and welcome your comments.
Requirements - rooted phone, a root file explorer with write permission.
Download your desired bootanimation.zip and save it on your phone SD card where you can find it again.
Use your favourite root explorer to copy and paste it over your current bootanimation.zip (my location for this is at /data/local in phone storage, not SD card).
The next time you reboot your device, you should see it after the initial Splash Screen!
If you want to make your own boot animation but don’t know how to, then I used the guide as found HERE.
But please note, for the Incredible S you should set the resolution to 480 x 800 in the .txt file, and save the images as 480 x 800, 24 bit, .png.
Here's my first bootanimation.zip, it is ARHD ROM themed, I hope you like it:

My third bootanimation is JellyBean themed.
Downloads (two versions available) and preview screen-shot in post #9.

Download and screen-shots can be found HERE on their official thread.
Blue Clouds Bootanimation & Splash Screen
Here is a new animation for you, a simple blue/black clouds 'Incredible S' animation. Animated preview and download link in post #11.
Please Note: The cooldroid revolution bootanimation by phonetech101 in post #7 below is no longer available, he's moved the file and the link is no longer good.
Thanks for looking!
nniicckkss
PS: There doesn’t seem to be a thread in the Incredible S ‘Themes & Apps’ forum to ‘Share your Boot Animations’, just a couple of independent ones on a specific topic.
If you want to post your own designed or 'borrowed' boot animations in this thread, I don’t mind at all (I would advise to credit others if it's not yours). All will be in one place, and easy to find again. I won’t see it as hijacking my thread!
.
Here's another Boot Animation for you, based around the standard HTC one.
I've added 'dropping in' letters at the start, and the droid on a skateboard afterwards.
This isn't ROM specific, it's in a generic HTC style.
I hope you like it!
Here's a couple of shots of the boot-up:
The bootanimation.zip file is attached to this post. See post number 1 (above) for what to do with it.
Comments welcome...
Cheers,
nniicckkss
(I'm not taking credit for creating the graphics in this, I just put them together in the animation to share with everyone.)

I can't tell on my mobile, I'll need to take a look on my laptop, but initially after unzipping your .zip file (original size 5mb), I noticed each image was >1mb each, so something doesn't add up.
Did you compress the .zip or zip as 'store only'?

You can't compress the .zip, it won't work...
I used winrar and saved it as a store only .zip.
The .zip size is something you'll have to live with when you start using fancy graphics in each frame.
My first one is >11mb, but my second one which has more frames is just a fraction of the size due to less complexed graphics.
Regarding a program, I don't know, sorry.
But I don't think you need it, you just need to sort out your .zip method.

JellyBean Themed Boot Animation (480 x 800)
Hi all,
JellyBean here, JellyBean there - here's a JellyBean boot animation I'd like to share!
Download link - fast version (approx. 17.5 MB): http://db.tt/njbYmy9k
Download link - slow version (approx. 13 MB): http://db.tt/E31MzY3R
(I like the slow version best)
Don't unzip it or flash it, just save it over your existing boot animation using your favourite root explorer app.
Enjoy!
Here's a preview screen-shot (click to enlarge):
Feedback always welcome.
(Please thank me if you use it, I'd like to see if I its worth me spending time on these in future!!)
This is what im waiting for......thanks....
Blue Clouds Bootanimation & Splash Screen
I made this for me, thought I'd share it with you all as I quite like it:
Bootanimation
Looks like this:
Download the attached bootanimation.zip, don't unzip it. Install as previously mentioned in this thread (change zip filename if you need to, ROM depending).
Splash Screen (the still image before the bootanimation)
Looks Like this, matches the above bootanimation:
For S-OFF only.
And you must unzip this one first, get the 'splash1.img' file from the attached .zip and place it in your adb/fastboot tools folder on your PC.
Then go to CMD prompt on your PC and set your CD to the tools folder.
Set your phone in USB bootloader mode, then type in "fastboot flash splash1 splash1.img" to flash it to your phone.
Job done - reboot to see it appear before the bootanimation.
If you want to revert back to stock, download, unzip and flash the file from within 'ORIGINAL_HTC_SPLASH.zip', as attached. It looks like this:
I hope you like them!

Greetings HD2 Brethren! I recently created these boot screens in Photoshop to showcase our amazing phone's unique triple-booting penta-booting capabilities! I made several versions to potentially fit everyone'stastes and strived to make the boot screens clean, simple, and appealing. My ultimate goal is the assimilation of all HD2s (compatible with both Euro and US HD2s) (Muahahahahahahaha) therefore I have compiled fourteen versions; so pick your poison

Is this operation reversible? I remember finding a thread that the HD2 has two locations for boot screens, one that can be restored to whatever you want, while the other is not.
is there a way that you can brick your phone with this??

I cannot think of such a scenario. However if you unplug your device (from the USB connection) while the flashing is taking place, the odds of bricking your device go up astronomically.

This file will be installed through cmr. Once installed simply add a widget and select Clock (HTC). There are two versions installed as you scroll the options they will be clock 11/12 and 12/12
Although these clocks are accessed through the HTCClockWidget, the widget itself is not modified. The stock widget pulls images from /system/etc/clockwidget
If you like the clocks that are in those two slots currently, then don't install this as it will over-write them.

BIOS Boot Animation with sound
This has been floating around for a couple of years now so I take no credit for the original idea.
I simply edited all of the images to match the specs of the Thunderbolt.
When booting it has a sound of a hard drive starting up with beeps like an old PC.
This file greatly speeds up the boot proccess of the Thunderbolt as well!
The original file is about 3meg, this file is just over 1meg.
Animated gif preview:
The attached zip file is not a flashable zip, it contains the boot animation.zip and the mp3 sound file. Open the zip file and copy the bootanimation.zip and the FinalThunder.mp3 to your computer so that you can copy them to your phone.
Depending on the ROM you are using place the 2 files in the following directory on your phone. If you are unsure, just look in the directory and if it has bootanimation.zip and FinalThunder.mp3 then you are in the right place.
You may have to set permissions on both files to rw-r--r--
(You could also use adb to push the files to your phone if you would rather)
If you think you may want to revert, copy the originals somewhere on your SD Card first.

Boot Animation
This is the same boot animation as in 1.4 but where the 4GLTE fades in at the bottom with the lightning around it I changed it to BAMF.
When it fades out and comes back in it still says 4GLTE.
This is just one frame to give you the jist of things.
I think you will be pleasantly surprised by the results.
Download the file to your phone (make a backup copy in case you want to revert)
NOTE: rename the file to: bootanimation.zip
Move it to the appropriate place on your phone and set the permissions rw-r--r--
NOTE: in 1.4 the bootanimation.zip has been moved to:
/system/media
BAMF bootanimation
If you like it hit the thanks button!
----------------------------------------------------------
BAMF Boot Screens
This is not the boot animation, this is the first screen that shows up before the boot animation and when booting into cwm.
NOTE: If you flash this, restoring from a backup will not revert it, it is there to stay until you flash another boot image.
This is a flashable image, it has to be flashed via bootloader.
Download the file of your choice and rename it to PG05IMG.zip and place it in the root of your sdcard and reboot into bootloader.

Thanks man, I take that as a real complimentary coming from you.
As far as creating more...
I tried the easy way, I added a new folder "clock8" but no luck.
Since these clocks are all called from HTCclockwidget.apk, it would have to be something in the code in that file.
I personally didn't care for any of the clocks I replaced, and for that matter have never seen anyone run them.

Can you create a version for Rolex Daytona watch as well?
1st let me tell you what and all required for a custom bootanimation.
You must have a ROOTED device.
A root file manager such as ROOT EXPLORER
Custom bootanimation of your choice
15-20 minutes of time
and importantly Patience
if you have all these then proceed to the next step
Download any of you favorite Bootanimation from here or from any other thread/site
How to add:
You need root.
If you need the stock bootanimation then make a back up of that using RootExplorer
Copy the bootanimation to your SD Card.
Rename to bootanimation.zip -If the zipfile has any other name plz rename it to "bootanimation.zip" , without quotes
With root explorer or any other app that allows you to get to /system/media
Copy the bootanimation .zip into /system/media and replace it with the stock one (remember to mount R/W)
For HTC phones if you don't have system/media Using root explorer copy the bootanimation.zip to /data/local
And Finally set permissions to rw--r--r--
Should Look something like this
x x -
x - -
x - -
All Bootanimations are of 320x480 size ,

deadmau5 Bootanimation
Hi guys
A friend of mine also has a Desire C and he asked me to resize >this< deadmau5 bootanimation Not quite sure if the original one works - anyways here is the resized 320x480px version which works flawlessly
The boot animation looks like >this<. The GIF-animation might be a little laggy the first time but I can confirm that it's working smooth on your device (30 fps).
Installation instructions:
Download this this and place it on your SD card.
Replace your bootanimation with the downloaded file.
Set permissions to 644 | rw-r--r-- [If you don't know how it's working just enter CWM and choose "advanced > fix permissions" <- I think you can skip this step at all. But doing it won't hurt anything
Reboot and have fun!
Credits go to >Frigorio< for converting the .swf file into seperate frames. Thanks!
...back to the S2 forums now I hope you enjoy it!
EDIT: If you have problems downloading or questions regarding bootanimations or stuff.. just ask I subscribed to this thread so I'll stay informed what's going on here

Epic! I'm a big deadmau5 fan and I like it
Sent from my HTC Desire C
Maybe I'll start creating a few ones I realized that it's really not that complicated and Adobes Photoshop offers some handy tools :b Perhaps you guys will see more in the near future
You could create a red one (like the one on the raise your weapon single) and a AOSP blue one

Good idea And it's not a big deal. Just some recolouring I'm sure they'll be up till evening :b

Why don't you create your own thread with your own animations?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Because...
1) I didn't have time yet.
2) I'm still not sure if I can take the time to create animations on a regular basis.
EDIT: 3) I don't even own a hTC Desire C - I just create those for fun :b
But trust me. As soon as I've got more than a bunch of them, I'll create a thread
By the way.. I added two colors (@RestlessScreams ). Here are the three available colours:
> DOWNLOAD deadmau5 BOOTANIMATION IN 3 DIFFERENT COLORS <
[Maybe some of them aren't uploaded yet. Check again in a few minutes if the zip doesn't appear in it's folder ]
Installation instructions are posted above..
Much fun

Only one "n00b" question:
Put on HTC and replace original? Or flash as .zip?
I think is replace because I opened the .zip, but I´m not secure.
And really thanks for the bootanimations :'D
This is for Verizon variant devices. I will update the Splash_EmptyTemplate.zip android.info.txt (needed to show the correct OS in Download Mode) along with the Unlocked hTC 10 Splash I've included below, as we get new OTAs.
***DISCLAIMER - FLASH AT OWN RISK - IF THIS BREAKS YOUR PHONE, DON'T BLAME ME***
Requirements:
S-OFF and Bootloader unlocked/locked is fine for HTC 10 though
ADB Installed
Instructions:
- Download Splash Flasher v1.0
- Extract the downloaded SplashFlasher_1.0.zip
- Find the image you wish to use, and resize it to 1440 width, 2560 height
- Open the Splash Flasher folder and where it says "place-image-here" place your correctly sized image
- Double-Click the CLICK-HERE.bat and press any key
- You will see the option to convert .png .jpg and .bmp images (options 2, 3, 4)
- Whatever format your image is, is the one you choose (you can have images for all 3 formats in the "place-image-here" folder but no more than one of each format)
- Once you choose 2, 3, or 4 to convert the image, open "place-image-here" folder and you will now see the new file: "custom.img"
- Rename the custom.img to splash1.nb0 (yes, change the extension from .img to .nb0)
- Download this Splash Empty Template - 1.82x
Splash Empty Template - 2.41x I created
- Place the splash1.nb0 file you created into my Splash_EmptyTemplate.zip and now you are on your way to enjoying your new splash screen
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
Code:
fastboot oem rebootRUU
Code:
fastboot flash zip NameOfSplash.zip
Code:
fastboot reboot
I have created a Splash Screen based off the Unlocked hTC 10 Variant. (See attached image)
Download -1.82x

You can download the zip file here.

Thanks. The rush you get when you hit that enter key knowing that the phone just may brick after is like non other lol, glad all turned out fine!
Good job with the image, but I am not going to be making splash screens.
This was to provide an easy step-by-step guide to allow others to take advantage.
If you'd like, please follow the OP, create the .zip and provide it in your post for others to flash, like @hgoldner did. :good:

Whatever floats your boat bro.. :silly:
I'll update this post and create the Splash... Not everyone is able to get to a PC, or may not be able to create the .zip - for whatever reason, so when images are posted by users it'd be nice to give them the option to download and flash the Splash.
EDIT:
You can download the .zip here

I have used this splash screen since my Evo3D (credits to the original creator, it's been so long, I don't remember). I resized it for my M8, and again for my hTC 10. Screenshot & splash1.nb0 attached for anyone interested.
If anyone knows...when I do a normal reboot, my custom splash greets me as expected. But, if I reboot to recovery or download mode (via APM, ADB, or bootloader menu) I get a splash screen with a silver hTC on a black background. Is this a secondary splash? On my other phones, I'm pretty sure I always got PennyWise no matter how I rebooted.

That's normal for the 10.
Also been using splash screen same method since M7 but the 10 was different and doesn't have .imgs those devices had, so this was a new deal, new risk but all turned out great.
Thanks for sharing. :good:

100% agreed my friend, the white was terrible (at least unlocked came black) but it's awesome to be able to customize it as we should.

Editing the splash screen has always been a fun start for me to making the device yours once you get S-OFF. I love being able to play around and customize to when I feel like it. And, yea that white is just terrible, why they try to blind us is beyond me. The unlocked variant gets black.
Thanks for this! I hope to find this one in this resolution eventually. Always loved this one but without the beats logo on the left.

If you're talking about a pixel 2 without the "powered by Android" text, you can find it here.

When I reboot, I get:
1) Black "you've modded this phone" warning screen 2) White "Google" screen with a little lock at the bottom 3) White "Google" spins round to the "G" with progress bar.
After switching the bootanimation.zip I get:
1) Black "you've modded this phone" warning screen 2) White "Google" screen with a little lock at the bottom 3) Black "Google" spins round to the "G" with progress bar.
Is there a way to have all of the screens be Black upon boot?

Here is a video I took to make things clearer.
If I flash the ZIP instead of placing Bootanimation.zip in /system/media, would that fix it?

Don't know. You need to try by yourself. That is very weird indeed. Provide some information, such as, if you are rooted (I assume you are, which root method), which rom, device.

Pixel 2 (Google version), OEM ROM, January Update, TWRP 3.2.1.0, Magisk V15.2.
I'll give the ZIP flash a try.
Flashing the zip is the same. Starts up white then changes black. Is there another image that needs to be modified?

Would it be possible to look at changing the Splash png as well?

False alarm. Had previously flashed another person's black boot animation zip in magisk that didn't change the animation screen to black at all. Looks like I still had the module enabled after switching out my stock bootanimation.zip for yours and rebooting. Somehow that conflict kept making my keyboard crash after booting back up. Looks good, thank you sir.
@Diesel_Jeremiah did you managed to get the "warning screen" disappear?
could you please make a complete tutorial, step by step, how-to install this boot animation? thanks in advance
btw, i'm on google pixel xl 1st generation stock rom, unrooted.
1440p version for pixel XL
EDIT: found one here:
Hi there,
First of all great work the colours are now spot on!
Only problem now for those like me with a pixel XL is that it is all bit small (1080 instead of 1440). I've found 1440 versions of the v1 with the old colours online but I can't seem to find a 1440 version of v2. Does anyone know where I can find a 1440 bootanimation with the correct colours? Or can you give me advice on the easiest way to get what I'm looking for (preferably without having to edit colours or resize for every png)
Thanks a lot!
Can you drop the mirror link? I can't find the attachment
