Dear all,
I faced all the problems you mentioned in the other posts about this problem. I used all the impractical solutions also mentioned to remove battery and to go to plane mode and to download cpuspy and other applications.
What really solved the porblem for me came to me just by accidentent. an ad for app came to me. it is called NQ security, it is actually a security suite more than an app. My battery was almost consumed after four hours of full charge, now it is running for full two days without power save or disabling anything 3g, wifi or bluetooth or even display was left to auto.
This app NQ security scanned my mobile and found two applications as threat, I don't know why they were threat. I downloaded them from google play not hacked. NQ asked me to uninstall them and of course I did and voila everything was solved as I explained earlier.
Why did this happen, it is my only guess and might be wrong. Some applications acts crazy due to not a full compatibility with ICS that made some services keep running and prevent deep sleep. This mad activity was detected as abnormal or a threat by NQ.
Please if any has a better explanation please post here.
Thanks to all of you
Interesting. I wonder how wakelock app were perceived as a threat. Maybe it was a coincidence...
Personally I use CPU spy to see if he phone gets decent sleep time and if not I use system panel and battery stat apps to identify misbehaving app.

I used CPUspy for a while, but warmth of the phone is quite a good indicator that it has no deep sleep. Please try the NQ security to see it yourself.

I've found a different solution. I'm using speedmod kernel and do a simple reboot just after unplugging in the morning and my phone makes it to the end of day with 30% battery. Without speedmod and the reboot it use to be dead 2 or 3 hours before I was ready to plug it in. Works for me anyway.
I will give NQ a try and report back.
This sleep problem is driving me nuts.
Just lost 33% battert in a couple of hours after full charging. checked CPU spy and it was sitting on 200MHz.

hi, from what i know ur situation is that u always stay in at least 200 mhz of cpu using after unplugged, right?
i have the same problem too in the early days, but problem will gone as u notice some glitch below:
if u usualy charge the phone in switch off states, it's ok, but if u r charging the phone in switch on states, take note that when u unplugged the phone while it was still screen lock states, the phone system will think that u didn't plug off the charging, although ur screen didn't show, and the cpu will kill on active in 200 mhz states, so, all u need to do is to reboot ur device, to reset the detection of the charging, and remember next time don't unplug the charging while its under screen lock states.
also, if there is too many noticefication on the top bar, it might too active the phone too 200mhz, clearing it would solve the problem.
now i can keep my phone over night (10pm-8am) with just 25%, and just 1% for the night, sometimes even less

Akilesh - you need to see if any app was running. Over the weekend mine went from 60% down to 12% because Titanium Backup got stuck trying to delete an app and kept my phone running at 200mhz which will drain your battery. Go into settings/Battery and see if any app is at the top of the list. Your phone should not lose 19% if you dont have anything running/syncing etc. A simple reboot took care of the stuck Titanium Backup issue with me.
I am on full stock gingerbread with no root. Cell standby has consumed about 45 percent of drain. I'm now worried. Is there a way to calibrate the battery or reset battery stats?

Hello Akilesh, you could use an app called BetterBatteryStats to monitor your battery usage statistics.
You could root your device and then install Titanium Backup Pro which will allow you to freeze or uninstall unnecessary pre-installed applications by Samsung, which are aptly termed bloatwares.
If you do choose to root your device, kindly follow this guide by dr.ketan, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997
I hope this helps a bit.

screen brightness is one of the prevalent causes of your phone's battery, lower it down to a minimum level. Check if you have syncing apps in the background too, Uncheck background sync datas or account in settings if you have then check.
Now, install cpu spy from google play https://play.google.com/store/apps/...251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5idmFsb3Nlay5jcHVzcHkiXQ.. and check if your phone is in deep sleep or not at all.
Also, quit using live wallpapers (if your using one), though as you said your not using your phone for 6 hours.. the fact that if you do have a live wallpaper running, that will still eat up your phone's battery juice.

maybe it's about high time you consider rooting your phone.. so that you can install titanium backup and shoot those power hungry apps that are hidden somewhere in the framework of your system.
Yeah I'll root in a short while cleo. And is titanium back up useful is reducing battery drain?
Sent from my Android Rocket using Xda Premium
titanium backup is a tool to uninstall and freeze unnecessary apps and samsung bloatwares on your phone. When your going to remove those apps, you are not just reducing power consumption that those apps uses daily on your phone... you are also freeing some ram spaces on your phone's storage.
BTW: My name's John and 'Letters to cleo' is a name of a band that I like most.
Cheers!

In case you opt for a free alternative to titanium backup, there is this app called "AntTek App Manager". I found it by chance and it works exactly likeTB pro (in terms of uninstall and freeze). You have to be careful while using either of these programs

i think you install an app that its drain your battery . if you dont find that you may reset factory your phone
Just got rooted again. Now freezed all bloat-ware. Will check out how it works and post back again.
Edit : Feel the phone running a bit faster after freezing some 15-20 applications.
dont forget to try recalibrating your battery as well.
Mind you, rooting has far more greater advantages than disadvantages.
Check later on if your getting that perennial issue or not anymore...lf by chance it had made some considerable differences, then your a happy camper..
Cheers bud!
If your phone is getting into deep sleep, it can't be any application! It has to be something to do with wifi/Network! If you run 3G, try disabling fast dormancy. That did me wonders!

Problem now solved. Simlply got rooted and flashed SpeedMod kernel K2-12, Entered recovery and wiped battery stats, now a solid 12 hours sleep compromising for a drop of 14%.
Battery Drain
Hi Guys,
I have similar problem. My battery started playing up and keep draining suuuper fast even at full charge. My phone and bat are already 11 months old but I don't thin the battery should die with this short time. I have data always on and screen brightness set to minimum and it has been like that since I have it with no problem. Now, after charging to 100% and removed from the outlet, then start opening an application, it will freeze and won't turn off. I need to remove the bat out to have it rebooted and it's still the when I try again. Other behavior is that the screen will flicker, will turn to airplane mode, and it will turn off even when fully charged when I launched an app. Note that (power saving is OFF and just the same when it's enabled) I can now only use my phone well when connected to charger. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
there are a lot of people facing similar issues with more than 9 months old battery... mainly indicates a battery problem.. but first you should install betterbatterystats and check for wake locks and other apps using the phone when idle and eating up the battery..
My biggest drain according to bbs is Google maps, it's eating my juice when in idle, although I can get into deep sleep bbs says maps is causing wake locks.
Should I just freeze it with titanium? I don't really understand bbs much lol

About a week ago, I started noticing that my phone battery gets very hot and the battery drains quickly when the phone is NOT in use (Screen off, sitting on my desk). Full charge to 0% in 4 four hours or so, without being stressed.
When I try to charge it from the supplied wall charger, it doesn't get past 87% charged before the battery temp creeps into the 40s and it starts draining (while still plugged in).
I assume it's a faulty battery, only because I haven't downloaded anything new. The only change I made was updating Viber. I removed that app from my phone but it's still dropping like a fly.
I've done a factory reset twice, no change.
Rebooted the phone many times, no change.
Tried different cables and different chargers (PC, Old X10), no change.
Now, since I can't replace the battery in this phone, I'm hoping there's a software method to see what might be eating the battery.
Note : My LT30a .195 can't be rooted, and the bootloader can't be unlocked. Also, I don't know how to take screenshots.
Anyone have an suggestions ??
In Settings-Battery you should be able to see what processes are using it.
If you want to monitor cpu load in real time, then you'll need some app, like OS Monitor to see load per process, or PowerTutor for logging cumulative consumption.
I bought this phone several days before. Yesterday got root, installed cwm recovery and installed jb 4.1.2 deoxed stock Rom. I noticed that my phone can't sleep. Totally! Take a look on screenshots. I thought that may be bcoz of some apps so I wiped everything (int and ext sdcard too), but it makes no sense

Turning off your auto sync when not needed should do the trick.
Something's wrong there. I've got too much battery consumption by Android System too, but that is ridiculous.
¿Have you tried BetterBatteryStats to see what's keeping it on?.

try to exit any music player app after listening or exit the game properly after playing..sometimes keystrock sound causes it..

And do check all the columns including partial wakelocks and try to find which process used more time or percentage...

I'm kind of worried of my battery life..
Last night was my first dissapointment, I left my phone untouched for the whole night (8-9 hours) and something just sucked away about 30% of my battery. Not sure if it just didn't go in Deep Sleep or bloatware leeches that much energy off it.
Within 4 hours of which not even 1 hour of Data usage + WhatsApp/Facebook another 30% just went away.
My battery was not this bad on ICS, specially if I left it during the night, I'd see max 5% drained.
Is this normal for now? Untill I go trought a bit of full rechanrging cycles? (From >5% till 100%)
Or it would be better if sometime I root it and remove some of the bloatware and convert system apps to user ones? (Like Maps,)
I also also less battery life. Is I have the double of the consumption in comparison With ICS . It dont have 1 day of battery life (18h), and I don't play. It's unsustainable...
Sent from my LG-P880 using xda app-developers app
I noticed that last night (after upgrading) I lost about 10% battery over seven hours, usually I'd only lose 4 or 5%. A little worrying. Google Now is turned off etc, just data, 3G and sync was enabled (just like I used to have with ICS).
I've just backed up my phone and might try a factory reset and restore to see if that fixes it.
I have noticed that if I open CPU Spy and reset the timers, then lock my phone and wait a minute, it is spending a fair bit of time with the CPU at 475mhz. I used to get deep sleep for 90+ % of the time, with 4.1 it seems to deep sleep about 60% of the time.
I'm gonna see if I can figure out what's waking it.
Did either of you do a factory reset after updating?
EDIT: Did a factory reset, installed BBS and CPU Spy, and a quick test found it in deep sleep 87% of the time. Currently restoring using the LG backup app, we'll see if that sorts it or whether there's something else going on here. Will report back with my findings.
EDIT: Ok, LG's restore tool just finished restoring the backup. It worked fine, aside from warning me about possible problems from a 'cross version restore', even though I made the restore with the same firmware version. As a side note, that LG restore tool is SLOOOW! I have a few big games but it would have been faster to set everything up manually, haha. Probably 2-3 hours it took to restore, though it was hassle-free.
Phone seems to be sleeping much better now... a few tests with CPU spy show about 92% of the time spent in deep sleep, which is about what I'd get on ICS. It's early days but if you guys want to give it a shot, it's shown some promise.
I just checked my phone battery stats and saw this:
Where you see the huge battery drain that's where I was downloading and then testing NFS (had better results than on ICS btw)
Battery was on 40% so I closed everything, even WiFi and went to sleep (7-8 hours)
If you see the stats it did went into Deep Sleep in the beginning but something woke it up and kept draining the battery.

I wish they could build a CM10 ROM with OptimusUI... I really like the visuals.
I cant say I am pleased with battery life on JB. I only had it for one day but it drains faster than ICS. Through the night,in about 10 hours,no wifi,no sync,no 3g,fast rebooted it drained 15%!On ICS,in that period of time, it would drain 3-4% max...On CPU Spy, "deep sleep" is only 33% so something is draining the batt..Anyone else with this probl?
Another update... I started having my phone only deep sleep for about 60% of the time again... and I think I have figured out why. Go to Google Maps, go into settings and check that "Report from this device" is unticked! Mine had somehow been enabled and I am fairly sure it was responsible for my deep sleep issue.

I was experiencing the same high drain overnight until I stumbled upon a thread on here which suggested deleting the maps apk and odex file from the system/app folder using a root explorer. you can then reinstall it from the market. I also did the same with chrome.
before I checked with BBS and maps location services were waking the system up constantly, but after doing the above things are much much better.
you can also try disabling MLT in the hidden menu 3845#*880# as there's a thread in general suggesting this logging app could be eating into battery life/ performance.
Is it normal that the battery drain overnight is over 10% in 7-8h ?
My battery life is very poor..Over the night it drained 30%!!! And I killed all the apps, wifi, 3G everything... Through CPU Spy I can see that my phone doesnt go in deep sleep(only 13%) and it is working on 51MHz for 76% of time!! And I`m not even touching it,the screen is off...Whats up with that? How can I fix it?
P.S. I disabled Google Maps because I heard that they consume a lot of battery in the background..

Either use BetterBatteryStats (which is available free for XDA members, search the forum), or Wakelock Detector. To use either of them, plug in your phone and let it charge up. Open BBS, it will create a reference state. Then unplug your phone and let it sit overnight. In the morning open either application and it will show all the wakelocks (times at which the processor was prevented from deep sleeping). Look at what's keeping the phone awake, and remove/disable it.

It's normal for this phone. Put the phone in airplane mode at night helps me with battery drain, just 2% juice gone.

Well for mine it was an app called Jango, for some reason this app after quitting it wouldn't let the phone go to deep sleep, removed the app and now its going to deep sleep.
Use JuiceDefender or or try to change your brightness level.

Your battery might be defective i guess, if deep sleep is that long and you're losing battery, i guess u have to blame the battery
I don't believe people get upto 4 days usage, if they do they hardly use the phone. Most people on here say about 1 days usage is common. Screen brightness on full will drain your battery more quickly.

It's a long shot, but I also experienced a lot of problems using Viber.. JuiceDefender etc wouldn't solve it, betterbatterystats wouldn't detect it, ...
Just noticed after a while that my sudden battery drains were triggered as soon as I received a message on Viber.
I also heard about facebook apps draining the battery.
Maybe you should first try to reset it to factory settings before asking a new battery?
Good luck with your phone, I know it can be frustrating..

If you're rooted, use greenify to stop facebook from running in the background during sleep
resetting the phone wouldnt help since he is getting almost 99% deep sleep reported in BBS

Viber was the culprit in my case. Eating battery like a hungry monster :silly:
When I got the phone my battery was pretty phenomenal (comparatively speaking). But it seems since I took the update that Sprint pushed out a few weeks ago, the battery can't make it more than a few hours with light/moderate use. Its really horrid to be honest. Hoping the eventual 4.2.2 OTA will fix this. But in the meantime I wanted to know if anyone else was having this issue and possibly help identify the source of the problem. (By the way I am not rooted)

Have you checked the version of your Google Play Services APK? It can cause a particularly nasty bug on HTC devices.

Play Services is v 3.1.36 but the actual Play Store is v 4.1.10 which is said to "fix battery drain issue." Still seems to be draining pretty rapidly. Any fix you know of?
Can we see your usage stats?

The Play Store update should have also pushed Play Services, so yeah. Could we see your usage and also your app list/sync settings?
I'm in the same boat, even after the Google Play Store fix.
Seriously, we need usage stats.
Sorry, been working in home WiFi.
Hardly been using the phone since I still have my old Evo LTE and the battery is better on that.

Wifi used up 43% of 60% of your battery? That's like a quarter of your battery gone! Am I the only one who thinks that's weird? Can we see the graph and awake time etc? (Sorry for the trouble, but it's the only way we can tell)

Just wanted to ask, what does that mean? (Not trying to be negative in any way)

Well, in fairness for the last week or so I've been charging the phone and leaving it in my room. The screenshot was after like a day and a half in which a hardly used it and had WiFi on.
By working on home WiFi I meant talking to ISP and bumping up speeds, for the second time in a week.
I'll post the graph when I get home from work or early tomorrow as the phone has been unplugged for about 20 minutes.

It won't hurt if you actually use it. Watching vids/playing games prevents blown up stats like that.
EDIT: Please, also include stats like screen time, awake time, cell reception, Wifi etc.
This was at work. I hardly use my phone at work fyi.

Dropped 25 ish percent in 6 hours? What seems to be the problem?
With your usage, that would give you a day. I'm happy with 11 hours.
But with no internet connection and hardly any use. It concerns me because usually it would drop 5 maybe 10%. It was great on sleep.

OK, now that I think about it, you're right. I remember getting more than 2 days on standby with absolutely no use (on wifi).
A day with that kind of usage is really not that good. It's weird because your stats don't show anything odd. I'd like to see some moderate to heavy usage stats though. The kind you say gives you 5 hours. That would help more.
Here you go. About 50% gone in about an hour of use (on WiFi) mostly on YouTube/Twitter or music with regular use of ATK.

I'm having a serious battery drain issue with my Sprint One also, though I don't remember exactly when it started - it might very well have been that OTA update.
My battery drains when the phone is asleep. The phone will be dead in just over 24 hours from 100%, with less than one hour of screen usage. The integrated "usage" monitor shows that WiFi consumes this power , whether or not WiFi is in use. I have a paid task manager app that can track stats over time, and according to it, the processor appears to be running at ~15% constantly when the screen is off. I've tried disabling WiFi and having the phone sleep on just the cell network, to no avail. I first thought that perhaps the poor service at my house was causing it. However, I watched the battery drain at exactly the same rate when in an area with perfect coverage.
Here's the weird part - I tried airplane mode'ing my phone. Airplane mode doesn't seem to stop it. In fact, airplane mode seemed to accelerate the drain! I find it simply unacceptable that my phone will die like this with almost no usage.
I feel that the problem is not a rogue third-party app I have installed. I've used the "disable" option on Facebook, Twitter, and I've removed several other suspected apps. It makes no difference. I even suspected my task manager app; I tried removing it and looking at the integrated one, and there was no difference.

Check to make sure never auto turn on Wi-Fi is checked in Wi-Fi advanced settings. I was going to suggest poor reception since that kills my battery, but you mentioned trying airplane mode.
With screen off and nothing running, it's not surprising that Wi-Fi is the main battery drain. But it is too fast in my opinion too.
