on the kernel flash file, look for bootanimation.zip wich can be located on data/local ... or ... system/media
If you already flashed the kernel and want to change the bootanimation to your own ... look for the files in the place i mention above on your phone and delete them or replace them to one u like
Note: Most kernel flash bootanimation to data/local, if u already had one, just the delete the bootanimation.zip from that directory and i will go back to the one u had before flashing kernel!
Take care
thank you so much, but unfortunately that didn't quite work.
well in my case I want to remove the firekernel bootanimation, the second screen after turning your phone on its before the little android sign and after the samsung sign. (basically the black screen where it says Samsung galaxy ace). I tried adding this line to build.prop (ro.kernel.android.bootanim=0) but that didn't work either.

This is not the bootanimation. It is the splash screen.

Decompile boot.img with kernel tools given by Ketut.Now decompile Ramdisk.Now make a blank png with paint or w/e thing you have.Now,convert it into rle,again using ketut's tools.Replace the rle in ramdisk with the one you made.Now,compile it back.You now have a black/empty splash image.This is as close as you are going to get

Hi there, the petitdroid animation is stretched because the size in "desc.txt" is set to 480x800, it should be 320x480. I attached a modified file.
I had troubles installing it as a ROM, so I just included the file bootanimation_petitdorid.zip which contains the animation itself. It has to be reanmed to bootanimation.zip and placed into /data/local, root needed.
Carnival Booth
Here is a boot animation I made: Carnival Booth // xda-developers.com
Please comment if this works (or not) for your device, and how you like it. I will add more versions when requested.
Shouldn't this have been posted under "themes"... Sinse it really has nothing directly to do with developing..?

True. Maybe a mod can move this thread?
I did not create the original animation. It can be found all over the web and I have no idea who created it. Credit goes to him/her.
This boot animation is based off of this gif:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
I added a background layer, removed almost 200 frames (the original was almost 900 frames) optimized the images and made an "ERIS" loop at the end.
.
Note: Sometimes my phone boots up too fast and the animation doesn't make it all the way to the end. Please report how your phone does and I will update accordingly. Enjoy!
That's a badass bootanimation thanks for your work,any way you know how to change the in call screen?

lmao @ this ^ guy
doesn't work on at all on my phone. Evil Eris 3.0 rooted, etc.
I did install it through the recovery menu though. Is there anything specific beyond "Install zip file" that needs to be done?

Yea you don't flash this through recovery. Put it in your tools folder on your pc and "adb push bootanimation.zip /data/local/"

ah. guess I'll have to wait till I get home from work to try it out then.
Get root explorer in market you can move it from SD card or to data/system/media and paste and it'll ask to overwrite and Say yes. Do easy and fast
Just installed, rebooted phone and runs perfect. No changes that needs to be made that I can see, looks awesome! I keep running adb shell bootanimation just so I can keep watching it. Great job

Thanks for your response mendozinas, i already done that. If you check my attached zip file,you will notice that no Thumbs.db in folder/part0 and /part1.
Any other suggestions....?
Just downloaded it and there is still a thumbs.db in both folders. I will delete them and re up to you

Here you go, no more thumbs.db. There are instructions online on how to get rid of off of those on you computer.

zul8er,you are rock ....mate
its run smoothly
many thanks for the detail explaination.
working another bootanimation now.
(mendozinas, iam so embarass...)
A boot animation themed like the newer ubuntu ones.
If anyone has any suggestions for improvement let me know
EDIT: I just realized that i should probably post how to install this...
for CM7 and a couple other roms put it in /system/media/bootanimation.zip
and for the stock rom/sense based it goes at /system/customize/resource/bootanimation.zip
I've read that for sense based it may need to be called VZWbootanimation.zip or something along those lines just replace whatever is there.
permissions need to be set at rw-r--r-- or an upside down L on the left side in root explorer if you don't understand that.

so i cant just Flash it on Clockwork?
this is just the actual boot animation file that goes into the file system... you can just put it there with root explorer or the like.
doesn't get extracted by the way. you just need to rename the zip file

I am currently using the CM10 and this obviously doesn't support the Samsung qmg file types. I was wondering if anyone has managed to create the new Samsung boot animation in zip format. Not the flashing S but the Samsung logo animation?
Here is the S2 logo

PD: you sould edit desc.txt file to change resolution to fit in the screen of i9000:
480 800 30
p 1 0 part0
p 0 0 part1

Finally, change the zip name for "bootanimation.zip" and move the file in system/media
Thank you but...
Unfortunately it caused my phone to stick halfway through the boot animation and go no further.
Very odd because I've managed to swap out the animations before with no issues.
