OH MAN, Looks like the devil got a hold of your N7 and is having his way with it!!
In all seriousness, tho, mine has not had that problem. Have you tried doing a factory reset?

ive contacted Google about this.

Make sure you aren't charging on anything but a stock charger. Low voltage charges usually have this effect

it was like this as soon as i powered it on for the first time, it already had about half a charge and i havent plugged it in since, apart from when going to fastboot to unlock the bootloader and flash the stock image.
@mtfsandlin everything stock. i havent even had the chance to use it properly :crying:

Whoops, never mind. Got a chance to watch the video and it has nothing to do with the launcher. I'm sorry.

I have the exact same issue with mine. Let me know how you go with Google on it.
I installed 'Touch Test' from play.google.com to confirm it.

I always turn it off prior to charging since it will charge faster.
I've had this happen a lot and what gets me is it happens on different kernels and roms.... It seems almost like a safety feature against overheating while charging

There is already a thread about this (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1783173).
It seems to be happening randomly, and for me only on overnight charges.
I'm not sure if it's by design or a bug, but it happens.
The weird thing is, if I leave it plugged in during the day, it will stay on. At night, it usually turns off after reaching 100%.

Nexus 4 bricked :(

Well, last night my NS4 was bricked... Running Rasbean + trinity 109 I was performing an antutu benchmark and the device just powered off. Could not get it back on and only shows the red led. Tried everything that was available on the net (fastboot, flash stock images, 312321 button combinations etc.). I'm going to set up an RMA and already spoke to a Google rep. Since I ordered through a friend in the UK the RMA must ship there. Won't be a problem. Time to relock the bootloader and send that brick away
Congrats.
Btw. most people fixed it with just leaving it charging for a while and then rebooting.

Wasn't a solution available a few weeks ago, when someone posted a video of releasing the battery a bit and the red light disappeared and the phone started working again.
U can try to open the phone up and disconnect the battery then reconnect it. This is how some people got theirs to work again.

Was trying to do that, but the back is more difficult to open as stated in a few posts. Trust me, I went to a music store to get guitar picks and the special screwdrivers I'm just not taking a rist damaging the phone trying to yank of the back (although I was trying the whole day!)

if fastboot works, it should be fine... system/data/boot/recovery are all flashable. fastboot boot recovery.img and reflash rasbean? after you flash stock images it just hangs at the google screen? i doubt it's bricked

This exact same thing happened to me. I was on CodefireX with franco.Kernel and I was running an Antutu benchmark and it just powered off to a red blinking LED.
I too tried everything but I couldn't get it into recovery or fastboot.
I ended up just sending it back to T-Mobile (one year warranty) without locking the bootloader again for a replacement.

It does take a lot longer to charge but I figured the battery(s) are larger. The biggest bug I've experienced (at the wrong time of course) is the loss of Network (calls) when shutting off WiFi. I have to reboot the phone.
Love it otherwise. I use it as my daily and can't wait for the next build in a week or so.
Not getting the network problem here. Might try to redownload and reflash.
The latest few nightlies have not been real stable. I keep going back to my backup of this M3, it does everything well here, fast and stable.

Been having the same problem with file transfers locking up the phone and the screen jumping back and forth on websites and Kindle.
I've re-flashed clean and that helped the network issue dropping after turning off WiFi.
Let's see how the new RC1 build does...
YMMV, but here M3 is a lot more stable than RC1. There is a thread in the general forum on RC1.
I tested file transfers after your post on another thread. Stopped after 2 GB so its working OK here. Might test with different cables, computers.
Actually bad advice. I should have suggested that when the freeze happens you need to file a bug report here: https://jira.cyanogenmod.org

Help!!! My phone was hacked!

OK so the weirdest thing happened just now. I was charging my atrix HD when I went on it to check a phone number. Then it started opening apps and going on xda then other apps. I had no control over it. I couldn't even turn it off. I had to do the power and volume down thing to shut off. It was very creepy. I was just looking for a minute while the person did what they did. It was like when a person from dell controls your computer if something isn't working right. At first I thought it was being laggy but no! It kept going settings were changed and the person tried playing music on it! I turned it off before he could but the wierdest part is that I had turned of my wifi and set my phone on airplane mode so it can charge faster. No communication what so ever. Right now its off and I plan to keep it that way until someone can tell me what to do to protect myself. Also this could have been happening before i went to go check my phone. Which was like 15 minutes before I checked it. Please help

Another thing to be aware of is I've noticed Motorola's screens (at least on the Atrix models) are kind of finnicky. If there's a little bit of moisture around they just start registering touches on their own sometimes.
With my battery life being... less than ideal.. I find myself plugging into all kinds of chargers along my travels. Some non moto chargers make my phone go nuts, exactly like what was described - apps opening etc. Have experienced this several times. Feel the other explanations are possible of course but highly unlikely.

When charging my phone the plug burnt and melted

Last night I forgot to charge my phone, so I plugged it in on the way to work and notice the charge light went out on the phone and when I checked the plug to see if it came out out was hot and melting. When I got to the job I plugged it in with a wall charger thinking the car charger went bad and it was doing the same thing. I figured I'll turn the phone off to save my battery to transfer stuff to the computer when I get home to take it to sprint, I decided to try it again while it was off and now it's not doing it even now I turned the phone back on.
In running the latest 42one rom no custom kernel, I guess whatever was going on isn't happening because it rebooted now.
Anyone ever experience this issue, now I'm afraid to leave it plugged in when I go to bed if it happens again, there isn't no point in taking it to sprint because I'm not able to show them what was happening.

I don't get it?
The OP probably was using the OEM charger, so I think this is a rarity, but a word of caution to everyone: Not all USB chargers are made the same. You should only use high quality OEM charges for your phones, there's no reason to have a fire hazard to save a couple bucks on a charger.
This happened to me a couple of days. I got to work and plugged it in as usual. After a few minutes i noticed the red light went out. I noticed the bottom of the phone was really warm so i unplugged it and the tip of the charger burnt the crap out of my fingers.
I tried other charges and they didn't work and my Mophie won't charge my phone anymore so just like the OP, I ran a Nandroid back-up along with a Titanium back-up preparing to have to swap it out and then having to worry about getting it s-off'd.
As of today, it's charging with another charger but i did scrape the charging port with a needle because it looked like it might have had some char on it.
Fingers crossed!

Most likely a bad rectifier that's allowing some noise on the (what should be) clean DC.
Dirty DC will cause all sorts of ugly on a digital device.

I had a similar problem with my first One. I was charging it on a crappy work computer, and one of the points got zapped. I could still charge my phone from a plug-in, but it wouldn't connect to any computer. $50 later (thanks Sprint), I had a brand new phone. That I may or may not have promptly bricked.
