hello guys i am a proud owner of ob for about o month and after playing with the stock rom i am looking for a custom rom.
i previously owned an samsung omnia 2 windows mobile phone with a wide selections of roms of every kind to play with. for ob i only find about cyanogen rom and nova rom.
i am looking for performance and maximizing the battery. i read about nova that is a light rom with a lot of tweaks but it is based on android 2.2. on the other hand i read that android 2.3 is a little bit faster and better for the battery and cyanogen is based on 2.3 and it has more potentials for tweaks than nova. what is your opinion? is there any other rom that i should consider? should i consider the stock 2.3 chinese rom that has some bugs?
and one final thing i want to ask. i read that with smart flash u can flash to the stock rom. from what i read it can unbrick your phone or replace the custom rom if i don't like it (in that impossible case!!!). i just want someone to confirm that.
thanks in advanced guys!!!!
1 post.. did u even used search?
Best at the moment is zeus rom

Best ROMs are suggestive. Go into the Development forum and start reading. I look for the ROM with the most active developer. Do your own research and you'll learn a lot.
hi guys,
what's the current most clean rom for the note?
the biggest software that annoy me is the Samsung socialHub... but there's more.
and if i'm already posting
any trick to remove the "build-in" software from Samsung?
Love you all android users!! share the love!
Pick from rocket rom, criskelo and kingdroid rom they are all good and better to try them all then compare which one will suit your needs.
..
i think i found the cleanest rom:

just by searching "socialhub" - he listed it as removed
and its really clean.... now i'm working on tweak and change it for my needs
Dear all users, I'm new to this device but not new for android. I'm seeking your advice what step should be taking on my phone in order to have an ICS look & fell, even not a rom but something semilar. Do you think shall I need to flash any custom roms? If so what is the popular one in the galaxy note development forum? My phone detail should read as follow attachments.

If you consider that ICS is announced to be released in March I would suggest to wait until the official ICS ROM is released. If you are eager to try ICS there are several CustomROMs based on leaked ICS Firmware - see Android Dev Section
On the other hand there is the possibility to use themes that give you more or less an impression how ICS would look like - for example ICE CREAM SANDWICH DOMINATION. For more details on themes check the Themes & Apps section.
Hope you find something you like...
Hope your loving the note
Hi there,
I think that alot is down to personal preferences. Personally I am not a fan of ICS themes on Gingerbread.
The best ROM for 100% ICS experience IMO is imilka's ASOP. Pure ICS. I love it but it's too buggy.

I think it worth a play to see what ICS is like.
I have retraced back to this setup, Stable ICS ROM.

It's Touch Wiz themed but you can just install the Nova Launcher from market to give you a ICS home screen which is a enhanced version of the ICS stock launcher. Most importantly it's bug free.
Also check out this Battery Saver profile using the tasker app.

A nice little gem you will appreciate once you realise u can't put the damm thing down
i think you can achieve a faux ICS look by downloading some alternate launchers in the market (like go launcher pro), and download the appropriate ICS theme.
i mean, you don't have to necessarily "flash" a custom rom to achieve the same look.
IMO.
now if you want ICS feel, the best option is flashing a custom rom. There are plenty of custom roms here, so feel free to try (just follow the instructions carefully).
Personally i recommend criskelo rom, but i'm currently on midnote v2.0, using ICS rom.
Thank all u guys here for ur good advices.

Hi friends,
I am proud to join the SGN community. currently my phone is rooted, running on Ginger Bread, kernel version Abyssnote 4.2. Everything just works fine thankful to the developers for their great job and clear instructions. Well, let me not drag it anymore. Has any developer made MIUI ROM based on ICS designed for Galaxy Note? Because previously I used to own a Samsung I9000 and for that model, there was (and still is)a whole bunch of different ROMs with different modifications and tweaks and the list included some MIUI ROMs too which were really cool to look at and fun to use. I just love the themes and those animations on MIUI.After buying this new Samsung Galaxy Note I really hoped I could flash a MIUI based on ICS but unfortunately could't find one here on the forum. I hope my thread sparks some interest in all developers' minds and they come out with a cool ROM for all of us. Thank you for reading my thread patiently. Cheers

Hi Ranjan.Alva,
Thanks for the link to MIUI based on ICS. I am going to flash and see how it works on Galaxy Note.
I tried that ROM too...well, everything looks fine except that the inbuilt player won't play anything from the external memory card. Funny isn't it? What is the use of flashing a ROM if you have to depend on the internal memory all the time?....Any suggestions???
Hey guys, UPS tells me the Note will be here by Friday. This is my 5 (6?) Android device.
Ideally I would like to have a stable 2.X MIUI ROM. I like MIUI so much I even make some themes. Anyway, it doesn't look like there is good MIUI support. So I would like to have a very stable and slim GB ROM.
What do you recommend? Looking through the Android development forum I see most of the threads are about ICS. I don't want to venture in that territory right now.
Just want to be sure: if I am only flashing GB roms I am safe to use CWM correct?
I am sorry this is a noob question but one problem with xda's structure is that you can never find a decent rom comparison thread in most of the device forums. Lay it on me.
only miui roms so far are ics ones
yes flashing gb roms is fine from cwm

You are also safe on CM9-based ICS Roms. They all have safe kernel developed from I9100 source code. The slimmest of these Roms is Asylum. It's under 100 Mbs.
Does the ICS CM9 rom hasve hardware acceleration, Chrome working? If not I rather stay with older kernel.
I need good theme support, Go launcher run smooth on which ROM?
i guess u can enable HW accl in cm9..

chrome works as well..
u might need to use the older version of chrome if u wanna use custom dpi.. but rest everythin is good..
