I just downgraded phone to 2.3.6 so I could wipe and OTA upgraded back to 4.0.4. Rooted w Mobile Odin Pro.
I am having a problem I haven't experienced before. Made a few phone calls since, and on multiple calls the phone will Beep once and then disconnect. I am not touching anything or doing anything. I am on ATT USA in CA. Anyone know what could be causing this?

I'm getting the same in UK under O2, have had it under many different roms. It will happen for the same number multiple times until I leave it a while and retry. I imagine it's a network issue, but if anyone has any other suggestions I'd love to hear them.

Same thing here!
I'm in Serbia and have the exact same problem. If I want to get out of that, usualy I have to restart the Note. Not very fancy.
Also when it gets in that state it does'nt receive cals or sms.
I did the same thing, from 4.03 to 2.36 - wipe, and then to 4.04
Probably a bug with the 4.04 modem?
Guess we could try flashing latest gb modems, see if that corrects it. There's a thread in development I think that has all modems listed.

Not a single issue either...however I did use mobile Odin and down to Gb again...but this time instead of OTA to 4.0.4 I actually flashed it direct with mobile Odin...with clear data etc... maybe that did it for me.. or maybe it was just network

So it seems every month or so my phone part of the phone starts acting up... I hear weird ailen type sounds or a call will just hear me echo until the person calls again. It seems a new modem flash.then fixes it for.a month. I've experienced this with two modems now. Does att systems catch on to em then cause problems? Or why do I have issues after awhile, swap it then its fine?

Modems are kinda a pain in the @ss. You can't suggest someone to use a specefic one cause they act up completly different from phone to phone and the area you're in also makes a really big difference.
I've personnaly always been using JK4, I tried a couple others but they weren't bringing me the same performance/stability.
There's a thread on them. If you do a little search, I'm sure you will find it
I get what your saying, but do they have a lifespan or something? Why do different ones randomly act up after awhile? Is that i9000 modem?

While I'm no noob when it comes to Android/rooting/flashing, this is my first unlocked overseas phone. As soon as I unboxed it I immediately used ODIN to flash the latest Open European Stock ROM and am still running stock unrooted and will probably stay that way. I've never had all of these options before as far as stock ROM's go with all of the different versions for different countries, and I keep reading about a ROM from a certain country is getting a newer update than mine, etc. So my question is am I on the best/correct stock ROM (latest Open European) for using the phone in the USA on Straight Talk? I'm sure it wouldn't hurt anything obviously, but since I have no need for an Arabic keyboard for example would it cause me possible issues to flash an Arabic ROM if it's newer and would there even be any advantages for me? I hope my question makes sense (pretty tired at the moment), and it goes without saying that I mean no offense to people that do need Arabic, it was just an example.

Well the more reading that I do it seems as though Germany gets the latest and greatest first, so I might try the new LB1 Open Germany tomorrow morning since it's a non-wipe...
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
OK, so I loaded the new LB1 Open Germany yesterday morning, but it looks like I also need to change my CSC from KOR to DBT to match, which will unfortunately wipe my phone.
Before I proceed does anyone have any answers to my original question? Is the LB1 Open Germany ROM the best choice for running on Straight Talk in the US or would I be better off with a different ROM/CSC? My concern of course is the best compatibility in the US, but if the ROM choice doesn't matter for that then I'd like to pick the one that gets the newest OTA updates first, which I think is Germany from the reading I've done.
Thanks!
I too wish someone else would chime in. I am also on straight talk. This is also my first international phone. I flashed from kk1 to la3 open europe. After 1 day of use it looks like this has worse battery life than kk1 Hong Kong. I'm rooted with 1 percent mod and crt off. Android OS is the dominant process even with my screen timeout set to 10 minutes and me leaving it on constantly. Over 3 hours i think it was...cleared my stats just now, ran batt to 0 for first time. I've only had the phone 3 days but I'm lovin it.
Looking for stock builds to hold me over until the inevitable official ice cream sandwich release
---------- Post added at 03:42 AM ---------- Previous post was at 03:30 AM ----------
Oh and since i obviously don't post alot, i have to say so far both builds feel slow to turn on. And home jump is laggy. Lock screen was slow on kk1, fine on la3. Hope someone finds this info useful...
I would be interested as well. I am usung the stock KK1 that my phone came with and want to stick with non-custom roms for now. Thanks!

If you are on the Hong Kong KK1, there was an update to LA2 a few weeks back which includes all the newer features.
Regarding CSC, you only need to change it if you want to get OTA upgrades for the rom, but since you are happy flashing via ODIN, why bother changing it.

I guess I'm just anal and would like my phone to be set up perfectly. And although I'm quite happy to just use ODIN (and probably will to get ICS sooner) I read in another thread that my CSC not matching is why my APN won't auto configure. Not sure if that's true for sure, but mine won't and I've had all kinds of trouble with data this week.

I see that this LA2 is not rootable and that I will lose root if I flash it. Is that correct? I also see that it will wipe the device. If it is worth it, I could flash it and then wait for ICS. This is really an interim solution until an official ICS build is released. Thanks!
AFAIK Straight Talk APN does not auto configure.

Being a relative newb here, what is Straight Talk? I presume it is a method of network identification but otherwise I have no clue. I have read, however, that some other folks' notes' APNS's did automatically get configured and am wondering why mine didn't. Thanks!

Straight Talk is a Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) that uses (resells) AT&T and T-Mobile under their own name. It's a great deal because it's $45 a month for unlimited everything, although I hear you should keep under 2GB (or 3GB) per month.

Lb1 after 1 day feels good. Doesnt wake as fast as it could...but better. Home jump still slow. O well better battery thus far, os is not dominant!
By the way, check the theme section if you want cwm flashable crt off and batt percent, i made a package for lb1

Yes I used straighttalksim.com and went back to the APN settings on the card last night. Data is slow but at least more stable today than it has been all week. Keeps flipping between 3G, H and H+ though.

Do you have auto-retrieve enabled? Sounds dumb, but sometimes the most simple things go right above our heads.
Also, it would be of great help if you provided more information. What sms app you are using, carrier, modem, etc.
Just made sure that auto retrieve is on. I am on at&t And the radio band is T959tljl3. I'm using cm7 stable mod. It never happened before and it only started recently. And I'm not using any sms app Thanks for the help btw

Do you get a lot of text messages? One of our users on the Legend thread had the same issue. We suggested lowering the amount of messages from 100 to 50 before they are deleted. The user reported back that the issue was resolved after doing so. Not sure if cm works the same but worth a shot..
Yes I do, I will give it a shot, the weird thing is that it never happened before.
Thanks for the advice though

I'm not sure if your are referring to the modem, I believe baseband refers to the modem. Regardless, can anyone confirm that modem works on the captivate? I don't know why, but I think that modem is for the Vibrant.

Get on over to the "soggycashew.weebly" website for modem dance and also find which modem is best for your area via map location. I just did the dance again the other night and fixed my phone. I'm using the T959tljl3 - radio-cm7-ics-captivate-tljl3-signed.zip download/modem. Works perfect up in Ottawa.

I've been trying for hours to update to the EE firmware through Lies on my Windows 7 laptop, but the program just closes down after the " downloading update components " window.
I've tried googling this issue and it seems I'm not the only one experiencing it, but none of the possible solutions I've tried have made any difference.
I would appreciate any suggestions or advice, but I'm starting to consider the Odin method, which I've had no experience of using whatsoever.
Help!
I updated as well.
What problems are you experiencing with wifi and battery drain?
If anything the media storage on my phone seems better than my i9300 and wifi seems fine, unless you are referring to tethering which I have not tried
Here is the list of problems with wifi:
1. Connection is intermittent despite the setting to always on
2. Wifi range is bad compared to other phones in the same place connected to the same router
3. Connection is very slow compared to other devices
4. Even if it connects to the router, there is no Internet at times and that's a big problem in itself
5. Trying to connect to public hot spots is a waste of time
Battery drain is faster (4% per hour at least) despite disabling bloatware and switching of Google's hidden settings like location update etc.
By the way performed hard resets several times but no luck. Maybe the unit itself is faulty.
Sent from my GT-I9305 using xda app-developers app
I would have thought so.
I have good wifi signal and tethering works as well. So it may be a faulty unit.

According to samsung after 3 failed attempts to fix the phone they will give you a new handset
Thanks for the advice, I didn`t know that. I`m off to my local Samsung repair centre today to see what they say. Over the phone they said that if they agree it is faulty then they will simply replace it.
Good stuff. I have had experience with my i9300 already which has been sent twice to samsung repair. It takes a while but at least you get the job done. I don't trust mobile line providers as all they give is 14 days and they are supposed to give 28 but hey. What can I say.
Battery drain.
Turn off:
wifi, data and bluetooth during the day and only turn on when required.
Updated to 4.1.2 earlier today, multi-window seems like a good feature, however not many apps are supported. At first I manually searched for the update from my phone but it said I already had the latest software installed, but when I opened it through Kies I got the update notification.
Yes me too. Although I have to hate kies as its slow and sometimes sticky. Ill be going through odin from now on
Hey guys I picked up a bell mobility HTC One in Ontario Canada the other day. I rooted it and I stalled CWM and installed 2 different roms now one was CM the other was coin's. For some reason when I pull up the xda app or try to bring it up in the browser it never connects. I can loaf the home page but not the forums and the app goes nowhere. It worked fine on stock. I have the standard version of both roms installed. However this only occurs when I'm connected to the mobile network it works fine over WiFi. Any ideas?

Could this have anything to do with firmware?

Installing latest firmware only takes 5 mins, so it's probs ideal to give it a try. I was having issues with call quality but firmware fixed it!

I never experienced this, but if you tried 2 different roms, Firmware is your best bet for solving the issue. I am on bell too, so I am not sure why it happened to u and not me.
