Ive got a dell streak 7 from a friend "given" hes says the charging port is bad. the 30 pin connector. my question is, if the battery was bad would the charging light still come on. It doesnt charge at all. i was hoping to get out of sodering a new connecter on. Oh it doesnt turn on.
What color is the charging LED? It's red if real low, amber about midway and turns green at around 90% full.
It doesn't lite up at all. Do you know if the streak 5, 30 pin will work with a streak 7. what I should say is do you know where to buy parts, sorry.
The connector is the same, the actual motherboard ports could be different though. (as in how they're physically anchored/etc)

I don't think a S5 cord will work and I have no idea where to get parts.

This is suck. I could not get a repair done in USA because T9193 is Australia model. I am asking your guys for help. My T9193 was happened:
"Hi guys: Somethings wanted to share with you guys. never never put your phone to the car charger before you start the car. It happened to my HTC HD2 T9193 now it can not be charged or data xfer. the orange led not light up also there is no ac icon instead of battery icon on the display. now I have to use swapping battery instead of charge it. if you see this post your are a lucky guy to know this experience . by the way, anybody knows how much will cost to repair and where?"
Your power supply probably surged when the car started, frying your motherboard USB charging circuit. You are looking at replacing your motherboard, which is universally not worth it (just buy a new one).
Leddy, I posted this in another thread but maybe you could help me out?
"Does anyone have the HTC Touch HD2 T9193?
If so, could you show me what the screen looks like with the fonts set at max size?
There's also supposedly a feature that lets you enlarge the screen 200% and I would love to see some pics of what that looks like 'cause I really have a problem finding a phone where the stuff on the screen is big enough for me to see without glasses.
Maybe someone could do this and put it on a scanner so I can get a good picture to scale? I could then download a pic of an iPhone and scale it to size and compare the two side by side."
THanks
George

my Sony X1 is doing the same! unable to charge.
but it will charge if i plug it to computer.
As the title. Oddly the streak will be powered by it when the battery is removed (it shows the "battery missing" screen.
The battery I have is a third-party Chinese thing I got from the amazon market. It seems to do the job for other handsets I have (HTC Raph, Couple of nokia handset)
Is there anything I can do to make it work?
The USB input on the Streak requires 1000ma @5v to charge so many of the chargers on the market won't work. I just picked up a Just Mobile Gum Pro 4400mA from Amazon and it seems to work fine. I haven't had a chance to check it out yet other than to make sure the Streak shows "charging" when it's plugged in.
Here's a link.

Thanks for your info. Would appreciate if you could post your findings later.

Phjnky, have you tested it further? How long does it take to charge the streak and how many charges can you get out of this?
Does anyone else has any external battery to recommend?
Found Duracell CEF23-UK on amazon which seems like a very good idea. But it only output at 1.4v, 360mha which is useless for the streak. Does anyone know anything similar that can charge the streak?
The mobile gum pro works really well. Went on a trip and used it to power and recharge the streak. I dont recall but it seemed to recharge maybe twice from around 25% or so. It does charge rapidly about like the wall charger but I was using gogo inflight Internet and listening to Pandora, reading blogs etc while it charged. It kept the Streak going all day while on two long flights. I never fully ran it out of juice but got down to one bar.

How are they? I see another battery that is priced at $9.50, but it looks like its the exact same battery... for a higher price.

I don't have the charging dock so can't comment on it.
These two batteries look the same to me except the $5.80 one seems to have a yelloew sticker with a wholesales vendor's name on it. The $9.50 one shows an extra "Built-in safety and protective circuitries" feature in the description.
I have a different pack, SKU 57931, from them. It comes with a bettery but I am not sure if it is a $5.80 or $9.50 one since there is no serial # on the battery. After initial full charge, Streak uses about 25% per day. I have very mininum phone usage (few quick calls/texting/WiFi. I don't have 3G service).
Even it is a $5.80 one, it seems to be working fine for me.
BTW, it took a while to finally receive the shipment in US. (about 4 weeks after placing the order).
I have the charging dock. It works very well I use the streak as a bedside digital clock
at night while it charges. Good value as mine came with all cables and power supply.

Careful using the dock / sparr charger it bent the pins in the port oem cable won't work now. Having my baby fixed

Make sure you buy 3 .
I dont own either, but I do have a usb cable coming from them in a few days, as well as a zune cable amongst other things. Hope it isn't broken.
I got a USB cable from DX and it is very problematic - it causes the Streak to crash and/or drop its connection. I have a number of cables, both original Dell ones and aftermarket ones purchased from eBay, and none of these exhibit the same issue.
I have bought a LOT of stuff from DX over the years, and it is extremely rare to have any problems, so I guess that I just got a bad cable, but you may want to test yours carefully when you get it just in case there is a bad batch out there.

Can you explain what you mean? I'm not too sure what your saying... it... causes the streak to freeze?! That's so strange!

When I have the Streak connected to my PC (or to a USB power outlet) using the cable that I got from DealExtreme, it frequently reboots and/or loses the connection to the PC. This only happens with the DX cable (I have 4 genuine Dell cables plus 2 bought from eBay and none of them have this problem).
There is obviously a loose connection or short inside the cable.
As I said, I don't want to put anybody off from buying from DX, as I find it's very rare to have any problems with their items.
any problem with this dock and battery so far?
Will the Streak (with the Otterbox case) fit on the dealextreme dock?

Took a few weeks to get it but I finally got it. The dock is great, the only complaints I have is that the AC charger is only EU (thankfully I had my AC adapter from another Mini-USB device), the car charger can be easily disassembled because it's not glued, and you can't charge a spare battery AND your phone at the same time through AC power alone... if you want to charge them both at the same time, you must also use the USB adapter and connect the dock to a computer. There is an LED that changes from Red to Blue, depending on what it is charging at that moment. If you have your phone docked, it will charge the phone and the light will be Blue. If you insert a spare battery to be charged, the light will change to Red and only the spare battery will be charging.
I've been using the $5 spare battery for 3 days now and I must say it's as good as the original. Let's just see if it holds a charge after a few months!

The answer to this is no, the Streak with Otterbox is too thick for it.
I recently purchased a Nexus 10 via Amazon UK (fulfilled by Amazon) and unlike the samsung branded two part plug that was also in it (which had just two prongs so i'm guessing that's a USA plug) the 3 pin USB power adaptor socket that came in the box was not branded which I thought was a little strange but didn't think anything more of it.
Unfortunately as you can see from the attachments when I plugged it in it blew up (literally) scorching the socket and blow apart the adaptor.
This was a huge fire risk and luckily I hadn't plugged the usb cable into the Nexus 10 so it wasn't damaged
So does anyone know where I can buy an official Nexus 10 UK power adaptor?
Just get one of these

Looks like im going to have to send the whole thing back anyway now.
The nexus is reporting that it is charging even when its not plugged in.

What about if you reboot it? Does it still say the same? Try connecting to pc also, and see if that helps.

When you restart it it does stop saying charging but as soon as it goes to sleep and then you wake it up it then says it's charging (even without it being plugged in).
Tried a hard reset and exactly the same.
The american plug comes apart and you can use a figure of eight cable in it, a bit like a laptop power supply with the brick in the middle.

mine doesnt make any noise. i think motorola only made yours that way? you should probably get it replaced.
Mine does that since it was new. It's right next to my bed and it sometimes gets annoying at night, but not worth the hassle of replacing. I've had no issues charging.
Mine does the same, it's plugged into one of those 3 outlet splitters if that's any reason. But only everyonce in a while
Mine only does this when I charge it wirelessly . I hear a loud squeal for about 15 seconds and then it goes away.
Any sparkies looked to see if its cheapass caps issue? Only other thing I could think of is since its a quick charger there is some other half assed component in there since I think it adjusts voltage. Oddly this is the first walwart ive had that did this.
I swear a squirel is gonna jump out my phone motorola.
It does on mine and it's annoying when I'm charging it at night next to my bed. I just use a 5V 2Amp charger for overnight charges.
I have quite a few chinese power adapters for boards with coil whine.
My moto charger is fine though, I would expect they are higher quality and coil whine wouldn't be too common. Try for a replacement I guess.
Same problem. And there is already another thread about this issue...
Mine is making noise when my N6 is fully charged - otherwise the charger is quiet.
