For a navigation when I don't have a signal Copilot has not let me down yet. You download the maps directly to the device.

I have tested this pretty extensively. It holds up great in my civic and my suburban. However, it you mount it to flat glass it falls off repeatedly. I drove a bus for our church vacation bible school and it fell of twic in 5 minutes. To make it worse, on of the arbs slid out and got lost. My best guess is that it needs the extra space behind the suction cup that a curved window offers.

I have it on my dash and what i did was to put a dab of water on the plastic suction cup before sticking on the glass
i am just afraid that someone might smash my window for it so remove it when i am done driving unless i am park at my own space
i found my car mount today to at Home Depot in the form of a roll of velcro tape, just 4 penny size circles in each corner was enough to hold the nexus firmly in place. i ordered a hard plastic case so i can put the tape on that instead of the tablet.
Just an FYI for my fellow Californian's, it's illegal to have anything (ie.Mobile Phone cradles, GPS, etc.) attached to the windshield apart from your Rear-view Mirror.
The Velcro idea is awesome wonder if the hard case will hold up to the heat and cold
I have some of those ezpass (toll transponder) plastic velcros with 3M tapes laying around and will try this

That's actually not true. You can attach it within a 5"x5"section on the lower driver side corner or a 7"x7" section on the lower passenger side corner. However, these are both still extremely limiting.

I love cycling, and hated that I couldn't combine the power of my Dell Streak with cycling. Until I found this bad boy. This thing works perfect, and is very secure.
I use Run Keeper to track my progress, and Ulysse Speedometer to track my speed, and the new Android Music app to listen to music. It makes for an awesome cycling experience. Who needs a wimpy bike computer, when you've got a Del Streak.
I'm a new user, so I can't post links, but if you go to amazon.co.uk and search for "ULTIMATEADDONS Bike, Bicycle, Motorbike Mount Kit and Holder for Dell Streak Mini 5 Smartphone" you can find it.
that looks awesome! I'd be extremely paranoid of it getting splashed or rained on though! :-\
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA App
The back cover covers most of the phone, and protects it. I also live in an area that doesn't rain very often, so I'm not too worried about that.
ultimate addons, = gpsforless, or my near neighbours.
I've heard of people breaking the mounts inside their car, so be careful..
I want a mount for mine for the inside of my velomobile, but haven't got around to it yet.
when I'm mtbing it lives in a rigid glasses case inisde my rucksack
sweet find, thanks dude!!
Seems to hold it nicely but very little protection for the Streak if your bike goes down.
Do u think I can set that up on my sportbike?
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA App
If my bike goes down and damages my phone, I've got bigger problems than a broken phone. Also, this is more secure than putting in the back pocket of my jersey, which I was doing prior.
The mount fits on most handle bars, and says it will fit on motorcycles, but I guess it depends on the bike.
Looks great for casual riding but I wouldn't chance it if your a serious rider ie off roading. My bike usually end up covered in mud and occassionally flying through the air so I'd rather have it in my backpack covered in a waterproof bag for extra protection .

Errr, so amazon.uk is the only place to get this?

I did not set out to prove how secure the mount is, but after today, I am very confident in how securely it holds my phone. I had a moderate crash today, and after I gathered myself, and assessed my injuries, my first thought was, is my phone ok? Sure enough, not a scratch on it. In fact, it continued playing my music as if nothing happened.
Any chance of a photo of the actual bike mount hardware? Does it swivel, or is it perma-landscape?
I have this on my bike:

CAREfull all
Just to let you all know.. please be carefull with the mounts.
My bike-mount gave up last week! (while on a ride!)
I was doing like 60 kmph (40ish mph), and a very small undulation in the road.. and the mount (plasticy at the section where it broke off) just broke!
My Streaky was in a Silicone case - which I thank a lot (for taking good amount of impact on the corner- and some nasty skidding too!) saved the day for the phone.
Otherwise, It was a big FAIL for me!
The phone was saved!
I would suggest use some tape/glue ( just to make sure!)
(Fail section is just where the phone clamp part connects the Ball part. (that is plastic in all mounts, right? - that should be metal man!)
Thanks,
Sony.
I own a 2009 Honda Pilot and just recently bought a refurbished NC. I couldn't help but noticed that it will almost fit in the center console:

In fact, if I push hard enough, the top of the console cover will actually lift a little bit to give room. So, I decided that I only need to cut a little groove underneath the ceiling so my nook will lock into place:
It worked quite well, but because of the pressure, sometimes it will accidentally press on the volume key and the power keys. So I made the groove on the upper left side longer so it won't press on the volume keys, and I cut out a hole in the rubber matt at the bottom so it won't touch the power button:
When I detach the NC, you can't even tell a hold was cut underneath the ceiling of the top cover unless you get up really close to examine it. And when I attach it, it's awesomely beautiful! I hope this will help other Pilot owners.
Tools I used:
- dremel rotary tool to cut the hole in the ceiling
- sharp knife to clean up the cuts, and cut the bottom matt
Tested: tethered off my Tmobile G2 for internet and GPS, activated google navigation while listening to pandora.
Thats pretty sweet!!
Nice mod! although personally I would not cut into a console of my car just to fit a Nook into it.

Isn't that tablet obstructing your field of view being mounted like that? I would probably have opted for one that attaches to the heaters in the centre of the dashboard (as your phone), or the cd slot.

does it vibrate while you drive or no?
here is a video of my set up:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4SNHy5ofp5E
I actually have a similar set up as you (including tethered gnex!). While it's a nice mount, one of the issues I ran into with the mount is the way the part that holds the tablet attaches to the base. It's this idiotic peg and slide (wish I had a picture to show you).
Basically, you MUST have the mount fixed a certain way otherwise the tablet part of the mount could slide off after awhile (as I found out while driving through city streets). Unfortunately, to do that you would have to put the retractable part of the arms on the bottom, which kinda works against gravity. It's fine now but time will tell if those springs give way and become loose
http://www.iballz.info/
I've had these iBallz since my first iPad. They went on my iPad2, Transformer TF300, and now I have them on my Nexus7. They are the original size iBallz... I see on the website they have a 'mini' version for smaller tablets... might have to check those out as I get a lot of use out of these.
I am an eBay seller so this tablet gets around to yard sales, thrift stores, all over my garage and more. I am constantly setting it down somewhere dirty. The iBallz keep the tablet off the surface I am setting it on. I gave my iPads and the Transformer the 'drop test' with these and the iPad's come thru like champs. The Transformer (same size as iPad, also made by ASUS) survived the fall from about 4 feet high straight down to the ground but it did a reboot. I noticed no further issues besides the reboot.
Since the 7 is also made by ASUS i'm assuming something similar will happen but with all the screen lift scare I'm not going to intentionally try the drop test on the 7. I'm sure it will get an accidental drop sooner or later and I'll update this when it happens.
The strings give an added support that feels nice when you slide your hand in between the elastic band and the pad it feels more secure in your hand- less likely to slip out of your hand. The balls are great to hold on to when laying down on your back on the couch or bed watching videos or surfing..
All the balls are clear of any outer buttons, although the top right one almost hovers over the power button- but not enough to prevent usage of the button but very close to it. I'm sure the mini balls they sell will be even better.
Thats all my thoughts on it so far- I've only had the iBallz on the 7 for a couple days now as I just got this tablet. I'll update this more if I see any more insight on it.

That I can understand but they are more like form fitting foam (very solid foam but still cushiony) that is precision cut to fit. I guess if someone is so inclined they could make them but I don't think the majority are these kind of people.
For the price I paid ($25) I have gotten quite a few years of use out of them on several devices.

I see what you did there. This is the first time I've ever seen something like this. I agree it is a little steep for $2 worth of nurf balls.
OMG
Not sure what to think about having balls on my tablet. Guess nice drop protection unless your ball's fall off.
That system might work, but honestly, I'll risk dropping it. I couldn't even give a reason without making it sound like an insult...so I'll just say it's not for me...

Happy new year folks
I've been looking for something like this for a while and have come up with nothing. I'm at the point where I think I have to buy two items and jerryrig them together to get what I want.
What I need is a gooseneck arm for my phone on my desk. The phone needs to be held on with a magnet and the gooseneck needs to be clamped to my desk.
Basically I want to combine this

Every gooseneck I've ever seen has a clamp on the phone end. My thought is to glue the above circular magnetic mount to the gooseneck and then just cut away everything else with a dremel.
Has anyone ever seen what I'm looking for?

How did you find this? I swear, sometimes my wife, who sits behind me, and I can both do a search on each of our Windows 10 Pro desktops, in Chrome, using the same words, and get different results.
The Benks Magnetic Cell Phone Holder is completely, EXACTLY, what I have been wanting and looking for five months!!!!
Thanks so much!!!!
I just ordered the Benks Holder from amazon. I found it at aliexpress for six dollars less, but I keep stuff in my amazon shopping cart that all apply for free shipping and when I get enough of them to qualify I place the order (I'm not Prime).
Thanks again!!!
lol. understand about different results. i think google bases results from what you've searched for before. (since they keep every little scrap of info for years and years).
yay! glad that one fits the bill and you were able to find it even cheaper.:good:
for slippery desk surfaces , you could always put a small square piece of thin rubber between mount surface and desk surface. just a thought.
That arm had the desk clamp, but it also has a phone clamp. I need the phone to be held on with a magnet.
