Which ROM do you use??

In the stock ROM wifi always crashes. Try another rom.

if you use custom rom, the problem may come from it.
beside, you didnt give any detail information.

Okay;
The problem in the stock rom is the wifi driver. It fails alot, than if you try to start wifi, it says "error", or it simply wont connect.
I dont know the exactly problem, but after installing cyanogenmod 7 the drivers has been fixed, so wifi works pretty good.
If you want to stay stock, you should upgrade to 2.3.4 or higher, the gb roms dont have extreme driver failure, if wifi wont connect, keep turning on / off wifi, finaly it will connects.
In stock 2.2.1 wifi fully crashes if you restart wifi a few times. It will say "error", and you need to reboot the phone.

[Q] cyanogenmod 9 - V2+Alfs = Network Problem

After installtion of ROM (without installing other APPS for ROM) mobile network was working fine and I was able to make/receive calls. I used it for couple of hrs, the only thing I noticed that I was not able to turn the WIFI on I thought this could be because of other apps so I installed other apps. Immediately after installing other apps network is gone even if I try to search network manually it says "Error while serching network" and still I can not turn my WIFI on. Any one else having same problem?
I reinstalled ROM to check this and again same problem. No network & No WIFI.
About wifi, it's said in the first post that it only works with static ip, although there's a fix for that, so i used it and my wifi is excellent now.
About the network, i really can't help you but mine is fine...Have you tried to wipe data before installing the rom again?
This ROM need nAa11 kernel to work ot of the box! Why you need alf's kernel?

Yes I know.... but in developer's thread I found many people are using alfs without any problem so used this one. Just now I tried flashing nAa11 trough 1st post but unfortunately flash tool is not showing this file in available kernel list??????
problem solved with nAa 11 and reinstallation without wipe

Wifi Custom kernel problem

Update: Solved (just reflashed the ROM)
I have a problem here with my X8. So, after I have successfully unlocked my bootloader without the network problem, now I have a wifi problem. So what I did was: rooted my phone, unlocked the bootloader, applied a nAa kernel (before that I tried the MiniCM9 with the ICS nAa kernel), then I applied the custom ROM called JoyOS... In both cases(ICS-MiniCM9, and JoyOS) I have the problem when connecting to a wifi router, I cant use it. I know it sounds strange but I can connect normally with the wifi but still I cant use it... I mean when I try to open google.. or use anything with wifi (like syncing) I just cant... it says unable to connect to the internet. I am thinking its the unlocked bootloader problem.. but I am not sure. Can someone help with this please.
Maybe just reset router...
lol???
Thats not a problem with the router... I am using the internet via that router writing this reply.. please dont be stupid and post something smart.
EDIT:
Still waiting for a reply.. I really need a solution for this..
Have u tried connecting to a totally different router cuz that may be ur problem, I have a friend who had a similar problem with an android tablet that didn't like his router so give it a go it won't hurt to try
P.S did it connect when it was stock?
Sent through my X8
it did connect when it was on stock ... and I am not sure but I think it actually was working a little while I was using the MiniCM9 ICS ROM and on the same rom actually the problem has occured. Now I am not sure if it stopped working because of the unlocking and applying a new kernel or something else happened in the mean time.. Could it be I disabled wifi somehow? somewhere?
What rom are you using? i only say that because when i swapped from minicm9 to semc debrand engine both wifi and 3g stopped working but when i switched back to minicm9 it worked perfectly again.
Try a Full wipe + wipe dalvic cache (or whatever it is) and install the rom again, hope this helps
Now trying to flash miniCm9 again.. we ll see now.. will update in a few minutes
Update:
Great, , just flashed the ROM again and now working well. Thanks anyway for helping.
No problem glad i could help

[Q] WiFi Won't Connect GDX028b

Hey, I've got a problem after a fresh install of GDX 028b.
My WiFi simply won't connect. It sees the avaliable networks, but when I try to connect to my router it stucks at connecting, at disconnects, then goes back to scanning, doing this cycle forever.
I have an Alfs v08 and GDX v028b, and I've installed the GingerDX Alfs Kernel AddOn v007 as well.
What can cause this problem?
Things I've already done:
-deteled the remembered networks
-completely wiped everything, reinstalled rom, kernel
There's a kind of fix Swift did with titanium. it worked for me even on v28. You may want to search that.
Sent from me to you
yeah try to read this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1605047
its so simple..and work at my phone
Thanks for the reply, but unfortunately this did not work.
Sorry, but I have to bump this.
One last update, I've obviously tried to connect to more networks, some open, some closed, but I still couldn't manage to connect.

[Q] After using the phone -> No connection and phone shuts down

Alright, I have very strange problem on my phone.
It happens when I browse the internet with my phone. Suddenly, I lose my connection. Then the phone shuts down. When I open in again it has 1-4% battery and still no connection.
I have no idea what the reason could be.
I've tried to change rom but it didnt help. From 4.0.4->4.0.4 (currently)
Thank in advance
I'd like to add to OP that my phone shuts down after long use, I dont have to be at the internet.
Does anyone have any idea?

Moro.
I had SlimICS first, then I changed to XI9000 -style ROM.
But I dont think the problem is because of the rom, as I didnt have the problem first on SlimICS, but then suddenly it just "appeared".
Should I try to change the modem?
Weird.. yes, i would try to change modems, if that doesnt work i would maybe try a re install of the rom.. btw which modem are u using? I want to use xxjvu because i get a better connection with that but i get the roaming sign after installing it :X

I had JVT.
Alright, I flashed JVU now, the phone doesnt turn off anymore. But still it loses the connection, which basicully means I have to restart my phone.
Can you recommend any other modems? (modems that work in Finland)
Well, the one on my sig works good.. but that doesnt sound like a modem issua at all, i think u might have to try and install a new rom.. i wpuld suggest a FULL wipe and sd card formating before u do

Yes, I think you're right.
Im going to flash 2.2/2.3 with odin and format sd-card, after that I will flash again this 4.0.4 rom. If it doesnt work then I have no clue.
Thanks
Yes, that sounds right. Good luck!
Alright..
So I flashed Darky's Resurrection Edition Android 2.3.6 with Odin (repartition+pit+pda)
It didnt help, phone still shuts down.
Now I think Im going to backup my sd-card and try a 2.2 Rom.
could be battery related
Hi,
you've probably solved your problem by now, but just in case, here's what I found researching this issue (I have the very same problem):
This seems to be happening to various phones (although, SGS I9000 and its variants are the most frequent), various ROM and kernels. It is very
probably battery related as the solutions which helped people ease the problem the most were sticking a bit of a bussiness card under the battery
to make contacts tighter, scratch the contacts on the battery itself with scissors or some other metal tool as they have become oxidized through
frequent charging (this significantly reduced number of my shutdowns, but didn't eliminate them) and buying a complete new battery (by far the
most successful solution, although, even this didn't help some people )

Need help understanding

Installed a Rom and for some reason my Wi-fi wont activate. I press activate, and it will flash 4 times then just goes back to gray? anyone know what could be causing this?

tried that on 4 roms...is my phone broken or something? Wi-fi works fine pre rom, but when installed it just wont do anything. at first I thought it was just the Honami engine brands but I just tried another off brand forgot the name...some modification for the generic Firmware with a few add-ons...and still the wi-fi won't work.
Is this a new issue? or has someone been through this? Clean flash didn't work.
makes me sad face cant findd the solution anywhere...my ocd wont let me keep the rom knowing that it wont work lol.
So... does wifi work with a stock rom, but not with a custom rom? or wifi doesn't work at all at this point?
Should pull a logcat and see what your errors are....
Well, I uninstalled the rom, and back to 10.3.1.E.0.191 Wi-Fi works perfectly. But when I install a rom, wifi wont even humor turning on, it just blinks four times then goes back to gray.
I don't know what logcat is, is there a tutorial somewhere for it?
So I ran LOGCAT after viewing a small tutorial.and when It gets to network controller it says
Networkcontroller( 2140) refreshviews: Data not connected!! set no data type icon / roaming
and I get that twice in a row. So do I need to install a file somewhere? is the installed rom just not wifi accessible? what?
