Hi to all,i m a newbie to this forum and i dnt know how to and where put questions exactly.
So i apologize if i am asking my question at a wrong place.
Actually i am frustrated with the battery life of my note.now, i want to update it to 4.0.4.
i am from india and model is gtn-7000 and it is 4.0.3 official.
My concern and question is that i haven't rooted it yet and i have eMMc bug in my note.
Now,please tell can i update my note to official 4.0.4 firmware provided by sammobile with the help of ODIN.
I am little bit scared as my phone is eMMc bud affected,so i am afraid.
And lastly i wanna ask that if i would be succesful in updating my phone to 4.0.4,so can i downgrade it to 4.0.3 if needed in future?and what about my phone's warranty?i hope my phone's warranty wouldnt void if i update it to 4.0.4.
Thank you in advance.

Dear brother i appreciate what you have suggested me but m really a newbie and i have sgn which is very very precious for me.Battery is a issue for me but not that much.Actually, i wanna update my phone to 4.0.4 for its new offers and at the same time i don't wanna loose my warranty as if something will go wrong in phone in future, then i have to approach to service centre.so please tell me that is there any problem in flashing my phone as my phone is having eMMc bug.And i wanna update to 4.0.4 but only from official rom as sammobile is providing.....
I have suggested link is showing only official ROM, which samsung provides and that wont voids your warranty.
Just note everybody here have that emmc chip which you are talking about, if you are so affraid from it than stay on GB only. All ICS ROM available are not 100% safe as GB ROM. Still you want to update to ICS, you can but just avoid wipe and reset from stock ICS.
further to add, flashing ROM wont cause any brick, brick happens with wiping/hard restting on ICS.

I think that you should go through the threads which are meant for newcomers who want to play with their phone and roms so that you know how to recover your phone if something goes wrong because doing things without proper knowledge can change your phone into a beautiful paper weight.Go through the following thread which can give a clear idea about flashing official ICS for Germany but I strongly advice to think and proceed or probably wait for your country's turn to get official ICS...
Anyways here is the link...

Hello,
I've had iPhone and other Verizon android phones, but I'm pretty new for unlocked international version phone. (Sorry about the basic questions =[)
so I see my GNote version as "N7000UBKK1"
after some searching, I guess mine is south america version.
Is this right?
If I want to upgrade to ICS only for the stock version,
do I have to install German GB stock first then install ICS German one?
or can I just install ICS German one from N7000UBKK1?
Again, sorry for the basic question. It seems hard to find the information I need from sooo many threads here (from all kinds international versions)
and thank you ahead. =]
Hello,
in order to install the sock ICS on your note, you need to root your phone and seeing the basic questions you are asking you might want to wait for the official rom to come out to you country.
But if you are up for it I guess the easiest would be to check out this thread everything is really clear :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997
and to answer your question, you can just install the german ICS coming from any rom
You can directly flash the LPY or LPF rom using pc odin. LPY is the German release, LPF is for Taiwan/ Hong Kong. Be advised: LPY suffers definitely and LPF probably from a bug that can brick your device for good, making it necessary to get your main board replaced by Samsung (maybe you would have to pay for it).
If you don't need other languages than English I would go for LPF since so far there have clearly been less bricks than with LPY.
Once again: It is dangerous, there is a risk of bricking your device. Because you're a beginner it would probably be wise to stick with Gingerbread until Samsung releases a fixed version of ICS for the N7000.

Why is it necessary to root the Note to install ICS (LPY or LPF)? I he does not need/ want root access he can simply flash it using pc odin. Root access is definitely not a basic requirement to install ICS on a Note.

I don't think he will have any issues with bricking since he has a 'stock' device and only wants to upgrade to 'stock' ICS. Just flash the LPF through odin and is totally safe.

Since you are that much convinced that there is no bug in LPF and you can tell a person who is new to android flashing LPF is save I assume that you will gladly buy the op a new note if he bricks it because of your advice.
Like I already said I'm against panic and I run the LPY rom with a LPF kernel myself. But telling people it is save? What is your source? Your proof? There is none, LPF cannot be considered save. Ever heard of the I/O problem?

Thanks for the replies.
So, I can just odin the stock German ICS from my current stock GB?
and there's possibility that I might brick my phone?
P.S. I'm new to just international version phone so didn't know which country one I should look for or didn't know if I have to stick with my current country version to do anything, AND I've flashed many roms using odin when i had Galaxy Fascinate.
P.S. one more, and this is she not he.

Please be extra cautious flashing ICS ROMS. There are tons of threads on this forum with reports of bugs in the German and the Taiwanese ICS ROMs which damage data sectors on your device. I, along with several others, ended up bricking our devices due to the ICS ROMs. If you are new to Android and the flashing ROM scene, I would strongly advise you to wait until a reliable ICS ROM is released.

Hi iam a newbie
I have been seeing lots of thread where note users are willing to go back to GB from ICS
And also have seen threads with NOTE BRICKED with OFFICIAL ICS OTA GERMAN rom installed via kies or OTA .. And also about eMMC bug or somethkng i heard which requires the note to be send back to samsung.
I love my note on GB but ics is ics afterall thats why i want it but my question is and i apologise if it annoys anyone as i am a newbie
So if i change my region by the easiest method without any bricking risk of changing SCS TO DBT OPEN GERMAN and then upgrading to OFFICIAL ICS VIA KIES OR OTA so will all these errors, bugs and note getting bricked, eMMc bug etc etc
Are they likely to happen to me as well? ?
Or is ot only happening on those Galaxy note which have installed official ics open germany rom via odin and other risky ways. . Or only to those note who previously had rooted and were using on custom roms. .
So plz can anyone clear my confusion so i can finally decide weather or not to upgrade to ics. ..
tnx in advance
Details regarding my device : bought 3 weeks ago. Never rooted or used a custom rom and No intention of rooting or using custom rom in future.
Plz provide the advice so i can make a decision on weather or not to upgrade.

hello m8. Like u i'm also a newbie. I can tell you that i've recently bought my note, unlocked version.
Today i've rooted it twice, @ 1st using europe rom and then france rom with portuguese csc.
Rooted it teice because with the first riot in kies started to say that i couldnt upgrade it.
Then aftwr many reading i've decided to upgrade to 4.0.3. Used dr. Ketan guide in the dev section and worked fine on my phone. I've tested alnost everything and till the moment i have not encountered any bug or mal function.
But as they say in the post there are some reports of some bugs or even worst some notes that "died".
I leave here a screenshot after the update.
Cheers
Thnks for the info mate
But i really dont wish to root thats why after seeing the thread which said uograding by just changing region plua widout root thats what made me confident enuf to finally go ahead and upgrade and give it a try..
But still worries me as daily i see threads here created with someeones brick either stuck in odin or recovery etc or either bricked bc Of ics.
So i want ics the easiest way possible widout root and thats only possible by changing region using those codes and selecting DBT and then kies and OTA server treats ur note as a german made note and u can then upgrade to ics... So i wanted to know even those who have uograded this way hav they also the chance of getting these bugs and emmc errors brick etc
If yes then i will wait for a fixed update by samsung

Hi Guys
I have been waiting patiently now for nearly 2 months for the ICS upgrade from samsung for my unlocked australian Galaxy Note, and patience has run out. So can i use PC Odin and any of the other stock ICS roms from samsung like the HK ICS or the German ICS to upgrade my Note. Is there any risk in doing this and can i still in future put it to the Australian update when it comes out?
Thanks for your help.

The sample there is lp5, you can use any rom and replace it if you want. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997
It is safe if you follow the instruction carefully. Dont wipe data or factory reset while in ics rom. Read the warning in forum about ics and the safety procedure.

Hi guys, i've just bought a Samsung Galaxy S Advance I9070 and I'm a little confused. My previous phone was a Galaxy Ace S5830i, I had that phone rooted (but it was too easy, just flash a .zip file) and with a custom rom.
So I have some questions:
1) For now I just want to root my new phone but the methods that I found here are not too clear to me. I first saw this method, but my firmware is not there. My phone came with I9070UBLI1 (2.3.6 GB). So i can't root my phone? my kernel isn't even in sammobile.com/firmwares
2) I want to make a backup just in case before rooting, so, what recovery should I use with this phone? cwm? this? or which one?
3) What is "binary counter"? In galaxy ace that wasn't present.
4) I saw that in samsungfirmwares site there are some 4.1.2 kernels, but they are for Rusia. I'm from Chile. So can I flash the russian kernel? will I loose my signal, 3G or something? Do you recommend upgrade to JB? with stock russian or a custom rom?
5) Do you recommend a custom kernel? which one? This looks nice
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I hope you can help me with those questions (numering your answers just like i did with my questions), I just want to enjoy a lot my new phone. :good:

Since you say that you are used to xda, i don't see any reasonable explanation for the creation of this thread!
Read the forums. All answers are in the stickies..

I read the forums, but I'm still confused, for example, for rooting, in the thread that I linked in 1) there isn't the firmware that came with my phone, so I went to here, there isn't neither, then I read this post, but to do that I need dowload my phone's firmware, but the one that came with my phone there isn't in samsungfirmares web page, so I suppose I can flash anyone for Chile (my country), there are 2, but idk if they will work, so, if I'm going to take that risk I need to make a backup first, but idk what recovery I should use.
I have a mental bootloop

I bought my phone in January.
Then became member of xda in january.
Flashed russian jb all releases as they released in February.
Rooted my phone in same month.
Started using kernels in same month.
Started tweaking in same month.
And now i am really happy with my phone's performance.
As i was new to android and xda i have done all this because i was not worried about my warranty.
In short, go ahead don't think so much.
