Nandriod backup doesnt work! Big problem pls help - LG Optimus 2x

hi guys i think im in big big truble!!!!
So my Lg 2x is 4 days old and yesterday i decided to test the cyanogend 7,2 stable mod.......i did my nandriod backup all the wipes and installed
succesfully the cyanogenmod. When i started the phone with the new mod i copied the backup file ( clockworkmod/backup/2012-07-
21.23.45.28 ) to my laptop and i did a format ( sadly) to my sd card!!! I tested the cyanoged mod for a few hours and the i decided to return to my
previus stock rom using the nandroid backup.....so i copied the backup file and only this from my laptop to sc card. I started the phone in
recovery
i did the restore and hit reboot....on the reboot the phone stayed on the lg logo screen!!!! i tryied to restore again but nothing....every time i start the phone
stays at the lg logo screen.....of course i cant reinstall cyanogemod using zip file from sd card because i did that format on sd remember? Thats
it guys you are the only one who can help me , next step is to send it to Lg with no qaranty of caurse

Maybe you backup is corrupt
Just download the cm7 rom and flash it. Y u cant do this ?

As far as I know CyanogenMod uses the ext4 filesystem. That would mean that you'd have to convert your phone back to an ext3 system.
You can find a ZIP-file for doing so here [sorry, can't post links yet];
modaco.com/topic/336318-11-nov-r2-backtoext3-for-converting-your-device-er-back-to-ext3/
Put it on your SD-card, flash it and restore your backup once again. It should work if your backup isn't corrupt.

Thanks for your answers guys...the problem is that doing the format on sd now the sd is empty and because i cant start the phone there is no way to put the cyano zip file or the ext3 system.zip file!!!! Only think i can do its to go tomorrow and buy a sd adaptor for my laptot and put the files inside hoping that when i enter in recovery i can see those files and do the cyano reinstallation! What do you think it will work?........sorry for my poor english!

I still think that you have to convert your current ext4 filesystem to ext3. I've had a similar problem once until I realized that CM uses ext4 and my previous ROM (stock) isn't ext4. After the conversion and the restoration everything worked fine again.
Don't you have a micro-SD adapter? Those things are pretty damn useful. Get one, they're not even expensive.
Get that adapter, put your micro SD in it, copy the ext3 conversion ZIP onto your micro sdcard, take it out of the adapter and then put it in your phone. Boot into the recovery, install ZIP from sdcard and then choose the ZIP that you put on your sdcard a minute ago. Let it do the work and wait until it finishes. Once it finishes just restore your nandroid backup and it should work perfectly fine again.

Noob Question sorry (its about apps2sd)

Ok so I rooted and flashed the recovery image. Now I want to apply the MoDaCo Custom Hero ROM. Whats the easiest way to partition the SD card to allow apps2SD?
When I was in the recovery mode there were partition options can it from there or do I have to go on the desktop and use the cmd prompt?
Just use the partition option in recovery.
Thank you for the quick response
hmmm apps2sd is not working. I got the Rom to work fine but before i flashed the rom I partitioned fat32+ext2+swap in the recovery screen so I can have apps2sd access and it does not work
Ok got the Apps2sd to work, but how can I see both partitions. I can't can only see the update.zip folder, footprints. and some other file but my music and photos are nowhere to be found and the Nanodroid back up. I did copy the nanodroid back up to my phone, but should it still be there on the main partition? Help please.

As should be obvious, partitioning the sdcard erased what was there.
2 things
1. Windows won't see that EXT3 Partition, it's not support by Microsoft.
2. The format to FAT SWAP EXT wipes the ENTIRE CARD, nandroid backups included.
I do an Nandroid anytime I go to mess with something in Shell or load a ZIP. Here in the past few days it seems like I do 2 or 3 a day lol.
More than likely you have a card larger than 2 gigs and the backups seem to be realativly small. I copy all of mine to a folder on my computer and Rename them with a small descript of the Rom build and Date. So I know what it is I can load back.

[Q] sd card wont mount

Hello all,
Trying to restore my sd card to working order and im kinda stumped.Ive googled the problem and cant seem to get anything to work.
This happened after flashing cm6 blue rom and this was the first rom ive ever flashed. I used the universal androot method to root and rom manager to flash the rom. The rom works beautifully and I was able to go into recovery and flash ggaps even though phone isnt mounting to sd card. When I go to sd card in settings and click mount it say preparing sd card and then reverts back to safe to remove sd card. Any help would be great! thanks
Take the card out and Wen ur phone is on pull the battey out wait a few min reboot the phone back up with out then repeat this again this time wen the battery is out put the SD card back in reboot in recovery the home and power button way then wipe file ext and reboot might work might not worth a try
Root-Hack-Mod-Always™
Do you have a SD card reader in your PC? Have you tried taking the SD card out of your phone, putting it into your PC, and formatting it? Copy everything that's on it to your desktop first, then format it, then recopy the files back to the card after the format. Then try putting it back in your phone. That may solve your problem.
Also , if you're recovery is reading it to flash gapps, then it may be the rom install. If all else fails, try a compete wipe and reflash

Thank you for the replies, I'm gonna head out to best buy and pic up a card reader and then ill try your sugestions. Hope this works!ill keep you posted.
Thanks again!
Its All fixed! The formating took care of it. Thank you guys for the help

[HOWTO]Change SD with app2sd

Upgrading/Changing of memory/SD cards while using App2SD?
Here's how.
What you need:
-Rooted
-Drellisdee's ThunderG custom recovery(preferably v1.2)
-Card Reader(Optional)
Steps:
-Boot into recovery
-In recovery menu, select "Backup/Restore" then "Nand + ext backup".(If you are using an ext4 app2sd partition, ThunderG v1.2 is a MUST)
-Now with any means suitable to you, transfer the "nandroid" folder found on your SD to your PC.(the easiest way is to mount USB-ms via recovery, but for some reason this option doesn't work for me)
-Now turn off your phone and insert the NEW SD.
-Boot into recovery again and partition your new SD(for app2sd).
-Now again, with any means suitable to you, transfer the "nandroid" folder you just copied to your PC back to the new SD.
-In recovery menu, select "Backup/Restore" then "Nand restore", choose the file to restore(in most cases, there is only one option)
-Wait for it, now reboot.
-Enjoy!
Custom Recovery
ThunderG v1.2
man! you woke up early for this?
kudos!!!! now everyone can happily change/upgrade their cards...

now this doesnt seem right... i mean, it has to work.
hhmm.. mine does. im on thunderG too.
maybe youre lacking drivers for it.... have you checked you device manager?
------------------
EDIT ok i get it. i dont have the V1.2 will try to install later on.
maybe the new recovery has the problem.. and not your PC...
---------------------------------
more EDIT
ok ive just installed V1.2 and yes i can confirm that the USB toggle under recovery works for me.
now the next thing to try is upgarade to a higher capacity card... *lol*
nice one Ungaze!
lol, up late seems more like it.
usb-toggle issue might be usb driver related.
havent flashed the firmware yet so i didnt have the need to install the drivers as well.
i also used this method to revert my app2sd partition from ext4 to ext2. so it also works with different partition filesystem, someone can maybe test if it also works with different partition size.
thats backing up and restoring right?
maybe ill try it on ext4...
anyway, why convert back to ext2? is there any significance?

was doing a test, and speed-wise there is a slight improvement. about 50 - 80 points on I/O using quadrant. Although really unnoticeable and I don't really rely on quadrant that much, performance seems to be just the same.(OptimusXrom maker domenic_s also uses ext2).
i see.. maybe one time ill try to do ext2.. hehehe
theres not much happening with our O1 today ei?!
so i need to do something... hehehe errr experiment on something...
*lol*
now thats weird.. after rebooting the second time to recovery...
i cant find my files under Flash zip files...
seems like only system folders are installed....
I just used EASEUS Todo Backup to clone old sd card (with partition ext 4, i think) to new sd card.
It copied everything on the old sd card to new sd card and it works flawlessly.
The software is free for home user.

good for you. just sharing how I did it since changing SDs are becoming pretty common nowadays.
ungaze, after installing the recovery...
and rebooting it via adb, i can still access the files on my sd card. like for example i want to install a new theme etc etc using Flash ZIP menu on V1.2
but after rebooting the second time.
i cant see the files anymore... just folders....
im not into changing cards. but i just want to install something using V1.2 recovery.
and somehow i cannot see my zip files inside Flash ZIP menu.
thats the place to look for when i want to install flashable zips right?
I see, I think I know what you mean.
One of the new features of ThunderG v1.2 recovery is the ability to recognize folders when choosing a zip file to flash. Well that's good, but the problem is that it still doesn't have the option to scroll down when the screen/list is full(or maybe I just havent found out yet). I also had this problem before, so what I did was to make a new folder with a higher alphabetical priority name, eg: "aaflash", "aflashfiles", "1flash" etc so that the folder will always appear at the top. Then I placed all my zip files into that folder and just open the folder when I need to apply something. Try it, the files should appear.
yap. someone told me that too... and so i did.. and yes it can be read...
but we can still consider that a bug.
and i think the author needs to edit that part.
anyhow. its working fine....
What does this do? Is this the way we can move all our apps to sd card??? Please im desperate

Actually, I can't really call it a convertion, I just backed up the SD contents, format it, repartition ext2 than put the old contents back in place. Update: Ext2 on optimusXrom's app2sd doesnt seem to work, didn't checked thoroughly and app2sd got disabled. Need to contact domenic on how he did this.

Issue with TWRP Recovery and back up of Nandroid Plz Help

I am running ARHD 10.1 based on JB 4.2.2. and my recovery is TWRP. The issue I am having started when I updated the rom from 9 something to 10.1. It was recommended that I back up the sd and then restore it back on the phone after the rom flash. I deleted everything from the sd card and then transferred the files to make sure the the files don't get corrupt if it was merged. However, this method was a headache and some files were harder to transfer. After I got everything back to normal I noticed one thing. My old back up of nandroid are still in the sd card, but don't show up in recovery and my new back after the transfer of files to sd card do not show up in the TWRP back up file in the sd card, but I can see the new backup of nandroid in recovery. Why is that. I looked everywhere in the sd card and I can't find any other place it will save them. So where did my phone save them and where can i find it in the sd card?
its /data/media/clockworkmod/backup for cwm but im not sure about twrp

In my phone after JB 4.2.2 , the TWRP backups saved in the folder storage/emulated/0/TWRP
If nothing ,try to check data/media/twrp or data/media/0/twrp

I found the new back ups in data/media/0/twrp, but I only see it in the file manager in twrp. The folder is shown empty on es explorer with the phone turned on and I do not see phone files when plugged into the computer, only sd. How can I view phone files on the computer.
You need ES set to root explorer to view the contents of /data

Yes, you need root permissions for access to /data/media...
In general, something not so with your phone (file system), the path /data/media/0/twrp and path /storage/emuleted/0/twrp are "symlink". My advise, after you will take backup, keep all applications and data and make factory reset with formatting of internal sd under JB 4.2.2.

Nook HD 10.2.1 Can't access external SD

Hello,
It's my first post here.
I have a Nook HD rooted with 10.2.1. We I rooted the Nook, I made an external copy to the PC of the stock rom.
All was OK, until I tried to upgrade to cmw 11.
It gave me an Status 7 error and was imposible to upgrade.
Then I went back to the 10.2.1, but now the external SD Card is not mounted. I can't format it from the Recovery menu.
I can't read it from the Nook. I tried 3 different SD cards, but always the same.
The recovery CMW is 6.0.3.6.
When I try to format the SD card from it, it says "Error mounting /external_SD!"
When I enter the Nook in normal mode, the SD Card can not be activated. It detects the SD Card, bau can't do anything.
¿Any idea or help?
Thx!!
UPDATE: I have boot into normal mode, downloaded de Recovery CWM-5 (Recovery 6.0.4.6), and installed it from the internal memory.
After that, I succeeded on installing the CM11-M6, but still the same issue.
Can't activate/access/mount/format the SD Card, from the Android "Activate card" or from the recovery menu "Format" or "mount".
I also formatted it with SDFormatter, but nothing changes.
The SD card it's ok, as I can write/read from the PC.
I have 3 of them: Samsung, Sandisk and Trascend. None of them is recognized, and before I had no problems with them and CM 10.1
Well,
I think is finished!
I had a problem with Google apps, and installed them again, but I had at the internal memory the 4.3 GApps, and I didn't take care of the version!.
Instead of the correct GApps for the 4.4, I installed the previous one.
After installing them, I always have now "unfortunately, Android Keyboard (Aosp) Has Stopped"
So I have no keyboard!!!!
As I can't use the external SD (It doesn't work), I tried to download from the CM11 Nook the correct GApps version, but I have not keyboard to write the internet address!!! I can not indeed write the wifi password!
I have then tried to install ADB, but I can not see the Nook under "adb devices".
I'm in the point of sending the nook to the recycled bin!
Any idea of an easy solution?
Many thanks!
Dang lots of trouble. I would suggest just sticking with CM 10.2.1 for now.

Hello,
That's what I want, to go back to 10.2.1.
But the Recovery 6.0.4.6 dos not permit to install the 10.2.1, only 11.
I would like to download to the internal memory the Recovery 4 (6.0.3.6), but as I don't have keyboard (wrong GApps installed), can't write the web address. And the external SD card doesn't work too.
The only solution I see is ADB, but when I plug the Nook HD to the PC, nothing happens. There is no change in the Management console of Administration Devices....
Don't know really what to do.!

Did you go to my HD/HD+ CWM thread linked in my signature and make a bootable CWM SD per item 1a there? If you did, what are the results?
Sent from my BN NookHD+ using XDA Premium HD app
Thank you for your response.
I did what you said, making a bootable CWM as your 1a tip, but nothing happens.
The external SD card is like death.
The Nook boots on the normal CM11 mode, and never on the Card Boot mode.
But I have made some new advancement:
I realized that I can connect the Nook and the computer through Bluetooth!
So I sent to the Nook the correct GApps for the CM11, and reboot in recovery mode, installed it from the internal memory, and now I have keyboard again.
The situation now: I have the CM11-M6 installed, Recovery 6.0.4.6 and GApps gapps-kk-20140105.
But, the external SD card doesn't work. The Nook detects it, but can not activate it.
If I enter the Recovery mode, you can´t mount or format the SD card.
I have saved at the PC the Nook Stock Backup I made before rooting the Nook.
If I copy that folder to the internal memory and make a Restore BackUp, do you think that the SD card problem should be fixed?
May be the SD card problem is related to the Nook partitions. I read something about that but don't remember where. But don't really now if the Restore Stock is going to fix the partitions.
I don't want to make another step without consulting you!
Thanks!

I doubt it is a partition problem causing the SD read issue. But getting back to stock may help. It could just be a glitch with CM11. You might also try cleaning the SD contacts and blowing out the slot with air.

I tried three different cards from 3 brands. They all work perfectly at the computer, but not on the Nook!
I've not tried to blow air in the slot... i'll do it
I think, if that doesn't work, i'll try to go to the Stock Backup.

How can I restore the saved backup?
I have copied the backup folder yo the internal memory. After I boot into recovery. I choose Restore, but directly it says that there is no file.
Is there any special way of restoring the stock backup without using the sd card?

Yes it has to be put in a special place for CWM to see it. CM and CWM use different spots for the backups. CM uses /data/media/0/clockworkmod/backup and CWM uses /data/media/clockworkmod/backup. Notice the extra 0 folder. You will have to use your root file manager to be able to put the backup in the correct location so CWM can find it.

I have no success!
As I'm using CWM, I have to place the files at /data/media/clockworkmod/backup/.
I have some questions (I've tried all possibilities, but without success)
1. I have a saved backup folder (named with the date I made the backup) with .tar archives, etc. Do I have to place at the clockworkmod/backup the .tar files directly or the backup saved folder?
2. I can't find the /data/media/clockworkmod/backup folder.
I have a clockworkmod folder at /storage/sdcard0/clockworkmod. It seems to be the same as /mnt/sdcard/clockworkmod.
That clockworkmod folder is at the sdcard folder, with other folder as Alarms, Android, DCIM, etc...
At the folder level where are folders like bootdata, cache, mnt, root, etc, there is a folder named "data", but is empty, and can't write inside it.
Is it that one where I have to place /data/media/clockworkmod/backup/??
3. Can't find a folder called "media".
4. I have installed your file NookHD-CWM-6036-for-internal-memory-rev2-(03-08-14).zip as Recovery.
But I have read at your tips, that for restoring the Stock, you have to use NookHD-emmc-stock-recovery-rev0-(07.21.13). I have done nothing with that file... Is for your information, in case I'm doing something wrong.
5. As information also, when I enter the Recovery mode (6.0.3.6), there is always a message "Warning: No file_contexts".
6. Another thing!! I think that the Backup I'm trying to Restore was made with a previous CWM... that one for the CM10.1 (may be it was CWM-Recovery-2).
Could it be the problem?
Thanks again!

In order to access the /data folder you have to be using a root file manager (try root browser lite from Play Store). That is why /data looks empty without one.
Do not use the clockwork folder in /sdcard. It must be the one in /data/media.
That stock recovery zip is for restoring stock recovery. You only flash that if you want internal CWM replaced with stock recovery.
And under backup should be the folder that was created when you backed up. Usually a date. The .tar files are inside that.
Don't worry about the last two items.

Wow, I'm sooooo noob!!
I had already installed ES3 file explorer, and didn't find the Root User mode. Now it's activated and really can see the data/media folder.
I'm moving now the backup folder to the media folder and in some minutes I post the results (I see that It's very slow and the backup is 2gb size, and will take at least 30minutes to transfer)
Many thanks!!!
Welllll....:crying::crying::crying::crying:
I have successfully restored the Nook to the Stock Rom.
But the problem with the SD Card persists.
I bought a new SD Card, and now I have 4 different brands and sizes cards.
And with all of them I have the same issue: Damaged card. You have to format it. And after formatting, always "Damaged card"...
:crying::crying::crying:
I think is a hardware problem. Something is broken...
Thank you anyway for your help!!!
