Hi guys, I just got my Galaxy Ace from my mom a month ago(She used it for a couple of months but was too "complex" for her that's why she just gave it to me). Anyway, I'm the type of person who wants to explore and unlock the full potential of things. The first thing I did when I received the phone was research about stuff like how to modify it, etc. I was able to successfully root(there's a "super user" icon in the menu) it. Today, I thought it'd be nice to add some metro ui theme on it. So I I downloaded 7 launcher from the play store. But, was not satisfied because it felt like it was only a "skin" and didn't changed the overall feeling of the phone. That's the time I started digging dipper into the realm of Android and came across this thing called "ROM"....
I followed an online guide on how to install roms. First, i downloaded the rom i wanted(it's called "WP7") and placed it at the root of my sd card. Just like what the tutorial suggested(in case something goes wrong), I made a "nandroid" with the use of Clock Work Mod. I then saved a copy of the nandroid into my computer just to be EXTRA safe. Everything seems to be in order so I proceeded with the operation. I accessed the recovery menu, and selected "wipe cache partition" and "wipe data/factory reset". After that, I went to "install zip from sd card" and selected the zip file. Everything went well. After the update, I rebooted the phone and it was successful.
The Problem
I checked the whole new ui design and it was what I expected it to be. But then, I immediately missed the old ui, so i decided to go back to the stock os/kernel/(whatever you guys call it ). I went to the recovery menu and selected "backup and restore". I chose the nandroid I just made through CWM. After loading, I rebooted my phone and bam... this is where my problem is. The Phone's name and model number appears in the screen but it's not loading. I waited for 2 minutes and nothing happened. So I restarted the phone by holding the power button and volume up. I accessed the recovery menu again and examined if I missed a step. After browsing the net, I concluded that I didn't wipe the cache and data before restoring . So I wiped both cache partition and data. I selected the nandroid and then rebooted the phone again. But, the boot loop is still there . I tried it again and again. Wiping, Restoring Rebooting. But the boot loop won't go away.
So I wiped it again but this time, I didn't select the nandroid and instead I went back to the new WP7 rom i just downloaded. My phone didn't do a boot loop and my phone is okay now. I'm stuck with my new rom for about an hour now. I'm starting to get used to it. Anyway, even though things are stable now and i'm on my new rom, I think it's still nice to go back to the phone's original kernel/os . Any ideas on how I can restore back my phone to the original/stock kernel/os without experiencing the boot loop? Or can you give me the causes why I'm experiencing the boot loop? My guess is, I think there's a problem with the nandroid I used. The wp7 rom doesn't experience any boot loop but when it comes to my nandroid, there's a boot loop.
Thanks in advance and sorry if it's too long to read. I just wanted it to be accurate and clear for you guys .
The only way would be flashing through Odin.

Search for your previous ROM around and flash it.
Here's a good TUTORIAL on how to flash ROMs
The only way to flash a stock rom is odin (its a pc program) .
after you flash back to stock, you should Be able to restore your nandroid backup without getting the bootloop
(at least, i'm pretty sure, can someone confirm this?)
Im sure ull find a guide on how to use odin somewhere on xda.

Hey guys. I came across a rom called stocklite and I was able to successfully install it. My new rom seems to speed up my phone and prolong its battery life. All of the bloatware that came with the stock os isn't present this rom. I don't think i'll be returning to the original stock os. So yeah, I appreciate all your help and cheers to everyone
is your keyboard ok in stocklite ROM
I can't type alphabets in 3*4 mode .
Now using s3 evolution beta3

I know you're happy with your current ROM but just an FYI, I went through a similar process trying to unlock a T-Mo Samsung Dart T499 (similar to Mini/Galaxy Ace). I just flashed stock ROM via ODIN and it boot looped on me. After reading this post I went into stock recovery and clear cache partition and factory reset and voila!
So this post actually inspired me a bit! Haha! Thanks!
as already said, the batter way to solve that problem is clean up your device is flash a stock rom with Odin,
but then, you will need remake root, and install a CWM....
good Luck !!
Hi,
much do you need help. I wanted to upload mobile CM10, but I needed to upload ClockworkMod, I recorded over using recovery mode installation. Zipper And then I have restarted my mobile and still it shows the Samsung GALAXY Ace GT-S5839I and wants to get away. I tried to remove the torch, delete data, but so far it does not help. You do not know what to do?
Thank you in advance for your help.
Cant understand a word...please tell it properly so that I can help you!
BTW how did u get CM10 on the S5839i??

Looks like the OP tried to flash cm10 on the wrong phone, and now has bootloop.
Fix it with odin, flash a stock firmware.

Is the odin flashable zip there in for this new variant? He has a "S5839i" which is newer than "S5830i".

Hello! My friend's phone basically bricked while flashing. I did root first with stock recovery method, then i installed 6.0.1.4 touch cwm, which installed fine, but bootlooped to recovery(normal). I downloaded 6.0.2.6(which appeared as 6.0.2.7 in recovery), transferred it to ext sdcard, then installed it. No more bootloop(after datawipe), but now it said that too little memory, cannot perform this action. I checked it from settings, no memory was mounted? Weird. Well, i did as i promised to my friend, installed remics jb v2, and gapps. Starts fine, incredibly fast compared to stock! Now i take the phone to my friend, and then he puts his sim card in, askes pin code, entered. Now, there is still nothing in signal bars. I check phone info, no imei(000000...00) imei sv 00. I tried to install stock again, nothing. Would using only phone to install recovery and others affect this? Because i have done several flashings with this model and always has worked. But then i had computer in use. Help please, i told him that it has it's own risks, i do not take responsibility. I have no efs backup, that's the problem. It usually takes backup automatically. Thanks!
P.s. Sorry for possible typos, i'm writing this on my tablet.

Try to install broodrom rc5 rev2 via odin. I think it can resolve your problem.

Try a non-touch one.
Hi xda community. I'll try to explain exactly what I did and what's happening.
I flashed Cyanogenmod and everything went fine. As the latest Nighty became available, I downloaded it and tried to apply the update. I'm using Philz Touch as recovery. The update process started as usual, but then it stopped when it was almost done. I rebooted recovery and it begun again to install the update without success at all.
I've opened Odin and tried to re flash the recovery, hopping that I would be able to get to the normal Philz Touch recovery and it started (again) the update process.
I've ticked NANDROID full wipe and flashed the recovery again and I got the recovery menu. I performed a Nandroid restore, and recovery couldn't mount the /data partition.
I've realized that the /efs partition wasn't mounted. I manually mounted it and Nandroid backup successfully restored everything.
Ripper ROM (Samsung Based) booted up well, and I had to flash a modem since I didn't have signal. I thought everything was fine. But now as soon as I install a new ROM (either Sammy Based or AOSP) I lose my IMEI and get in Factory Mode.
I've tried restoring efs from backup and it didn't work. The only way I get it to work is restoring from Nandroid backup.
Can anybody help me please?

Does Ripper Rom use Perseus kernel perhaps? If so, join us over here.

Yeah, I'm running that kernel...is that perhaps what's causing the problem with the /efs partition?
Edit: tried to flash another kernel and got no signal but as long as I flash Perseus it works!
Why is this happening???

Beats me mate, myself along with a couple others are having the same exact problem. We have no idea what is going on. Discuss possible solutions in the thread I linked.

Does that means that I'm now stuck on that kernel?

Yes, join the club.
So, does this mean those of us haven't got this error should stay away from the Perseus kernel?

Just out of curiosity, what happens if you install a non-Perseus kernel?
Hello.
I have a galaxy ace gt-s5830i, I have rooteado and rom and doing great, has never given me problems, my father has the gt-s5830 and the other day he asked me to release him (because he was of movistar) and to put a rom, so I did root and released him, then I started to put a rom, enter CWM and did a backup (which I thought had done well) and I started to install the rom `` cm10.1 cr1'', I deleted all three and proceeded to install, installed, rebooted but the screen was blue and not moving, I reentered the CWM and tried installing another rom but none worked, after spend one tried installing roms whole day I decided to restore from the backup, but in doing so gave me error, the backup was not done right, I searched the internet and restored a backup, the problem is that the backup was a gt-s5830L starts nor I've been looking and can not find any for gt-s5830, I also tried to put the stock rom from odin but the pc does not recognize me mobile. Now to not let me install roms. Not if it is bricked. Not under warranty.
It's urgent.
Greetings.

You say that you own a S5830i!!!
You can not install any S5830 ROMs on it. I think that you also installed the S5830 (without the i) CWM.
That's why your device is bricked. If you flash any other ROM again, install a S5830i ROM.
So this is not the right forum for it. This is the forum for the "normal" S5830.
Try flashing the CWM for the i Version.
Good luck!
I've solved, I put the cwm of cyanogen and cyanogen mod 7 installed and it works, thank you very much for the help.
