This problem only exists with Android phone not Windows computers, Nokia Express music phone...
I can't download huge files more or less 10MB because the internet virtually disconnects even the wifi connection is still okay on this TL-WR941N and also happens on some android devices like Xperia Ray.
On MOST routers, my Xperia X8 (MiniCM7 2.1.1, nAa-13), it has a decent connection with less failure of cutting my downloads than our router.
So I'm suspecting the 'AUTO' settings of this TL-WR941N which could be the reason why my phone disconnects when I'm downloading using BROWSERS (Downloading) and OSU!DROID (Downloadind beatmaps) while in GOOGLE PLAY, it doesn't...
If you do KNOW why, please RECOMMEND me the best settings and also I want to keep the BGN mixed because my Xperia X8 and other X8 (Stock ROM) does connects with N standard but speed like B standard... even with the N standard mod... useless mod...
In short, it IS connected to Wifi but there IS NO internet connection after it cuts my download (It only happens on our router)...
I need some advise...
PS: Happens on MiniCM7, MiniCM9, PrimeHD. On stock ROM, it has good connection though... I don't personally like GDX due to personal problem of the ROM, sorry about that... I don't want to return to 2.1...
I have the same router as you, and I never had this problem. You have the latest firmware on the router?

Pppoe is my internet connection.Take a look. Do update the firmware. If you compare the first image, you'll see the firmware is very old at you.

Somehow, it can now download smoothly... Some apps with the same problem is also fixed... Problem is now FIXED.
I appreciate your hard work for helping me out.

Hello to you all
I tried to search, no luck. (maybe just missed the solution if any)
I have problems with wifi.
I can connect to wifi network, (ip is set to device, I can see it in router statistic) but none of the programs that connect to internet.
opera, iexplorer, facebook...........qGPS... are not working. like no connection.
I am using Energy.XPERIA.23678.Sense2.5.Cookie.Aug18, and same happens on my other X1 with Energy.XPERIA.21903.Sense2.5.Cookie.May.09
I also tried other roms. on original it was working I flashed other roms and I have this problem. tried too many still the same problem.
I always erase all (tool29 or how its called) before flashing, always hard reset.
my radio is: 1.14.25.55
I tried to connect to different networks, still the same. even on my home network (that I know all configurations) its not working.
thank you for help and your time.
---------------
its definetly not the router issue, tried restart all things. I can manage my router (I can see the device connected in router table), I tried to set wifi on X1 to performance also other way to quality(or how its called). no luck. but its not router issue. I tried it with open router (no security at all- diferent devicess can connect.), also tried to set different wifi standards no luck.
I have the same problem on 2 phones both are X1. tried different roms. still the same. my other HTCkaiser can connect no problem.
It's occurred in my Vaio. Hahaha. I thought it's the router issue,

No I mean, I have the same problem like yours but it occurs in my Vaio not X1. Not so sure why but I think it's router issue, it's not your device's fault. Just opinion.
In standard communication manager set max performance for wi-fi. I don't know where is it on energy rom but must be in windows folder.
(Sory for my english)
same
have the same problem with one of my x1s after I've flashed an energy rom/ It's not the routers fault, the other X1 works fine with it /So, is there any solution for this/ have tried a lots of roms after that, but it didn't solved the problem/ The x1 connects to the routers but can not use any of them / The routers are all unsecured, no key needed to use them.
I had the same issue, my solution was to change the settings by taking firewall off router through your pc and make it a open network till you connect wifi from your phone to the router then once thats done and you have tested the internet then you can switch back on the firewall settings and your good to go.
Yes!!!

Don't mean to interrupt, Change the router performance (Router is the WiFi not the phone X1) different router (WiFi device that shares internet) means different setup.
Out of topic, contrary from mymailx, I have different problem. When my X1 can use the WiFi well, but my tablet and pc can't use the WiFi, it is connected but can't access internet (yellow exclamation at WiFi icon at taskbar). odds. I have restarted ever settings.
My wifi is constantly getting disconnected. I have to reconnect many times a day. This is really getting frustrating. It was working fine(very much FINE) on froyo 2.2.1 xxkb3 rooted and deodexed but after i updated to 2.3.4 gingerbread, this problem began! Is there someone who might be knowing what the problem is????
First i tried stock XXKPH, then i tried after CF root and after that i thought a custom ROM might help so i installed GanaROM but wifi is not working properly in any one of them. It is getting diconnected if i don't use it for like 5-10 minutes. And i have even turned the wifi sleep policy in the advanced wifi settings to NEVER. But still!!

I have the problem like this. Can you try to ping 8.8.8.8 from console of your phone? I have almost 80% of lost packets. If you will see this, you have to change your WiFi router. I've tested my phone with 3 routers and only with Asus 520GU I can't use WiFi with GB (with Froyo all is perfect)

Hi
Like in the title : The wifi in my S+ keeps randomly disconnecting, on various roms (starting from branded play 2.3.4 rom, then on 2.3.5, and now on 2.3.6)
What seems to be the problem ? is it hardware fault ?
I read, in few other threads, that other people, had in some kind of way a similiar problem...

try to assign staitc ip............it happened in i9003 too
download a root explorer, go to data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf and set: update_config to 0 and priority to 1, it doesn't solve the problem but it gets a little better

Here comes super mega answer, which is worth finding Thank You button -
1.) Open dialer and enter *#*#526#*#*
2.) Come back and say that your wifi works without any issues.

Yeah there are plenty of those codes actually.
for example:
*#*#7780#*#* factory reset
*2767*3855# factory format (everything wiped, also the internal sd card)
*#*#1575#*#* gps test
*#*#1234#*#* pda phone version
*#*#1111#*#* fta sw version
*#0*# lcd test (cool one )
*#*#2664#*#* touchscreen test
they should work on every android device. try google to find more
Thanks mate

This was exactly the cure for the problem, I can also confirm it. I tried several things, such as exchanging config files between several ROMs, what a waste of time
But I'm still wondering why 2.3.4-2.3.6 can not work with forever leasing time... It's bad.
p.s.: for me no static IP needed for proper work
Thanks for sharing this BackDaws!

It was a 2.3.5 issue also
Now everything runs smooth as hell ;>
Hey there!
I recently rooted my I900 (which I had never updated before) using SuperOneClick and everything worked just fine. Now I decided to update the firmware to 2.3.1 using Kies and it worked(my root is gone, but I knew that), but now I have run into a problem: I lose my wifi connection every 40-60 seconds or so, which makes online games or downloads impossible. The Wifi symbol dissappears for a few seconds and then returns, the internet works again instantly, but, as I said, any download or the like is cancelled. I tried getting a static IP adress and turning WLAN standby mode off, but to no avail. What seems to be the problem? What can I do? I would like to fix that without formatting anything, if that is possible.
Thank you very much in advance,
WittyWhiteFox

why not update it to 2.3.6 First, normally KIES will update to the latest for your region, so check here for your region or use webversion of Check Fus 2.0 ROM Downloader
Thanks for your answer.
In fact, I already have updated to 2.3.6(instead of 2.3.1), I made a stupid mistake there, sorry ' bout that.
But I managed to fix it, turns out my static IP configurations where somewhat off. I used a guide I found (but can't post here because I'm new) and now everything works just fine. So, yeah, my problem's solved, sorry for wasting your time. ^^

i had the same problem with sony xperia zr, and some other guys had it too, there is something seriously messed up with sony wifi drivers...
good part is it apears to be a software issue and can be fixed if sony whould give a damn...

here is a detailed post about it, although sony told this guy eventually it was a hardware problem i'm pretty sure it's not, had the same issue on my zr, flashing a new firmware usually fixed it for 3-4 days untill it began again.
i suspected it was some app that i installed that messed up the wifi, anyway i got a new xperia z1 and my zr went to my sister, after a factory reset wifi works fine for her now...... so no idea actually...

My problem was most likely HW, because flashing new firmware including the one in the service centre did not work. But it looks like Sony has a lot of problems with the Wi-Fi chips in general - so the range of possible errors is quite broad. If it was a software problem, hopefully new update fixes it.
EDIT: The Xperia article is the most popular article by far on my website - which is sad.

Hi all just wanna share with you all to all the Xperia ZR users who are facing problem to connect to any 2.4GHz networks. This is an official solution I found after weeks of testing and research. In the end, the driver is not loaded properly or by default, custom ROM created the havoc. So this is a solution finally will end all the Xperia ZR owners WiFi woes:
I noticed that when running ADB GUI, there is this file missing from /System/Data/Misc/WiFi called "WCNSS_qcom_cfg.ini" .
I'm using ADB Helper Version 4.2.0.0, under BUILD.Prop Viewer tab, choose wlan.driver.config it points to that location. I downloaded somewhere from Xperia developer forum website. Then i modified and modified until i found the solution.
in this file modified the line gDotMode=3 (which is running in N mode only) to either 1 or 2 which s "a" or "b" mode.
I reboted the device and the wifi works and N mode is disabled meaning you wont be able to connect in 5GHz mode anymore. But you will be able to connect to all the CURRENT 2.4GHz AP ...yayyy!!! I read somewhere where ICS android allows you to Enable or Disable 5GHz scanning of AP. But later were removed. 4.3 updates sometimes also i found out will WIP this configuration or maybe Developer forgotten to include this as well. I hope Sony Xperia developers will look into this.
Now, my phone can connect to any 2.4GHz WiFi.. I would be willing to help just drop me an email at [email protected].

Re: Somehow it worked for me...
I faced the same Bluetooth & Wi-Fi problem...
For Bluetooth I have got the replacement..
For wi-fi.. I did the tethering..
I created the Hot Spot in another phone and then access that hot-spot from my Xperia ZR..
Luckily it obtained the IP address of Hot-spot and started working
Then without switching off the wi-fi of my phone, I deleted the Hot-Spot connection and tried to access my already created wi-fi router setup fom ZR...
It clicked and started obtaining the IP address of my router..and its working fine from that day...
