Is it possible to use Google Maps with Samsung Chinese TTS when Traditional Chinese is chosen?
-------------------------------
I'm using Google Maps 6.9.0 [Ownhere Mod + World Navigation Activated], and it works!
At the same time, Samsung Chinese TTS also does it job just fine.
But when I try to activate Chinese vocal navigation with Google Maps, it says nothing but a sound effect, ding-ding to be precise.
The only workaround so far is changing Language on the setting panel of Language and Input to Simplified Chinese from Traditional Chinese, which I am using.
BIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIG thanks for your kind help!

Other than the other languages, what's the point when we have 2.1 already o.o
True but some people like the phone to support their own languages.
Oh I see just wondering how it would be useful. Thanks for clarifying!
correct bidi support?
Does this rom supports BIDI? meaning, if you write in arabic/hebrew (ofcourse when installing the corresponding fonts) and then adding numbers to the line, will the line be aligned to the right, the numbers will appear correctly and not opposite (as it does in today's roms?)
Rami
Full mentioned languages support i.e. no need to add anything to it.
Why not purchase an already localized phone or the international version to begin with? No offense meant. Just curious.
There is no localised version of this phone as of yet. Just of the I9000. And that even wasn't officially released yet.
so if I understood correctly, the bidi support is working ok ?
is it possible to incorporate the corresponding bidi support into bionix's Rom?

Below files if get signed and flashed to Eclair 2.1, can make it support above mentioned languages. This just a support in form of reading text and numbers correct way but with no language keyboard support.
libskia.so (from System/Lib)
libwebcore.so (from System/Lib)
libskiagl.so (from System/Lib)
DroidSansFallback.ttf (from System/Fonts)
Is this the same files from ce4arab.com by XQ55? It seems to be the same thing and it has the same bugs.

It is not always possible I am now in the US so I have to buy phone from here to have 3G support and also warranty on the device but I still need arabic support
This is one of the things I like about the iPhone is that it uses the same rom (including all languages that are supported) no matter where you buy it from.

I'm not sure if this is going to work, I did take these file, zip them, sign zipped file, flash it and then the phone stock on Vibrant logo.
I wish it would work, maybe I have done something wrong.
For some reason it didn't work for me. After restoring is completed and the phone is starting up I only hear the sound and see the Vibrant logo. After 10 minutes of waiting I just took off the battery. Tried the "factory reset" but it haven't changed anything. What should I do?
If the phone does not boot up then flash Vibrant Stock Kernel as mentioned.
Any update about fixing the GPS?

Hi
I had the day off, and decided to have a play with the Kitchen to see what I could come up with. After following the instructions on theunlockr.com I decided to base my rom on the OpenFire v.2.3 rom. Any issues that rom had, mine will have.
I have added a few things and changed a couple of things, but in the end, this is my first rom for a device I do not have myself. I have an HTC Desire, but noticed that the Wildfire isn't getting as much love, hence that choice. I hope to get a better understanding of what it takes to make a proper custom rom at some time in the future.
Removed:
Launcher2
Added:
Launcher Pro
Titanium Backup
Rom Manager
Fancy Widget
From the OpenFire v.2.3 post:
NO HTC APPS DO NOT WORK ON THIS ROM AND I WONT TRY TO PORT THEM (but if you try and suceed please tell me and I will maybe include them!)
This ROM is from the android source there is no HTC apps or extra apps from the start it do come with spareparts and dev tools from android source. At the moment it seems a bit slow I think that is due to animations, animations can be turned of in spareparts or in the settings menu.
Features:
- Froyo aosp 2.2.1
- Root + superuser app
- Busybox
- No htc apps!
- Some google apps
- Multi language
- Darktremor Apps2SD
- Patched market
- Usb & WIFI-thetering
- JIT
- 3 in 1 reboot menu
- It may make your phone explode! (You have been warned)
Bugs / Not working:
- Video recording working (but, bad quality)
- Cant import contacts from SIM ? no read/write acess to SIM ? (can anyone confirm or deny this?)
TODO:
- Get rid of above bugs
- HTC-camera (maybe)
Thanks to:
HCDR.Jacob - for the kernel and vendor
Yopsi - for sharing package with google apps.
danne_jo - for APN stuff, and for hosting to my ROM
Sympnotic - For his patched market app
AnantK123 - For pointing out a fix for the camera app
acavella - For hosting / making a homepage dedicated just for OpenFire
Notes:
NO HTC APPS DO NOT WORK ON THIS ROM AND I WONT TRY TO PORT THEM (but if you try and suceed please tell me and I will maybe include them!)
To get app2sd to work you need an ext partition when you have that you might have todo a full wipe and reflash the ROM to get app2sd to work
When you boot up first time choose "com.android.provision"
Anything you want to know about OpenFire can be found at the OpenFire website.

What did you change? We don't need roms like those. Everyone can customize his installed rom like he wants.
Why don't you stick to a phone you have and help projects that just need help instead of reinventing the wheel over and over again?
no offense, just my personal oppinion

None taken.
I've had my desire for a while, and decided to root it about a month ago. I have now installed a custom rom, and I'm enjoying the fiddling around. I don't have too much knowledge, apart from experiences gained in the last week or so.
I tried talking a colleague into installing a custom rom, but he said there weren't too many for the Wildfire, so I said I'd have a play. I'm treating it as a learning curve, as I've always been interested in programming, but never really had the time. I have created a (very) small program for the Mac, and have written a few batch files but thats as far as I've taken it.
In an afternoon I've set up a Linux VM, installed all the needed software and had a play to see what I can realistically do. I see this as a first step. I'm trying to talk the wife into a Wildfire so I can have one to play with!
If the consensus is I should delete the thread, then so be it.

Hi everyone! Today my Galaxy Tab 10.1 (3G) has been updated to Honeycomb 3.2 via Samsung Kies.
During the update, i saved the Kies download folder containing the firmware.
I've uploaded to 4shared on this link:
http://www.4shared.com/file/IvMsjSLY/P7500ZVVKL1_P7500UBKL1_P7500VI.html
- Its about 727MB.
- You need Odim to flash (I cant help you with that).
- Is a Brazilian VIVO 3G version, and "i think" will work on any 3G Galaxy TAB 10.1.
- I've updated this morning so, not tested enough.
- Is more fast than the original 3.1 but, not fast enough We really need ICS.
Great job tonywalker!
Samsung released updates from gt-p7500 but vivo doesn't offer support.
Many people uses task650's roms, and look very awesome, but most of task650 updates and others works only in "gt wifi only". Is there any way to use these roms and apply 3g support on gt-p7500 from vivo?
Probably not. Developers would have to create a ROM specifically for gt-7500.
After a few days of use I can say that I really liked this update to 3.2. The most annoying problem was resolved, and now just the slowness of the tablet bothers me.
I think you should try.
Thanks a lot.
Searching an restock way for a looooong time, thank you.
which problems and apps?

I´d like to know what kind of problem did you find on 3.2 stock? Is it slowest than 3.1? Yesterday i rooted the tablet (3.1 os) and also overclocked, after these mods i realized that honeycomb are more fast and flow now. Honestly i dont want to create new problems that now.
Some apps are very usefull and cant miss on this tablet like:
- Folder Organize (u can use lite version)
- HD Widgets (improve time and weather with a excelent widget)
- Hide bar (the propose is: hide system bar every time you want, but bottom restore didnt work as the program promess)
- wifi ad hoc enabler (this app are really getting me nervous!!! I´m looking for a app that enable ad-hoc network and share files between pc and tablets (option locked by samsung). This is a new app and most os people are leaving messages saying that its perfect. After follow all the instructions i cant share my files.
** I tried to download 3.2 stock but i think that only 4shared users are allowed to download big files. Please, split the rom in two small files and reupload

Just to confirm, I flash this by putting my tablet into download mode, then selecting PDA in odin and then search for the .tar.md5 file of the ROM right?
When using stock ROM, my mini can determine my native language. Ex like when typing message, just talk. But after switching to custom, cannot found that features. Tried checked in Input Languages, also not find. Google also not found. Install Keyboard for ICS also no luck. Someone can try to help me.

That's why it's called custom rom, the cooker of the project add some features, and remove others such as interface and keyboard languages, some crappy built-in apps (those whose seems useless in his point of view).
wherefore there where you downloaded the custom rom, you must first read the changelog before proceeding, to avoid complaining later
So if you can live without those missed features, and coexist with your new life
you will need google apps (aka. gapps) to have market and gmail account.
download them from here:
http://www65.zippyshare.com/view.jsp?locale=fr&key=94227110
then flash them via CWM recovery (mount system before proceeding).

Could anyone give a link for the working fapps for PA 12 by tonyp ..... I searched throughout XDA and throughout internet but couldn't find it .... I don't like gapps and that's why I'm searching for fapps .... I'm asking for fapps (NOT Non-Neon gapps) which might be similar to this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1715375
but this one is not working fully at present ...
Thanks in advance
Com'on guys..... 36 views and no reply so far ..... :banghead:
First read this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2186251 then you will no, that there are no fapps :cyclops:
fapps was a very bad name for non-neon gapps.
For PA12 (which is based on Android 4.1.x) you need the gapps which are linked in the first post.
The thing is, that the gapps since Android 4.2.x aren't compatible with Non-Neon Devices. With Roms < 4.2 you can use the normal gapps.
I have already read that many times .... read there what tonyp says in the first post :
" P.S.: For the love of God, don't call them fapps - fapps is a foss (free and open source) package which uses OpenStreetMaps instead of GMaps and so on. "
That's why I'm searching for fapps and in order to avoid any confusion I also wrote that I don't need Non-Neon gapps but fapps....
Anyways thanks for the reply.....
Seriously !!!!!!!! Two Centuries of views (200 views ) and still no answer..... That's GREAT :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:
I didn't find a package, but this German article:

There you can find the alternatives to the Google apps.
If you need help understanding it, I can help you, but I think you can see what you can use instead of what.

Thanks, but I have already quoted this page in first post that it is not working fully currently.... This project has started about an year ago and is still under development.... I guess the developer doesn't get much time to develop it or whatever may be the reason but this project also looks promising and I'm already following it....

OK here it is....
At the time of opening this thread I was on tonyp PA 12 and didn't install gapps (before that I used to install gapps on every new build, clean install).... It had now more free RAM and the phone was much more smooooother (add infinite o's to it in the middle ) than before with the same apps installed as before except gapps..... But there was obviously the lack of email client, play store, etc.... So after searching and from this thread also, I came to know of the alternatives... So my setup was :
1. Blank Store (from XDA thread mentioned above) and Aptoide ===>> instead of Play Store.
2. K-9 Mail ===>> instead of GMail
3. OsmAnd ===>> instead of Google Maps (2 & 3 from your German website. Thanks again man )
4. Browser ===>> Always used Opera / native CM browser and NEVER downloaded Chrome. So no problem here.
5. Calendar ===>> NEVER used any. I can remember my tasks (or at least write them down). So no problem here also.
6. Never cared about GTalk, Google+, etc... I don't use all this crap
But after tonyp released his 10.1 ROM with "minimum gapps" pre-installed, I took it as an opportunity to update my apps (which were a few - others I had already updated earlier via other Stores)... So I'm again planning now to remove gapps from this ROM and again gain my Privacy and ROM Smooooooooothness back ...
