Anti-Thief to ROM (Titanium Backup) - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have an idea to move the Anti-Thief to ROM than keeping it in Phone Memory.
Even a hard reset won't remove it.
But I couldn't manage to move the Data of Anti-Thief to ROM.
Hard reset remove all the Data like Sim number, Gmail attached email address.
I tried it with Android Lost.
Anyway to implement it in better way?

Titanium Backup help

Hi all,
I am currently using Webstar's Ultimate ROM v7.2 but have decided to switch to Darky's latest.
I plan to do a full wipe during the installation.
I have downloaded titanium backup from the Market, and paid for the full version. But I don’t know how to use it!
I’ve just told it to do a batch backup of all user apps and data.
When I install the wipe ROM I will of course be wanting to restore EVERYTHING.
Will titanium be able to do this? Will it restore all my apps/ games/ games scores [angry birds/ grave defence Etc]?
Will it restore all my SMS/ Emails?
Will it restore my desktop wallpaper/ widgets/ launcher pro settings?
Finally when I come to do the restore, do I select the RUN – restore missing apps + all system data?
Thank you all in advance
Matt
Sometimes i have noticed that if you backup system data and restore it on another rom it can cause some issues (FC's Unresponsiveness, Apps not working) so its always best to do a wipe version... you can backup Apps + App data but i never backup system data if im moving ROM. but thats upto you...
and as for your sms/ wallpapers/ homescreen arrangement it will not save them.. but some launchers have the option to backup the homescreen so check that first... anything on your internal sd card. back up to your PC.

I agree with azzledazzle.
Use titanium backup to restore your apps and save data but i would use it for much else than that.
When you wipe your phone it will ask you to input your email account anyway on the first boot up So all your email will be back,
You will lose your sms though...
If you use gmail sync all your contact to your gmail account so they will all be put back on your phone autimatically on the first boot.
Hope that helps a bit.

+1 this is the best method. your emails will stay intact, as for a few sms there not worth keeping (unless they are dirty sms from a dirty woman) lol

Best restore sceme after Factory Default Reset

Got the ICS OTA update. Liking it, but read hear and on other forums a Factory default result is recommended to clear/clean up remnants
from Gingerbread. I dont know who it works, but since I've downloaded and tried hundreds of other apps, I bet they have remnants laying around also.
I've rooted my phone (razs_edge)
I've installed the free version of Titanium Backup and ran a backup with system data + all apps +data
I've about to due the FDR. Should I also wipe the internal SD card? or just the FDR?
Once FDR is done, should I actually restore EVERYTHING. or will that restore to much?
I just want plain system data back, and they the apps that I really want to keep.
which restore method do you suggest?
The best way to restore after an FDR is to let your apps restore from the Market. Most will restore automatically, the rest you can restore manually. The only things I would restore from a TiBu would be data from user apps like games, or things like bookmarks. Restoring System apps and most system data is a good way to mess up your clean FDR. Your sd-ext is not wiped by an FDR, but I think the internal sdcard is. Just back it up to the computer before the FDR so you can restore any of it if necessary. All your gmail and gcontacts will be back on sync if you've set 'Back up my data' and 'Automatic restore' under settings > Backup and reset.

Great reply! Thanks.
I know contacts and calendar and stuff will be restored from Google servers. Not sure how important to me they are,
but are SMS messages restored from Google. or do I restore those manually via TiBu? I glaced at the 270ish entries and nothing jumped
out at being the one for SMS messages.
Thanks.
Sorry, forgot about sms because I use Google Voice and they stay in the cloud (and remain available) unless I delete them. I think there is an app in Play Market that will backup/restore your messages. I think TiBu can do that also, but I'm not sure which setting does that.
Edit: In TiBu, if you touch the 'folder' thing at the top right, and choose to backup all user apps + data, you can select 'Messages(SMS & MMS)' to back them up.

Great thanks. I didnt know what the sms/mms was called. If I had scrolled through the list slower I would have seen the green font
(must be for system apps and/or data) names messages (sms/mms). so it does appear to save those.
still very new to TiBu. I'll learn. Thanks for the help.

[Q] Hard reset after 8.1 queries

I am thinking about doing a hard reset after installing the latest update to 8.1 as battery is still terrible. I have some questions please.
Will my apps and games saves be ok on my sd card after reset?
I know I will need to reinstall all apps again but will those apps recognise the data stored on the phone or will it overwrite my saved data for the apps when reinstalling to sd card?
I know mail, sms, contacts and calender get backed up. Does what's app get backed up too?
So my main concern is losing my game progress for apps on card if I hard reset.
Any advice appreciated.
Thank you!

Your apps and games on the sd-card will be ok after hard resetting your phone. The problem is that your phone does not accept them and you will need to reinstall each app (and you lose the game progress unless the dev has integrated some kind of backup to OneDrive etc.).
In-App-Purchases will be stored if they are durable; consumable purchases are lost!
To mention WhatsApp: it is pulled form the store, so you were not able to reinstall it on your device!
I think 8.1 added the ability to back up application data too, which should help out. I don't know for sure, though; there may be limits and apps which get pulled may not get backed up / restored.

Reuse appdata after phone hard reset

I have lots of chats on my WeChat and I haven't online backup my WeChat (Phone unable to connect to Internet due to HOSTS file problem), right now I put all my Apps to SD card. I was wondering if I am able to recover all the apps after hard reset?
Thank you.
Use this, may work : AppDataMgr_Debug_AnyCPU.xap. Apps already instaled on sdcard will be erased at first step to install apps to sdcard...... but data backuped by this xap no.

HELP!!! Backing up user data to SD Card in Android Recovery Menu before Factory Reset

Requesting help with this asap...
My BLU R1 HD froze, and at reboot it jumps to the colorful BLU banner page before or shortly after entering my unlock code. BLU Tech Support says I need to perform a Factory Reset, but could not provide additional assistance. I see that one of the options on my phone's Android Recovery Menu is to backup user data to SD Card. My questions are: 1) Will this backup save all of my user account settings, to make it easier to recover my apps and items such my corporate exchange email? And if so, then 2) what are the steps to use this SD Card backup to recover everything after the Factory Reset? (please note that I do not know if I had the phone set up to auto backup to Google)

FYI this issue occurred when I clicked on a Google Maps link for a customer site I was visiting -my Google Maps app started up and then Android crashed as I described previously.
I have since performed the factory reset, then tried to use the user data backup I stored onto an SD Card but that failed. However I did find that I had everything automatically backed up to Google, but when I restored all of my apps then the original issue with Android crashing returned. If I don't restore the apps from the Google backup then the phone works fine. I'd like to try restoring all of the apps except for Google Maps but it's not a standalone app -it's part of something else. If anyone has heard of a similar issue or has a suggestion so I don't have to manually reload all of my apps it will be appreciated.
