Spamming the board and asking for things to break the rules, won't get you much answers. Just saying.
Good Lock!

You realize you are insinuating in an open forum your desire to procure illegal software?

Not even gonna explain. It's already been done above, but I will be watching you

Trade your hd7 for an android device on your carrier is the easiest way. Or buy a tablet like me and have them both.

You'll be better off trading it and researching your next phone before buying it.

How do I make a "nandroid" of my computer?

I haven't wiped my computer in 6 years.
I'm about to reformat my hard drive and start fresh but want to make a restore image just in case.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?

If your on linux just run dd if=/dev/sda1 of=/place/you/want/it
then to restore just switch if and of. That's what I do. Might work on a Mac too. On windows.. get a Linux live CD and do that?

I have cloned hard drives with driveImage xml. It should make a solid copy of your hdd.

There is a tutorial out there somewhere. Hope this helps.

7 annoys me. It's too user friendly and all the controls are hidden behind wizards.
I'm thinking of buying a new computer but since it's been 6 years without a wipe I'm sure this one can run faster.
But that is not the point of this thread.

To answer the OP there are several products for creating a Disk Image. Acronis make a good one:
http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/products/trueimage/
Vista/Windows 7 have built in imaging capability but as you're on XP you'll have to pay for something. If you're doing a fresh install though, i don't see the benefit of imaging your drive as it is now. It would make sense to do it after you've reinstalled and re-configured your OS so that you have a clean image to go back to in future. What can you do with an image of an old, tired install?
Perhaps you'd just be better off just backing up all of your important data onto a spare drive and forgetting about the image?
Good. Then the noobs will change settings less.

Honestly I would just run a quick google search (recovery disk/iso for model#) if you can't find any free or cheap available for your model then I would stick to the recovery software option.. there's too many to count but you can usually find free trials for these recovery tools. If not, send me a PM.

Thanks for that. At recommendations from several sources it looks like DriveImageXML is the best place to start.
On a separate note I'm thinking going Linux. From what I've read it sounds like it's community built and supported, much like CM. If that's the case I'm sure I'll love it.

I think you misunderstand me quite a bit. I know plenty about rooting. This has nothing to do with rooting. ( i assume your referring to permission denied error) im not a noob. This error occurs in conjunction with terminal emulator saying the ubuntu img is corrupted. Its not. Anyways i was just looking for confirmation to see if anyone had actually got ubuntu for android working on n7000 and any advice they might have with this issue im running into

its all good thank you though! im really surprised this isnt more widespread. i had to actually go looking for the idea of putting a desktop OS on an android phone in google to find it. i figured the CM team and well heck everyone would be all over this. imagine replacing your laptop/desktop with just your phone. you dock your phone and poof ubuntu is up on your monitor. the true mobile desktop.
EDIT: not to mention your phone would be charging on this dock as you use it....GENIUS! and imagine if everyone had this dock solution, you could use your phone at any of your friends/ families/ schools/ work/ etc...
Buddy, I 2 m trying 2 do so for last 5 months... But no success yet... M not demoralising u but there is no way you can run ubuntu smoothly on SGN

Depends entirely on what your experience is. There's a big difference between learning to cook having never cooked a thing in your life, and learning to cook French cuisine if you're already a master sushi chef.
I'll play it safe and say I've never cooked a thing in my life, but my dad is also a system engineer and could help if I needed it. I'd rather learn without his help.

Start with an RUU. Run the RUU on your PC. Stop at the first screen after it's done loading, don't proceed, but don't close the window. Start/Run and type %TEMP% and hit enter (this will take you to your user temp folder). Sort the folders by date and open the newest. Here you should find Rom.zip. Use this as your base ROM in the kitchen. Root it, deodex it (or not), zipalign it, etc - and you end up with a flashable ROM from an RUU

[Q] Rooting for Mac

I've got a mac and have successfully rooted the HTC One using it. I followed a guide I used previously to root the One X, the steps are exactly the same.
The guide is here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1592922
I think the only step that was different is when you install a recovery, I used one specifically for the One
The best way is to get a real computer and not apples sh!t.

glad someone finally said it. After owning 50 or more apple computers since the IIci, many of which have gone around the world on tours loaded with ProTools with no significant issues at all and many happy customers, I can't understand why I still buy that junk.
I bet a HP would do the job nicely, if they support it a month after I bought it.
your lobotomy is ready.
what an incredibly stupit blanket statement.
Guys, just ignore the troll. If you don't feed it, it will go away.
Successfully rooted all my devices with a Mac. Just need fastboot and adb, everything else is identical to rooting on a PC.
In the development section there is a great post by torx which outlines the steps. But basically you first unlock the bootloader through HTC, then install recovery and flash Superuser or SuperSU in recovery. Then you're unlocked and rooted and can install Rom's.
