.I've been using this app with my HTC One X :
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.devasque.rotationlocker
And it seems to work OK,
Locks it in landscape but will not switch in auto. Sorry if this a repost but I have kids so no time to search.

How has this app gone completely unnoticed?
Kinda. I bought the 16gig with the case. I'm left handed and the case, as in most cases, is right handed. So I prefer to use it upside down. Only real difference is the camera is on the bottom. I rarely ever used it and when I do I can easily switch it around. Unfortunately I didn't see this FREE app and bought Ultimate Rotation.
It is also possible using some launchers. I believe Apex and or Nova allow it to auto rotate.

I can confirm Apex lets you.
If you long press on auto, it should allow you to rotate it freely.
From my understanding the stock launcher doesn't have rotation at all. I believe a modded stock launcher was created just for this.
Does this rotation all rotate the stock launcher?
I simply use Apex. The stock launcher is what was stuck in portrait mode.

Funny thing when you do tablet ui AFAIK it'll rotate.
Ah just tried the long press and works!
SME widgets are a bit buggered but hey it works, and completely stock and no special launchers.

Thanks for the tip, but what do you mean by auto? I tried long pressing the auto in the pull down notification bar with no luck.
Any suggestions?
This is cool, but it would be much better if it had a better/more useful widget!

Hey guys I found a glitch/hack in 2.3.4/2.3.6 that changed the orientation of the Stock Launcher and App Drawer to Landscape.
No Root Required and no modifications were made to the OS itself. It was a mere coincidence that I even found this.
My Nexus S is running 2.3.6
Fifa 10: 1.0.41
Power Control Plus: 2.5.2
All I did was disable the lock screen using the Power Control Plus widget and then started playing Fifa 10 in the midst of it I had to put the phone down for a bit so I turned the screen off. After some time I picked up my phone and the app drawer strangely turned into landscape mode. I played around with it then pressed the home button(the on screen button, not the capacitive). The home screen was also landscape but weirdly enough the accelerometer didn't change the orientation. So I tired to launch an app and it kicked me into the Portrait mode when I tried to go to the home screen. I realized why this happened so I replicated it many times over, I was going to make this post and video some time ago but studies had consumed most of my time.
Technically this should work on any phone because the idea behind this is the same, the unlock screen kicks the phone back into portrait but it doesn't have the chance to because the lock screen is disabled in the first place.
I hope this hack/glitch can be worked on and and made into an app that changes the orientation of the phone for use regularly. The video will be up on Vimeo soon, it will take time to edit and modify uncompressed 1080p.

Why does your picture of the home screen in landscape look like the ADW launcher?
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using xda premium
I don't have ADW never tried it even, everything I have on the phone is stock. I have rooted the phone but I wasn't rooted when I first found this before upgrading to 2.3.6. try it out, I never had the chance to test this on someone else's phone. See the video for more details
I also encounter that effect time by time, but I can't reproduce it. It also happens for me on the lockscreen, which can also get landscape.
For me, I guess it has to do something with my Nexus' dock.
I can replicate this anytime that's why I want some developers to try and actually make this something useful. Sometimes it's just easier to use the phone in landscape mode

I can make the launcher that has landscape mode enabled if you are interested. You only have to change one word in the source to achieve this.

There are already launchers that do landscape mode but, it would be cool to see the stock launcher being forced into landscape mode without any mods except for an app or something. However what you're offering would certainly be appreciated!

When the launcher goes into landscape mode the dock looks like the older froyo dock because google was to lazy to update all the icons.
I'll post the launcher with landscape mode up soon and fix the dock to look like gingerbread.
Sent from my Nexus S
Rght that makes sense now, but it'll be a whole new launcher right? which sort of kills the purpose because there are already launchers available that do this. What I was hoping for is somehow forcing the stock launcher in the landscape mode, it might be harder but it would be a much better overall solution for ease of use. Not to mention many people could use that app, because a lot of people don't want to use another launcher you know?

Well if you want your lockscreen in landscape, I believe you have to change the LCD density in the build.prop to give it "tablet ui" which will also make the launcher landscape. hope this answers your question!
I threw Nova on immediately for the rotating homescreen. Works wonderful! And super fast of course!

Seriously, I'm in love with it. I had originally planned to go to a tablet ui but it just doesn't feel right. At least on a 7in it doesn't.
- there's already enough room on home screens
- rather pull down notifications than tap from bottom
- don't like combined bar.
Anyone else feel this way or am I just wierd?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
I don't mind it. This is the first android device I don't feel the need to mess with much.

Doesn't bother me at all. Its nice not having to look at a sense ui all the time

I love it. I did install Force Rotation from the Play store and it works perfectly, it just allows landscape mode and it looks like it was built in.
Really needs stock landscape mode.
I kept the stock ui after switching to tablet reason being I disabled the on screen buttons and hide the notification bar on my homescreen. Makes full use of the screen real estate.

thanks!
I like stock UI on this very much.. which is why i'm holding off on installing trusty ol' Nova launcher. i just dont have the need yet. (no landscape home screen doesnt bother me too much at this point)
tried the 160 dpi switch, but didn't care for the empty space at the bottom of the screen . seemed a little wasteful.. so switched back to stock 231dpi
I like it, especially now that the team eos ROM has support for toggles in the pull down notification bar. I also like that the home, back, and recent apps buttons are centered.

I'm loving the stock ui! I'm also loving the fact you can install tablet AND phone apps. I've bought SwiftKey for the phone but not the tablet and I'm using the phone version on my Nexus right now and it's working great!

Your not alone, I love the stock JB interface.
I have custom launchers on my other devices, but am really liking the way JB looks and feels on the Nexus.
I'm with ya man. I'm loving this thing. If my prime was this smooth and stable I would be keeping it lol.

I love the stock UI and tablet UI would look stupid in such a small tablet. Also why not try something new instead of living in past. The portrait home screen do not bother me and I try to keep using it in portrait mode as much as I can because the tablet is so manageable in one hand in portrait mode. The notification drop down and everything is good with the UI however I don't like the look of app drawer just like other android tablets. They should come up with something nice. I don't use app drawer on my device and I keep apps that I use everyday in folders on one of my home screen.

The stock UI is great, and mostly bloat free. I don't feel the need to customize at all.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
I have no complaints with it, and see no reason to look for an alternate launcher. This is my first Android tablet though, so haven't really seen what other launchers/roms have to offer.
So far I like it. I'm running CM9 on my phone and I like the AOSP look a lot.
I've only had mine for a day but so far I can't see any reason to change from stock.
Just what the title says. IMO its smoother then Apex and Nova. I really haven't had time to play with it but so far so good. Wish this update was available when I was stuck on HC.

We had to wait a long long time for getting an update.....
But at least it was worth the waiting.
Had to fix screen size and some other settings after new update. It was a pain, don't really notice anything new while running on stock ICS

Was quite happy using adw ex launcher. There is a bug though. When u add a folder on the home screen, initially you could edit the folder to change the icon or rename the folder. It doesn't work anymore. Any idea people.

THIS. Been using Go Ex Launcher for several years on many different Android devices & it's been amazing, very customizable & easy to use.
After trying EVERY other launcher including paid ones, none come close to Go EX...
Ok, so here's a little back story. I'm currently running the android 4.2 launcher on the stock Atrix HD android 4.1 update. And I just don't think the stock lockscreen fits with the launcher.
I have tried Holo Locker and Widget Locker and both are very lacking. They leave the software keys on screen and you can still back out of the lock screen by hitting them.
So, basically, I was wondering if there are any better AOSP-like lock screen apps or if there are any mods floating around out there?
