Verizon's "Screw Everyone Plan" - LG Revolution

OK, so I realized that our long standing unlimited plans are going away. Fair enough, but I've finally done the math and we are all going to get boned in a BIG way (minimum of 25% increase in bill). This is almost enough to go back to the dark ages and forget my stupid cell phone service all together. But before I take the leap out into the vast void, I figured maybe someone else was pawing over this and done some research of their own?
So here's the question I pose:
What's the smartest route to go now? I've been thinking about coverage issues, and obviously Verizon has the biggest reach, but I'm thinking this last "less than tactful" boning was the last straw.
Is anyone else about to flush Verizon, or am I alone in this?
6GB + Cell = $120. 4GB + Cell = $100. I'm not sure whether to laugh, or cry?
I'm paying ~$70... Umm... Seems like Verizon is the new Ma Bell on the block?

Verizon has definitely screwed over the single phone customers.
with that, it's not any better... $59.99 for 450 minutes/unlimited text, plus $30 for 2GB of data
a huge savings of $10.
edit: forgot to mention, if you want more than 2GB, you have to go with the Shared Everything plan even though you're just one person. totally blows.

Ah... Unlimited text. Hmm.. I forgot people are big into texting. OK, so I guess this won't be a system shock for everyone like it is for me. More like slowly turning up the heat on the frog in the pot.

I currently pay about $82 a month for 4GB 450 minutes and 250 texts with nights and weekends and mobile to mobile I don't even get close to the limits on anything. If I had to switch to the share 1GB would be $90 and the 4GB like I have now would be $110 and that doesn't even include taxes and fees. You can get the prepaid smart phone with 1GB for $80 but even that would be more that we are paying now. The only people who save money with these plans are going to be people with multiple devices that don't use a lot of data. It's a good deal if you use a lot of minutes or text a lot, but there are so many alternatives you can use that I cant see this being good for anyone really. I will stay as long as I can keep my current plan otherwise I will just switch to Sprint.

Was just looking at Sprint...

Based on the reviews here in Colorado, and the price difference, as well as the good selection of phones, I'm 99% confident that if Verizon doesn't pull their heads out by summer/fall of next year, I'm jumping to Sprint as well.

This is why I haven't been looking to upgrade. Red might loose a long time customer.

I currently pay around $150 with 1 smart phone and 4 basic. 1400 mins and 150 mb. The new Screw me plan for the exact same except 2 gb would cost me $220 and I lose most of an employee discount for where I work. I checked T-Mobile and they have a comparable plan to where I'm at and u would wind up paying right around where I am right one. Vzw will lose this customer from 1999.

I had 2 phone line with 1400 mins shared and 4g on each phone. I used all 4 every month and my wife hardly used any. I also had unlimited texting. Now i have unlimited calls and texting and 4 g shared and im saving 30 a month. So i guess it helped me out. Seeing as we were only using 4g a month anyways.

I'm currently grandfathered in with unlimited text and data and pretty much refuse to sign a new contract under these new guidelines so I will just keep this plan I have and won't bother buying my phones from them now if their gonna try to charge me full retail, I just picked up a new nexus for $300 on ebay FU Verizon!!!

same boat here... im grandfathered in under the old unlimited plan, but once this contract is up come next May, im jumping on my wife's family share plan with Sprint. Then ill have a better phone, unlimited everything again, and only pay 35.00 per/mo since its chipping in on the plan. WAY better then the 76.00 im paying now and that includes an 18% corperate discount..
Seriously Verizon? get real.

I am thinking going the ebay route, but I am afraid I will get a stolen phone....

I'm grandfathered in on my unlimited too. I got my Revo before they made the upgrade change...lucky me...I have my DX to my partner and her D1 to our daughter. My daughter doesn't need a 4G phone...and because my partner only uses her phone to call people...and doesn't need a 4G either.
I pay way too much a month for only 2000 shared minutes...family and friends (10)...unlimited text and data = $245 on 3 lines.
We is decide to buy Amazon or eBay for upgrades if we decide to get better phones for them.

even if you buy retail i think it's still worth it for the unlimited data.. that being said usually stolen phones won't come with the box & docs so that's a safe way to tell

I bought my past few phones off craigslist, cheaper than ebay, and I always have them meet me at a verizon store.

So you have Verizon activate the phone and then you pay the person you're buying it from after you know it's good to go?

YUP! Well that's what happened last time. Most of the time you can just meet at the Verizon store and have one of the clerks check the ESN# to make sure it hasn't been reported lost or stolen, so normally you dont need to have the seller wait round for activation.

Great tip!

I agree. I sold my REVO and got a Galaxy Nexus so I could keep my unlimited, and I'll never buy a phone from a Verizon store again. I'll keep upgrading via ebay or craigslist and just keep replacing my phone. That way I never have to renew my contract and I get to keep unlimited.

I'm on a family plan. Does this mean upgrading any phone would cause a change in the plan for all of us? I don't think I could hold off all the family members very long to keep the old plan.

I got bumped to the 2gb data plan? what to do

i got the text yesterday and got the same old thing from the CSR. smartphone blah blah.
I was on the 30$ everything plan and now its 25$ for 2gb and $20 for unlimited texts.
Is there anything I can say to the rep tomorrow when I call back? I was on that previous plan ($30) for a long time, couple years I think.
Been at att for 13 years.
I have a tmo N1 also, I could switch but I don't know about their coverage down here.
I don't I'm beating a dead horse, I'm sorry. I did do some searching before hand.
any advice?
I can't help you but to say that I received the exact same awful news this week. I can't understand how they feel justified in doing this since I am not under contract and my plan was grandfathered in. I am going to call them tomorrow and let them know how I feel but I doubt it helps. I guess I'll just have to take my four phones elsewhere.
I literally had nothing to say to the guy after he came back from having me on hold. 30$ was the smart plan back two years ago wasn't it? So now it's not and we need $15 more dollars from you?
I'd rather pay google for good VOIP.
I can't find prices for tmo even more plus plans online anymore, I know they use to be there?
Legally, because they changed your plan, you can back out of their service without an early termination fee. That's probably the best thing you can do.
They do periodic scans... Once it happens automatically there's nothing you can do to get the cheap unlimited plan back. If you ask nicely you CAN get the unlimited data plan, but of course you'll pay $30 for it.
What can you do to mitigate it? I suppose you could use Wifi more, if you listen to streaming music a lot perhaps instead buy a bigger SD card and listen to music from there? Don't stream videos to it?
Personally I have only gone a hair over 1G since I've had my Nexus One, but I stream music only a few hours a month and otherwise it's market updates, email, data syncing etc.
I got switched back a few weeks ago myself too, but this time instead of exploding I figured there's nothing you can do about it, at least in the long term, except for talking from your wallet. When you contract is up, move somewhere else and tell AT&T why.
They keep giving us broader access to fast cellular data, keep making it faster, but continue to reduce what we can use of it. Same with home broadband, friend has 20mbit cable broadband at his house but it drops to like 1mbit/sec if he uses more than 5G/month.
I don't have a contract. I'm going to check a tmo sim in my house and see how the coverage is. Maybe switch after a final call to att. I have atmo n1 also.
silly thing is I've never went over 250mb a month. BUT what's the point of watching or keeping track of how much data you've used when you pay these Fu**s 1200 a year?

exactly ! and, when the advertisement says UNLIMITED, by god that's what I'm paying for. if/when a telco throttles my account for using "too much" i'm suing.
so far this month, 4Gb. i'm on tmo, and while the out-of-town coverage isn't great, i'm never too far off the interstate for it to matter.
vote with your money. not like they care, with 20 million iphone users coughing up whatever amount they are told to. ;-)
well, there ain't jack the retention people can do. Been at att for 12 years now.
It's impossible to go back I guess. Also you can't just have voice voice or data alone. Thought about having two sims active at the same time, one from tmo and one from att.
According to him there is only 200mb or 2gb plans no matter what you had before they auto switch you.
What he did do was switch me to a 29.99 voice with rollover instead of the lowest advertised 39.99 450 rollover plan.
Drop to 1500 texts a month for $15 instead of unlimited for $20. (which I'm slowly swapping people over to my GV number)
and 2gb data for whatever that price is, I don't remember. But at least my bill is within $5 of what it was the other day.
Att just doesn't really care to much about what they're doing to customers.
I'm still going to go check out tmo and coverage at my house when I have time.
retention guy was cool. I recommend not hanging up or cussing these people.
Att is the devil.
wow, glad i'm on T-mobile i'm using a grandfathered G1 unlimited data/400 texts plan, but if i ever needed unlimited texts i could just upgrade to the even more plan and i would end up with 200 more anytime minutes and unlimited texts along with unlimited data, i currently pay 55 dollars a month total and the current even more plan (no contract plan) is 60 dollars a month.

You realize the irony here is that the users who use hoards of data are part of the reason why they keep clamping down? How can you possibly use 4G of data doing semi-normal things? Must be tethering or doing nonsense (like one poster in the past; he was doing daily ROM downloads of multiple ROMs and associated packages...)

[Q] can i change my phone without sprint knowing?

i was thinking of getting an evo used and switching over.. but can i do it without sprint knowing? theres an extra 10 dolor fee now that i dont pay (grandfathered on old everything plan) i would like to avoid my bill going up but ready for a bigger screen.
any help would be great, thanks =)
No........
You need to go through Sprint in order to activate the phone, so that's a negative.
bummer bummer

if you have the used Evo 4G go ahead and activate it with Sprint..your plan and monthly payment will remain the same.. $80 a month? ...

The $10 fee is not assessed until you upgrade the phone. It was a fee exclusive to 4G devices on Sprint for the 4G data until they made it a Smart Phone fee earlier this year.
Would be awesome if that was possible, but sadly its not, I wanted to try that too when i first got my evo
is the evo worth paying the extra? i have to do it for 2 lines =/
Might as well do it now, you will eventually upgrade, unless you plan on staying with what you got now forever.

lol Have fun on 3G while the man is using 5G+ in the future. jk.
Speeds on 4G are much better. Depending on the area you are in you can see really fast download/upload. I'll probably end up tethering from my phone more often seeing as how the speed will be a lot faster than what I have at home. Eventually evreyone will be paying the $10 because one of these days your phone won't work any more and you will upgrade. I was a little hesitant to upgrade my Hero, but after looking at my bill it will only go up $5 a month because I was being charged $4.99/ month for a spending limit cap fee. And Sprint offers tons of discounts for school, employers, AAA members, credit union members, and on and on. So I'm going to get on my wifes credit union account and get a discount every month for that. So once that is done I'll be paying less than what I am now.
No you cannot, sorry.

Ptel Service for $41.24/mo w/ Coupon - Tmobile USA MVNO

The original HOT deal has ended. See below for the latest 25% discount. I've been meaning to post this for a couple months now and kept putting it off thinking that a) the promo was about to expire and b) most people might find this too much of a hassle. I however think this is a steal and I'm willing to move to Ptel while it's this price and switch elsewhere if the deal ends. The joys of using Google Voice means I don't really care if the phone number associated with my SIM changes. If you fall in to the same camp, read on.
*********
Plans
Ptel offers two "unlimited" plans:
$40 unlimited talk and text. First 250MB at 4G speeds then throttled.
$50 unlimited talk and text. First 2GB at 4G speeds then throttled.
Both plans include unlimited international text, MMS, and 411. Also, unlike all other prepaid companies I've tried, Ptel includes conditional call forwarding so Google Voicemail is not a problem.
Promo Codes
PTELG25 = 25% off ($4.99 SIM Card & Free shipping) = upfront cost of $41.24 for the unlimited 2GB plan -OR- $33.74 for the unlimited 250MB plan
This code requires you to buy a sim/top-up card combo each time, unfortunately. I don't see any way to use the coupon code when simply topping up.
Expired Codes
PTELSLICK20 = $20 off (Free SIM Card & shipping) = $30.00 upfront cost
-OR-
PTEL25BRAD = $25 off (Free shipping) = $29.99 Final upfront cost
-OR-
PTELSTUD25 = 25% off your order and free shipping (not really useful IMHO unless you're buying a phone)
Additional Savings (Cashback)
Befrugal changed their policies effective July 2013. No more cashback from them when buying minutes. If you find another site that will do so, please share! In addition to getting their unlimited deal for $30 $41.24, you can get 20% cashback via BeFrugal making the final cost $24 $32.99! BeFrugal will only allow you to cash out after your account reaches $25. For those of you that are new to cashback sites, just know that in order to qualify, you must click through on the cashback site before you go to the carrier's website. I will often open up a different browser, just to make sure I don't mess anything up. For other cashback options, see here:
http://cashbackwatch.com/store.php?store=PlatinumTel
Buying Multiple Months
The deal has been going on since December at least. So, while it's not "guaranteed" $30 service, it has effectively been that for a few months now. Another option to consider is buying several months worth of SIMs if that makes sense for you. Some might consider this to be counter to the premise of buying an unlocked Nexus. My brother is one of those people that thinks buying a years worth of service up front is a bad idea. "I guess it comes down to principle. Buying 13 months is like having a 13 month contract, more or less. I'm not cool with that."
Either way, it's your call. I bought enough for 3 months and as long as the promo continues, each month I buy one more SIM.
Here are more details which I found out from a Ptel customer service rep:
1) You must order a new SIM each time you use the coupon. There's no way around that.
2) The "Activation PIN" that comes with the SIM card can be applied to your original SIM. No need to change numbers each month by using the new SIM they send you.
3) Top-up cards in any denomination are good for a full year, but...
4) Once you activate the card, you must use it up within a certain period of time. For the $50 card, the term is 180 days. Totally fine if you're just using it for the unlimited plan.
Click to collapse
So, the max number of cards you can buy at once would be 13, I think. Feel free to correct me if my math is off.
Odds & Ends
Other things to keep in mind:
They send you a standard size SIM card. It's too big for the Nexus 4 so you'll need a SIM card cutter. Or you can always ask someone at a Tmobile store to cut it for you (if they have a cutter one available). I bought mine on eBay for a couple bucks. EDIT: As of April 2013, Ptel now sells Micro SIMs too (labeled as Combi Card 2FF/3FF).
Ptel has been around since 2001, but only just switched to GSM (SIM-based) service in December. It seems this promotion is their way of drumming up business on their new plans/network.
I've been on Ptel since January 2013 and have had great luck so far. Good customer service. Fast HSPA+ service in Boston. 16mb down. Zero complaints. If you have any questions, just ask.
Just figured I'd give this post a bump. Just bought another month's worth of Ptel service. The PTEL25BRAD code still works. So, $29.99 service is still in effect (before the $6 cashback).
I don't understand why no one else jumping on this? Give it a try people!
Definitely giving this a try. Thanks for the info.

Haha. Well, if my XDA account was a new one, then maybe that'd be a red flag. That and and if I wasn't finding ways to pay nearly 50% what they charge per month...that too. I'm just a penny pinching mf.
It does sound too good to be true though, I admit. I hope it lasts for a while longer. At this rate, the savings will pay off my N4 by September. The only thing keeping me from buying even more cards at a time (well one of the reasons at least) is that it might be nice to have LTE at some point. It's still not clear if Tmobile will allow MVNO's to use that network.
how is tmobile's own unlimited everything for $50 any worst than this? considering you'll probably get better customer service, choice of buying a new phone and making payments, no contract or buying upfront, discount monthly bill if you're a student or have corporate discount, and last but not least like you've mentioned, simplicity?

At Ptel's normal monthly fee, the only benefit would be 2gb of unthrottled service instead of 500mb. With the coupon codes in the OP, plus cash back, Ptel's a no brainer in my opinion.

Yeah I went with the first tier. In their terms it only throttles to 3g after 250mb. Can't beat 20 bucks for a full month of unlimited everything even if it is at 3g speeds. I really appreciate the tip.

This is just another option offered up by the OP. I personally think it will work out better for me, but if it doesnt I can just toss the sim and go back to Tmobile. But for $20 I felt it was at least worth trialing. That is one of the benefits of using my N4 with prepaid carriers. I can try out whomever I like or switch plans if I wind up needing more 4G data later on. For right now though I use mostly wifi at home and work so I just needed the data for times in between those two.

My error, I thought I had seen a note on their website about it being throttled back to 3g if I use up the 250mb. Still I dont mind the slower speed for now. And I can always switch up to their 2gb plan if their services is adequate after my test run with them. Thanks for the info. I will try to put a quick update in a week or so after I have had some time to test out their service.

Because PTel's $50 plan gives more data, and with the coupon alone it costs significantly less. Plus you can save even more with the cash back.
If they ever stop having the coupons, then you can always switch to TMobile, but as long as you can save $20 to $30 per month over TMobile, why not go with PTel?
You can get TMobile refills at a discount as well, but I haven't seen any for effectivly 60% off.

I don't quite understand it... Seeing as how my bill is $89 everything with insurance. Could you smarter guys explain?

I believe they're gonna get rid of the "Everything Data Share" plan and stick with this one... makes sense. And they're bringing the 5gb wifi hotspot for 30/mo.
Go SoftBank!
via sexy phONE.
Sprint must be kidding. I have the Family plan 1500 and 4 of my lines are only $30 a month with unlimited data and text and we get no wheres near 1500 minutes. It would stupid on my part to switch where the cheapest line would be $50 a month with unlimited data. I hate to think that they think i am that stupid to fall for it.....lol
Where are the limited minutes? You already get unlimited mobile to mobile + nights and weekends, so...?
These new plans are waaayy to expensive.
Wait.. does Sprint's website reflect the changes? I see no price changes (for family).
For the math challenged, here's a breakdown for a family of 5 smartphones:
Before:
$150 (lines 1 & 2) + 3 x $20 (lines 3,4,5) + $10 x 5 (Premium data fee) = $260 not including taxes.
1500 peak non-mobile minutes, mobile to mobile is free, off peak is free, unlimited data
After:
$50 + $40 + $30 + $20 + $20 + $30 x 5 (Unlimited data) = $310
Unlimited voice, data
So, you're trading $50 /mo for the unlimited calls. Sounds like a pretty raw deal for Everything Data Family users with max members. For a family of 2 smartphones its:
$150 + $10 x 2 = $170
vs.
$50 + $40 + 2 x $30 = $150
It's cheaper here, because Sprint charges so little for the 3rd, 4th and 5th members.
So this has no effect on me basically? I'm the only one on my plan so this news means nothing to me? Here I thought the price war was on too lol... The race to the bottom

I have everything 450 for $80 right now, so if I switch to the new plan, I can get unlimited minutes...
sounds decent, but I don't really use 450 a month anyway.

Me neither so this plan is basically useless to us?

Something to pay attention to with the new Sprint plans.....Fine Print:
"While using your device outside of Sprint's coverage area, (ROAMING) you are allowed 100MB of data per month. Should you bypass this limit, Sprint "may discontinue service."
Source
I know not that long ago my plan was $119 and that included my first 2 lines. Now its only 1 line and a extra $10 for the premium data and the 4 other lines are $29.99 each. I dont know how that happened because i thought sprint allowed you to upgrade your phone without changing your plan but now i see thats not true. Maybe i just understood it wrong....lol
Very interesting. This makes my hand squeeze a lil more on the trigger to add a line and get the ONE instead of upgrading my wife's phone.
Then I would have the ONE and the wife would have S3
Because as of right now, I get worst service on my Virgin mobile(S3 and Evo)then on my wife's Sprint s2(go figure) and now VM is under new terms/agreement as of 8-13-13.

That is correct. They sell LTE phones like my S3 but.......
If they do then it has to be very limited.(as I have been to Phoenix, southern California and Las Vegas. Have only got WiMAX ). WiMAX is the highest data I have received yet from then on my s3.
Also, about 1.5 months I called about my
Bogus service. The lady said." We are undergoing a lot of new changes and I am sorry for the inconvenience" I then asked, "is Virgin Mobile Going to be similar to Straight talk" ? I got a pause then she said, " like I said, Virgin Mobile is undergoing a lot of changes "
This gives me a excuse to get the HTC ONE I have been wanting so long lol

I have 2 lines, first line is $110 + $10 and the other is 19.99 + $10 that's $149.99 plus tax and insurance, if I get the unlimited my way, it's $90 for the two lines plus $60 for data, that's $150 but I'm getting unlimited minutes, which I probably don't need, but might as well get it.

Another difference is switching to one of the new plans will lock it in for life where as staying on my 1500 min 4 line everything plan is subject to sprint changing at their will if they choose to do so in the future. On each of the 4 phones we never reach 1 gb of data usage in a month ever. We are always on wifi, home and work so I don't know what I should do in my situation.

they screwed you...I've upgraded my wifes last Christmas & I still have the $110 everything data family plan....but that only includes the 1st line. Lines 2-5 are $20, plus $10 for premium data for smartphones (unless grandfathered). Having a 21% discount helps
they updated the plan awhile back, it was changed to $150 for 1st & 2nd lines, 3-5 are $30/mo, no premium data charge....I was just about to update to this plan, now it's gone
oh, and I like this part....
I have a discount through my employer. Does my employer discount work with the new plans?
Discounts apply to the monthly data charge rather than the primary rate plan for lines on the Unlimited, My Way plan. The My All-in plan is non-discountable.

I got the Everything Data 450 plan iirc, with my 22% discount I end up paying like $84 a month with insurance/tep. If they give me the discount on the new plan it should be right about the same but what I dont like is the small print of "Other plans may receive prioritized bandwidth availability . Streaming video maybe limited to 1mbps". Who knows if they are gonna cap everyone over a certain limit, thats what I dont want.
I just called and the sprint rep told me they dont offer any employer discounts on these plans, so I wont be switching.

Sprint Framily Plan = Smoke & Mirrors

Here is the text of the email I just sent to Dan Hesse. The savings you supposedly get from the Framily plan are a joke.
I recently jumped on the Framily plan bandwagon for my 6 lines of service to take advantage of the savings that are advertised all over Sprint.com. I actually started to convince my friends and relatives that they should move to Sprint for this fantastic deal.
Then when I inquired about adding a new line to the Framily plan and found out that there are no discounts on equipment I slammed on the brakes and reversed my feelings. Then I additionally found out that my existing lines would no longer be eligible for discounted equipment. Now I am feeling really deceived.
So the end result of the Framily plan hoax is that the monthly savings you supposedly get are the direct result of losing the discount on new line/renewal equipment. I am so angry about this that I will most certainly move back to the plan I was on previously and since 5 of my 6 lines all expire in the next 6 months I will probably take them elsewhere.
To be the number three carrier and do this to your devoted customers and expect them to help you get new customers shocks and amazes me.
I brought my family's lines to Sprint because they were the best deal for me. I can say that you are now following along the path of money sucking that your competitors have been on for years.
I hope that you get many more of these letters as I will be spreading the word to have everyone I can to contact you about this horrible plan.
I to hate losing discounts on equipment, but Sprint has to make money somewhere. Lower monthly rates (yes, 25 a month for unlimited talk/text 1GB of data is LOW) usually means a higher cost somewhere.
I have an unlimited everything plan for 45 a month on the Framily plan, phone costs 25 a month, but heck, I'll take it! Better than anything Big Red or TMob can do.
I will direct your attention to the fine print if you want to be even more upset, particularly the section about data and video streaming.
I'm on mobile, but if memory serves, it basically says that framily plans get bumped down in case of localized high data demand + video streaming is limited to the point of being useless to ease network congestion.
Hesse: data will remain unlimited. Yeah, OK guy.
No discounts are applied until you hit 7 users on the plan then you get the $25.00 a month, you can forget about device discounts too. If you want unlimited data add another $20.00 a month which brings the plan higher then what I am paying now for 5 phones. I will keep my family plan I have now, well actual 2 family plans, better deal and new phone every 2 years with discounts and savings...

Just checked my bill, I have 3 lines, and all of them are getting $10 off, making them $45 each. You get more off for each line until they're down to $25 each, IIRC.
First of all, for clarification purposes I think it's appropriate to call them "device subsidies" rather than "discounts".
Next, I am not sure what the OP's "big surprise" here is. The Framily plan is a no-contract engagement. As such there are no device subsides provided under it. This isn't any different than any of the other large carriers' no-contract offerings.

I got to tell you, you are whining about nothing. I don't have this plan, but why would you expect device subsidies on a price that low. It obviously isn't a plan for some one that wants a new phone every two years and do the math. You could pay Sprint $30 more a month for your supposed phone upgrade discount which amounts to $720 over 2 years plus the $199 you paid for your discounted phone totaling $919 for you discounted phone. Or pay cash for your phone $600 and save $319 over the same 2 year period. Now, where was your discount? Oh wait there is more, no contract, cheap monthly bill, leave when you want. What are you complaining about.

No argument on most of the points. My biggest complaint is that they don't come out and tell you up front that this is the way it works. It all just seems a little deceiving to me. I will get my first Framily bill soon and I will see what my actual monthly change is and then I will pass judgement on what/if the savings based on a traditional plan will be.
Glad to read these issues. I've got 5 family phones still on my Sprint Everything Data Family 1500 and it sounds like I will just stay. I tell everyone that Sprint in OKC is a great wifi use and limited data with partial phone calling. Basically it sucks but with 5 phones my bill is still less than most of the 2-3 smartphone plans of other carriers.
It at least helps when I can't download or even make a call from my house.
@jtsv. I have the same plan so I think I will stay on it as well. I pay $190 for 4 lines unlimited everything.

Yeah cruise is right on this one. I was thinking of doing the Framily Plan also but I get a 25% discount on my monthly bill from work. I called up Sprint and inquired extensively about this plan and even asked about my discount and was told that it would apply to the unlimited data which would bring it down from $20 to $15. I was also told that if I move a line into the plan and it wasn't eligible for upgrade that it would cost me an extra $15 a month for 12 months or until the upgrade was available. There are a lot of hidden things in that plan but that's why it's always best to call and get info on it before you make a decision. They aren't going to come out and tell you anything unless you ask. They are hoping more people just switch to the plan without asking about the intricacies of it.

When I hit 6 lines I could no longer use the Family 1500 plan. I had to go to the My Everything plan. Like I said I will have to analyse the bill and see if I should switch back.

They are currently waiving the $15 fee.
Woah, thanks for the info. I was thinking about switching to the framily plan but hadn't looked into it yet. Now I know it's not for me. It may be a good choice for people who don't mind keeping phones for a long time though.
With sprint, read the fine print
So it's a trade off between equipment fees and the monthly bill?

Essentially. But with the added feature of not being under contract which means you can jump ship at any time unless you still have time left on your existing contract then you will be contract free from that point forward.
I've been curious I kind of understand how their new plan is working but I have a question has anyone seen any fine print on the new plans say in 12months u upgrade but your existing phone shows signs of being rooted or knox is tripped? Just wondering if theres anything in there about it.

There is no fine print in regards to that. The early upgrade portion is saying that 12 months in, with unlimited data, they will let you upgrade at no charge.
You don't turn your phone back in or anything like that.
