CWM Undo? - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I installed the official update to ICS on an N7000 then attempted to root in using the CWM.zip on external Sd, SuperSU on internal method. Itvwasnt successful, i uninstalled SuperSU with its uninstaller using the same method. But now my WIFI doesnt work. It just keeps trying to Obtain IP address then saying avoided poor connection. Ive read people say go to advanced wifi setting and stop it doing it but theres no option for it on mine. Is there a way to undo the whole CWM process I did so its back to just the original update?

So what should I do? Use Odin mobile to flash a CF kernel or what?

That's exactly what you should do. Choose CF--Root kernel from here (they all install CWM as a part of the process of kernel flashing), and flash it using Mobile Odin.

Australian Phone?

my phone is
Firmware
2.2
Base
I9000DTJP3
Kernel
2.6.32.9 [email protected] #7
Build
Froyo.DTJP5
Im looking to install the latest CM9
So I picked this kernel, is it the right one for my phone?
CF-Root-JPM-v1.2-Busybox-1.15.3.zip
Does it come with CWM?
if not how do i get it
So I just put CM9 on my internal storage and just flash it with CWM?
Got the same specs from you . Although 2 years ago. :3
Anyway:
1. Update through Samsung Kies to gingerbread. Will give you gb boot loaders.
2. Your modem and baseband will change(not %100 sure). If so check out your specs and Google the correct cf root file according to your phone.
3. Flash dat cf root (heaps of tutorials-use Odin)
4. You should have CWM and root.
5. Download and flash cm9 in cwm.( do a full wipe)
6. Thank me ;3

How to upgrade to 4.0.4 from rooted 4.0.3

I used Dr. Ketan's method (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1329360) with the SU 0.91 modification.
I would like to upgrade safely to 4.0.4 without wiping my data and having to backup / restore.
I'm not bothered with keeping the root.
Many thanks for any help.

You need to flash a GB kernel such as abyss then wipe cache and dalvik before upgrading using pc odin.

U can flash it from PC Odin or mobile Odin and u dont have to wipe data after flashing...
PC Odin is safer..

I updated mine yesterday from 4.0.3 to 4.0.4 via PC version of Odin and didn't wipe the data. It works pretty darn good, but the issue that I had previously on 4.0.3 is still present here - dropping the wifi signal...
eMMC bug
Thanks you all.
I also happen to have the eMMC bug according to the ChainFires GotBricked
I did upgrade from GB to 4.0.3 (Open UK) via Kies when the ICS came out.
Seems that the bug won't affect you if you go through Odin..
Well, I did it from Odin, then flashed the CF Root + Speedmod kernel in the same way to get CWM + Root + Kernel optimizations on top of ICS 4.0.4 !
It may take 10 minutes if all is prepared.

4.0.4 file size
Is the un-zipped .tar file size meant to be about 950mb?
I am running 4.0.3 (rooted) and NoteCore v13 Kernel so as far as I can tell from this, all I need to do is flash this via Odin and it's all gravy from there.
Thought?
Thanks,
Grady
Just download a 4.0.4 official firmware from Dr.Ketan's list and flash it with PC Odin. Done.

Yeah, use PC Odin and click on the 'PDA' button to look for the .tar file and that's it. Click on "Start"
On the side note, I did mine not thru PC Odin but thru Mobile Odin pro. Either way, the processes are quite the same, Flash the .tar file and that's it.

Thanks gents. It's running 4.0.4 now

Rooting Note on ICS ROM PROBLEM

Hi,
I am new to Android Phones. I tried to root my Galaxy Note using the above method
2. Long, No raised couter OR Exclamation mark
-Downgrade to Rootable GB ROM and Root it. OR Download This pre rooted GB ROM and flash using PC Odin
-Wipe cache, data and delvic cache from recovery
-Install Mobile Odin Pro
-Copy ICS ROM file in .tar (you want to flash) to Internal SD card (recommended, but you can have it on EXT too)
-Download Odin (.tar) version of custom kernel like Notecore, Speedmod, CF root kernel Or other any with same function. If newbies have confusion to select, here is one for example Notecore V12 std kernel. You can use this. But newer version can be found on link mentioned above.
-Open Mobile Odin Pro
-select open file
but i run mobile odin without downloading the odin version of custom kernel (I got confused, I thought I needed to do thisafter running mobile odin) and now my phone is stuck in flashing mode for about 45mins switching on and off.
What should I do?
Thank you in advance for your help...
Christina
Flash Pre rooted ROm again Wipe cache and data and repeat procedure, that will be safe.
It worked! Thank you!
Just a quick question...
I followed all the steps mentioned on the thread up to installing mobile odin and copying the ics rom....
but I am confused with the odin version of custom kernel...I am trying to find the correct cf-root kernel through the link you provided but I can not find the KJ1. I downloaded the one you have attached below mobile odin screenshots. Is that ok?
And also where do I copy the kernel? Internal or external sd? Should it be in a specific directory in order to be detected by mobile odin?
Sorry for all these questions but I looked around and there is no specific instructions anywhere about this part.
Thank you...
Which rom you want to flash?

Since I am new to the android platform phones, I think it will be better if i explained what my objective is so I won't confuse you too....
I want to be able to install and use rooted applications like titanium back up. I read that in order to do this I have to root my phone.
So what I want to do now is to root my phone in order to use ie titanium black without upping my flash counter.
Also I do not care to have a custom ICS, I prefer the stock one for now until I become more familiar with all these.
I followed the steps but the customn kernel things has confused me.
My phone is as mentioned before a galaxy note with ICS 4.04 before I started the procedure, now I have Gingerbread 2.35.
What should I do?
Thank you

Go to this thread and just flash the kernel using PC Odin.(First way)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1329360
You will have CWM and rooted device. After that you can use Titanium Backup and all other applications which required root
Sahil hez on gb rooted.rom. So no need to flash custom kernel with pc odin. i think mobile odin will b best for him.

Go to first link on my signature, download any ics rom you want
Download notecore kernel std tar version

Thank you for the quick reply!!!
Just to be sure, when you say first method you mean the one below
1. Short, easy - requires to reset counter
-Download Odin (.tar) version of custom kernel like Notecore, Speedmod, CF root kernel Or other any with same function. If newbies have confusion to select, here is one for example Notecore V12 std kernel. You can use this. But newer version can be found on link mentioned above.
-Flash it using PC odin for PDA tab.
-You will get exclamation mark and raised counter, which can be reset with Triangle Away
-First time opening triangle away application, it will ask to download file(flasher), let it complete. then choose to reset counter, it will restart in special recovery an finish job.\
If yes, then this brings us back - almost - to my original question....how do i use the custom kernel (cf or notecore) with odin? I know it uzips to a zimage etc but how do I use it which odin? Also which cf kernel -if iuse this one- is correct for my phone? Is there a link you can provide that explains all these?
Thank you!

[Q] Note Stock restore

Hello, I'm currently using a G Note on [email protected] ICS, Build Number IMM76D.XXLRK.
I'm thinking about updating to the JB leak for The G Note but im worried about bricking my phone can anyone tell me what the chance of it bricking is? and how id go about changing my firmware from this rom?
Thankyou.
Flash Philz kernel.
Full wipe and flash whichever ROM you want.....
Also, use search as this question has been asked many times in the past
If you have speedmod kernel the chance of bricking its 0... And if you want the ODIN official JB leak just go Odin mode power+home+volume down then flash.. You don't need to wipe going from Ics to JB TW

No, you should allways follow the installation instructions in the specific thread for the JB Custom Rom you want.
If you choose the XXLSA leak from sammobile.com (that was the base leak for all following XXLSA/C Custom Roms) then you can use Mobile Odin - I did this many times without problems.
OK thankyou

Mobile odin and pc odin is similar.
The only different from what I know is.... with mobile odin you can keep ur root, and flash custom kernel.
Whereby with pc odin, all will be brand new. No root, stock kernel.
If ur device is rooted alrd, and u have cwm recovery installed, why don't u choose custom rom, and just flash it from cwm recovery?
Easier, fast, no headache.
Custom rom has some tweaks that might improve performance.
But choice is urs. Good luck mate.
Sent from my GT-N7105 at the corner of this rounded earth
I prefer Mobile odin if already rooted as this way we can change the kernel at the time of flash to be safe
