MicroSd or Micro Sd Hc card for milestone? - Motorola Droid and Milestone Q&A, Help & Troublesh

I am planning to buy a higher capacity sd card ..MicroSd or Micro Sd Hc card for milestone?Any suggestions?

Depends on how much memory you want
SDSC (SD): 1 MB to 2 GB, some 4 GB available.
SDHC: 4 GB to 32 GB
SDXC: ≥32 GB to 2 TB
SD(SC) is far to small imo and SDXC is not supported

which has the best performance?

Depends on the "Class"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sd_card#Speeds

I do use an Samsung class 10 16GB card (MB-MPAGA) and works really good. Used to have a cheap AData 16GB class 10 but it did give an error from time to time, had to recreate partition table few times so I replaced it by the mentioned Samsung.

I just bought a sandisk 32g class 4, it works quite well. You of course will have slower access than having a class 10 one, such as starting to view pics, to play movie or to generate thumbnail. But I wouldn't say laggy cos for example once the video is being played, it is very smooth, just to start loading the first batch of data from SD card, you will have longer delay.
The default 8g micro SD comes with the phone is class 4, so if you feel that speed is ok, 32g class 4 should make no difference.
Also, class 10 is still much more expansive than class 4.

I have bought card QUMO 32 Gb class 4.
Record of video by chamber HIS now goes jerky. Other problems it is not noticed.
Of course the latter is better.A fast card does help our IS run better. No need for such a big capacity.Only my personal perspective

If you need space go for 32gb class4. If you want speed go for 16gb class10. If need both, saving money and buy 32gb class10 ;-)

16 GB Class 10 is better anyways.
I own a 2 GB Class 4,4 GB Class 2, 8 GB Class 4 and 16 GB class 10 memory cards and have been continuously monitoring and observing the speeds and data transfer rates on my Incredible S.
You really feel the difference when you take picture (save it by default to memory card) or play games which are moved to SD card.
I got a nice deal on flipkart.com for 16GB class 10 memory card.If you want to go for it, have a look there too (assuming you want that in India )

[Q] SD card or mini SD card?

I see one member here modded his Note to take a normal sized SD card.... is there any advantage using the full-sized cards to the mini ones?
Go with MicroSD. There is no difference between them, except the fact that SD card won't fit and moddying the phone to force it in - is generally not a very good idea.
Well, there are three differences:
1) Size: Regular SDXC available to 128 GB, mSDXC 64 GB only
2) Speed: Regular SDXC up to class16, mSDXC class6
3) Pricing: Regular SDXC are cheaper than mSDXC
It's your choice...I choose the 64 GB mSDXC from SanDisk (cos no modification is necessary)
Regards
so i take it that for the same class of card there is no performance benefit of full size SD over micro..
although his set-up does allow hot-swapping...not sure if there are any benefits to that though.

I thought microSDXC went up to class10. At least thats what I think I have
I read somewhere there is no added benefit on using over class 10 sd card on a mobile phone. Actually Class 6 is more than enough according to some benchmarks. Sorry I cannot quote right now.

Would like to ask whether any significant performance different between Class 4 and Class 6 card. Last I check the price of a 32 class 4 / class 6 scandisk is nearly 40% price premium.

So I'm assuming you got the 64GB micro SD card to work in the Note? Anything special you need to do to get it to work? I know I had to format the card first in my Evo 3D. Thanks.

@fabianfred
Yes, I did forget the hotswap possibility, cos you don't need to remove the battery.
If you need more than 59,46 GB for music, movies etc you should get a regular SDXC.

@jeffs99
I've found the class16 at ebay, but I'm not sure if the speed is achievable.
Just google for sdxc class16 and you'll see.

@f1nzup
Nothing special needed.
Just put it in your Note and format it in there.
Voila, you've got 59,46 GB to spam.

About Memory Card: Sandisk 16 GB Class 10 Micro Memory Card.

Does any one Has This?
As you all know the ace's internal memory has very low and a class 4 sd card is not fully supported the scripts like app2sd, link2sd etc..
You have to have atleast class 6 sd card to work that scripts on your device and increase the internal memory of your device.
I am planning to buy a 16 GB Class 10 sandisk micro memory card with 5 year warrenty from filpkart.
I want to know about the review.
You can post about your memory cards and their classes.
Is there anybody has the class 10 micro sd?
Hows the performance are getting?

I have the class 10 (UHS I) 16 GB sandisk micro sd card...works good, but you wont see much difference on your phone for basic things if u buy a class 6 or 8...but overall ifvyou notice closely, yes it is fast ...

Fyi, I had 3 partitions on this, for storage, swap and sd-ext (Amarullz script installed)...

sandisk 16gb class 10 mobile ultra
buy from here http://adexmart.com/memory-cards/4419-sandisk-16gb-mobile-ultra-microsdhc-card-class-10.html for 775rs
i am using it with int2ext+ by creating ext3 partition using clockwork mod
i have also tried amarullz
speed is awesome!!
dont buy from flipkart its expensive http://www.flipkart.com/sandisk-mem...-cb369ed42598&srno=m_1_2&otracker=from-search
Using a class 10 16 GB SanDisk Ultra micro SD. Comes with a lifetime warranty (10 years in Canada) and only costs $30 CDN. It was a really worthwhile purchase and I find that it works way better than the stocked 4GB class 4 Samsung one.
Same for me, i'm using Sandisk 16 GB Class 10, works fine for almost 2 years, i've tried amarullz script and link2sd, both worked just fine
Transcend
I am using a Transcend 16GB Class 10 micro sd and its awesome.
I'm using a Samsung class 10 and tested the R/W speed using A1 SD Bench. It gave me 10.32 MB/s on read and 6.22 MB/s on write. I do feel the difference with the older, a Sandisk Class 4.
Cards...
I have to many cards.
Sandisk 200gig, 64igig, 3-32gig,4-16gig

Which SD to buy ?

I have been using Sandisk 16GB Class 4 for a while now, and I need to increase my storage (32GB)
I am confused between these two cards:
Samsung 32GB Class 10 for 1599 INR (29.43 USD)
Sandisk 32GB Class 4 for 1216 INR (22.38 USD)
Which one should I go for ?
If your not looking for fast write speeds or using as a "swapped" internal memory, just go for the class 4, never pay more than you need for memory cards, they date to fast.
I thought greater speed (class10) would be nice,
I was just wondering if samsung is good against sandisk or not ?
Also does samsung cards work with WP7 ?
i am using samsung class 6
16gb
and it works flawlessly for wp7 and native sd (android)

Why not go for the 64GB cards that are available now? They are selling for around $50 (for a SanDisk class 10 even) and they work great in an HD2. See my posts about this here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=33028241&postcount=9 Basically the same post here as well, but I added a bit more info http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=33102891#post33102891 You can never have too much storage space.
Be careful with class 10 cards as for phone memory use they are not the best.
Good quality class 4 or 6 is best all round card with better sequential speeds that are more in line with phone usage thus better performers & cheaper/easier sourced plus less prone to issues/compatibility ...
i use sandisk
I bought the Samsung 32GB Class 10. It is really fast. I'm using Android via NAND and you can improve your smartphon experience by upgrading your system with this card a lot.
I use a 16GB class 10 Sandisk micro sd
I use SanDisk Ultra microSDHC UHS-1 8GB card.
Worked very well with JellyTime NativeSD ROM and now with WP7 ROM 8858. So cheap and lightning fast. I recommend it for everyone, great memory card!
I use 32 GB Class10 Transcend Extrem Speed (Ultimate), this card has a very well performance with WP7 and NativeSD.

Second place in random speed (4k R/W)!
Which is important for WP7, NativeSD or Nandroid with A2SD, DataOnExt, ect.
