Hello,
I cannot charge my note, neither from genuine Samsung charger, nor from my laptop using usb. It shows dots for a couple of minutes- up to 15 I guess, but the green battery is not filling with its juice. After a quater yellow triangle with exclamation mark appears on the screen.
I am able to switch it on, while the dots are on the screen, but after logging it, message appears that my battery is low and I should plug in the charger (but it is plugged...), thank after a couple of minutes battery remains 1% and goes to 0% I asume as GNote switches off.
Kernel is 2.6.35:7-N7000XXKL3-CL793489 [email protected]#2
And Baseband version N7000DDKL1
I guess it is a software error, because it worked well for previous owner while on CM9 (or the previous owner lied to my and sold me faulty item ;( )
Is it possible to somehow flash it or change the rom to any other while having that issue with battery? I mean while seing that yellow triangle?
Things I did that did not help:
- tried to clean usb slot,
- took off battery for a couple of minutes so somehow reset the device
- plug it to laptop
mhm, had that problem too, but removing USB and putting back and it works.
did you tried another USB cable?
other thing I got while charging under Android was "stopped charging, battery temperature to high" very strange...

I can only charge it via my laptop, but it takes ages - 10-12 hours to charge....
Any ideas why travel charger (added to set) is not working?
Now, while GNote is plugged it is still draining the battery
Had similar problems,
I have 3 stock USB cables and 2 chargers - I can only charge via one of the cables, unfortunately my rabbit chewed it within an inch of it's life..
I bought a new USB cable, Which connects via data mode to my PC but will not charge when using it in PC or wall charger.. Shows connected and charging - but battery continues to deplete...
Fortunately as I have one working cable I try to keep both batteries fully charged..

Could always try Dr. K's Suggestion:
Remove battery for few min
re insert and just plug in to charge.
Afetr few min try to switch on
I've had similar problems recently myself. I think in my case it's a bug in the CM9 nightly i was using.
Plugged into the charger over night, no charge on the phone. Reboot of the phone has fixed this for me. I updated CM9 yesterday and the problem is gone for me.
I'm using a SE charger and it works fine. Charging via laptop works great as well.

Edit: thanks to this post, my problem has been solved. Thanks!
So last night I went from stock motorola 2.2 to this wonderful-seeming version of CyanogenMod on my UK milestone - the install went flawlessly, but now I have a problem - my battery is not charging at ALL.
While the phone was on last night after I charged it, it was plugged in, first to my PC and then to the wall socket. In both cases, the battery indicator had a ? (question mark) on it.
I thought it might have been some weirdness with battery calibration so I left it and plugged the phone in from the wall to charge overnight. This morning, my phone was telling me to connect my charger (despite it being plugged in) and on removing the power cable, it died due to no battery power left within 10 minutes.
While plugged in from the wall, the battery indicator comes up but again just contains a ? on it. The little white light next to the power socket never lights up.
If I plug the phone in to my PC via USB then if the handset is OFF, the white light comes on and around 10 mins later it gets enough juice to boot up. The problem is that when the CM7 software starts, the little white light disappears, the phone stops charging despite the cable being present, and it then dies 2 minutes later.
I know the battery is fine because it was perfectly fine before I installed CM7.
Anyone else experienced this problem and/or know how to fix it?
One thing I did manage to do before it died was install a battery calibration app that I found on xda-developers - this told me that the battery was running at 3267 mV - any idea if that's good or bad?
(and yes, I'm using precisely the same cable/charger I was using before I put this version of CM7 on, so I know they are fine - they charge a friend's SGS with no problems)

Try plugging the phone into the wall charger, without the battery. Try and boot it up and let it boot. Once it's booted up, give it a bit and try and put the battery in and leave it to charge.
What happens if you turn off you phone and plug it in a wall charger? If the problem isn't in your battery it will charge fully.
When you phone comes up, try to disable the 1% battery steps in settings. I got a problem with it, and after disabled/enabled it worked fine for me.
Hope this helps.
On plugging it into a wall charger, the phone comes up with its special battery charging screen (i.e. a fullscreen battery level indicator) - no amount of pressing the power button seems to get it to boot properly (with or without the battery).
I'll see if I can get in and get rid of the 1% steps thing later, thanks for the suggestion

Dude, that was PERFECT.
Managed to get enough juice into the thing to get into the menu for a moment and was able to disable the 1% battery steps option - soon as I touch that tickbox, the battery indicator switches from a ? to the charging symbol and the phone starts charging. Thanks a million!
Nop dude, you are welcome
Hi,
I have a new and flawless Note, the USB connector is OK.
At night I connect the Note to the charger and I put some music on to fall asleep. Playback is configured to just play one album once.
Normally I put the phone in Flight Mode, in order to sleep without unnecessary radiation next to me.
On some few occations (it happend to me for like 5 times now), in the morning, the phone is not charged at all! But I am 100% sure that the battery status icon on the top bar signaled the charging mode.
This morning it happend again and I noticed that I left the Flight Mode off (because my wife is away and I want to stay in contact if needed).
Also, I noticed that I have been using a ZTE charger specked with 750mA, while the original Samsung Galaxy Note charger is rated 1000mA.
Can it be, that I was using the ZTE charger on its limit and that having apps running, or maintaining flight mode off, was enough to actually not being able to deliver that extra juice to charge the battery?
The other reason could perhaps be a software problem, like some app draining the battery as much as the charger is able to charge, so in the end the battery stays more or less the same.
I am positive that the USB port is not broken. I.E. I tested by unplugging and plugging the charger from the wall socket instead from the phone and all is recognized OK. Also, no issues when connecting to the PC.
What is odd: on previous occations I think I remember that I just plugged the phone back and it charged.
I swapped the chargers, but still I have this odd impression, fearing that the device might have an issue.
Anyone had similar problems?
Cheers,
vma
Yes, looks like a weak USB charge problem. You get similar behaviour if you try to charge the device from a PC - sometimes I have mine plugged in to my PC at work all day and it barely charges. Get home, put the official charger from Samsung in from a walk socket and it charges in an hour or two max.

What u think is this software or Hardware problem
perhaps this is due to condensation on micro usb port . Try cleaning it by rubbing alcohol using paper strips.

Try a different charger first before anything else.
I left the battery goes down and when reach 15% usb plugged desappear,
the strange is that the status of the battery was over voltage.
Now i will charge it and what will happen, may be is soft problem.
10x guys for the advices
Hello everybody.
I'm facing the same kind of problem since 2 or 3 days ago. I first flashed Speedmod Kernel. I fund battery life was poor compared to stock kernel.
After checking cpuspy, i saw that my phone no longer goes into deep sleep. At that time i thougt i was facing the deep sleep problem people talking about (never had problem before).
But after trying some things, i figured out that my phone always indicate that the usb charger is pluged in. Or more precisely, it's like the charger is continuously pluged then unpluged. Even when the phone is shut down. Under 10% battery it stops, and at 100% too. But after a few minutes, when the battery goes to 99% the problem reappears.
I wiped the phone, did av clean GB install, then a ICS XXLRK install, but the problem persists....
Time to send the phone back to samsung ?? (real bad, i love this phone)
If underwarranty, yes. Get it fixed by samsung. If they refuse because for example you bought the phone in a different country (this was my case) search for usb port for n7000 on ebay. Costs 20 bucks, comes with tools and takes less than 10 minutes to replace. 9 screws and you are done. This is what I had to do.

Actually there is even cheaper one based in the usa. I had to wait almost 3 weeks for the part from hk
Just recently installed alfs v8a kernel with GingerZaraki ROM but now I'm having problems with the battery. It completely drains in a few hours and only charges properly via PC. When I try charging it with the socket, it charges but the charge still drains at the same time when I'm using it, I've tried 2 different chargers as well and different USB cables. Help! Also, how long should the battery last with heavy use?
Try wiping battery stats.
Sent from my E15i using Tapatalk 2
I've kept it on charge for a few hours now whilst the phone is off and the charge level was around 50%. I went to check again 15 minutes later and the charge level is around 20%. What gives? I tried wiping battery stats yesterday when the phone was near enough 0% charge.
Anyone? I really need to use my phone and this is so damn annoying.
do you use your phone while charging? cause for me, if i watch a video via wifi (and maybe got bluetooth turned on) the same happens for me

sorry, just saw 'while phone is off', maybe try another rom....
do you use usb or ac to charge ?
But it shouldn't though, should it? It never used to happen when I had GingerXperia.
i would give it a try... you've got nothing to lose..
I charge using both USB and AC. It charges fine with USB but not with AC? I've tried different chargers aswell.
I got the same problem. The battery status graph even shows a perfect 45 degrees drain, after it charged to 100%. The result on the morning I got low battery -.- cable detach and attach fixed the problem, anyway. On any ROM. What is faulty here?
IS the notification light on?
I have just made a guide for this here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1875257
Following the battery drain instructions on the Ginger Zaraki thread seems to have solved the problem but I haven't tried charging using AC yet, still USB.
It was working fine up till 10 mins before I went to bed. It was sitting on the cheotech wireless fast charger, topped off at 100%. I moved over to my bed and took my phone, started watching some youtube. After a while I put it on a nearby wired charger and....nothing. No charging. I tried another cable / socket? Still nothing. The wireless charger? Nothing. USB to computer? No charge or indication that anything connected on my computer. Restarting the phone had no effect, nor did keeping the phone off for a few hours.
Any ideas?
Edit: appears to be similar, but not the same issues to this guy: http://forum.xda-developers.com/note5/help/suddenly-smart-dock-connected-usb-t3244683
The issue seems to have appeared after opening the cardbord VR setting in the youtube app. Its the setting that appears in the gear button after you have started a video.
Hi, I just had a similar issue today. My phone wasn't charging regardless if it were connected to the PC or any wall sockets. It was as if my USB port just wouldn't do anything.
So eventually my phone had been depleted to zero percent battery life, now the phone starts charging again normally. I'm little worried as to why it was doing this in the first
place. However it's working now.
**An update phone stopped charging at 46% battery.
---------- Post added at 04:56 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:25 PM ----------
Also it seems I have to hold power button and volume down to reboot it in order for it to charge again.
I am experiencing a similar issue. It stopped USB charging five weeks ago and after one week wireless too. I had left it on the side for two weeks on the wireless charger when suddenly it started to charge. Everything was perfect for the last one week (both charging wireless and USB in both fast and normal. This morning, while USB plugged in, it shows the battery being depleted (no overnight charge). Dead again.
I did factory reset several times.
