[Q] Dell Streak car mount options

Hi all. I am hoping someone here can help me find the right car mount for my Streak. Its in an otterbox commuter case. I want a mount that will fit the Streak securely while in the case and also be able to charge the phone while mounted. Would appreciate any input.

Have you used the search option or looked on ebay or done any work at all? There are a bunch of threads already including one i made, if you search "dell streak 5 car holder" in ebay you will find what you need!

I actually found one at walmart in the automotive department. $15. Fits perfect and leaves room to plug in the charger.

i just ordered for my Dell Streak .....I am from India and if u know the roads here are not so plain , quite much unstable ................so as a whole it passed strenght test also

I tried it and it's horrible. Wont stick on my car and the streak wont stick on the holder

Any further on with this? I'm looking for the same, something that doesn't stick to the window, but mounts on the dash.

Just ended up using some little brackets and vhb double stick tape. Hasnt fallen off sknce and my xar is a very stiff ride, I feel every little bump

I'm considering buying the offical car kit, It's quite expensive (£30) but I think it will be worth it.

I bought mine the day u posted this on e-bay and its the best for the Dell streak 5. arrived in the mail last week (the both of them) the original car mount from Dell is fantastic plus u can use the XM-Radio vents .pocketables.com/2011/03/xm-radio-vent-clip-mount-fits-dell-streak-car-kit-holder.htmlwhich gives u a better and closer feel to the device while you drive. Buy both from e-bay cheap. Please view link below

Slipgrip makes a great holder and they have versions from naked to otterbox defender and all in between. Check them out on ebay

I went ahead and ordered this since I really need a good car mount. I will report back once it arrives in 1-3 weeks.

So.. it's just a universal mount made by Pleomax, who also supposedly makes Samsung official accessories? Kind of shady.
I'll wait for a real dock with a charger and preferably audio out over usb.

Pity that there is not a proper car dock yet. Had to buy a new car mount aswell. I just bought some pretty generic and cheap holder from Ebay to hold the phone in place while waiting for some cheap docking solution.

I understand Pleomax makes accessories for Samsung, but this is definitely a Universal car dock, probably this one: http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/cell-phones-accessories/ECS-K200BEGSTA
Advertising it as a Genuine Samsung Note 2 car dock is misleading.

I highly doubt it since there is no micro USB integrated into it. It's just a piece of plastic so your phone doesn't know it's in it.
Just put an NFC tag on the dock. When you insert it, it will do whatever you programmed it to do.
That dock looks like any ordinary eBay generic piece of plastic, BTW. Nothing special about it, IMO. I have a generic squeeze handle one and it works great with any case. The one in the OP looks to only work naked. Not worth the hassle, IMO.

Thanks for the reply. I was wondering since some phone and dock doesn't need to be connected to switch, which confused me on how does the docking work. Anyway I have some NFC tags but so far the is no good app to automatically enable the driving mode without starting S Voice. I tried tasker and I can configure it to switch to the car mode (the icon appeats) but it doesn't enable driving mode (the one which enable the phone to read out events).

Best car vent mount?

I do an awful lot of traveling, which means an awful lot of rental cars. At home I use a Pro-Clip system for my Note 2, but haven't found anything that is easily packed and easily transferable from rental car to rental car. I would rather have a vent mount solution than a "windshield suction cup" or a "weighted bean bag that rests on the dash".
Anyone have experience with a solid, small, easily-packed vent mount/clip that will accommodate the Note 2?

Just ordered the CD one for 17 bucks. Won't ship til 21st though. I tried a vent mount from Radio Shack that was on clearence but didn't work right with my vents.

Cool. I used to use ProClip mounts but I switch phones so frequently that I had to stop doing that. I've been using one for about 6 months and it's been great

Looks good, but a little bit bulkier than I'd like. Ideally it would be something that fits easily into the outside pocket of my computer bag with minimal fuss. I hadn't thought about a CD-slot holder, thanks for the pointer. I'm not sure it's a workable solution for me, though, as not all my rentals have a CD slot in the dash. I'm almost tempted to grab a couple of design engineers and put up a Kickstarter for something sturdy that folds credit-card thin and hooks into the vents. =)

Alright thanks. And I have a red '98 Trans Am (not a WS6) with the 6 speed. I'm jealous. imo the WS6 hood should have looked like the Firehawk's as it fits the curves of the car better.

I use this mount as well and love it. No vibrations, and it fits the phone with my flip case on it. Also holds the Note 2 in landscape as well. The price is perfect but I would have paid twice as much for it.

I had a Samsumg SIII bike holder lying around, which almost fits the ZR. With a bit of heating I was able to bend the levers a bit for a snug fit. Works like a charm!

Invent car mount

I recently bought a car mount for my note 2 which fits in the air vents of my car, from 'invent'. Despite what they said on the web store, it does not fit my note 2, so I get my money back, no worry about that. But does anybody know of an alternative that will fit the note 2? I specifically want an air vent solution, so others will not do.

Isn't the phone a bit heavy for venting? Any vent mounts I've ever used cause the vent to roll down and put the phone at an awkward and unusable angle.

No need to re-invent the wheel I have been using for years Arkon Mega Grip mount and been using it for the last year with my Note 2 (also Slim Grip Ultra works great, check it out in my review, in my signature link below).. What's totally cool with it, it has universal ball-joint mount so you can use it with other mounts as well.

You can stick it anywhere and it won't fall, you can also rotate it completely in any direction you want.
It's not vent mounted, but why do you want that? Theres a million better places for it.

Have you tried solution from Brodit?
On their site you can just select type of your phone and your car and the configurator will find all versions they have for your combination.

iOttie is good, but doesn't work well at all with Zerolemon battery. Trust me, I tested and reviewed them all (check out my signature link). Slim Grip Ultra is the only universal that fits everything up to Note 2/3 and 7"/8" tablets and it will hold a heavier phone even with ZL battery.

Yep, that one is good too and working with ZeroLemon as well as Defender. Btw, you can get these for about $2 plus change on ebay if you don't mind waiting 2-3 weeks for shipping from SH

I have this and works really good, should fit anything phabet sized even with bulky casing. While I had read reviews that it sticks on any flat surface but I hadn't tested its strength, it has been on my windshield for more than 6 months and never fall off on its own.

It is very interesting and perhaps finally right for me, I can only use the dashboard rough, please let you do tests to see if it really holds on a rubberized surface and rough? and a secure link? would not buy his fake.

I have no idea about the problems people had, it has been in my car for a while and still working great. I live in an asian country that has hot climate through out the year with my car always parked under the sun, so i'm not sure if its the hot wheather.
