Just for fun, since I hadn't tried it in a while on any older devices, I paired my magic trackpad to the N7. It pairs as a controller rather than a mouse in Jellybean, and it supports multitouch! Take a look at my 5 fingers. Instead of a cursor you get circles like when debugging touchscreen is turned on. Of course, without any hdmi output, this is not likely to become a dockable laptop replacement, but the same should work on my gnex. Portable multi touch workstation!
The major problem is that it still in mouse mode as far as tracking movement -- in other words, you have to keep sliding and releasing rather than picking the exact spot on the touch pad to correspond with the screen.
Enjoy!

Could be something cool incorporated into ROMs in the future settings wise.
I got my trackpad to pair just fine with the Gnex, but the Nexus 7 doesn't see it on a bluetooth scan. What idiot check am I forgetting to perform?
BTW, as much as I hate apple, the magic trackpad is a wonderful input device. I wish there was an android purposed alternative.
Edit: Must press power button a little longer to get trackpad into discovery mode. Carry on.

This doesn't seem to be the case with 4.2, which is kind of a drag. Anyone else experience this?

2010 White Macbook
Hey guys, so I just installed android on to my macbook and it's working good and the wifi works but one weird thing is that the trackpad is recognized as a touch screen so it's kind of difficult to use. Is there anyway I could change it to recognize the trackpad as a mouse? Thanks for any help
On my Mega 6.3 Android 4.4.2 it recognises the trackpad as a mouse device with some mac adress, then reads its name - trackpad bla bla, and then works as multitouch trackpad with multiple pointers according to the quantity of fingers I use. If something is nt working, you probably have to reset it properly. Reset means something like radical unpairing and longer power button pressing until android ask a pin code for pairing.

I am trying now also to make multi touch work with my magic trackpad 2 on android 4.4.2 (Zenfone 5). I pair successfully, but can only move the cursor / click, no multi touch.
I looked around for ways to perform a reset on magic trackpad 2 (that doesn't have a power button) and couldn't find any...
Any ideas / leads for me will be highly appreciated.
Thanks!

How feasible is it to port this to the xperia? Anyone know?
basically, it gives you a useable cursor via the optical joystick
Could you give a link to the original application?
Its not an application you can download, it is a standard app only found in the Omnia because it has an optical joystick similar to X1
yeah unfortunately it's not an application i can find anywhere.
Shame, as its a really cool app - allows you to have a mouse cursor on your windows mobile
the d-pad (side) buttons must be flatten, or the cam must be come higher in future versions of xperia x1.
the pad is to deep in a hole. its not the feeling, it could be. htc/sony/ericsson have to lift up this sensor!
touchpad style...
but tomorrow, i will test, to glue a 1-2 mm transparent pet foil over the touchpad`s cam.
normaly, the pet foil (acryllic glas) will transport the optical informations
i hope to become the touchpad sensor field, exactly to the d-buttons frame`s hight.
so i hope, it will feel as one unity with a plain surface. so it`s easier to slide with the thumb
over the senor.
touchpad style... *G
ehh, okay. Don't destroy your phone
What about the HTC Mouse. The one on the Artemis or Touch Cruise.

Brilliant idea, please keep us informed on what happens with that mod.
Would it not be easier to steal the CAB from an omnia or i780 rom and see if it works? Would give it a go but not sure how.
I've found something that works...
http://www.pocketpcfreeware.com/fr/index.php?soft=758
But it's not much like a real mouse, or how I think it *could* work with the optical joystick. It moves around like it does in Opera mini, I think SE have coded the drivers to make it more useful in scrolling up/down/left/right through menus, rather than to be used like a mouse.
I wonder if someone can create a program that reads the data directly from the sensor rather than through whatever drivers (HID?) are currently being used.
e: Has anyone found a way to boost the optical sensor's sensitivity in the registry? That'd help a little. It takes ages to move around the screen atm.
e II: It's certainly not perfect; the transparency of the pointer causes problems with menus. also I noticed that the pointer is taking commands from both the optical sensor and the directional buttons around it. I wonder if SE really have made the drivers so that the optical joystick only emulates the directional buttons.
I've got an i780 and the FingerMouse on it was truly awesome - allowing for genuine one-handed use and setting it apart from the rest of the WM crowd. I've now "upgraded" to the X1 and while a lot of the problems have been fixed by Jack's Rom, getting the optical mouse working as a cursor will be what stops going back to the i780!
I've copied the attached dll and fingermouse.exe app if anyone can make any use of it. I'm afraid I have no developer skills whatsoever, but if someone can talk me through anything else that's required off my i780, I'll happily oblige There's also the full i780 rom kitchen here:

Thank you so much, been waiting for someone to post this. I'll happily send a donation to anyone who gets this working.
I'd love to get this working properly too, it'd be especially useful for some games... COD2 with real "mouselook" on a phone would be fantastic.

HAHA, very funny
I recently broke my display and I'm now left with a not so nice black screen. The touchscreen still works : I can feel the haptic responses and I can respond to calls by swyping my finger on the screen. I want to use screencast to perform diverse actions but the problem is debugging is OFF. I'm looking for either one solution :
- step by step screenshots to guide me through debugging ON
or
- turn on debugging externally. I've read several threads about this but no one seems to know whether or not it's actually possible to turn debugging on without touching the phone, so I thought I'd ask it here.
I'm currently on KingDroid ICS ROM Notemania v5 (rooted) and I have CWM v5

I believe usb debugging works in recovery whether it is enabled or not. Anyway I have uploaded the procedure using screen shots, Hopefully you can get it right.
Start pressing home, Then locking the device - We can start from how i did it now
press home, swipe anywhere on the screen (if you have swipe to unlock lockscreen?)
press menu button, tap the screen just above the menu button, This will touch the last option under menu (which is settings)
now, Do a big scroll right down to the bottom, and touch the screen about half an inch above the home button. this will take us into developer options,
Now touch the screen about half an inch down from the FFC (front facing camera) this should tick the enable usb debugging box
Click in the middle of the screen, slightly to the left and this should select Okay !
refer to the pics as a guide.
good luck !

Thanks a lot! Debugging successfully activated! But I had to try at least 20 times before doing the whole thing right.
PS: yes debugging works in recovery no matter its status, but for an unknown reason, I can't stay more than 5 minutes in CWM. The phone always ends up booting by itself.
haha well im glad you managed to activate it whilst blind, Ive seen numerous failed attempts by other users with similar problems lol.

Yep. adb pull was very helpful. I'll see later for the rest.

The buttons for my device is stiff and hard to press. When I am using the phone with one hand, and when I tried to press the back button, it always touch the screen a little and it is pretty annoying. (Forgive my big thumb) :good:
I came from GS2, really like the touch sensitive keys. Doesn't need to "Press" on the keys!
hardware buttons are too hard to press as well for me. Im sure I can use to it but still they could be much more soft to press. The good think about non touch buttons is: there is no accidental press button when you hold phone in landscape position during the game

There's an app that used to work on 4.4.4. Mirror Enabler (requires root), however I can't get it to work on lollipop. Probably have to wait.
Edit: seems like it works as long as you don't reboot. After reboot you have to disable and reenable the app. Here's a link to the thread.

As screen casting to Chromecast is still in beta for non-Nexus devices, it is unlikely that Chromecasts will show up in Cast Screen settings. My guess is that only Miracast devices will appear there until Chromecast screen casting is out of beta.

I tried screen cast from the Chromecast app a few times over the weekend, and it was extremely buggy. When in portrait, only the left third of the phone screen showed up on my TV. In landscape, just the upper left quadrant of the phone screen showed up. The software is too buggy to bake it into the native settings. I haven't tried Miracast yet, but I've heard that it's a lot more stable.

Hmmm well it worked great in the Chromecast app for me. And it works flawlessly on my nexus 7. But that's neither here nor there. They shouldn't have put it in the settings menu if the moto x isn't supported. It's unfinished to have an option like that come up, but not be avail.
Hi Guys, just getting acclimated to the S6, so far so good but one nagging issue.
I can't get the on-screen keyboard to display when needed with the physical keyboard attached. Lemme explain...
Sitting with device on my lap, keyboard folded all the way back. It is rightly disabled in this position so for any inputs I would need the on-screen keyboard (Ideally this would happen automatically since the physical keyboard is disabled)
I have 'Language and Input->Keyboards->Show Keyboard Button' set On, so I have the little keyboard button on the bottom right of the screen when an input field is active. I would expect press the button, select a keyboard and then see it.
But all the keyboard button does is pop up a selection dialogue with available keyboards (even if Samsung Keyboard is the only one), and when I make a choice, the dialogue disappears and then...nothing. This is where I expect the on-screen keyboard to come up but it just doesn't.
I've tried removing all other keyboards with just Samsung Keyboard remaining, same behavior.
I don't want to resort to removing the physical keyboard every time, or setting Physical Keyboard->Show On-Screen Keyboard to On because if I am using the physical keyboard I don't want to be constantly seeing and closing the on-screen verson.
Seems like a bug unless I'm missing something. Suggestions appreciated.
Thanks,
Howard
In Dex Mode you have this keyboard button - to show the software keyboard even when the physical keyboard is attached.

Ive not found a similar button for normal android mode.
I am having the same issue. In tablet mode with the keyboard folded behind the tablet I cannot figure out a way to get a keyboard on the screen. The physical keyboard is disabled like this because it does not enter text. Hitting the small keyboard button in the bottom right brings up google voice, samsung keyboard, and samsung voice. Samsung keyboard is selected but no keyboard appears. Looks like from that there "should" be a keyboard. Im thinking this is a bug.

I solved this by going to Settings - General Management - Language and Input - Physical Keyboard and turning on Show on-screen Keyboard. That seemed to work for me.
I tried enabling the function "show on screen keyboard", but now the on screen keyboard shows everytime, even using the physical one. There must be a function to activate the on screen kb only when the tablet is on portrait mode, with the pysical folded behind. I couldn't do it.
Anybody can share the solution? The link above does not work for me. Shows it is locked or missing :/
