Help me to flash kingdroid v.3.0 - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Im on ROOTED GB 2.3.6
Can i just flash straight to the fransco kernel included inside the kindroid v3.0 package
Or i have to flash the abyss first
This part is so confusing

There's no need for Abyss Kernel if you are still on Gingerbread. Abyss is very often used because it's an Gingerbread Kernel with a very easy detectable recovery in red.
You can use Mobile Odin PRO with Full Wipe to flash stock ICS (LRG) with CF Root Kernel. After that you can install Kingdroid.

So what u mean is that
I just can use the CWM recovery to flash the v3 kingdroid directly onto my N7000 right?

The safer way is the one I described above but you can try to install right away, but don't forget Fullwipe when you are still on Gingerbread.

By flashing a safe kernel like Goku, Speedmod or Notecore for your stock TW ICS you'll get a safe cwm...it is up to you which one you prefer, just try them out...
As I know Speedmod is very stable (no oc/uv but battery friendly), Goku is undervolted/not oc'ed (don't know the voltage table) with a 100MHz frequency, but it makes no sence 'cause 100MHz use the same voltage as 200MHz...and finally there is Notecore with an eye more on performance than battery life (but it is good as well regarding battery)...if you decide for Notecore, flash the STD-version first (not every Note can handle the oc'ed version).
To switch from TW ROM to CM9/CM10 it is recommended to go back to GB via PC Odin to do a fullwipe from there to safely switch over to CM9/CM10. Other's only flash Abyss (a GB-kernel) without going back to GB to do the full wipe, but I read something about that there COULD be some problems at the end...you'd NEVER flash CM9/CM10 directly from TW ICS stock or custom ROM!!!
Ok, so happy flashing for you
thanks for your rich info advices bro, a few questions.
1. custom kernel will render from official ota updates?
2. will mess up my current app, data? like notecore will reverse sd n ext sd
3. needs to restore backup after flashing?

1.-> I don't think that OTA is possible for rooted devices, but via Kies (yes, this buggy software) you'll get official updates if rooted I've read...I always flash my FW via Mobile Odin. You can get the stock FW's on sammobile f.e.!
2.-> No, Notecore overwrites only the stock kernel...your apps'n'data should be safe! The built-in CWM of Notecore kernel shows the correct paths for internal and external sd!
3.-> Before flashing anything you'd allways backup your apps with TB f.e.! And before flashing the kernel, you'd wipe cache/dalvik cache (not DATA!) or use the jbroid kernel cleaning script (this wipes cache, dalvik and fragments of old kernel for a clean flash)! After a kernel flash there is no need for a restore backup if all went as it should.
When on Speedmod, Goku or Notecore you can also do a nandroid backup before flashing any other kernel (I allways do).
And just to clear things before you'll try to flash...You have a rooted device already???
ok thank you :thumbup:that clears my doubts, yes im already rooted with mobile odin but no cwm injected well m ready to try out..

Okay, here we go...:fingers-crossed:
If you stick with Notecore ( I think so, 'cause this kernel is amazing), you have to flash often 'cause Gavin (g.lewarne) allways is cooking a new creation of his outstanding kernel.

from stunner to notecore/other custom rom?

Notecore is not a ROM, it is kernel . And as long as you are on safe ICS or CM kernel, no need to flash Abyss kernel. You can wipe/flash roms on safe ICS kernels, make sure to read the selected rom OP before flashing it.
opps...my bad, i mean cleannote rom. the.problem is he is not in safe kernel, he is using stunner 1.4.19 version which is not safe. i knw can flash abyss then flash some other safe rom..say if he wan to flash cm9/cleannote, after fullwipe under abyss recovery, can he flash either 1? again, thanks for replying.

Yes, if he is not on safe kernel then using Abyss kernel is good, you can flash any custom rom once you are on safe kernel.
But the best you can do is to flash pre-rooted GB rom using odin and then flash whatever rom you want.
yea..but him wanted to flash abyss then flash other rom..doesnt wanna go bk GB to start all over again...

All roms other than created by OEMs (Samsung in this case) are custom hence cleannote and all other CM, AOKP, MIUI and TW based roms modified by XDA developers are custom
Flashin stock GB is best method, you can also use abyss kernel and flash other roms using cwm recovery.
Yes but no need to flash abyss kernel you can just flash first notecore v14 or speedmode kernel then flash to your preferred custom rom.

wow...tats new to me...meaning after flashed a safe kernel (notecore/speedmode) from unsafe kernel(stunner) then i can flash my preffered rom(cm9/miui/cleannote,etc)...can skip abyss, ok thanks guys. but speedmod/notecore flash directly from stunner cwm recovery?

Right, I already told him as long as he is on safe ICS custom kernels he is good to flash any rom, but he is familiar with abyss kernel and if comfortable using it then it's good to use abyss kernel as well. Moreover he is not on safe kernel and has to flash that as well, so it's just a matter of choice using custom ICS or Abyss
Yes, these kernels are also available in cwm flashable .zip files as well, so you can flash them using cwm recovery too.
thanks a lot guys..i will tell my fren then let him choose which way he wat to use.

Safe way of rooting?

Hi together!
I am totally new to Galaxy Note and I like to root my device.
Since from what I have red, it can be dangerous to flash CWM on a certain ICS firmware, kernel related.
Now I would like to know if there is a safe way of rooting, no matter what firmware I am on.
Please correct me if I am wrong:
If I flash some old GB firmware from Samware with ODIN, I would not have this "unsafe" Kernel from ICS.
Is this even possible?
If so, I can root my device and can use CWM without any risk.
So far, is this working or do I have thinking mistake in it.
Please advice me!

Flash Stock LRT with PhilZ Kernel

Hey there,

I want to flash stock LRT rom with a safe stock Kernel.
After this I also want to use Triangle Away.

Thank you

It seems your devices has been rooted. You can just use pc odin to flash any stock rom. And it wont give you any triangle and increase binary count.
But the way, you should not mentioned loki kernel at xda forum.

flash the stock rom using pc Odin. Then you can flash the philz kernel for you rom using the stock recovery.
Forgot to say:
My USB is broken, so I have to send it to Samsung...
Can I use MobileOdin?
yes.. put the rom in external sd.
Flash using mobile odin. then do not change kernel or wipe.
what ever wipes you want to make, make now before flashing ics
yes you can
My problem is:
I do know not if Triangle Away will work now with my Kernel/ROM ...
Can I flash LRT with MobileOdin AND select Philz Kernel LRT directly?
So brick bug should not be any problem?
yes when you select the stock rom in mobile odin, you can change the kernel from stock to philz at the same time.
Thank you all, will do so now.
everything worked fine
Yup, just as nokiamodeln91 said. Use mobile odin to flash the stock rom.
As info given, you can now apply triangle away before flash any stock rom with mobile odin.
Should you have any question, please ask here. Me and other member will try to give you help.

I flashed XXLRT with PhilZ Kernel in Mobile Odin and used Triangle Away then.
I wiped already everything, this should be enough for Samsung to fix hardware-related issues only with my Note.
Already got Note 2..
May be you want to unroot, just incase
Assuming it's a warranty claim. I think Samsung will be a little surprised if they boot into recovery and see Philz touch recovery there......
