I ordered my nexus on Friday of last week and it did not ship until late Monday and ups delivered it yesterday(early, thanks to them). When unboxing it, I noticed they there were clearly 2 pieces of tape on each side as if it had been opened and resealed. My nexus has no problems whatsoever (except for the flickering, which is minimal and from previous devices should be fixable with software). I actually see no reason for this to have been returned and think that perhaps Google is opening the devices to verify good ones before they send them out. Anyone else received recent devices with two pieces of tape?

If you go back a few days, there's a large thread on this. I'd find it for you, but I have to run.

Do you mean the black seal tapes on the black box containing your nexus and was your nexus wrapped in a clear plastic wrapper?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Use the search feature, this has been covered in the last few days. The tape intact/cut seems random. -Ara

I read that you can order your Nexus with your credentials already saved, like the kindles. Is this your case?

There were several owners that reported the double tape phenomenon. These owners were not luck as you though and reported one or more of the common issues.

Mine came this way. I just had to enter my password.

When I got my N7, it was pre-configured with my Google account, it just asked for password. I only had single tapes.
I notice my screen flickers on white screens while at low brightness sometimes... is this normal, I saw you mentioned it.

Ah I've reread your op and I understand that the seal was broken or tampered and was hidden by putting another tape over it
Had a quick look at my box and didn't find double tape. Maybe someone did a check test during the last production line or had to reopen it to put the right adaptor or other stuff in?

Then Google opened it to insert your credentials.

As another (potentially redundant) data point, mine had one piece of tape on each side, and I only had to enter my password as well. If people are getting boxes with two pieces of tape on each side and one has been slit, then perhaps there's something there.
Or not. Who the hell knows anymore.
Mine was in the nexus sleeve, slid out and a plain black box with 2 black tapes- tough to cut.
My question is why would you give out your credential info online so someone can preprogram it in???
It makes it easier to setup and btw, the pre-loading a google account doesn't open the box (they don't have your password), they link it to the device's serial number and when it boots up, it automatically loads your data after you input your password. Or so said the others in the last thread for this issue. -Ara

Hey guys! I have noticed that when I press at sides of my nexus with my fingers, color on screen fluctuates (changes). I've checked at locka computer store and displayed model has same issue. For example, my friends galaxy tab 2 10' don't have this problem. I always care about quality and this irritates me. How is it in Your nexus, does every one have the same issue ?

My 7 has no quality issues. No color problems arise by pressing on the screen (or course I don't smash it with extreme force), no screen lift, creaks, rattles or groans. For $250 I couldn't be happier. I've even dropped it (albeit never a severe high drop onto extremely hard surfaces) with no scratches or damage.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
How hard are you pressing, really?
It took decent force for me to see any change in my screen, far more force then it would receive during normal use or under game play.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
Worst is left side. Normal finger pressure or really any pressure couse black to change. Really frustrating.

So that is why the white model is gone.

Even if that were true, it makes no sense.
Marketing Dept: "hey guys, we've got a new tablet coming out, so lets stop selling our hugely popular phone"
It makes sense to me ... All White nexus models were sold for a limited time.
I also don't believe they will stop selling the black model...No reason to.

I'm noticing the 'home' screen has faster changing backgrounds and more regular moving of on screen elements to prevent screen burn, which I like as am using on a plasma tv. Background changes every ~13 secs and the chromecast name 'section' moves a bit every 4 seconds. More than before. Now back to rewatching 24 season 1...

Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
Ever since the update, I've lost the ability to cast from my phone and do anything else. When I go back to Netflix to control what's already being casted, it says it can't cast to the device.
After trying everything, I've found that power cycling the Chromecast is the reliable fix.
Maybe the next update will be better for me.
