I asked aragorn7 if he could have a look at this thread. He is using P990 stuff on his SU660, I think he can answer your question the best.

@jalal.mustafa,
Yes, you can install p990 custom roms on su660. (warning: don't use p999 roms -- the hardware is too different with the su660).
Here's what I suggest you do:
1. Remove p990 assert (if it exists):
a) Edit the following inside the flashable rom zip file
Code:
/META-INF/com/google/android/updater-script
b) Comment out the first line by adding "#" (without quotation marks), so that it looks like something like the following:
Code:
[COLOR="Red"]#[/COLOR]assert(getprop("ro.product.device") == "p990" || getprop("ro.build.product") == "p990");
c) You'll need to re-package the zip file. I use 7-zip in Windows or the default archive manager in Ubuntu.
2. Flash SU660-compatible kernel.
For example for ICS/CM9 roms, try wkpark's 3.0.8 kernel:
http://code.google.com/p/openstar2x/downloads/detail?name=boot-cm9-for-su660-3.0.8-120322.zip
Alternatively, you can use p990 kernels (e.g. Harsh's among others), provided that the custom roms you're flashing have soft key navigations.
Note, though, that rotation would be incorrect on the su660 with p990 kernels (e.g. rotate 90 degrees, and it will behave as rotate 270 degrees). I don't know of a good workaround -- I just turn off rotation when I use p990 kernels.
And of course, please apply necessary safety measures before trying out these steps (e.g. familiarize yourself with using CWR, nandroid backup etc.).
Let me know if you need further help. Good luck and happy flashing!

hi

I want clean Vanila 2.2 or 2.3 ROM.
Hi All
Please do forgive me if I come across as being stupid but I only got my LG 2X today and I want to flash a clean 2.2 or even better a 2.3 Vanila ROM.
But I'm very confused as to exactly what I need to do. I understand that I need to root first but dont even know where to root from.
Would someone be kind enough to maybe put together a step by step guide on how to root and then install a ROM please? Or maybe just provide links to each step in the correct order?
I'm sure other users would also find it useful.
I've been using the device for a few hours now and have updated to the latest V10D via LG's software update and have not yet experienced any random reboots etc except for only ONE reboot when I tried to install Swype but that was before the V10D update.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me out here. Cheers.

Recovery:

Flash:
With ClockworkMod Recovery you now can boot into recovery (power+vol down)
Here you wipe data and wipe partition and after that you click "flash ROM from SD-card" or something like that, find the ROM on your SD-card and hit it.
Wohoo!
Definitely the best and easiest way to root is this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1044765

Is it possible to get a review system going for the roms and patches, so we may get a gauge of battery life, stability and those sorts of things for the different roms, etc?
Sort of like done here;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=668090
But maybe working off a user review system?....Trying to think of a way to make it fairly accurate, but not involve one poor person running one rom after another over and over to write a review.

I would like this as well. I am looking at flashing a rom with good battery life. There is no direct way of finding out how the battery peformance is in these roms. Everyone always talks about the overclock I just want stable with 2 days battery.
I have got good battery experience with Slick2X ROMs for both Froyo and Gingerbread. I got around 3 days or 1% per hour in sleep mode.
Gingerbread -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1061532
Problems: Slow GPS fix.
Froyo -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1076454
Problems: Well, it is froyo, does not utilize dual-core fully.
Current I use Pauls rooted stock gingerbread ROM, which gives around 2 days between charges.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1328656
Problems: none found yet.
Can everyone please vote, for the ROM or kernel you're using, 1 to 5 in five categories. Stability, Speed, Battery Life, Appearance, Daily use. And i'll compile them and put it on the second post. thank you.

Okey.
You know su660 is base model of p990 (AKA Optimus2X in Korea)
There are little differences between those. (touch key, dmb)
and I guess sources of those are same.
Kernel version is same with froyo, but it is new build.
Wi-fi and 3G are faster. Launcher is softly.
Unfortunately or not, we can use froyo's OC/UV kernel.
Oh, our forum(in Korea) have froyo's Oc/Uv kernel for su660.
and we are testing froyo OC kernel+stock GB rom. (Maybe, it is good.)

even though they are similar, you MUST NOT flash a SU660 ROM to a P990 device. If you're lucky, it will barely work, but more likely, it won't work at all. "Little differences" have huge impact when it comes to ROMs for devices.
Best example is the G2x, which is, apart from that pseudo 4G, the same devices as the p990, even more alike than the SU660. But a small change in the partition layout makes your device a NVFlash-restore-only case if you attempt to flash the G2x Firmware to an O2x.
So pretty pretty please, don't confuse people in these forums that flashing that SU660 ROM is safe, it is not, and if you can't wait for gingerbread, you should try Paul's Gr alpha instead.

Oh, I'm so sorry. there are some misunderstanding. My device is su660.
and we (su660 user in korea) are using Cm7 nightly and miui rom for p990
with little modified kernel (cause touch key) and lib.
and the reason that I write this thread, I let you know GB for p990 is nearly.
Pardon for my poor english and don't misunderstand plz.
My phone is Su660 too, but i don't understand korean so no rooting so far.

I missed important one.
Official GB's system apps and framworks are changed *.apk+*.odex.
and play *.mkv with stock videoplayer stably.
These are all important threads about modding your IdeosX6 & variants
ie Cherry Mobile Magnum HD A400,Spice CSL Mi 410,WellcoM A99,CSL Blueberry Mi 410 etc.
The following content is very important. Read and understand it like your life and that of your phone depended on it. All beginners are required to have this basic knowledge before doing anything with their phone. To get software/cwm/stuff please follow links further below.
The GOLDEN rule.
"There exists a delicate balance between the flasher and the flashed, which when disturbed will result in utter chaos and total annihilation of mortals"
For newbs : The kernel of the ROM you wish to flash should correspond to the kernel/CWM already installed.
i.e. SUT => KERNEL <=> CWM
If you want to:
=> Flash a stock ROM or any .nb0 file
1. Install the appropriate version of SUT ie 1.7 for .32 kernels and 1.8 for. 35 kernel.
2. Flash .nb0 through SUT
=> Root your stock rom
1. Install CWM depending on the kernel either. 32/.35
Tip: RC3 comes with CWM preinstalled. So you have to do this only for Sharp ROM and other .32 ROMs.
2. Install superuser through CWM.
=> Flash a custom ROM or any other .zip file
1. First make sure you have the right Kernel (.35/.32) and CWM installed depending on your kernel. This condition is very important. You might even end up soft bricking your phone if you don't do this. You've been warned!
2. Download the zip and flash through CWM after following the appropriate steps described for that particular ROM.

..stock rom varies for phones. Mines a CSL/Spice, some people have wellcom, some have a huawei. Go your vendor site or this and download the GB update for your phone and flash it through SUT. Now you can return your phone without any problems.
If you feel something is wrong, or something should be added/modified feel free to drop me a PM

Nice to see that you are trying to bring all the important stuff under one roof (thread) it not only helps the newbie but sometimes it helps the normal user also as one stop shopping when he is in hurry and wants to find something.

Simply install a recovery (if it was like p990 on 2.3.4 bootloader is unlocked so simply search rom manager in the play store and install+flash recovery from inside the application).
Then download the rom file+google apps for ics (i didn't find if they are included in that rom).
Then reboot to recovery and wipe davilk cache+cache partition+wipe data. Then flash the rom + gapps(if necessary). Reboot and enjoy!
REMEMBER TO DO A BACKUP FROM INSIDE THE RECOVERY BEFORE DOING ANYTHING!!

I really thank u for the reply
If I'm not mistaken the process u just explained to me was for the ROMs "Already supported on the SU660" (which I'm having)
I wanted to ask u that there is this ROM called Paranoid Android 2.5 "SPECIFICALLY FOR THE P990".
As the Hardware is almost* similar to the SU660. I was wondering if u could explain to me THE STEPS TO MAKE IT COMPATIBLE ON MY SU660.
EDIT: [ROM][CM10][old|new bl] ParanoidAndroid v2.5 - build 04 [Jan 26] [STABLE ROM]
Important Notes u may wanna know:-
I rooted the device on 2.3.4 GB
Software Version : LG-SU660-V20j
Nov 20 201 13:20:00
I know it's quite ridiculuos but I'm just wondering if it'll work by flashing a specific kernel to make it work
