Help me solving some processes that occur on my Note - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello guys. I'm having some problems with the processes that comes on my Note. Last night i've charged my phone and before i went to bed it was 100%, i've unplugged it and use it for 15mins and battery dropped to 97%. Then i closed recent apps, lock it and went to bed (about 2:30am). This morning when i woke up (about 11:00 am) i looked at the phone and it was 88%. Some processes have an important wakelock time and don't know anything about them. I will post few screenshots here so someone more experienced than me with android can tell me what to do.
This is not happening everytime when i unplug my phone from charger. For example a night before i went to sleep with 42% and when i woke up it was still at 42%.
I only have an Android device for about 2 weeks, before that i was an iOS user that decided to change something. So i don't know many things about Android. Thank you for forum and the support ur offering to us.

I think you dont have any problem

I don't see any problem in your screenshots either.
However, since your are on ICS 4.0.3 think about taking your phone
to the homescreen before plugging or unplugging the charger, to avoid
a wakelock problem. Or upgrade to 4.0.4

Yup looks fine to me

[Q] Battery Drn

I bought a Galaxy Tab 7 Plus on Friday and spent the weekend adding movies, music, etc..So far, I love the device.
Last night I set it on my desk with about 86% battery left but did not plug it in and did not turn it off. I simply let it sleep...
When I got up this AM, it was unresponsive as the batter had completely drained. I have no way of knowing why this happened since the device went off completelya nd any programs I may have left running were no longer running of course.
Is this normal for an unusde device overnight? Anyone else experience this? Should I return it?
Thank You!

I suppose you also let the WiFi and BT run also ? If yes, then it's absolutely normal If no, you should check what apps you had running in the background... and as a golden rule : use the night to recharge and the day to use it.
Yes thanks. I did leave WiFi on but no BT. I typically do charge my devices overnight but just forgot last night so the batter drain was a little worrisome. I will try it again tonight without WiFi on and see if that makes a difference. Thank You!

You're welcome.. for the record : my Tab only drains 1 or max 2 % overnight, WiFi, sync etc disabled of course
Cheers
You are spot on my friend...I left it on my desk last night with 87% battery and when I woke up this AM it was at 86%. I feel much better now.
Thanks again!

Hi,
Not the slightest idea What apps are you running ? What is running in the background ? Basically, I've never heard about ABD having a battery issue, unless your battery is damaged somehow. Maybe you should try a battery-widget to check the system on battery-hogs and/or uninstall everything the reinstalling one by one testing battery lifetime.
Cheers
Hi,
my left my P6200 to charge like 5 hours but it still won't reach 100% full. its only close to 85%. I start charging it around 20%.
Device is off when charging.
any idea how long does it takes to fully charge it?
and another thing is the area around the Sim card and Memory card slots area heats up at the back cover quite easily when use.
anyone experience these?

[Q] what is wrong in this picture???

guys... can someone tell me what is wrong with this picture???
i've got an issue that has been niggling me for the past few weeks now but i couldn't find the time to look into it until last night.
i remember unplugging my note last night at about midnight and battery is at 100% and this morning when i woke up at 9am i saw that it is only at 73%.. what the???
what prevents the phone from going into deep sleep? i only started noticing this after i rooted the phone (am on stock GB) and installed TB.
prior to root i usually lose about 4-7% only overnight which i thought was quite great.. i can't remember if i changed any settings at all that maybe causing/preventing the phone to go into deep sleep...
can anyone tell me how to fix this??

Facebook.......Facebook app has been coded such a way that cpu is still awake so that it could communicate to the server all time and recieve notification.Had the same problem.Removing the app fixed it for me.
do i need to totally remove the app or just logging out would do??
i've had facebook eversince and prior to my root i only lose less than 10% overnight...
i'll try it out and let you know...

however i turned off the background data and walah!! the phone now goes to deep sleep.. even with facebook..
i looked at the note this morning and i lost 8% overnight (about 8hrs) and cpu spy now shows the beast has finally went to deep sleep...
i'm one happy camper!!!

Phone shuts down automatically and doesnt start until the battery is removed

Hi, My SGSA I9070 which i bought about 4 months ago is doing some weird ****!
Phone shuts down automatically and doesnt start until the battery is removed and put in again..
after doing that it runs smoothly..
This happens about twice every day for almost past entire week.
Note : My RAM sometimes gets loaded up quickly.. like after rebooting about 200MB of RAM is free which after a few hours is reduced to just 100MB of free RAM..which keeps on reducing further..
I am using a launcher(Next), running stock Gingerbread and have about 90 apps installed on the cell..
Do i need to un-install them? or the launcher? [I dont want to ]
Please help..
You have heavy ram usage. U need to clear that. means remove apps. Next launcher takes a lot of ram. Uninstall apps you dont use ..

u need to root phone to freeze apps. But for convinience, update to jelly bean.. just a seggestion.
Um.. A third party launcher and 90 installed apps..
What could be the problem, makes me wonder...
worked!
I had considered that option before (updating to JB) but have read lot of bad reviews for JB update and since i use next launcher, didnt really matter about the OS..
Any how..
As suggested Un-installed many apps.. some that i didnt need and some i could have done with.. :silly:
but anyway it worked.. :good:
thanks guys for the big help..
Hmm....that's weird. My GT-I9070P on GB could withstand 100+ user-installed apps......
Please help: Samsung GT-I9070 - phone shuts down at 60% battery; Android version: 4.1
Hello everyone,
Hope you are doing well.
I am facing similar issue as nickchets.
I own an unrooted Samsung GT-I9070 (Galaxy S advance). It’s a year and 2 months old now.
Current Android version - 4.1.2
The issue is when the battery is about 60%, the phone shuts down.
Sometimes, the display gets scrambled for a few seconds and then the phone shuts down.
I am attaching some pics of how the phone looks when the display is scrambled for some seconds.
Others, it just shuts down instantly.
In both the above cases, it shuts down like someone pulled the battery out.
The phone doesn't shut down when on charging through AC mains.
I have observed it shut down at 100% charge when it was hooked to my PC for charging.
The issue suddenly started occurring when I picked up my phone 2 days ago.
I have been noticing excessive heating before while playing a game on my phone.
Also (maybe unrelated), someone gifted me a cheap travel charger (the ones that have a battery in them and I can hook it with USB cable to my phone for charging).
I used the same for 5-6 days about 2 weeks ago.
I have tried factory restore via the menu that's triggered by pressing volume up, menu and power button on the phone.
Though the frequency of shutdowns has been reduced, the problem still persists.
I didn't use a memory card but after the reset I've put one in.
As the phone was recently factory-setting restored, I haven't put much apps in (just whatsapp, FB, super backup and click counter).
And not to forget I have apps that Samsung forcibly puts in its phones.
Can this be a battery issue?
Can this be some other hardware issue?
Can this be rom issue?
Is there any app that could determine what’s wrong with the phone is?
Request you to help me on above.
Regards,
Phoebus

Thanks for replying shut_down.
I forgot to add in the details that I had already tried a battery from a friend's phone (same model).
For two hours, my phone's battery was in his phone.. He played songs for two hours.. it worked fine.
I ran my phone on his phone's battery.. my phone restarted twice.
If there is a battery issue, is there any any android app that could let me know that my battery is dead or almost dead ?
Also I read somewhere that trying to spin a mobile phone battery also is a test.. I tried to spin.. it didn't spin.. but applying pressure on one side of the battery seems to wobble it a bit..

shut_down,
Thanks for replying.. its Sunday here today.. no service on Sundays :/ .. will take it to them tomorrow..
One more finding.. it seemed the that the area around the camera was heating up.. I decreased screen brightness to the minimum and to my surprise; its been 2.5 hours now and no restarts.. let me know if this could be related :fingers-crossed: or is just that, God is being nice to me for a while ..
Everyone,
Please feel free to drop in suggestions.. I am reluctant to give my phone to service guys.. its too far away and they would keep it with them for days in the name of "checking the phone and finding the root cause"..

Thanks shut_down and R_a_z_v_a_n for replying.
The code *#0228# works.
Temperature was displayed by the utility. I observed it was between 27 - 32 degree Celsius.
I am attaching some screenshots of the Battery utility.
Request you to help me know how the screenshots can lead us down to cause of the issue.
Lowering the screen's brightness prevented the shutdown.
I was able to take a call for 55 minutes without crashing. The call ended but the phone didn't crash. :highfive:
The phone survived the night and was ON when I woke up.
I increased the brightness and the phone shut itself down as soon as I dialed a number. :crying:
Also another observation, I accidentally dropped my phone from about an inch above a flat surface.
The screen scrambled (as shown in the screenshots attached in my first message) and the phone got shut down.
Please let me know if the above observations indicate towards any causes of the issue.

[Q] Battery or soft problem

I don't know how to explain this... Hope you'll understand me. So my phone was full charged so i put out the charger and i go to school. After 6 hours i came back and my battery was at 50%. I was surprised but when i tried to call someone my phone died. So when i starded battery was at 3%. Same thing today, i put out my phone from charger after 2 hours i tried to do 2 photos and *bam* died - 3% battery.
There is a screenshot so you can see what i mean. Can you tell me what is the problem? Hope you understand me
wow, that's a HUGE drain. I recommend installing a wakelock detector to see what is causing that huge drain on your phone
This is how you would go about using the app to find the issue.
1) Install the app from google play "Wakelock Detector-Save Battery"
2) Open it
3) Once it opens, reboot your phone
4) Once it reboots, leave it for 5 mins
5) Unlock your phone and open the wakelock detector
6) Check the bar at the top to see if your phone was asleep and how long it was asleep for (should be around 4 mins)
If it is 4 mins or above, then your phone should not be having battery drain, ensure you are swiping away apps after use.
If your phone was awake the whole time, then you will be able to see what is causing this and you should uninstall this app
Also, you should enable the power saving option to maximise battery life.
Make sure you charge the phone while its turned off, apps can interfere with the charging process while the phone is one, this could also be the cause of your drain, so turn off and then charge.

Ok, there is no specific app that is causing that your problem. So do you charge while your mobile is on, or off?
Also, is your phone rooted? If it is, try re-calibrating your battery.

S3 Mini restart/switching off by itself problem

Its been almost a year now since I've had this phone. Recently, my phone has been restarting/switching off by itself....once it turns off, it won't turn back on again unless I plug in the charger. If I try holding on to the power button once it happens, the "S3 mini logo" just keeps showing up and switches back off again. I even did a factory reset and still it didn't fix the problem. Even when I try going through my phone (reading messages, going through settings, opening an app), it'll just automatically have the problem again and switch off again. One time I kept my phone on sleep mode for about 5 hours, and after that I just wanted to make a phone call and again it just turned off.. please any help would be appreciated..
in the morning around 7 when I unplug my charger batt is on 100%
10 min of browsing on wifi it goes to 85%.
It holds on 85% from 8-11 AM
Then I turn mobile data on, browse for about 20 sek and it crashes.
Keeps on restarting and batt is on 0%
I connect the charger batt is on 56% in couple minutes, and stays there till 6 PM
Around 6PM I turn wifi on, browse 20sec and it goes down again.
Not turning on until I connect charger.
When I connect charger it is again on 60%.
how to solve it ????

both of which shouldn't cost much to do
what confuses me is why post the same question if it has been asked before and a solution provided
good luck hope you manage to get it working
Your charger can cause these problems too.
Sent from my GT-I8190 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
i'm 99,9% sure that it's your battery. I had exactly the same issue just over half a year ago. You just need a new battery (no need for it to be "official" as it would probably cost double the price of another non-OEM one). Hope I helped, let us know here

just wanted to make sure if it is a firmware or battery, now i can confirm it and say that it was a battery problem for anyone that has the same problem.
I had the exact same problem and today I put in a brand new battery, I waited for it to drain then I charged and calibrated it when it got to 100%.
After 40min of Internet browsing 25% had drained!
I am waiting for it just to turn off of it's own accord pretty soon.
Update: phone appeared to be okay, although I thought the battery was being used up fairly fast.
Today while charging the phone the battery was at 80% and during a conversation on the phone, it switched off of it's own accord. I then had to power back up the phone.
So I do think there is something up with it.
Any ideas folks?
The phone is really starting to annoy me and because I rooted it I will have to bring it back to stock before I attempt to bring it back to the shop for repair. But that is the last thing I wanted to do.
Cheers
Well after a week now and the phone is still losing juice rapid.
Sometimes it will charge well and I would get half a day or of it. And on other occasions it just shuts down after being left charging all night.
This is after a brand new battery has been installed!
Bummer

you´re device isn´t rooted, so you can´t use xposed.
lots of apps works in background on stockROM like yours.
So root your device and battery drain will be better.
How to do that?
Search on xda...

It is rooted. This problem started two weeks ago. I was gonna put it back to stock so I flashed this rom. Otherwise if I bring it back to the shop they will not look at it if it had been rooted.
I just ran root checker and it is still rooted

My phone has been previously rooted for the past 8 months, no problems at all.
Then out of the blue two weeks ago the battery went crazy, I bought a battery and it is still not good. If I can't find a solution I will then have to revert the phone to stock before I bring it back to the shop as rooting voids the warranty.
Thanks
Thanks guys
i replaced the battery and now the problem is solved
