Galaxy Note N7000 - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Yes I am a noob and I have been reading but I am confused. I have my note which I bought about a week ago. I am wanting to root it and put a custom rom on it. Now I have read that there are certain ways to root the note but which way is the safest. I have a note that is from Germany and it is was updated to 4.0.4 with LRG. I think I know how to put a custom rom because I was looking at the videos made by ashim. He did the Kingdroid rom for version 4 but I am wanting to load V6. Would I go about the same way of loading that rom on my note? Thanks for the help and Please don't bash me too hard. I'm coming from the G2x and its a totally different world!!!!

I saw the S4 ROM`s available for Micro-max mobile as a custom ROM.. so just want to try my I9000 can be update to firmware since Samsung is stopped the original firmware update.

Those are not ROM ports mate , it's just about theming some core apps like a Touchwiz ( SGS 4 ) rom. You can find such several ports in the development section.
What you're seeing is s4-look ROMs for s1, not actual s4 ROMs that you can flash on an s1.
That's a sure fire way to brick your phone..

Yes.... he could use it, only for 5 seconds during flashing, and then never again, neither phone nor rom.
Not even 5 seconds. I think Odin would fail almost immediately.
The Micromax have rom ports that (quite accurately) resemble the S4 because they take stock 4.2.x roms and theme/mod them. The S doesn't have this option

WIll I be able to root and install custom Roms on the Galaxy Note 5?

Hello. I am debating between the Galaxy Note 5 and Nexus 6P. I know that it is easy to root and install Roms on the Nexus, but I am not sure about the Galaxy Note 5. I believe there is root available now for the Galaxy Note, but will there always be root for at least 3 years? Also, will I be able to install custom Roms on it? It has an Exynos, so doesn't that make installing custom ROMS harder? I will have Verizon, which usually locks the bootloader, like they did with the Galaxy S4. Is it worth it to get the Nexus 6P over the Galaxy Note for being able to root and install ROMS? Thank you.
Why don't you spend some time reading the General and Android Development forums. The questions you have asked are so wide bit the answers are all there.
In short yes you can root but may have warranty issues. Yes you can install custom Roms. Rather than buy a Note with a locked Bootloader, buy one that doesn't but which uses the right LTE bands and doesn't have a locked Bootloader. Which one? Read the relevant threads!!!
