Has anyone tried to flash CWM through ROM Manager?
Here is a screenshot that shows when you click Flash ClockworkMod Recovery it gives the option for a Google Nexus 7.
(Sorry it's an attachment, the picture was huge because I couldn't find a screenshot app that works on Jelly Bean, so I had to use my camera.)

Because it is built in. Press the POWER and DOWN VOLUME at the same time and hold until the screen pops. Needs to be the same time.
Please update your topic title to include what it is you are talking about in the title, not some generic Has anyone tested this... like Has anyone tried to flash CWM through ROM Manager
Questions should be posted in Nexus 7 Q&A Thread.

*FacePalm*. I should have known that.
But I was debating to myself whether or not to post to Q&A, but I chose General because I figured if flashing through ROM Manager actually works, people should know.
I will change the title now.
Yes I did. Just install and reboot into it from rom manager.

I use rom manager to install cwm and then upgrade to cwm touch as it informs you it's available, I paid the 2 bucks to be able to use touch. After cwm is installed I uninstall rom manager and use TKT to boot into recovery.
rom manager is made by ClockWorkMod, so it makes sense that you can flash CWM. Its been there ever since i used rom manager.thanks for the heads up though for ppl that didn't know.

No, I knew that. It's just that on new/unused devices flashing through ROM Manager sometimes doesn't work. Like on the Kindle Fire, if you flashed through ROM Manager CWM would be buggy as hell.

Why can't we get this in the official list of supported phones? I've have had and used ROM manager for years. I still look all the time to see if its made it yet.

I don't think you'll ever see the Revo published through ROM manager. There was discussion of it early on, but last I heard it was a no-go. Perhaps that would change with the release of CM, but that's doubtful as it's a port, and not a build from source.
I just ODINed back to I897UCJF6 2.1update1 eclair on my captivate and I want to flash some custome roms again. I have flashed multiple roms for example (Firefly,Cognition) but now I cant seem to find the Rom Manger Free app in the market?
I have tried the following:
Market Enablers
Appbrain Market
Sideloading apk (this works but cant connect to clockwork server error)
The only thing i am able to download is the premium rom manager which is just a license.
Any help?
Im running out of ideas here thanks!
Don't waste your time with Rom Manager. Flash a kernel with cwm or load the update.zip with cwm and go from there. Not sure where the update.zip is anywhere but should be somewhere.
Rom manager is completely unnecessary for the captivate
this is the file you need

Thanks for the guide. Using Rom Manager is the easy way to get CWM installed, but if you totally mess up your cappy like I did, that guide helped me out a lot.
Flashing ODIN 1 click stock, and then following the guide. I had to use Heimdal to get it on but now that I have all the necessary files i can break and rebuild a cappy in 10 minutes. (got a jig also, miracle device, just Ebay'ed Captivate Jig)
Hey guys. I'm sorry to ask. I'm traveling and don't have allot of time. I'm an experienced HTC user my buddy has a rooted cappy but no cwm. I know very little about Samsung. Can I just flash that update zip? The phones on 2.1 and I want to put gingerbread on it. Thanks in advance.

You can use that update zip, but you need new bootloaders for GB. Flash one of the odin/heimdall packages found here. After that just flash a kernel with cwm baked in with odin/heimdall and flash w/e rom you want. Reminder flashing bootloaders can hard brick the phone if connection is lost at the wrong moment or you mismatch bootloaders. Just flash a package that includes them and you should be good. Make sure your cable is good and so forth.. Good luck

Ok, so I spent the last 5 hours reading through this forum and trying all sorts of things, now it is time to ask somebody who knows what they are doing.
I am trying to get my T-Mob 2.2.2 to Honeycomb. Why? Because I had to change a broken screen and was stupid enough to rip the cable for the menue keys and since we don't need them on honeycomb, that seems to be the way.
So I went through Manii's instructions and downloaded all the drivers etc. so far so good. Even used the tricks hidden in the orum to force windows to install the drivers. I am on xp. My device manager shows Dell Android ADB device. The streak shows 'starting fastboot USB download protocol' and does not move from there.
I ran adb to see if it works. adb reboot rebooted the Streak, so it seems fine. Now the problem is fastboot.
in cmd I type: 'fastboot flash recovery-froyo-US.img'. the recovery file is in the same path as fastboot.
This is what I get:
Unknown partition 'recovery-froyo-US.img'
error: cannot determine image filename for 'recovery-froyo-US.img'
I am hoping somebody can help me out here.
Thanks
Why is there a dash between recovery and froyo.you should remove that dash also why do you name the recovery to a hard name it will make the process more complicated so go to were you put the recovery and rename it to "recovery" onlyyy and without the quotes then put into bootloader and then go into fastboot and type cd C:\the name of the folder were you put the fastboot and the recovery and press enter then type fastboot flash recovery recovery.img that's it
Never tell anybody outside the family what you're thinking again.

While your at it might as well flash cwm too. Changing the file name to recovery makes it a whole lot easier. Also why are you flashing a Froyo recovery if you are going to be on HC? Or is that the way tmo does it?

Froyo is required to than use the update.pkg for T-Mobile. Since T-Mob did not support the honeycomb update, this is the only way.
So, I found my mistake. It had nothing to do with the path and the name, the file can be named whatever it wants to be named.
I simply forgot one term.
Fastboot flash RECOVERY filename.
Pretty stupid looser newbee mistake. Finally running now. Somebody mentioned they had some problems with a flickering screeen on the lower right (in landscape mode) after update, guess I have the same. Just insstalled a new screen, so that would not be the problem, any ideas?
Thanks for all your help

I have to agree with Giveen here, even though you might make a claim to it you wont get much fame out of it (if any) as you are new to the scene, even I dont get much recognition with the MIUI port (A. because it doesnt work yet B. because nobody really gives a sh!t about a new dev C. I dont go around making claims I cant back up, failed ROMs or not I still make steady progress on this D. nor do I wish to be an attention whore) so unless you can provide a link that has a working JB ROM for the DS7 (that isn't Giveen's) then we might believe you, oh and we will know if you have used Giveen's ROM as there are certain lines of code that only Giveen uses
You could also make a post with it on the general section with it and ask a dev to move the page. So yes I am also calling shinnanigans.
Nothing says you cant simply make a thread here and ask for it to be moved (or you can even leave it here and it will be moved anyway as it belongs there)
so thread closed on account of mass BS by n00b RE the supposed development of JB for S7 by the chinese? I think yes

Use the guide from here by nirogu325 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1406137
It has all that you need. And when in recovery, it's not necessarily 'apply update from SD card'. Just choose the zip file that you have to flash to gain root. I suggest that you use TWRP recovery on this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2602188
Thanks for your help, I will try the instructions although they look a bit complicated for a near novice like me. My problem with the zip file is that when I am in recovery mode I cannot select any path leading to the SD Card root folder where the zip has been uploaded. It drives me nuts, it seems to work for everyone else but me!

The original gingerbread recovery had an option to flash zips. The ICS recovery did not. Rooting was way easier on GB because of this. The only way to root ICS is to install a custom recovery to flash a root.zip file.

Ok, I think I need some help. I cannot flash zip drives from the standard ICS recovery as I do not get the option of accessing the SD card (see photo attached) so I can't either root or flash CWMR zip. As suggested I have tried Odin but there are no instructions on how to flash a CWMR zip in the tread, only how to flash ROMs. I have tried to search with the PDA or BOOTLOADER buttons but I cannot load a zip file in Odin. I am really not sure what to do now?

I suppose I could go back installing a stock ROM with Odiin, the problem is that the only post I have found with stock ROMs has links to Hotfiles.com which is no longer in service. Can anyone direct me to any other link where I could download a stock ROM for P7310?
Thank you.

Have you tried sammobile.com for the firmware?

Done! Not without drama... At first the system would not reboot, had to flash custom recovery, wipe everything and flash the ROM again and then it restarted. Not sure I am going to mess up with my tab again! Stuck to ICS forever it seems...

Well yeah I didn't mention that you should do a full wipe first because I thought you already knew that
anyway, hopefully messing up with your tab won't be necessary, cuz stock ICS is the best, personally I use this tweaked one:
[ROM][ICS][STOCK][P7300/P7310][LQJ/LPV][Deodexed/Odexed] Final Build [14/1/14]
It is the best!!!:victory:
Cheers, what are the differences with the tweaked ROM you have?

Agree, I've tried the 10.1.3 and 10.2 CM versions before. But IMHO, overall performance is not on par with stock ICS.

It's a matter of preference, actually. In my case, I used the original firmware on the thread and tweaked it to my liking.
