I don't really think it's necessary to have a headset icon appear when I plug in my headphones and I don't want to see the Last.fm icon every time I play a song. Is there any way I can hide icons from the status bar and the notification drawer? Thanks
** SOLUTION **
Modify the SystemUI.apk and find a file called "sys_stat_wired_headset.png" under Res/drawable-hdpi. Replace it with a blank, transparent icon and crop it to be 1px by 1px. Make sure the new icon has the same name as the original. Now when you plug in your headphones, you won't see an icon! Hope this helps!
What rom are you using?
Certain apps have a setting to activate/deactivate the notification bar icon. Also the headphone icon can be deactivaded inside music app if my memory doesn't plays tricks on me.

In CM7 you can hide the headset icon and many things more.
In stock-based ROMs nope!

It's under Settings > CyanogenMod settings > Interface > Status bar tweaks > Show headset icon < bottom option
IMO I like the headset icon, it also tells you if the headset's mic is working
For last.fm should be in the app's options

That really sucks because the only theme I like for my rom lacks a fitting headset icon and it's driving me crazy!

I can't seem to find where to turn off the icon in Last.fm. I really like Cyanogenmod but the battery drain is just horrible.

I would like to be able to control music from the drop down of the notification bar. Using Widgetsoid I can get the controls in the notification bar but they do not function at all, is there any fix for this?
Also the widgetsoid widget when placed on the homescreen works perfectly it just doesnt work in the notification dropdown.

The current version of CyanogenMod allows for custom items to be placed in the status bar. There are options for play, forward, back, and pause. I use it and it works great.
That's cos some roms don't have the ability to have more then one touch function widget per notification line, I forget what's it's called but you need to enable the function in the frame work res file. Not a quick or easy thing to do.
Widgets in the notif bar is awesome.

Thanks for the responses. My phone isn't rooted but this is reason enough
If you need help rooting, I posted this in another thread last night.
Third, One Click Root is very idiot proof. But I will run you through a very brief guide: Download and install the driver for your respective computer's OS here and download the latest version of Pete's One Click Root. http://www.psouza4.com/droid3/ Then, enable USB debugging by going under settings-> Applications-> Development, and checking the box. Assuming you have the correct drivers installed on your computer, you should plug your phone in and allow it to recognize the device and such. After it's all done, open up Pete's One Click Root and simply click Root My Phone. Let it do it's thing, then you are done.

Have you considered Widgetzoid? You can create a widget with the media buttons and have it placed in the pull down bar.
Make sure you have the correct widgetsoid (two versions), and do any other selections work from the notification bar?

I am using widgetsoid 2.x and have succesfully placed the music controls in the notification bar but all they do is activate a popup which allows me to control music which is cool but i would like to use them in the notification bar dropdown like you can on the LG revolution.
I think will root my phone sometime this week most likely with Maverick 2.0 as it seems to be pretty solid
Does anyone know if darkdroid supports widgets in the notification bar?
Hey all,
I know rom development is in the works, but I feel like I'm lost without toggles in the "pull down notification" area. I was put on to "Power Controls" from the Play Store and it works great. It's free, customizable, and works without root for those that aren't into that sort of thing!
You can find it here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.painless.pc&feature=nav_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDNd
Hope this helps a few folks out!

just a heads up to your heads up.. i used this app with ICS and loved it, was exactly what I needed in the notification bar. However with JB this app hurts the experience. In JB the top notification is expanded for greater viewing and actions. This app is treated as a notification and will always be treated as your top notification and you lose the whole JB notification functionality.
Notification Toggle fits well. ICS icons match and notification priority and icon can be changed so it's almost seamless.

I have been using a similar app called Widgesoid to implement that toggle for a while. I had been using it in 4.0.4 and it is still there since upgrading to 4.1.1 and I expand my emails all the time to see who said what. Maybe it is this app(people said the same thing about Widgetsoid), or because I already had it installed when upgrading, but I don't know what you mean by losing that functionality. Still works fine for me.

I'm currently using Omega StatusBar but it's buggy at best. After enabling in accessibility settings I find that the counters are frequently incorrect, apps stick around after clearing notifications, and ongoing notifications don't play very nice.
Anyone using a statusbar with more success? Which one?
I'm looking for any which display icons for notifications rather than the vague circle with a number within it as present in the stock os. It's good to see what's going on at a glance without swiping down.

+1 want to know the best bar too xD
I wasn't even able to get Omega StatusBar to display notifications on my 8.9" HD. As soon as I turned on the "accessibility" option necessary for it to intercept notifications, I got a force close.
I've tried a couple of other status bar replacements from the Play store with the same results -- all fail turning accessibility on. I've seen reports of other 8.9" users having the same problem.
I would certainly like to hear of a working status bar that doesn't have this problem.

You have to go to the Kindle's settings -> accessibility -> then turn on the option for Omega Statusbar accessibility.
From there you can turn on the accessibility within Omega's app. It might force close but it will work.
At that point when you open the Omega app you will want to hit the button on the top-right-most of the screen. It turns on the status bar. You should instantly see the statusbar pop up.
It doesn't always clear notifications though. I guess this is an android limitation with what gets sent to the accessibility api.
Hope that works for you.

Thanks, I got it working. It wasn't worth it, though. Wasn't much of a functional improvement, didn't look that much better, and the old status bar would show up in flashes now and then.

Have you Checked out Xposed Framework and Gravitybox?
It allows you to turn your quicksettings into toggles. The main reason why I used gravitybox was the torch & wifi AP toggle plus it was just update so you can rearrange the order.
This option might be better if you want to keep android looking stock. Also Xposed framework brings in all kinds of options you'd expect with custom roms.
I'm hoping we get these kind of toggles on the Moto X. This is my Gnex. I don't know why moto didn't add the option to add more toggles like the SIV and G2.

This. With gravity box..you just long press the tile and it toggles....no need to go into settings like when you just press the tiles quick.
Most...that I've tried anyway...apps that give you toggles on the notification screen, like Samsung, give you an icon in the status bar on the top left. And you can't get rid of it. Personally I can't stand that. Lol

Thanks. I'm already using embedded battery percentage enabled using system ui tuner. I'm expecting percentage no. Between network symbol and battery symbol as in Samsung TouchWiz. That means a separate no. Not the embedded one. I'm fine with top left in notification bar also.

there are some apps that show battery percentage when they run, like Power Toggles or GSAM Battery monitor. Cool Tool is also good and usefull, but it shows battery and other stuff using overlay, so you can move it all around the screen. And if you're rooted then GravityBox is the best option I know (requires Xposed)
