Can you guys post any highly rated car docks for this phone, im going to get in a ****en accident one of these days using my google nav.
thanks...best friends
I've ordered one of these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150533595603&ssPageName=ADME:B:EOIBSA:GB:1123
As soon as it turns up (ship to UK) i'll post a review.
i'm still using the same Generic Universal Car Dock since my HTC Athena times, until now
mine is Air Vent mounted, which is more secure
all the air suction for the windshield are not always working, over time it hardens and doesn't work anymore
lots of good choices from DealExtreme
I use this one that I posted in another car dock thread.

I almost bought that one, but I didn't like how it didn't have anything holding the Nexus S from the side. And I don't like windshield mounts. (Yes, I know it had a dashboard mount but I'll get to that in a second).
I ended up buying: http://tinyurl.com/63eh7wh
The windshield mount worked fine, has a little lever to push to generate suction and the hold is very strong. However, like I mentioned before, I don't like windshield mounts. Next step was to try the dashboard. Now, I don't know if it's because of the way my dashboard is shaped(curved, ratherthan flat) but the little stickypad thing never stuck. I ended up giving up on and settling for the air vent mount which works fantastic! Looks great, nothing obstructing my view, and the hold is almost as strong as the windshield. I'm very pleased.
On this mount, the USB port is not obstructed but the headphone point is. The bottom "legs" are also not adjustable.
Carmount
I just bought one of these from CarphoneWarehouse. It is a suction windscreen mount with an extra dashboard pad (plus double sided sticky pad) which I didnt use. The suction mount is pretty good. The extension that comes with it is too wobly though !

The Google Nexus S fits nicely........
Just took delivery of one of these today, fit and build quality is excellent. Been using Brodit for years, to me nothing comes close.
Sorry.... as I'm new I can't post a link however Mobilefun in the UK do Brodit and had the passive holder in yesterday - sold out already I see.
Google (from UK) Brodit Nexus S and you should be able to get it from there.
Also maybe try DSL developments, I think they are the UK Importer.

I am also using this Arkon mount that BruceCLin recommended (thanks!) in landscape mode on my windshield. The mount is pretty sturdy with very little movement during driving. It has a very tight spring that keeps the phone clamped securely in place. This is temporary until ProClip comes out with a holder for the Nexus S.

The most sticky part of the dashboard part is in the middle. I have an '08 Civic and almost the whole dashboard is somewhat curved. I found a spot where it's flat, but the dashboard part doesn't cover all of it, just enough where all the stickiness in the center sticks to it and stays tight.
As for the legs, it is adjustable. I bought that exact same one you linked and got it today. You need to use some force to take those legs off or adjust it. I just took mine off since it was annoying to due where the ports were located.

Should turn up any day now. Hope it was worth the wait!
Do any of these car docks swivel from vertical to horizontal??
I was looking at this, and seems like a better solution than leaving my tablet on my passenger seat while i play music over bluetooth.

Looks like a clone of the Satechi mount:

I personally think the arms are too flimsy and easily breakable. The next best non-windshield one is by Exomount but that's a whopping $50 and it's bulky. I'm waiting for a decent CD slot mount from Mountek (heard they were gonna make one).

I have this and a few other members here use it. Holds up pretty well and you can have a tpu case on it and still use it.
Fa1- thank you for the link, I'll keep my eye out for the CD mount.
Kpjimmy- thanks for the suggestion, but im trying to avoid windshield mounts.

I've had cd mounts. To me, they aren't the most reliable thing to put your coveted N7 on lol...but the ones that are coming out I have yet to see.
The arkon can be a dash-w/ help from a dash disk or windshield mount. So it's the best of both worlds IMO. I interchange my Arkon phone mount and now the tablet mount when I want to switch on the torque app
Yeah I was thinking of doing that with the Arkon but wouldn't the sun eventually kill the adhesive on the dash disc?
I had this Arkon floor mount put in my truck for my old Galaxy Tab:
http://www.arkon.com/tablet-accessories/universal-tablet-car-mount.html
It was pretty easy to install; it's a bit more permanent than a dash or window mount, but it can be taken out in just a few minutes. It also comfortably holds my iPod or N7 and it keeps it out of the way but still easily viewable/accessible.

I live in Texas. The adhesive sticks great big time. You'll have issues of the plastic warping first before the adhesive gives out, if it does.
I'm looking for a way to attach the Nexus 7 to my fridge or to my kitchen wall, to be used with cooking apps, kitchen timers, etc, without taking up precious counter space.
I found a product called Hedgie:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/HEDGIE-Univ...905?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item43b2aaadd9
But $17 for a piece of Velcro seems exaggerated. Anyone know of a better solution?
Get the cheapest TPU case you can buy and attach adessive velcro on the back and on the fridge. Easy as pie.
Or... you can buy a sheet of magnet plastic and glue it to the case and then you don't have to glue anything to your fridge.
I agree with the above post. I always buy a few tpu cases to use for special projects around the house. One word of advice though... Before you adhere a magnet to the Nexus 7 make sure you know where the auto off-on feature is located. If you accidentally glue a magnet under it it will effect you nexus 7 turning on and off.

If you have a glass splashback, you could use a car mount and attach it to the glass. Just tried this with my exomount and Galaxy Nexus, assume it would work the same with the N7.

That should work well on the undersides of cupboards and large enough tiles too, depending their surface. I'd say a car mount would the best idea.

I was kinda hoping for a result that'll look something like this (check out the fridge picture):

I got one of those from my wife for her birthday last year, we love it. Holds her 8.9 inch LG G Slate, removes quickly.

If you have an old 20GB hard drive lying around, the magnets in the old 3.5" drives are really strong.
You might want to try what I did with my phone, to attach it to the bottom of my monitor when I'm at my desk.
Take the magnet and the piece of metal that it's attached to and bluetack this to your fridge. Then cut the bottom flat piece out of a tin can and bluetack this to the inside of the Nexus's back cover (I am guessing that there is a suitable flat area).
If you want it attached for the long term than use something else more permanent than bluetack on the fridge.
OP - I am also looking to wall-mount my Nexus 7.
So far, the best options I have seen are:
1) TPU Case with PadTab (Link to PadTab HERE)
2) Wall-Mounted Tablet Dock (link HERE).
Did you already decide how to mount your N7?
Kind of a dead thread, but if anyone else is looking for a wall mounting idea, I'm looking at a couple of these: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004Z88WSK/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A29AY3J0MGBUKJ

I got 2 sets of these when they first came out on some special intro deal and paid $20 delivered. For what they are, they work well enough. Just realize that is simply a pair of cheap plastic holders you glue to whatever surface you want. You only get 1 orientation and size depending on placement. Installing them level and at the correct width is up to the installer
The pad tab from the previous post to your stuck on a TPU case would give more options albeit at about twice the cost, 15 vs 20 + 8 (or more) for TPU case.

lmao. I use HDD magnets too. Guys are crazy strong and thin = perfect. I used 2 for a LCD drawing note clip board thing and it almost pulls the fridge over (not quite but you know what I mean).
For the Nexus, I would use 1. Glue it to a TPU case and done.
This probably the one you are looking for, it's a specific kitchen mount for Nexus 7, i got it on Independence Day, it's doing 20% discount promo again now, good time to get one.

Use it to choose between crushed or cubed ice.

This new mount from Spigen is the best car mount I've ever seen. Mount it right behind the steering wheel and you have a heads up display just below the windshield, at least on the Mazda 3. Perfect.
http://www.spigen.com/products/spigen-car-mount-stealth
It's good but could be better. The sticker on it sucks for the windshield in hot weather. I replaced it with 3m tape.
Car Rental
Would this work well for someone who is looking for a mount to use in rental cars? Not seeing how reusable the adhesive pad is anywhere or if it's going to leave marks that I'll get charged for.

You could use the 3M tape in a rental car. I haven't had any problems with the tape that comes with it.

I've been using this $10 mount for a bit over 2 years now, and it has never fallen off my dashboard. If anything, it's hard to pull it off the dash at times if I want to move it somewhere works great, cheap, zero complaints.

it says...
The power suction enables you to mount on to almost any surface such as dashboards, metal, glass, plastic and even drywall Silicon lined grid keeps your phone and other devices safe and secure.
A suction attachment seems much more durable than adhesive. temperature won't matter and it can be adjusted as it isn't permanent. An essential feature.

I like this, nice simple, compact design. Easy to install my phone onto it too.
hmmmm I might have to grab one of these, I like the compact design so you cant really tell its there when your phone is not in it
Pro-Clip rules. No Sticky tape. And I prefer portrait mount for Nav. I want to see more of what's ahead than what I'm passing.
Nice but doesn't have Qi support for me... I use my phone a lot in the truck so I have been looking for less hassle with cords for the power... got the bluetooth audio for the nav & music but it needs a power source to run all day.
Amazon sell it for #16.99

my favourite mount is the magnetic CD slot mount, like this one, they are amazing.
http://www.amazon.com/Lifetime-Univ...37231&sr=8-11&keywords=magnetic+cd+slot+mount
NICE ONE ~ Like the design. I guess I'll have to ask my dad to buy one of this. He is still using a navigator when driving.
Does anyone know of any current or upcoming car mounts that would be good for this phone?
I currently use this one for my Note 4 and it OK at best. The phone is too heavy for it so it falls off my air vents from time to time (or swings off if I turn to fast lol).
https://www.amazon.com/WizGear-Universal-Swift-Snap-Technology-Smartphones/dp/B00PGJWYJ0/
Would rather not use this for the Note 8 as I know the glass is more fragile.
this is the best mount I've found so far. I use it with my s8+ and it's never fallen off.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M4J0G7I/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apap_wsC6B9f2K5C4r

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00F0IQTE8/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1503712559&sr=8-3&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=ikross+cup+mount+holder&dpPl=1&dpID=51xVyfDYDuL&ref=plSrch
I would highly recommend any one of the osomounts from Amazon. I have owned one myself for around four years and it's so strong, it requires a good amount of force to pull of the glass, really good mount.
Will be waiting a little bit more before getting a car mount but I might use the WizGear mount

I am always a bit worried about these kinds of car mounts as I've seen the horror stories of them leaving marks or taking off chunks of the dash material. Do you mount yours on the window or dash?

There is only one car mount anyone should ever buy, and that's the Craigsdocks mount:
http://www.craigsdocks.com/
Pay the money for it once and you'll never need to buy another! I hated the thought of universal docks until I tried this thing out. Owner is super nice, will reply to your questions with personalized videos if necessary, and this thing just works better than anything else on the market - trust me, I drive for a living, I'm in the car between 30-50K miles a year. I know what works and what doesn't!

To me, the best mount is the Pro Clip. You need two pieces, the vehicle specific mount and the phone holder. I use a large universal since I change phones a lot.

I have recently bought the magnetic mount by Spigen. It allows me to adjust my Galaxy Note 8 in any direction with its 360 degree adjustable nature. Using this mount is proved very comfortable for me. Hence, I recommend it to you also.
