New to the nexus 7 community - Nexus 7 General

I just bought my nexus 7 yesterday and absolutely loving it. I I have never had a more fluid device. Build quality is top notch. I am normally a rooter but will not root my nexus as it is my multimedia device. And I like my movies. I these nexus 7 roms are pretty dang tempting though. good work devs I will also be a proactive member of this community

Are you using a special movie app that doesn't work when on root then? I am not aware of many if any of these existing any more
(google movies works with root now)

Sweet then I'm rooting lol

Glad to hear that you're enjoying it! And you're right, the ROMs are brilliant in fact, I'm running glazed jellybean right now, super smooth, you should at least try it out!

Whoes waiting for Nexus 7 ROM from Peter Alfonso???

Cause I am. Man, this little piece of tech punches a big hardware punch! Yet, there is no build out there that express the Nexus 7 quality wise, but Peter Alfonso! So, have you seen any news regarding a Nexus 7 build???

I think the bugless beast was my very first ROM on my Droid 1.

Pete does a great job, but Ipersonally don't see a need for custom roms on a Nexus device.

[Q] [SURVEY] What is your fav Phone!?

So you probably remember my thread asking what your favorite Manufacture Overlay...It is now a poll! so below is a link for you guys just in case you have not seen it yet
http://http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1785709
So I thought I would make a new thread to kind of go along with the above thread.
In this thread I would like all to post what device the love the most! It could be a cell phone, or a tablet, or a player..along those lines. Please just read a list of rules I came up with for this thread. These rules are more of XDA's basic rules, but I am going to implement them into the thread just so everyone reads them.
RULES
1) Please make good posts regarding the device you call favorite
2) Do not flame the new Junior Members if they make a stupid comment...we will let the Mods deal with them
3) Please be respectful to the Mods
4) Lets try to keep this thread alive!!
5) Have fun with this, I hope its an initiative to not only be a boring old thread but also for people to mingle! lol
6) Thats it
I don't have a phone. But if I could choose any phone, I would choose SGSIII

I like my Galaxy Nexus. It's a nice size with a big screen, no disturbing hardware buttons on the front and thus a little more customizable than most devices and really beautiful, built for AOSP, and has a great community ... what more could I possibly want at the moment? =D
I would really love to have an SGSIII and a Nexus 7. Love 'em. But instead, stuck with an SGY!

AGREED :victory:
I really like the HTC one X, if I were to get a new phone right now thats the phone that i'd probably choose. I also really like the galaxy s2; but I wouldnt really like to get a new phone thats "old" in regards to the phones that are out now... but the s2 is still a badass phone
Yea i completely agree with you, being that its built for AOSP, it is more customizable and more tweaks can be made from a development perspective

Rezound porting

So I've been thinking about porting my audio mod to Nexus 7. I basically perfected audio for the HOXL. Now I'm kinda getting bored because audio is just perfect. If you don't believe me ask anyone who has a HOXL. The only catch is that I will only lead this project personally because I am not losing the rights to my mod because XDA new rule about porting. The downside is the money. Lol I'm a poor college dropout from med school give me a break. It would take me maybe a month or two until I get one depending if I get the HOX+ or not. What does the community want?

Posting here to say this guy is legit. I have a One XL and he's not kidding when he says that he made audio on it perfect, because he really did.

Looking forward to this mod.
Also vouching for the quality of the mod on the hoxl. I use the mod and would love for it to be ported to the nexus 7.

Ubuntu Phone image availability

Hey!
We're preparing an image for Ubuntu for Phones and it should be available towards the end of February. You can keep up to date by joining our irc channel #ubuntu-phone on Freenode IRC or by madly pressing F5 on the Ubuntu Wiki page (http://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuPhone) which is called UbuntuPhone over the next two months
Thanks for the interest!
Edit: Image will be for the Galaxy Nexus, but no doubt you guys will be able to fettle it to work on some other device I'd imagine
Thank you for posting! I'm looking forward to it. I would like to feature this on XDATV ASAP!
Thanks for the encouraging words about the petition! And thanks for keeping us informed!

Nexus and HTC aren't mutually exclusive brands, but yes Canonical said the initial images will be for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. I'm sure there will be unofficial ports as well.
Bring it on... lol i am supppper excited...

Looks like my purchase of the Galaxy Nexus last Fall was prophetic to say the least. I'm pretty excited to get the image.
[Q] Can we expect an image for Galaxy SII (GT-I9100) too?
I think the HW spec is not very different
I wish you good luck with your project :good:
(subscribed thread)
Officialy we can expect Galaxy Nexus image next month.
Ubuntu Phone
Oh, man. Can't wait for the port to my Desire HD/Inspire. Dual-booting with that would be simply AMAZING!
Just saw the vid of this, seems very interesting. I cant wait to give it a try
Holy crap I can't wait

ubuntu rom for samsung galaxy ace please!!!
An unlockable bootloader Intel Atom based phone (Motorola RAZR i) would also be a great project. I noticed in the information it says that Intel Atoms can run the higher-end Ubuntu Phone OS. I am imagining the possibilities here of x86 Ubuntu Phone

IFK if the idea of an x86 phone would be good. It is just an inefficient design compared to Arm IMO.

Hello Nexus 7! Welcome me to the party!

Well folks, my last android phone (and still) is the old samsung galaxy 3 which officially got android 2.2 froyo as its last platform, and a very great developer (marcellusbe) got 2.3.7 working on it! But thats the old story and there wasn't any much development on the phone, so didn, thave anything much to do with the phone!
Well, now I have just placed my order of nexus 7 and am expecting the delivery on 9th Nov. So glad to announce myself on this section. I was an RC there on G3, hope to continue some good work here!!
Cheers!
