I recently updated to the Germany ICS 4.0.4 XXLRG and all I can say for Swype is that it's completely horrible and broken. It used to work flawlessly on XXLQ2 and XXLQ3 4.0.3.
As usual, I flashed my Note over Odin, did a factory reset just to make sure it works without bugs. Now, from time to time, after unlocking the screen and typing in some app, it just deletes evetything I type next after I complete the word and start swiping the next one until i exit the app and enter again. Also, it keeps capitalizing every single word I type, and if it happens to be the word I end the sentence with, it leaves it all in caps. I made sure I turned off all the autocomplete nonsense, the corrections etc, the only thing enabled are suggestions and auto spacing, like I had on 4.0.3. Any ideas? It's utterly annoying

Try the Swype beta. It's pretty good. You can get it from their website

really? Ios iPhone doesn't even allow you to change the keyboard layout much less the input type.

Fixed it. It was thestupid LRG problem, now I'm on LRK and super happy with it. The new Samsung keyboard is a nice touch as well

I have a problem since upgrading to froyo. Now swype will put a double capital in if I'm spelling a word out manually. THis is what happens. And AGain. It's really annoying and didn't happen with 2.1. I did a factory reset after the upgrade. Running JPO on XEU.
Any solutions or suggestions?
Thanks!

Also found that since updating to 2.2 froyo, download mode fix, voodoo lag fix. That and also experienced the faulty pull down menu bar once aswell.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Mine does this too and I'm running the same firmware.
The only solution I have found is to wait like half a second before typing the next letter.
I also get double capitalisations on the next word like - "Hello How are you?" if I type the word how too soon after hello.
Its ****ing strange.
Sorry to double post but was wondering whether there is a way to reset the swype saved words? If not how and where can I update swype and whats the latest version?
Thanks

I'd also like to know how to reset all the custom words in swype. One by one with the swype key is rubbish.
I also get the Double Capital word when manually spelling. And sometimes the cApital is in the wrong place.
All since upgrading to 2.2. I'm really happy with everything else but I'd become used to swype and now it's broken

Hi, I also get the double capitals, either in the same word, or on the second word. It's really annoying. Any tips?

I'm not sure if you want to go down this route but I had the same problem and since installing darkys gingerbread look rom my swype has worked fine and my phone has no lag at all. It's made me 100% happy with my phone (haven't tried gps on the move yet but gets a fix quick).

Yeah, that worked for me too. Now on Darky's ROM 9.5 and absolutely no problems.

Here are the problems ive been facing after upgrading my phones os from 2.1 to 2.2 through ODIN.
1. Glitch in menu scrolling (rough..gets stuck and isint smooth like on 2.1 eclair)
2. Samsung Keyboard capslock double click doesnt make it permanently capital but rather gets it back to typing small letters anew.
3. Home screen doesnt auto-rotate.
4. Alphabets on the right side of contacts, spread horizontally for ease of finding contacts, disappear once i try scrolling on it through my finger.
5. Cant change shortcuts from the default launcher whereas could do so in 2.1 (Eclair)
6. Default Email application doesnt load emails properly. Also when i click on an email to read it and it opens, i try zooming in through pinch technology but it is not at all smooth. Cant scroll emails side by side to read the whole email properly.
Have you guys been facing such similar problems? Please tell me how do i get rid of this? I had contacted a guy from youtube who made videos on stufflike rooting, lagfixing phones and he helped me out thoroughly till this point where my phone really started giving me problems. He doesnt even reply properly to me now. Need you guys to help me out as soon as you can. Any suggestion and advice will be appreciated
is it a costume rom?

Ahh just downloaded xda and checked your reply. Well, it wasn't. It was just a rooted samsung galaxy s before but now my computed engineer actually tweaked with it and got a dell firmware in my sgs lol. It doesn't lag much now but I have to keep rebooting it..because of kernal upload mode randomely making my phones screen go black. I think I probably am waiting for sgs3 to release.

I just got my tablet yesterday and it seems to crash pretty often... it would vibrate once, freeze, then vibrate a few more times before it freezes and FC whatever I'm doing.
What should I do?

Try to root it first, and change your rom and kernel. Did you install any applications or whatever that are, well, funny?

Nope no funny stuff, completely stock. A lot of people have problem roofing the sprint one after ota so I didn't bother... guess I'll give it a shot.

rom links dead
I fixed the links. All links for the ROM and Gapps are posted on the Downloads page of my site from now on. Just follow the link.
I just switched back to Hanger's ROM from CM9 and I must say, even though it doesn't get as high of benchmarks, it feels a whole lot snappier and there seems to be 0 lag in his ROM. Very pleased and will probably use it as a daily driver now. Thanks a bunch for your hard work. Hope everything in your family is OK now.

Thank you
I've learned after years of computer use and building and repairing them that benchmarks don't always mean anything. Benchmarks rarely test the average performance that a user will experience.

Links should be working...yet again. Dunno what the hell is cause the links to get screwed up, unless someones deliberately messing with them...
I just went to ad fly homepage and manually entered the download code or whatever to the end of the URL. Worked for me.
Rom ui looks awesome. Running smooth so far. Little bit of keyboard lag but that's par for the course with ics from my experience. Can tell you put a lot of time into this.

Hanger doesn't check this thread regularly; if you have a "bug," see OP and report it in the bug tracker so it can be addressed in the next update.
Are you guys using the stock keyboard? Give swiftkey beta 3 a shot or the new JB one

Did you make sure and do a full wipe first? You didn't by chance restore data with TBU did you?
I've been running this ROM for weeks and I don't have either bug on my install.

Love the ROM but have some lag...
I'm having lag to the point of frozen. I've had to pull the battery about 4 times in the last 3 days. It's not related to USB issues since I'm not plugged in when it happens. The apps (not any in particular) seem to overload the phone's ability to process. If I'm lucking it reboots - otherwise it's a battery pull.
I did restore data using TBU and I'm using the "lazy" kernel configuration.
Other than that I really love this ROM. Seriously. It has every buzzer and whistle I could hope for and they all work.

Hey yall. After trying many methods of enable the soft keys which i really like my self, i finaly found out whats messing it up.
in /system in build.prop there is a bit of code which looks like that in the screenshot. my problem was i kept adding code when i simply needed to change the existing code to 0 instead of 1. as shown in the screenshot
also as you can see they work in the xda app. but the buttons dont work in any other app.
anyone know why? i tried changing resolution in build prop and nothing. so i need some help.
So again. My problem is that i cant get the nav bar to work all the time.
Okay um. Attempted to change DPI in build prop. It did work and change DPI but softkeys still only work on the xda app.
I'm thinking maybe disabling hw capatative buttons will fix the problem.

Attempted using gravity box with xposed installer but nothing that way.
Sent from my HTC first using xda app-developers app
Attempted to turn off hw buttons. That didnt work either
Sent from my HTC first using xda app-developers app
Attempted to add a persist code to the soft key
Persist.qemu.he.mainkeys=0
That didn't help

after doing some research, all i figured out was that i would have to decompile and modify the framework-res.apk...
even though i have experience with making apps, i get so lost in google's apps since they arent compiled with classes, its all pure xml and all of it doesnt make sense, so if anyone could, please, figure out what to do in the framework res, to make the nav bar work better, id be very grateful
you can find it at /system/framework
thanks
Well nice find so far! I really like the idea of on screen soft keys but what other use would it have that we can't get from the 3 hardware one's we've got? Does the screen feel crowded, because I imagine that with the thickness of them it'd be pretty cramped

Well you could give it a go and see what its like when running the xda app. Unless it works normal.
Um..screen isn't really crowded. Its about two status bars thick. Uses? Um...I know it has a recent app button. And if you're using a keyboard it will give you the option to minimize it. Other than that its just a nexus feel. And once you enable it you can use apps or xposed installer to have them minimized and you can toggle them like a status bar when ever you need it.

Well an odexed ROM basically prevents any modifications to the firmware or any major graphic ui change but in turn opens apps faster so I'm guessing that's the problem
That could be the problem.
Stock ROM works really well on my device so I'm not changing it till we get cm.
But I'm just wondering why it won't let the nav bar be persistent, even though I addad a persist command to it. And only works on the xda app
Sent from my HTC first using xda app-developers app
I think I figured out the problem. The framework-res.apk manages the overall layout of android, I just need to figure out which if the 600 xml files does that and give the nav bar a bottom margin.

Major find or not I've found out that the app also works with wordrefernce.com it's an old app. I found out today in French class lol but for some reason the on screen soft keys don't work with the premium xda app. Also I should say that there seems to be a 1 second lag when pressing the on screen keys. Unlike the hardware ones that are instant. I've also got lag everywhere else in the phone.. Don't know if this is a side effect

I actually get around 700ms worth of lag using hard keys so I don't feel a difference. But yeah for some reason the only work on some apps...
Personal opinion. If you want a nexus feel then you would use it. But its gonna tale a while till I figure out what's wrong. I'm still working with framework-res.apk at the moment

see, i sold my broke first and when i was doing a factory reset and testing to make sure none of my info was present, the nav keys became persistent
So to make the be active 24/7 you MUST DO a factory reset....or maybe just a dalvik wipe, but i did a full reset and they worked fine.
you need to write script (i don't the commands) to enable it after qemu.hw.mainkeys=1
Auto Hide Soft Keys 's Spoof Soft Keys option can enable it via hack, so there is a way to activate it on boot when it doesn't show
