So I just flashed CM9 Nightly (07/30/12) and got everything up and running. However, the WiFi doesn't seem to want work. I click "on" and it switches to on for a second, then goes back to "off" whilst showing "Enabling WiFi". Ill upload a screenie later to elaborate. Im going to try reflashing tonight. Does this happen to anyone else and has anyone fixed it?
[EDIT]: Resolved.

Did you try to restart it? It happened to me and a simple restart did the trick. However I had to do it everytime I turn off the wifi and want to turn it back on though.

Yeah, I've tried restarting it, booting into WebOS then back to CM9, clearing Dalvik cache, all to no avail.

Try reflashing it with the following wipe routine: wipe cache, format system, and wipe dalvik cache. You might have to re flash gapps, but it should work. Good luck.
Try running FXR Wifi fix and rescue.
I'm in the same boat. I bought this thouchpadb when they had the firebstorm and never had issues till we had to switch routers from att. Funny thing is it would not work when I switched modems but worked after going back to old modem to test. After using the old modem I had to hook up the new modem because the old one looses connection. It worked for a week then started acting up again. It won't even connect in web os. It says authenticating , connecting but never does. I'm ready to eBay it qnd get a nexus 7 but will miss the size.

Please excuse if I am in the wrong section, but I cannot get past Setup Wizard after skipping Google login. I cannot connect to Wi-Fi. I am running a Nexus build based on a 2.1 ROM (Jroid's). I cannot go to home. What is going on?
You have to wait for wifi to turn on and if it keeps bringing you back to login after signing in you should reflash and wait for wifi to fully turn on.
Might wanna try another Eclair rom if you can get past sign-in.

Well everytime I wipe/reflash, same thing happens. Is there a way to get to Home via adb?

Dont think so, you should try another eclair to to be sure your wifi is working and you can skip the login.

Actually, I forgot to include the wifi and network stuff in the build.prop lol. But now I'm still stuck in Setup Wizard. D:
I have had a problem develop recently and I have not really changed anything that I can think of to cause this problem but my phone will not connect to wifi.
first of im on cm5.0.5.3, epe54b and im running launcher2... the problem is if i go to turn wifi on it just says "unable to start wifi" and I cannot check the box to turn it on...
now i could go back to one of my nandroids or reset everything but I dont really care to because I would rather figure out this problem as-is... any ideas?
I am wondering if a file got corrupted or something along the way, but more-less it was like one day it worked and the next day it said nope not gunna happen haha...
You need to copy in a compatible wifi driver to go with the new kernel.

If it happens again I would recommend reflashing Cyan's rom and then gapps addon. You can do that without wiping so it shouldn't affect anything. If i continues after that, you may have to wipe and install.

hi, how is this done?
JHaste, did you find a solution?
Hi. I would post this in froyomod topic but i can't because i'm new and stuff.
I know a lot of people have the exact opposite problem, but after i upgraded my froyomod to 2.7 my wi-fi won't turn off anymore.
I mean, i can turn it off but after a while it turns back on again. Even when the device is locked. I wouldn't mind my wi-fi on 24/7 but sometimes i need my phone for the whole day and if wi'fi is always on my battery won't last half the day.
Does anyone else have this problem? can it be fixed?
Thanks in advance!
Try flashing the Rom again and wiping both Cache Partition and
Dalvik cache. If it don't work, do a Nandroid backup and then a Factory reset and see what happens. If the problem is fixed, restore the Nandroid, make a backup of everything that's important and then do the factory reset again. This way you don't lose anything.
I tried flashing the rom again and the problem is still there, and since it was pissing me off i went back to froyomod 2.6, but guess what? My wi-fi turns on by itself on that version too...
So i guess the problem is on my device. I should try another rom and see how it goes.
Also, i did reset all the data and tried everything. This is really pissing me off.
Sounds like you have y5 on an ext partition

Sorry, but what does that mean? Can i fix it? I even tried formatting my SD Card completely but it didn't work. I had the same problem in all the roms i used.
Ah ok. That's pretty weird.
Y5 is an app that automatically connects to wifi networks but there is no setting to disable it.

This is really weird since the only apps i use are facebook, twitter, and some others that don't update automatically.
Anyways, thanks for the help. I give up.
After the forced AT&T software update, my WiFi will not turn on. I will go into WiFi settings, press the toggle button, and it will grey out and get stuck on "Turning on WiFi". I have tried wiping both caches, and I have replaced the bcmdcm.ko under system\lib\modules with bcm4330.ko, which was the one from the stock ROM. Nothing has worked and this problem persists. I am rooted and my bootloader is unlocked. Is there anything short of doing a full factory reset that can fix this problem?
Please post in the appropriate section.

Have you tried flashing the boot.img via fastboot? That seems to help a lot of people.

Ok I've googled around alot and looked on this forum but I can't find a boot.img anywhere that isn't modified. Can you point me to the stock boot.img?
My mom has a Vivid and her phone has been doing this ever since the update was pushed down by AT&T. Since she lives 1000 miles from me, I didn't root her phone, and leaving it stock, the only thing that ended up working was a factory reset. The other thing that was happening after the update was every boot would go through the "Optimizing application 1 of x..." message like it does after the update. I get the impression that whenever she performed the mandatory AT&T update, something didn't go correctly, which is why her Wi-Fi was permanently stuck in this "Turning on Wi-Fi" state. It seems to be working perfectly now, and we no longer see the "Optimizing..." message either when the phone reboots. Now I won't have to do remote tech support when she flies back home next week

I think this is my next step. I tried flashing boot.img, but that didn't work. Does anyone have any other solutions short of this?

There's a link to one in the thread for Kozmik Kernel.

it could just be a problem with the kernels, i was experiencing this even before the update.
Are you on a cusotm rom and/or custom kernel?
wifi will not turn on

Did you install the kernel? If you're s-on you need to fastboot flash the kernel image.

I guess everybody who flashed cm10 knows about this. Connecting to wi-fi takes a lot of tries to work, if at all. I managed to connect to my router at home, but it is super annoying to spend 20 minutes at work to reboot and change regional settings just to find out that it doesn't work at all.
Is there any solution to this? Have I done something wrong? Atm i'm running the latest nightly, but i also had the issue with the FXP 152.

Yes, its a well known issue. You could have asked in the cm10 discussion thread instead of starting a new thread here.
The trick is
1) Enable wifi, reboot
2) Search for network, reboot
3) Connect to network and enter password, reboot
4) This time do it all again and it will work.
So, the regional settings don't have anything to do with this issue?

Not that i know of, everytime i flash a cm based rom i just do those steps and it works.
Thanks then. Hope it gets fixed in the near future.
