Air Droid is good but u can not see phone screen, u can send messages transfer files and more

You need a VNC Server app (search play store) running on the phone, and a VNC Client on your PC (like TightVNC). Then make sure they're both connected to the same network, connect the client to the server, and you're golden. If you have your own domain you can also set it up to access it remotely. I have an old inspire with a broken display setup like this. Since I can't see the screen, I setup a VNC Server on it, with a web and ftp server, along with a dynamic dns client, and I can access it from anywhere. With the proper port forwarding of course

Our new app, VMLite VNC Server, does exactly what you want, it works on your phone very well, whether it's rooted or not:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vmlite.vncserver&hl=en
(it's on sale right now)

Connect to stock yahoo email client app

I'm having a problem connecting my phone to the stock email client. Does anyone have an idea on how to get yahoo to connect.

I am 99% certain you need to pay for it by upgrading your yahoo account.

Open email, type in user name and password, click manual setup, click imap, type in imap.mail.yahoo.com, leave port same, click next, type in smtp.mobile.mail.yahoo.com, click next... that should get you going, it worked for me!

I don't think you have to pay to do IMAP connect - only if you want POP3. For me Yahoo worked even with auto settings. Only thing is, I have not been able to get it to push email. I have to set it to check regularly.
I had it set up before I started using cognition but more it won't let me. It keeps saying wrong user name or password and I know their both right

Any ideas

Yahoo is free for pop3 email but you have to pay for imap (push email) the same reason I gave it up and never suggest yahoo to anyone. Dont believe me check THIS out

[app] hotmail?

Anyone found an APP that will work with Hotmail with a Captivate? Stock, tablet and even K-9 don't support it. There must be a decent one out there! Thanks!

I just forward my live account to my gmail.

Stock email app works like a charm with hotmail. I got 2 accounts configured under it and my local provider email also. Never had issues getting hotmail.
If you want to fully managed your hotmail (delete mails on server) then your right default email app on the cappy cannot do it but it can fetch the mail.
EDIT: Tried delete on the server option and it works. Fluke bug probably.
Do a Google search on "Hotmail activesync android" and you should be on your way use stock email to do push Hotmail. server deletion is supported last time I checked.

Correct .. last time i tried it failed miserably.. maybe just a bug or a bad connection.
Haven't tried it personally, but I do use Maildroid for gmail,Yahoo, and my ISP email. All set to push, even free Yahoo.
I used the exchange server for hotmail on my Captivate, worked fine with the stock email. Set it up as exchange, using m.hotmail.com as the server. Your username is your full email address. I don't have a Captivate anymore so I don't know if you need anything else (like port numbers). Google should give you the rest.
Also, if you set it up as exchange you can choose to sync your contacts and calendar with hotmail.

[Q] OWA (Outlook Web Access)

Hi,
is there an app like chronobis (for windows mobile)
or maybe one like "Outlook Mail" (for IOS)
I'd like to have a convenient way of access my Exchange mail and calendar
without using active sync etc .
has anyone any ideas or successfully used an app for this on the Note?
Gary
Hi!
You mine to have a app like outlook? Not to have data on your phone only "interface" to your exchange account? I use the normaly EMAIL App with "push" activated, nearly like "online" account.
regards
i think the built in exchange client uses active sync to access outlook.
I use Touchdown (free trial available on market) to access my works ms exchange server as touchdown uses different protocols and my work blocks active sync.

I suggest you have a look at www.syncdroid.net
They have a comparative grid and an honest review of almost every good sync app for this purpose of syncing with outlook.
By the way, companion link is thier favourite... but then it just depends on what YOU need!!
Why you ask for OWA and then ask for an app ?
OWA runs in your browser.
I too use touchdown for exchange access w/o active sync... . Works well . .
FWIW prior to gb 2.3.6 (but > froyo) there was a funny obscure boog (ssl related android boog) that caused booth touchdown (in owa mode) and owa in browser to malfunction.
Because of this and that i use linux on my worksations and laptops full time. . .I use a widget called davmail (goto sourceforge to find it). DAVmail is a sort of exchange proxy that turns owa into other common mail and calendaring protocols. . .
It is not an app. . .but an application you run on a desktop, workstation, server etc... Then you can configure just about any email app (on about any device) to pop or imap email to your davmail install. . Etc.etc.etc.. it worked fine using whatever the email app is that comes stock or with common roms for an SGT.

Intersting site but no owa sync that I could see
I might try some of the software regardless

Yep OWA is accessible via the browser but isn't offline
so I effectively want to save it's data. there are program/apps that work by effectively attaching to echange as an "OWA" client and bring the info over

[Q] HTC Sync Manager for Mac - contacts and calendar - does it actually work?

Hi,
Just a quick question. For my work I use an MacBook Pro and Office for Mac 2011. Previously when I used Windows PCs I used to sync my HTC Sensation (and Desire previously) with Outlook 2007 - this worked really well. But since having to work on an Apple I haven't been able to sync my phone to the mac very successfully (I have used Sync Mate, which was okay, but I got a lot of duplicates).
So, basically, I was thinking "maybe I'll have to get an iPhone to able to sync my phone to my Mac". But now I see that I can use HTC Sync Manager for Mac if I get a HTC One. The thing is, has anyone actually used it to sync their contacts/calendar with Office for Mac 2011 (Outlook 2011)? Does it work and if it does how successful is it? (I always found syncing my HTC with my old Windows machine worked really well - It'd be great if it was the same with the Mac)
If it works well then I'll stick with HTC and get a HTC One - which is my preferred option.
Cheers
Anyone have one of these with a Mac? Bump!
If you tell me how to sync then I'll try

well according to the HTC Sync Manager for Mac (which is on the HTC website - http://www.htc.com/www/software/htc-sync-manager/?section=Requirement) you download that, connect your device, sort out your setting (conflicts, calendar range, etc) and it syncs. Just like HTC Sync used to do with Outlook on a PC. If they've really managed to make this work then it's great and I'll order a HTC One and pass on my Sensation. I can't test it with Sensation as it's running Sense 3.6 and the Sync Manager only works on Sense 4 and above. Cheers! :good:
It works

Did you just plug in your phone and it worked?
HTC Sync (or mac) just doesn't detect the phone when i plug it in, even on debugged mode.
i used htc sync to transfer my iphone backup to my one. works great transferring my photos contacts and calendar.
What are you using Outlook for exactly? You mentioned that it's for work, if you're connecting to an Exchange server (which us probably the only really worthwhile reason for using Outlook) then you want to sync your phone over the air to the Exchange server...much easier than phone to computer.

It works for me .:victory:
why not just use google sync? its only 100 x better, and will sync with any android device.

Spot on.. this is what I do on my macbook pro. I have my calendar on macbook pro my outlook 2011 and all syncing to my exchange server.. and then i sync my htc to the exchange server as well.. the best way of keeping your phone synced... unless you really have data limitations on your phone..

Mail app issue !!

Hi
mail app in BS is not REALLY working " i mean when i choose emails and deleted it' it is showed to be deleted but on computer i can see all messages not deleted "
this not happened with Note 2
thanks
Sent from my HTC Butterfly s
Lots of possible reasons for this. You need to set a setting for an email client to delete from server as well when you hit delete on the client. That or your email was already downloaded to your computer client via pop3 which makes it a separate copy from the server.

It usually happens when you've configured your mail with pop3 protocol. Try to reconfigure it to work with imap or just use ano
thanks .. but i can't change the server to imap , it gives me can't to connect to the server !!
Your server must support the imap protocol. What email server software is it?

Yeah those two are known for not letting you use imap. The problem isn't with the phone or the mail app. The issue is with the protocol. It's just how it works.
