Any1 else having the same issues? Ps it works perfectly on all other wifi and i have a pretty fast internet so i doubt its internet speed problem

Sounds like your router settings are borked and not allowing full access if it works on different Wi-Fi without issues..

I have made a reset on my router,no change, weird thing is that everything works on my iphone,i simply dont understand this mistery,i know that the GN is perfectly fine, maybe someone else has experienced a similar issue?

Hi to all members of this great fourm.I am new member.i dont know how to post a new post or thread.please someone give me a link for new post.because i have some problem with my galaxy s2.and i need some help.

I have a rooted but otherwise stock Samsung Galaxy Note ICS
baseband n7000xxlpt
kernel 3.0.15-n7000xxlq2-cl605927
[email protected] #3
build IML74K.XXLQ2
Since rooting it, its unable to connect to previously unknown networks (even open ones), but connects happily to the net connections establishd before the rooting.
Has anyone any ideas where I can look for a fix please ?
Thanks
Steve

Or
Long press on the network you want to change, click 'Modify network config'
Then you need to change the 'IP settings' pull down box from DHCP to Static, otherwise the rest will remain greyed out.
Hope it helps

Thanks. I'll try the static IP idea, but its not detecting even open networks, since the root.

No joy. I still can't connect to new networks. There's some activity when it sees a new network, but nothing happens

what rom version?

Rooted but otherwise stock details of the exact settings were in the first post of my comments last week.

[Q] PLEASE HELP Wifi does not connect, says not in range after password.

Like the title says my Wifi will not connect to my router at home, but works everywhere else..
I have a Linksys wireless-n router. I put in the password and it automatically says that it is remembered but not in range. Any ideas on how this could have happened? Any possible solutions?
I don't know about the wifi stuff too much, but I have seen reference to people changing from channel 11 (std factory setting) to channel 4 for example. Dunno if that helps. Good luck.

you start with your router's IP address. if you don't know it, go to your command prompt and type "ipconfig" to figure out your router's IP address. Type the IP address into your internet browser to change the channel.
OK I'll try it later on tonight.
Go to google and type "linksys wireless n router change wireless channel" and select the first option you get (should take you to howtogeek.com)
Scroll down past the download it ask you to do and get to where it states Changing your wireless channel. Its pretty easy to do once you walk through that.
Does it only happen on the touchpad, or is it all devices?
It only happens with android (CM7 and CM9), web os is fine.
There has been issues with the wifi. I am running the bricked CM9 install myself and the wifi works just fine. Have you wiped the cache and all during install?
Seems that someone has posted a thread in the touchpad area concerning this same issue, thread will probably be moved once a mod gets a hold of it, but here is a link to it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1494458
ssid
Make sure you are broadcasting your ssid as android devices cannot see hidden networks, so you end up with "not in range" when you try to connect
I got it to work kinda. I have to leave and go out of range, them come back for it to work.
Does WPA2 broadcast the ssid?
There is an app in the Market labeled something like 'WiFi Fix' that 'helps' this issues as well. If I had my TP in front of me I'd get you the exact name, or if the Market would track free apps between devices like Amazon does, but I digress...
I use the word 'help' loosely above because the 'fix' wipes out all your wireless settings. It deletes all the profiles, etc. So after re-entering the keys you'll get right back on the wifi, but this is somewhat painful after every single time it goes to sleep...
Anyway, consider it an option, semi-viable at least.
If you can see your wireless in the list of available networks it is broadcasting the SSID.
I guess I'll just go for a stroll whenever my touchpad needs a restart. thanks for the help.

I'd be going for lots of walks. Mine lasts for less than 5 minutes -- assuming it connects.
For the TouchPad, it seems the only thing that truly works is a wide open connection without authentication or encryption. People have had varying amounts of success, but I cannot get it to connect to my work's WPA2 Enterprise or anything above WPA at my house...
There's a couple of threads going on in the Development forum where they've basically said that Wifi for the TouchPad sucks and is in a major need of (re)working in order to get it right. The current ar6000 driver isn't cutting it and the ath6kl driver + wpa_supplicant are not Android complaint.
Someone has a kang (CherryKANG) with a supposed wifi driver fix, but if you look at what he supposedly built into his ROM vs. what is getting loaded, you can see it's not really there. (The link everyone points to is the new ath6kl driver, but if you look after flashing it's still running ar6000.)
I build a ROM with the ath6kl driver in place and it looked to work better for about 30 seconds. But you can tell it doesn't like to cooperate with Android too well at the moment. Makes me wish I was a hardware expert so I can rewrite the thing and make it work.
I'm pretty sure it's not a hardware issue since I can boot into WebOS and be find on ANY of the networks I normally connect to...

[Q] cannot connect to wifi anymore

A few days ago I ran into a problem. My wifi wasn't connected when I turned on my tab 8.9. When I try to connect to my own network, and get into the settings page, the option 'ok' is greyed out. This means that I can only 'cancel', and in that way not connect to my own network anymore. The same thing happens when I try to connect to another network. My device is not rooted, running 3.2, and it is running the most recent firmware. Restarting the device didn't solve it. Any thoughts on this one?
Bump, same problem, or at least similar.
Android Version 3.2
Kernal Version 2.6.36.3 ([email protected] #1)
Build Number HTJ85B
Wireless works on some networks and not others. B G N do not matter, it is random. Still running stock ROM, not rooted. I have tried reseting OS, no luck.
What it does it it finds the network, tries to connect to the network, fails, remembers the network, and the cycle starts over.
Hi guys,
do you get the 'Obtaining IP address' message when connecting? mine does that constantly on some networks, it gets stuck in a loop and simply will not connect. I've found out that this is due to the tab remembering an IP address it used to use and trying to re-use it every time it connects. That is of course not always possible and so it tries - fails - tries etc.
The way to fix this apparently is to delete the dhcp_list file which holds the remembered IP addresses, only issue is that I cannot find that file anywhere. I'm running AOSP Galaxian Soup on mine with motley kernel, my home wifi works ok (probably because the same IP address is available all the time), work wifi doesn't want to work at all.
Maybe one of the devs sees this and can shed a bit more light on whether the solution is correct or not.
Regards,
dsc.
I was eventually able to solve this in a very easy way. for one reason or another the tab only wanted to log in when the password contained a capital, so I changed the WPA preshared key to something that contained a capital and a number and it was working again. very strange, because it had been working perfectly for about two months before this problem occurred. hope this helps.
Hi,
I managed to fix it by selecting static IP. I've seen this suggested a couple of times but when using the tablet in horizontal position I could see the static/dynami selection. Turns out you have to rotate the table to vertical position to see it.
Regards,
dsc.
Thanks for the discussion. my main problem is that i can't set a static at my work network. it will work at home, but i NEED it to work at both, otherwise it does me no good. I will keep banging my head against.
I will check back to see if smarter people come up with a solution, and if i come up with somthing i will post.

This is my problem exactly.
Hi,
not sure if you've seen this (I think the original solution comes from here anyway):
[tried posting an url but it was blocked, try googling:
'Tab cannot get IP address for WiFi problem + recs'
and scroll down to zakaria's post]
Some people suggest trying static, even if it fails it might delete the previously stored IP address that the Tab is trying to connect with and get a new one which should work. What I did was connected to the Wifi with my laptop, checked the IP/DNS details and after slight mods used it on the Tab. I did try setting the static to something roughly correct, connecting and reverting back to dynamic, but it wouldn't have it

dsc.

or you could try to download wifi ace (advanced config editor) from the playstore, and set the settings from there

[Q] WIFI bug with CM?

Hi there, after all I finally managed to get the bootloader unlocked and CM running smoothly - wonderful.
To achieve this I had to work carefully up and down through the threads here and it was really worth the work.
The only problem I noticed so far is that I can't establish a wifi connection?! I do see the networks and I try to establish the connection with the credentials as I am used to, but I fail. I also don't see the wifi icon in the statusbar.
Is this a known issue or did I just miss to to do something correctly while flashing?
I tried to find a hint here in the forum, but didn't so far. Sorry if I just overlooked it.
Thanks for any help :good:
Sascha
I got the same problem. I have heard that a new release of the kernel come soon. Lets hope then it is fixed

I also just unlocked the bootloader and flashed CM10.1 but my WiFi is working fine, no problems.
One issue I heard people talking about is that in some cases CM changes the MAC address of your phone, so if you have any mac filtering you need to fix it accordingly. However, if you don't even see the WiFi icon it's a bit strange (remember that the icon doesn't show until you are connected). Can you go into settings and turn it on, find networks, add manually, etc.?
Did you do a factory reset after installing CM?
yes id did a factory reset
So, just arrived at home and the wifi works totally fine
The problem just occured at work before, with a wifi which is not broadcasting.
Strange, cause all other devices connect without any problems - so there seems to be a connex to the new rom.
Btw, I was so frustrated already with this device, I wanted to change it against an Xperia z or htc one today. Now, I'll keep it. Such an impressive leap forward compared to stock fw. Fast and smooth.
Cheers
still not ale to connect to the wifi here at work.
signal is good
network incl. wep pw is saved but it just does not connect. All other devices (SG2, iPad) are connected as always.
Doesn't make much sense to me. So if anyone has an idea, I'm glad to test it.
cheers

That would have been my intention as well, but we don't use any mac address filtering. I can connect with every other device as long as I have the right credentials.
There are not many options to change the settings, probably there's a app available....
Would be interesting if anybody else has this issue with not broadcasting wifi networks.
I cant connect to wifi network too. No mac filter, tried to change from WPA2 to WEP but still not able to connect.
Edit also tried factory reset.

Is that just a guess? I would not see any relation to the kind problem we have.
Factory reset, wipe, flashing of ROM ... I think it's more related to the wifi driver.

[Q] WiFi Tether Won't Work (even with correct settings)?

I'm running OMJ's ROM and using WiFi Tether TrevE Mod "Version 3.2-beta-modv5-***Synergized***"
Okay so even with the settings that everyone recommends for the HTCone, and a few modifications, I still cannot get the blasted thing to work.
Settings I've tried:
Profile: Generic ICS/JB(wlan0)
Setup-Method: Auto
Encryption ON (p/w is the correct format AFAIK, about 12 lowercase letters no numbers, similar to the default)
Changed SSID to "HTCone" no spaces
Wifi Driver Reload (1) checked
MSS Clamping checked
Routing Fix checked
With those settings, I can't even get it to broadcast. It says it's running but no devices can find it. It simply isn't there.
If I disable Wifi Driver Reload (1) it begins broadcasting. However, when I attempt to connect, the second device just sits there at "Obtaining IP Address..." for about 90 seconds then retries and gets stuck at "Authenticating" then back. An endless loop never resulting in a connection.
The most frustrating thing about this is that it was JUST working the day before. I didn't touch ANYTHING and it just decided to take a dump.
Addendum: I was looking at the notes in the bottom of the ABOUT screen and I noticed the updates are quite old. Is it possible I have an old version that doesn't work with the HTC One? I got it from QBKING77's website.
Happened to me and don't have an answer. I wiped and didn't restore anything to resolve it. Restoring data broke it again.

I had no luck wiping the phone and re-installing the ROM. It was still FUBAR after the fresh flash of OMJ. What drives me NUTS about that is the fact that it was JUST working not 12hrs before it stopped working.
To give some more information as to the issue, it appears that checking either one (or both) of the Force Driver options causes it to not broadcast at all. If either of those two are checked, the hotspot isn't even visible to any device. If left unchecked, the hotspot becomes visible. However, upon trying to connect to the hotspot, it gets stuck in a loop of "Authenticating..." then "Obtaining IP address" which never results in a connection.
I've tried the options listed in that guide you posted, but to no avail.
So, at this point, I'm wondering if it's just because I'm using an outdated WiFi hotspot app. If anyone has one that's been updated since a little under a year ago, I'd appreciate a link. Thanks!

In the first post I listed which version I was using. Unfortunately, even the newest version fails to work. I don't get this. Maybe it has something to do with the OMJ ROM and how close to stock it is. Perhaps I should try a different ROM.
This is a far cry from the CM7 ROM I had on my EVO which allowed me to tether perfectly all the time without the hassle. Maybe I'll try CM again on my One.
I'm gonna download & flash OMJ's ROM & see if I can recreate it. You running the latest version right?

Similar issue here
I'm having issues with wifi tether on my HTC One, as well. I can tell you that if you set the Device-Profile to "Auto," it will create an ad-hoc connection that my Windows 7/Ubuntu Studio desktop will recognize. Ubuntu recognizes it as a regular wifi hotspot, and connects automatically. Windows recognizes it as an ad-hoc connection, and I have to connect manually. My Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 does not see the connection at all, and neither does my LG Blu-Ray player. If I change the profile to Generic ICS/JB (wlan 1), then other devices see the connection, and will even attempt to connect to it, but there is never a successful connection with internet access. If I choose Generic ICS/JB (wlan 0), then nothing sees it as a viable connection. I am running the stock sense ROM, and have done no updates (so I'm still at JB 4.1). I can tell you that wifi tether errors frequently for me, and I have to reboot quite a lot. If I leave my phone broadcasting overnight, then in the morning wifi tether thinks that I don't have root, and gives me the "your phone is in an unknown state" error message; at that point, the only way to stop the wifi is to reboot.
So, I can make it work, for a limited number of devices. I would like to use it as a wifi connection for my tablet and my Blu-Ray player, however. I have searched quite a bit to try to figure this out, and I haven't been able to find a reliable answer. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
I got mine to work. Can surf the web, check email, etc. now the damn thing will not stream video. I am connected to 4g and speed test on my ipad verify it but won't stream. Pisses me off.

Wifi issue after MM update

Hi guys! Can you help me out! I installed several MM Roms, as i can not connect to certain wifi networks. I installed many of them to troubleshoot my phone. I have no idea why i can not connect, why it stucks. . It stucks at obtaining IP adress. Before i first install the marsmallow on 5.x.x series i was able to connect to any wifi network (obviously if i had the network key), but now i can not connect to my workplace wifi, also at my friend. At home it is all OK. All networks are 2.4ghz. Other then this i can not see 5ghz networks. i saw a solution for that, but most adb drivers are for x86 even if it says its for x64 systems (or either im too noob, buti can not install them on win10). But the main issue, which pisses me off, is the problem with 2.4Ghz networks. Does any of you have any solution for that. Furthermore, have any of you faced this problem before??? Thanks anyway! Yes, i tried that, thanks. The problem doesnt seem to be the encryption, as its passes through. The issue is with obtaining IP address. Maybe in MM they changed the way that DHCP(IP address obtaining) works. If i can not find a way to change that, i will have to revert back to Lollipop.

Oh! I see... that is a pitty! I'm thinking in advance to Android 6.0, but i hear several issues about it. So, meantime I´ll keep android 5! Hope you finda solution, best regards.
Hi Guys!
Accidently i found the solution for the issue. I share it with you, in case if anyone interested. If you tap 5 or 6 times on the build number, you'll be able to become developer. After this you go to the developer options, then scrolling down, you'll find an option to revert back to Lollipop tipe DHCP. If you tick that, you can connect to any wifi network. (in case if you have the network key) You'll no longer stuck at "obtaining IP address"... Hope that helps
