Usually clearing the Data for the play store works. If it says it cant download and it doesn't give you an error code a quick clear data should do the job

I think I know the issue.
It's because Google had put up a policy to require signed apps.
That's why Gapps wasn't working on one test build for my rom.
Anyways, Try Flashing a google apps package from: goo.im/gapps. (Use Cached Copy if server is down)
Play Store is outdated on that one. But it might update automatically, or just get the .apk for updated play store from Themes & Apps Section.
Cheers,

Still unable to download
Dnt knw wats happening , tried clear data , tried re-installing market app , bt no Use , plz help !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Right now I figured a workaround for you so that your app download don't interrupt.
It is called Aptoide.
It is surely a work around to play store. Aptoide client is an open source Android application that allows one to install software. The installed software comes from multiple sources called "repositories". Each repository has multiple applications and are distributed over different locations. Repositories contain the latest applications allowing you to control and be notified of updates.
Enjoy! Till then I will figure out a fix for Play Store FCs

How I Fixed This
I just had the same issue (using SHOstock ROM 1.9.4, Android 2.3.6, kernal 2.6.35.7) and fixed it by clearing the application cache:
- goto settings
- then applications
- then manage applications
- select Google Play Store
- select Clear cache and Clear data
Hope this works for you.
I have the same problem as well. just started happening today.
The clearing cache/data method does work for me to get back into the Google Play Store, but whenever I try to download anything, it then crashes again. I can browse and view applications. But once I click the accept & download button on any application, it then forces Google Play Store to close. Any help would be greatly appreciated...
Google Play Foce Close on Polaroid tablet
I've attempted the steps from the previous posters and am running running Android 2.3.4 on a Polaroid PMID701C with the 3.4.7 version of Play Store and I can browse files, download them and as soon as the download completes the "Sorry! ...(process com.android.vending) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. Force Close" window appears.
I hope someone who understands this OS better than me can help. By the way, this device didn't come with any Market/Store program loaded so I found the apk on the net and downloaded it, if that matters.
Thanks in advance for your help!
Polaroid PMID701C PLAY STORE
I have this tablet and experienced the same issue. I only have a few minutes right now...but this has to do the read write permissions I believe. There are several forums that outline the install procedure and fix, in this case. Google Play/Market install to tablets and look there. If you have no luck I will check later tonight for some solid links. Good luck-
First post for me in a few years ! Same problem here. HTC Desire, Rooted, S-Off, Redux 1.1.2 ROM. Market updated to Google Play Store, loaded OK, I can search apps etc but as soon as I try to download, or update it crashes with the error message.
Once it has crashed it will not load until I clear cache - it then loads OK but the same happens when I try to download or update an app.
Market was built into the Redux ROM so I've now removed that using File Manager and also removed Market update. Still the same. I've spent the last 2 hours googling for an answer without any success. It appears that most people get a cure by deleting the cache (or maybe they think they have but haven't tried to download!)
I deleted downloadproviderUI.apk and downloadprovider.apk and it didnt work because of that , just add them if you thought they were bloatware and deleted them like I did -_- from the custom rom .zip , delete cache , delete play store , download latest , copy it to /system/app and name it to market.apk and should work fine , works fine for me now , downloads and updates
Google had released the new play store apk. The version is 3.5.16. Have a look on it.

I tried to manually install 3.5.16 over 3.5.15. It fubared my device where it constantly FC'd the app. Couldn't delete it after that so had to restore a back up. Fair warning.

[Solved] Play Store Connection timed out

[Solved]
Hi,
I get "Connection timed out" when trying to access Play Store.
Using the latest gapps (29-4-2012)
Calendar is synced properly but GMail was not installed also can't sign in to Gtalk.
I can access the web play store but I don't get the install on my tab.
Already tried:
- XDA + Google search - didn't find a solution.
- flashing AOKP and CM9 P4 (9-6-2012)
- data/cach/devlik wipe
- Play store clear cache and data
- Installing an older version of "Play Store"
- Installing a version of Android Market (didn't work at all)
Please Help, Thanks !
p.s. the store is working when i go back to the ROM I got from my carrier.
Update:
I managed to connect to GTalk but no luck with the Store
I got a theory:
maybe my provider changed the device name (I had problem with that when I flushed).
Than i connected using that device name.
and now I can't access the Store because the device name doesn't match?
Just a theory - i really don't know much about it...
Can you try this:
Open play store, go to your application '' downloaded '' , click on one of the free application, uninstall then install again.

Hi, after many tries it eventually started working (using the SIM connection).
I trying different networks so I don't think it had something to do with my router, but maybe something with the device wifi (maybe wifi security?).
Anyway - it's now (randomly) solved.
thanks.

Using apps like "Freedom" has a lot of downsides, and yes, this is one of them...
Concider to purchase apps Happy smartphoning!
Dude, it's just a silly problem
Happens when you bypass Google billing service using some apps like Lucky Patcher or Freedom
Its damn easy when you have got an rooted device
1.Just download Adaway and let it build up the host file....
-- Or there is an alternative solution to it...!
2.Delete the host.text file in etc folder which you can access in ES File explorer or the Root browser by Jrummy apps..
Automatically Google Play Store detects the missing host file and it will build up once again

Googled b4 posting, but the problem is Apps are not being installed.
Steps that i perform:
1. Delete Google play apk, then Reboot
2. Copy the 'market.apk' & 'update.apk' to system/app, then Reboot
3. Download an app from Market.
4. But the app doesn't installs
After searching in system, the app(which gets downloaded but doesn't install) was lying there as 'download.apk' in /data/data/com.android.providers.downloads/cache
Also when the apps is downloading is notified in notification bar, but not in market. I.e there's no status of the app being downloading in market app
I tried my best for the problem to be extremely clear.

download market v2.3.6.apk
download zipsigner.apk
with the help of zip signer sign market with platform certificate
then push it to system/app

I didn't need to do all that process of zip signing.(may be it will be required in future if any problem persists )
And for the Play store issue, I freezed/disabled the update.apk
Well it won't update my apps but this resolves the issue of play store.

issues with this HTC Desire since I rooted it. Could use any help!

Hello, my name is Rob and I'm new to XDA but I've used your forums before to help me root my Coolpad and this new phone (kudos)
So I bought this phone a little over a month ago and I've been super severely disappointed in it.
I'll just start off quickly by telling you a little behind my purchase...
I needed to upgrade from the Coolpad 3G that I had been using for months with Sprint's pre-paid and I was planning on getting a Samsung Galaxy.
Well they had to run my credit and I couldn't put down the $200+ deposit they wanted for the S5. So the guy brought up this HTC Desire that was on sale for $99.99 or whatever, without and research or anything I went ahead and bought it because I desperately needed a new phone with 4G capability for my new job... the sales guy sold me on it having 8 GB internal storage (Which was a huge lie... thanks, man), 1 GB of RAM, a solid quadcore processor and a decent camera.
I immediately got home and realized that there was only barely 1 Gigabyte of free storage and I about threw a fit but I knew I needed the phone so I kept it and I took the next step, (Rooting it so I could install and run link2SD)
So I went through the long, tedious process of rooting my phone and putting TWRP, superuser, etc. on it and got my link2SD going.
The day after I finished rooting my phone these errors started popping up and telling me that I had an update I needed to install and download:
(I guess I can't post the pictures I want to post on here until I make 10 posts? so I uploaded screencaps all to this directory)
http :// skakills.com /HTC/
It made it so I can't even use my Gmail or my hangouts app on the phone (Gmail being the most important) this is seriously distressing.
also , this update pops up every few hours and I have tried to install it but it just bounces me back to the recovery TWRP screen and I can't seem to figure it out.
I work a double shift at work every day, I play in 2 bands and I've scoured the internet, forums and lost tons of sleep over this, I just want to be able to use this phone for a few more months without these issues, if anyone has any kind of idea what I can do to fix the errors and get my updates installed or if there is a better option (I'm okay with wiping / resetting since my apps and pictures are all backed up) let me know ASAP, please and thank you very much!

Download an app killer/disabler of your choice (I use Titanium Backup but it's the paid version) after you install it look through all the apps on your phone and find this one "updater" and freeze/disable it and then reboot the updating will stop and the reason you can't install it is because the phone is no longer stock and you unlocked the bootloader.
Regarding the play store problem open internet and search for the latest version of play store and then download the version via internet by searching for the version to download like this Google Play version 5.8.8 APK Download and after downloading the APK install it and reboot into twrp and clear the dalvic cache and cache reboot and the problem should be gone.

I really appreciate the help as far as that update thing goes.
I guess I didn't explain the part with the GMail and the hangout apps.. it is only those apps that are affected, I guess I will try uninstalling the gmail and hangout apps again because I try to launch them but it gives the "Unknown issue with Google Play Services" error and then force closes.
Also every once in a while it is giving me a weird 'Google Music' error .
I will try to freeze that update thing with Titanium backup (I have the full version I got on my old phone I just haven't installed it on here yet)
Once again, thanks a lot I really appreciate the quick response and I hope to check more of the forums out soon.

Okay so I froze the 'Updater' app, rebooted and I think that it has stopped which is good.
I still am getting this Google Play Services Error every few minutes, I downloaded the Google Play .apk , installed it, rebooted into recovery and cleared the dalv and regular cache but I'm still seeing this error come up... I even tried to disable Google Play Services notifications and just accept that it won't ever go away but it is still happening. I'm still not sure of the actual cause of these errors, at least I can use GMail and Hangouts now because I just restored the factory versions.

Yes there is a site but no entire Google apps package is an apk it's in zip format and all you need to do is download it to your sd card and then boot into recovery and tap install then navigate to wherever you saved the download to and tap to select it for installation and after the install go back to the home page and select wipe and then on the next window select dalvic and cache then swipe the bottom to wipe them both and then reboot and you should be good to go.. Here's the package
In this package you will find the core Google system base, off-line speech files, Google Play Store, FaceUnlock, Google Bookmarks Sync, and the following Play Store applications:
Google + | Google Calendar (replaces stock/AOSP Calendar) | Google Now Launcher | Google Play services | Google Search | Google Text-to-Speech | Gmail | Hangouts | Maps | Street View on Google Maps | YouTube

Try this too though tap settings then apps and look for the Play Store and tap into it and then force close it and then scroll down and delete the data and when it says all user accounts will be deleted or whatever just say yes and then go back to your home and reopen the Play Store and try to use it again after it logs your account back in.
Edit: Do you see Google play services in your app list? Uninstall the update if it says to uninstall update on it and then update it again then try to use stuff.

I feel like maybe something got screwed up when I was rooting and using this custom kernel, I wouldn't mind wiping this phone and trying again from the start but going through the backup and restoring process will be a pain. Everything is painful, lol. I just want to be able to use my apps like normal

You should try pattiboi new kernel that he put up yesterday because it's pretty smooth running and my phone is much better than it was before.. Did you uninstall updates to the Play services and try to update it again?
Edit:
Do you have titanium backup? If so I need you to download this version of Google play services and install it but first use titanium backup to fully uninstall the Google play services that's on your phone.. Here's the link for the Google play services version 8.1.15 make sure you don't tap the one that says get it on Google play store because obviously you can't use the Play Store so tap the one next to it, it looks like this "d Download" after you downloaded it install it and reboot your phone...

yes I have Titanium backup. I'll try this new kernel, yeah I tried to uninstall updates for Play services but there wasn't even an option for it.
I'll download this and run that in titanium before installing

You should try fixing your problem before going to the other kernel.
All you need to do is delete Google play services in Titanium Backup and then download the one I gave you and install and then reboot.
