ICS Leak Question - Motorola Droid Bionic

I couldn't find this question, so thought I should ask...
Does anyone have any idea of how to turn USB charge only mode on the ICS leak? I need this because when I charge my phone at work I cannot access the stuff on my SD card since the computer mounts that... anyone find the option to do this?

NOOB here please help

so some of these questions might be stupid ill admit it. how big of a chance is there that i brick my phone trying to root it. and if im planning to get a bigger sd card should i get it before i use my original sd card and root it. also if i ever need to how hard is it to put the phone back to sprints os. and anyone one with good advice im open ears guys.
General thread, just for future reference. As far as bricking your chances are pretty slim, just make sure not to flash a GSM radio.

rooting your phone: pretty much no chance. don't hold me to this though, if you somehow manage to do it. even if you do screw it up, the RUU(the thing that puts you back to sprint's os) can easily be run from a computer and it'll pretty much fix your phone.
most important thing: NEVER flash a gsm radio. those things will really mess up your phone because it'll never turn on after you do that.
about the sdcard... it shouldn't really matter which one you use unless you're using apps2sd.
Hey thanks what about the micro sd card thing

The sd card thing doesnt matter. You can get a new one after you are rooted and running a custom rom
Thanks man what's gsm radio and what type of sd would you recommend for saving apps

With sd cards, there is a 'class' number. The higher number you have, the better it is. I'd go with class 6 or higher. And if you just stay in the CDMA forum, you shouldn't have any problems. Just don't flash any roms or radios that dont mention CDMA
Once again you rock bro thanks I was gonna use the steps that were posted under the rooting cdma hero for Windows does that one look like it would be good for someone like me to follow

You could just Google "fresh pre kitchen" or just "fresh kitchen", those things will basically root your phone for you
Do you have a link for the best place to get fresh kitchen so many pop up when you Google it

ok im rooted go team venture now yet another question anyone have the best 2.1 rom or a good one thats pretty stable.
Fresh2.0http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=643034 or Damage Controlhttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=656690
I prefer fresh rom
Basically it's just trial and error. It's pretty easy to flashthe ROM's so you can keep changing them until you find something you like..
When you flash any ROM you will usually need to wipe your phone and this will cause anything not backed up will be lost. i make sure I save all contacts as a google type. That way when you flash a new ROM and you sign into google again all your contacts will be restored. There are several apps in the market to back up apps you have downloaded.
But before you do that, boot into recovery...hold down home and power to turn on the phone and do a nandroid. Then mount your sdcard and save the files inside the nandroid folder on your sdcard to your computer. This should be your nandroid of the original 1.5 ROM.
on the roms when it says to save to root folder is that the same as the nandroid folder cause when i mount my sd there is no folder that labeled root
ha im retarted didnt read it good enough you answered that already. on my contacts list if the person has google next to there name does that mean is saved to google and where on google can i see them. i wasnt told or shown anything when i got this phone im sure this stuff is basic
heres a question: If I were to root and do a custom ROM, how assured am I that when sprint releases 2.1, I can do that upgrade?

Phone going back to factory...

So my hero is acting weird my usb is messed up in a way that cant transfer files to my sd card. I want it to go back to the official unrooted version. Now if im gonna use the ruu which i understand have to run from my computer my concern is that nothing will work since i cant transfer anything thru usb. Is there anything flashable maybe?

Have you tried using a USB cord from another phone/device? Any mini-USB cord should fit into the Hero port and would probably work.
See this image: http://www.meditronik.com.pl/doc/mini/usb-kabel-mini=foto=canon.jpg
Those fit and most work with the Hero (all that I've tried so far do), at least for charging they work. Not sure about USB file transfer, but try it out.
yeah i did that but didnt work besides i think i have other issues with it... speaker mic thats why i want to return it
Sent from my HERO200 using XDA App
Quick answer is no, you can't flash the stock RUU. At least, that is my understanding....
so how about if i install a custom 1.5 rom... will the over the air update work then to unroot my phone?
First off, is your phone charging at all? If it is then it's not your usb cable, could have a corrupted sd card. Also if it's charging you can ruu back to stock.

USB Broken! Need to down-grade and de-root to return! help!

So the USB port on my Captivate died :\ i dont know if there's a broken pin, or what, but i've tried it on many different computers and cables for my phone none work, Odin doesnt work so i cant flash abck that way, i need to find a way to de-root and flash the stock ROM WITHOUT using USB in any way. I havent been able to find a JH3 ROM .zip file that i can download on my phone, or a de-root tool for on my phone. i'm almost tempted to just go try my luck and hope they gimme a new device (it worked before, but my device was shorted at the time)

Are you using the stock AT&T cable that came with the phone? I know for a fact the secondary cable they sell at the store will not work for Odin. A buddy at work got conned into that cable and had to use my "nokia" cable for it to finally go here at the shop.
If that doesnt work, get JH7 zip file from the forums here- its a flashable zip, stick that on a 1GB (or whatever size) MicroSD and use the secondary SD slot under the battery cover. Then to transfer to the main SD's root and flash from the factory recovery....
However if your USB doesnt work how are you charging? External battery charger? I sorta doubt you have a bad usb since I have seen the same issue with crappy cables... have you tried multilpe cables and USB ports? Multiple PC? How much troubleshooting have you really done?
I don't think they are going to know one rom from another. Just add some home launcher to it. I don't they would check in the settings to see what you are running

If under insurance drop in the pool...
Get the dropbox app, and put all the needed .zips in the account. Download them to the phone and install from the internal SD.
Hope that helps.

I've seen people post on here about getting hit with a 500 charge for voiding on their next bill after receiving a warranty replacement. They check. So go to stock at all costs....or pool.

No need to buy anything, download qtadb and install adbwireless. You'll be able to browse your phone on the pc with ease over wifi.

Semi brick. Need help

Basically I've screwed over my phone.
It WILL boot. However I can't get it to go into USB mode.
I'm on Android 2.3.5 and I have this rom installed. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1779290
When I try to flash from a backup, it fails flashing system and renders my phone a brick until I reinstall the above ROM
I've also tried going into download mode so I can use the official LG updater to flash it back completely stock. However I can't seem to get that working.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

First you are posting in the wrong section.
Second, what baseband do you have installed. I am running on a Froyo baseband and can't run thrillseeker due to the baseband requiring the GB baseband. You can probably return to stock by using this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1491870
From what I am reading, the LG Updater sometimes will fail but you just have to continue using it.
Good luck with your issue. I am planning to do the same to my nephews phone later today. If i can figure something out I will post back.
I think its V20P which is Gingerbread. I know when I last updated it I used the official updating tool and grabbed it from their server. But again I'm on Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread. Will those update.zip files work?

Yea it charges but that's it.
Luckily I have SwiFTP installed on my phone so I can still transfer things back and fourth between my phone and PC over my home network via FTP. Just much, MUCH slower.
EDIT: I just realized why this was in the wrong section. I TOTALLY thought I was posting in the general forum. Sorry. *derp*
Bump
First thing uninstall LG PC drivers then reboot PC and reinstall them. Or try to connect to a different PC to make sure it is not PC related. If that doesn't work then try wiping caches and instsall a different kernel. If that doesn't work I would then try full data wipe and reinstall rom of choice. You might try different rom as once its fixed you can always flash back...hope this helps you.

Well I believe I've figured out what the problem was.
You see the other day while I was charging the phone I accidentally knocked it off. The USB cable got caught on my alarm clock and caught the phone, so the phone was hanging by the USB cable.
Well today I looked at the connector on it and I noticed it was bent a little. So I bent it back up and heard a small *click*
I was afraid I had broke it completely inside. However when I plugged it in my computer recognized my phone and USB mode showed up.

[Q] Install new ROM without USB

Hello all,
I've had a LG990 since februari 2011 and installed some ROM's on it and had my fun. But I wanted to sell it a couple of months ago and I've putted the original ROM back on and unrooted it.
Now the problem is my USB has died, I can't make a USB connection, it still charges thou but the cable always falls out so I think the connector is broken.
The original ROM sucks really hard, I'm having major issues with it and its really frustrating, it has a terrible battery life, camera and is slow as hell. I also can't get any updates so yes I'm stuck with the first version of the original ROM and no USB.
Anybody has any clue how I could get CM7 back on there? If this isn't possible I'm gonna sell it or throw it against a wall, probably the second because nobody would want it anyway.
Thanks!
Just put an external micro SD card into the card reader of your computer (most likely you'll need an adapter), download the ROM on your computer and place it on the micro SD. Then take it out, put it in your phone, boot into CWM and flash it.
Other option: download it directly from your phone and flash it like that.
Edit: I just realized that your phone isn't even rooted. Are you on Froyo or Gingerbread?
Sent from my LG-P990 using xda app-developers app
I'm on Gingerbread 2.3.4
Also I don't have CWM installed neither.
Is it possible a USB connector breaks but still charges? I have no problem getting the files on the device but I can't root or install CMW without USB right?
Try this, might help you and shoukdn't take long as you are already in stock rom

I tried it but it did not work so I guess its a hardware problem.
I once installed CMW by putting an .apk file on my SD card and it rooted itself, it was an app which also made possible to install cmw7 nightlies and others with one tab.
Anybody any idea? I can put files on my card thru ftp or dropbox and open them
I just need to get inside cmw install something new and get over with this nightmare ffs lol

I think you're thinking about GingerBreak and RomManager. I'm not sure though, if GingerBreak would work with 2.3.4. I have the same problem with the USB, but I was on 2.2.2, GingerBreak worked nicely, had no problems with flashing new ROMs afterwards.
You can get RomManager for free in the Google Play store.
Here's the link for GingerBreak, hope it works with the O2X on 2.3.4 (didn't work with an Xperia Arc on 2.3.4)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1044765
Make sure you format your SD card. Just in case, I did format both of them, maybe unnecessarily
Gingerbreak still runs after one hour so I don't think it's working :-/
Any other ways to root my phone without USB?
Guess nobody has an idea. I'm screwed. Anyone want to buy an O2X ?
