I was trying to flash MIUI v4 onto my N1 with the Recovery RA-Passion v2.2.1
I tried serveral version of MIUI.us v4, but only the version of 2.5 or below works, while the newer version like 2.6.x or 2.7.x never worked. If those newer version were flashed, when I reboot the N1, it will simply goes back to the Recovery. Tried to wipe all data and partitioning the SD, same result appear. What's the problem? Tried Google but no luck there so I figured out maybe posting a new thread here to ask will be the best way.
Another problem is, when I use the 2.5.4, the Google Play Store always FC close. I read from the page in the Development Forum that it might be because that I am a Asian user and the self-update of the Play Store to a local version causes the FC, so I tried to use the patched version of Play Store from here, but still, problem exists. Again, I have tried lots common Google-solution like cleaning cache or even reflashing the ROM but it doesn't help.
Any suggestions?
You need to blackrose to partition your system, cache, data. please take a look this this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1270589
Thanks, that worked.
If anyone reading is having the same problem, you can search "tutorial miui blackrose" in google and click on the first link for a very complete guide on miui.us forum so that you can install newer version of MIUI v4. (Sorry I am new member and I can't post a link here)
Anyway, the play store problem hasn't been solved yet, hope if anyone got a clue for me.

Hi everyone. I just recently flashed the new 6.0 froyo cyanogen and its amazing. At first, when I flashed it I had 2 problems.
1. No Market app
2. I didn't get a setup screen for my gmail.
That problem I fixed by downloading and flashing the google apps zip thing.
Now, there's a new problem.
1. Market continues to say "connection failed, retry or cancel" for everthing I try to download. I press on and download.
2. I basically cannot download anything at all.
3. Youtube as well isn't working... I get the same thing as the market.
I did see a google chrome apk in a cyanogenmod website, it said it would help? I don't remember with what though.
Do I need SDK in order to use apps?
- Thanks.
Did you flash the correct google apps? It schould be named gapps-mdpi-FRF91-3-signed.zip.
Did you wipe before flashing?
What version of CM6 did you flash? If it was a nightly, try another one ore RC2.

Yes, thats the name of the Google apps i flashed. The name of the cyanogen rom i flashed is -
update-cm-6.0.0-DS-RC2-signed
I tried flashing everything once more on my rooted G1.
This time i flashed DangerSPL. It was probably the reason it didnt work. I will post back if it works.
I have been unable to install gapps on CM7 dual boot version using CWR 3.0.0.5. It says it installed but when I reboot the market and other apps are not there.
I had no problems with nookie froyo or HC, but CM7 is causing problems. I even tried to install Vending.API manually but it wouldn't execute.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Me too, please some developer help here
Me too, I'm having this same problem. Clearly, the standard way to do this won't work because it's dual-boot. It's incredibly frustrating trying to figure this out; the developer thread on dual-boot images has only obsolete, broken links to the adapted gapps, and thread search is broken, and sorry I'm not going to search 47 pages by hand. The nightly CM7 has no market, nothing but the gallery, and there is nothing on the forum in any noticeable spot that addresses how to get the market and other google apps working on CM7 dual boot. Come on, people, there must be some easy way to find this kind of common stuff out on this forum. Anyone??
Aha, I found it on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=959461&page=43 . Download the dual-boot gapps zip from http://www.multiupload.com/7DG6MNXWS4 and then flash as update.zip using your CWM sd card.
Thank you! Saved my life.
I just updated my device to the last version 2.3.3 gingerbread.
Everything was working good until I tried to make a call.
I have full service signal, but the problem is that I cannot hear anything and from the other side cannot hear me too.
however, is not a hardware problem, because I can make calls using Skype or any other similar app without problems.
my device is in S-Off and I used ClockworkMod Recovery (downloaded from another thread here) to Install the Rom.
first, I downloaded the Rom from a chinese website and then I tried with another one (non chinese)
but...both with the same problem, So I guess is not a ROM problem.
I'm trying to update from a 2.2.1 version also downloaded from a chinese website (I bought my cellphone in China).
I have tried with some RUUs from this forum, but I'm also having the problem 170 & 171 usb conexion.
I tried to explain everything full detailed. Hope someone could help me!
(I was looking for answers in other threads but with no success)
Thanks.
Hi there,
I had the same problem as you only a few weeks ago after installing a custom rom as well going from froyo to gingerbread.
The problem lies with the radio. You will need to upgrade your radio version. In doing so you will get sound from voice calls back.
Here is the thread I followed that will show you how. At the bottom of the first post you will have the list of radio versions as well as with which RUU it should go with.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1129014
Hope it works for you, good luck!
System92
Thanks for your quick response!, I will check right now!.
Tell you later!
---------- Post added at 09:20 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:08 PM ----------
can you tell me which Rom and Radio you used please?. and Did you use some .exe Ruu?.
Thanks!
I am using CyanogenMod Nightly builds, which are based on Android 2.3.5 now. My radio is 20.2810.30.085AU_3805.06.03.16 (last hyperlink from the list) and everything runs well.
No I didn't use a .exe RUU
I need to bother you again!. is this version size just 78Mb?. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1015532)
others Rom I downloaded was all above 200 Mb.
If it's like the ones on the official site, it is probably zipped (explaining the smaller size, +/- 80mb).
http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?type=nightly&device=vivo
Thank you very much System92, I just Installed the same Rom and Radio as you did and It worked perfectly!. (by the way, It's a great Rom with a fantasctic interface!)
Thanks Again!
Your welcome Bastian_n, I'm glad you got everything working!
CM7 is basically what stock Android looks like without Sense UI. Although with some tweaking you'll find that you can still customize it to your liking!
Have fun!
one last question. I cannot find the market in this version? Should I do something more? maybe patch it, or Install it as an upgrade?

Yes with the CM 7 Rom you will have to install the Google Apps separately.
Google apps may not have been included in the rom's installation. All you will have to do is download the Google Apps from HERE. Go to the very bottom of the page and click on "Download" for CyanogenMod 7.
Next, follow these instructions:
Once booted you might find some apps are missing, namely the Android Market, Gmail, etc. If this has happened, you will need to flash the Google Apps pack. To flash, copy the Google Apps to the root of the SD card, boot into the custom recovery image, and flash the Google Apps package like you flash any other ROM (do not wipe data after flashing the Google Apps package). Can't post in the Overcome development thread because I'm too new. Anyway the Overcome website has had a "Database Error" for a couple of days now. I'm trying to flash my Galaxy Tab and I can't follow the directions at this link
p1000.teamovercome.net/?page_id=64
because of the error. There's so many files in that dev thread I don't know what I'm doing.
I was guessing
Restock 001001-GB-Stock-Safe-v5.zip
Flash Kernal 002001-Overcome_Kernel_v4.0.0.tar
No idea what the difference between these two ROMs are
001002-Overcome_7_Series_v4.0.0_Wipe.zip
001003-Overcome_7_Series_v4.0.0_NoWipe.zip
I assume the modems haven't changed since Froyo?
And do I need this?
004003-Overcome_7_Series_v4.0.0_Stock_Theme_Patch.zip
Find the page with google and than click on copy chache
Sorry, i can not link because i'm too new
Google have no pages caches of that page. In fact they don't seem to cache teamovercome.net at all.
Cached Team Overcome
Try this:
http://webcache.googleusercontent.c...come.net/?page_id=64&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=uk
Found cache on Google using Firefox, but the cache is also showing in Chrome.
Hmm strange im used to google displaying a "Cached" link below every search result that has a cached paged. Did they remove that?
Google now can display a preview of the page to the right of the search results. The cache is there...
Restock 001001-GB-Stock-Safe-v5.zip Is the stock version of gingerbread
Flash Kernal 002001-Overcome_Kernel_v4.0.0.tar Flash this if you only want the kernel
001002-Overcome_7_Series_v4.0.0_Wipe.zipInstall overcome -Use this if you are in the stock gingerbread
001003-Overcome_7_Series_v4.0.0_NoWipe.zipupgrade overcome from a previus version
004003-Overcome_7_Series_v4.0.0_Stock_Theme_Patch.zipif you have installed overcome flash this if you want the stock gingerbread theme
If you have problems with phone calls, flash a modem for you device , you can find it in development section.

This thread is for the support of CM9 ICS release by CyanogenMod
This is NOT an official CyanogenMod thread, and isn't officially supported by CyanogenMod or Teamhacksung.
This thread is designed to help keep the dev thread clean and clear for the dev's to do their magic. So please feel free to ask any questions about the ROM, but flaming will not give great results and will be reported
The main CyanogenMod CM9 ROM thread is HERE
The Nightlies can be found here
GAAPS can be found here
Look for 'gaaps-ics-********-signed.zip'
Modems for ICS:
http://soggycashew.weebly.com/cm7miui--ics-modems.html
Modem Coverage Map:
http://soggycashew.weebly.com/modem-location-map.html
ONLY USE THE MODEMS MADE FOR CM7/Miui/ICS.
Give the ROM thread and this one a good read before you post, you may find the answer is already available. Keep in mind that each device may behave slightly different, so YMMV
People have found different ways to successfully install, and it works for them, but their method may not work for everyone. So it is highly suggested to follow the method recommended by the developers.
This is copied directly from the dev OP:
"-First time flashing ICS to your Captivate (or coming from another ROM)?
1. Root your device and install ClockworkMod Recovery.
2. Reboot into Recovery using 3-button-combo
3. Do a Nandroid backup!
4. WIPE (wipe data/factory reset + wipe cache partition)
5. Install the ROM from internal sdcard using ClockworkMod Recovery
6. Optionally install the Google Addon
7. WIPE again or Calendar Sync will not work
-Upgrading from CM7?
1. Do a Nandroid Backup!
2. WIPE (wipe data/factory reset + wipe cache partition)
3. Install the ROM from internal sdcard using ClockworkMod Recovery
4. Optionally install the Google Addon
-Upgrading from another CM9 (or teamhacksung) Build?
1. Do a Nandroid Backup!
2. Install the ROM from internal sdcard using ClockworkMod Recovery
3. Optionally install the Google Addon
Note: The upgrade process from CM7 to ICS is automatic, but downgrading from ICS to CM7 (or restoring Nandroid) requires flashing twice. Once from ICS and again from CM7's recovery."

Reporting Bugs
You are allowed to report bugs ONLY in the Development thread. Before reporting a bug, please make sure you are running as stock as possible. This means no custom kernel, no custom framework modification, etc. If you are using any of the above modifications, please flash the rom again to get rid of the modifications before reporting.
Grab a logcat right after the problem has occurred.
If it is a random reboot, grab /proc/last_kmsg. (Do not bother getting a logcat unless you can get it just before the reboot. A logcat after a reboot is useless)
Remember to provide as much info as possible. The more info you provide, the more likely that the bug will be solved. The following is a useful format to follow.
Thanks to the entire CyanogenMod Team for creating their magic for our aging Captivates!
I just registered so I can't post in the development thread... I hope this is the next best place...
I flashed build 3 of the ICS ROM and the DNS, at least for wifi, seems hardcoded to 8.8.8.8. I changed it to my local DNS ('su', 'setprop net.dns1 192.168.1.1'), checked that I could ping a local name, turned wifi off and on again, and it had gone back to 8.8.8.8. I'm new to Android so I don't know whether there's a way to set it harder, but I had expected that it would get the DNS servers from DHCP... that is definitely what stock Gingerbread and CM7 both did.
Hopefully some kind person will pass this message on to the developers... I am not sure whether this is the wifi DNS update issue listed in the Known Issues on the dev thread but if so maybe that should be marked confirmed
What should i do before flashing this rom? I'm currently with gal net miui. I assume that's cm7? So should i just flash after wipe? Or go back to stock first?
Sent from my I897 using XDA App
it states to wipe data and cache, then install from miui or CM7, no need to return to stock. Some run it better than others, mines running just fine with their release 3

Uninstall the app and reinstall from the market.
Glitch kernel let me OC to 1.4!
Thanks flashman that worked.
Dunno if anyone else has this issue but both mornings since flashing, I've woken up to an unresponsive touchscreen. clicking the hard button brings up the lock screen and everything looks right but it's just unresponsive to touch. I've had to fiddle with the hard buttons to be able to use the touchscreen again.
When finding things wrong with this build, you do have to realize that it's not even a beta yet, and things are gonna be slow/broken/or not integrated yet. I'm sure the devs will add all this stuff once the basic framework is solid. And like someone else stated, the best way is to go from CM7. It's very easy. I can even flash back and forth no hassle

after updating (after clearing the phone again) to build 5, i get more errors than with build 3. Gonna go back and try it again.
Two issues in build 5, calendar issues, no sync. Tried custom apk's, no luck with that. Reflashed gappsv5 still no good. Was working on build3 with gapps v4.1. Also anyone able to get their facebook account to sync. Try adding facebook account and just nothing...

I am also was having market issues. What helped me was making them download to phone from the market website. It helped a bit. And yes, the Facebook sync seems broken

any specific kernel? where do I pick up just the kernal? just moved from cm7 nightly b181

FB sync doesn't work on ICS at all so I wouldn't expect a quick fix. I downloaded the friendcaster app and used that to sync with my contacts.

You don't need to flash a kernel for this. At least it's a very bad idea in this stage of development. But if you need it for some other purpose, it's in the OP of the ICS thread
