Apologies if this has been covered before but i couldnt see anything on it.
Just came from xperia s to the note however my wireless bars and signal bars never turn blue indicating a connection to google servers.
From what i can see everything works ok, my contacts sync ok, i get my gmails ok etc etc.
I have also got a new sim in case tjere was something wrng with it....seems not
Anyone come across this before, should i return the handset as faulty?
Thanks in advance for any help

Don't worry as long as you can rec. Calls and make calls without any problem, and it is normal, I always have full bars with gray colour but I can make calls,if u want more signal bars just try some modems till you find the best for your location/carrier

You didn't understand his question.
On stock clean ICS, bars turn bleu when you are connected to google services.
On the note they don't..So nothing wrong with your handset

Then it must be wrong on mine to.....because it has never been blue...
Ah great so nothing to worry about then? Cool.
I was just a little concerned, seemed strange to have horrible grey bars all the time.
I guess i am just used to seeing blue having come from the xperia and google nexus before that.
Thanks

Sure it isn't the phone and where your at? Possible bad tower etc...?
Were you going around town and it was still doing it? Also you pulled the battery and rebooted?
Curious, anyone know why sometimes the data and signal bars are blue and sometimes they are white? Thought maybe it was signal strength or active/dormant difference.

i noticed that too. i would think that whatever is blue is what you are using. if you are on a wifi it will have the wifi icon blue and the 3g or 4glte white. i am not 100% sure but i think thats how it works.
Blue (green in aosp) means a connection to google services.

That explains it. Thanks. So why would one one to know this information while using their phone? So much that there would be a status indicator for it.

well i would think that it has something to do with the new data plans having caps. im sure that they want to make people as aware as possible as of when they are using data from the verizon network or a wifi.

This is a feature that's built into android from gingerbread on. It serves several purposes, but the immediate purpose is a tell-tale sign that something may be up with your connection.

Well, since so many features on Android phones depend on synchronization with Google's servers (Gmail, calendar, etc) it's usually good to know if you're connected. It also lets you know when something might be wrong with your data connection even though you are apparently connected to a network.
I've noticed that yes the one switches between wifi/3g/4g much more smoothly, but also noticing it dropping those signals much more frequently too and struggling to reconnect if it drops it. As in, I can have a data connection, then none at all out of nowhere without moving, and a couple of minutes later it reconnects.
I was even just sitting here at home where I have full signal on wifi and saw it drop wifi too. This never happened on the previous base... Sigh... Nothing is ever perfect...

I've noticed that my phone is holding onto lte better inside today since the update. It was usually dropping to 3g once I started doing anything.
but it's ok to eat fish cause they don't have feelings.....
I'm dropping calls like crazy lately, but it really started before the update, so I can't say it's because of that.... Sprint really sucks lately, dropping calls left and right, signal dropping out all the time, and slower than slow 3g

Mine got better with the update. I can hold a call for over an hour in my house with 1 bar just like my old phone. before the update it would drop after 5-15 min. Also I am running into far less places where I simply can't use data despite having signal. I think there is still room for improvement.
When I first flashed the update everything seemed to working smoother and seemed to hold a better 4G signal. By the second day my WiFi would drop in and out, my 4G won't hold when I know have full 4G coverage. Sometimes I don't have a signal at all. Like that is my only pet peeve about this phone. What's the use of having the best phone if one of its primary functions doesn't work properly? I'm definitely looking to get something new at this point.
Where can I find the radios/firmware update? I've looked through all the threads and they are no where

I'm having the same issues, and I'm pretty done with it. Ordered a GSM One from Google Play and am on my way to TMobile. After 14 years I can't take the whole "unlimited data 1 bit at a time" anymore.

right behind you.....next year
I was having similar issues, I think it had to do with the fact that it was an in-place upgrade. I did a factory wipe, and the One is behaving much better.

Interesting that you seem to think that it is the phone straight away, probably not, very likely to be other wifi networks in your area affecting your signal on the router. I no that the signal is not the greatest but these sort of things are likely to affect it more.

Ever since the first note 7 v1 I been either losing data or signal out of nowhere. Does anyone have this problem? With my S7 I never experience this.
Me!!!! If I go to the bathroom at work where there is no signal and come back out where I have full bars it will not connect back to the network until I reboot or turn airplane mode on. No matter how long I wait.
I think the signal on the note 7 is bad compare to previous devices

Its horrible. When I lose signal I try doing the airplane mode on and off and still doesn't work. I have to reboot to make it work again.
Yep I have the same problem

My v1 was doing this fairly often. My v2 hasn't done it once.
they have to update the software its not rescanning properly to look for a signal.I havent gone to work to try on v2 but v1 was annoying

Yes. It has a hard time reaquiring the network. Especially LTE.

I've been having this issue since I had my note 7 replaced. I never had this issue with my old note 7. I take the train to work everyday and spend most of my commute in the tunnel. It doesn't get a signal until I reboot it. Has anyone found a fix for this? If so please let me know. I'm getting a full charge on my phone to see if I reflash the stock firmware to see if that works for me. I'll keep you guys updated.

It seems like all the note 7s are doing this. I though it was only me. Hopefully its just software problem that can be fix. Hate rebooting all the time i lose signal.
I lost some last night but a reset and quick twitter Dm to tmo fixed it haven't had anything else worng

This problem plagued my 1st Note7, sometimes multiple times a day. After getting my replacement N7 it was the very 1st thing I looked out for and it hasn't happened once.. Making me think(and I really hope not) that it's hardware related
Original N7 was on the most recent update and my N7 V2.0 is also on the recent update.
hope my v2 doesn't do that like v1
Sent from my SM-N930T using Tapatalk
Same here
Both V1 and V2 have done it for me. no data/cell signal out of the blue...
Glad to hear others are having the issue and it's not just me...
Hope for an update soon
So with s7 at my job I was still be able to send/receive messages....with my old note 7 v1 I cldnt send any messages out. I haven't received my note u v2 yet so will post soon

Add me to the list...
I have this exact problem with both my V1 and V2 Note 7. I take the train to work and when I go into a tunnel for like 10-15 minutes I'll lose my data connection and when I come out of the tunnel, the Note 7 won't connect back to data. Sometimes it'll show an "X" by the signal status icon...and sometimes it'll show "full bars" but I still won't have a data connection. The same thing happens sometimes when I'm in the elevator at work...I lose connection in the elevator and then the Note 7 won't connect back unless I reboot the phone. This is extremely frustrating since it happens multiple times per week! I may just need to exchange this for a different phone if this problem can't be fixed.
think it needs a radio upsate I hope they are aware of this

Hasn't happened on my V1 or V2.
