What program uses our front cam for video call? froyo and GB

im aware that we can use the front cam for tango. any other programs that can use frontcam for video call? yahoo messenger cannot. anyone?

Fring and Qik can use the Incredible S FFC.

i need to call a pc/desktop/laptop. seems like fring and qik are for mobile to mobile calls only?not sure

I tried yahoo messenger which has a video add on call, but it didn't allow me to switch to the front facing cam.

I think the only applications that do video chat with a desktop is Skype, Gtalk, and Yahoo but I don't think any of them work on the Incredible S. Skype will work if you have a Verizon phone. Gtalk will work if you have gingerbread on your phone and you use the work around floating around on xda.

Hi guys.. htc incredible s can use its ffc only in tango, fring nd qik if u hav froyo in ur fon.. as soon as one updates to GB we can use our ffc from the majority of the apps available in the market.. for instance yahoo starts using our ffc from gb.. u can make video calls to pc in tat. Another app is vtok which uses back cam in froyo but whn updated to gb it would start using the ffc.. vtok is an app for gmail video calling.. am using vtok in my fon nd it works great.. the only catch for now is tat it uses the bak cam in froyo..

For gtalk you can use Vtok .....fresh one

Yes.. but uses bak cam if u r in froyo.. usese ffc in gb

yahoo messenger on GB doesnt use ffc on default. ill try yo search the work around then update. also will try vtok.

If u r asking the link of xda hack for gingerbread then inorder to use it ur fon must b rooted.. u may install vtok from market for free..

Are you using it? And is it version 1.0.0.983 like on the market? ppl say that video calls are not working.

Does the Galaxy come with a version of Swype preinstalled??
If not then it would be considered as warez and therefore should not be posted here.

In some countries people cannot find Skype on the Market. I'm not 100% sure but there are probably limitations... Anyway, it is easy to workaround them using MarketEnabler.

Skype doesnt support video on the Galaxy tab because they claim Froyo doesnt give access to the front camera. This is BS though, because there are many other apps that do.
Try Clearsea. Works great and there is a PC client too.

I totally agree with you. A hacked version of skype works well with FFC though rotation still needs to be worked on: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1153285

Skype 2.0 for Froyo

Does anyone know how to modify the OS to report that the phones one of the very poor selection the lazy people at skype could be bothered to make it work with?
Or would it require a mod to the app itself (same question who knows how to do this?)

Yep. Can confirm. Crashes a couple of seconds after you hit Sign in.

The problem is that the contained native code .so's seem to contain NEON instructions which the Tegra 2 can't execute.

Are you able to make video calls?

Nope, I couldnt find any option for video call, but the audio call is working fine.

someone PLEASE fix this. i will donate or whatever. but i really want this to work. gd it. whats the point of releasing a new version that SAYS video calls in the new version and there is no video call option in it. whoever released it was missing the idea behind this update :/

Coz' all of my friends do not have fring or tango accounts.

Guys,video calls are only for few phones now...Nexus S,SE Expiria Pro and Mini Pro... we have to wait for new skype update with video call option for our phone.

If everyone took that attitude, XDA forums and the like wouldn't exist because we'd all be sat waiting for HTC / LG / Skype etc to update software...
These forums exist because the developer community can usually make things work better than the software vendors or before the software vendors.
This has already been hacked to work on the Galaxy S and S2.......
