Ok, so I was sitting in my bosses car while we are going to lunch and I go to check my phone, its frozen at the lock screen, so I first tried a battery pull, it rebooted got to the lock screen, and froze before I could even unlock it. I've tried pulling the battery and I've tried recovering it, nothing is working. I haven't played with anything recently so I'm not sure what's going on.
I'm running the Legend 5 ICS with the KK4 Corn kernal and Holo Launcher Plus.
I've never had a problem like this happen before but I'm worried it has something to do with the Antutu Battery Saver as I had trouble with it the last time I used it and ended up having to restore the phone to factory settings to get it to work again. The restore I used was one before I installed the app.
Any ideas? If there is anymore information I can provide tell me and I will get it for you.
Thank you. <3
(I did search but I didn't come across any solutions I haven't done already, I am at work so I might not respond quickly.)
Sounds like u have answered ur question....the app seems to be the problem. It usually is a rogue app that causes these problems. Also see the last few posts by crt60 and myself in the Legend thread about tweaks in the kernel that may cause issues as well... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=29791778 and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=29795824

I guess I have, with the link you provided me it looks like that it the cause. It makes sense since from what I can tell the app plays with underclocking your phone and tweaking things. It sucks though it was making my battery life godly. XD
Thank you for verifying this. <3

download OS monitor or system panel and see which apps are consuming or hogging cpu
I did that and nothing looks out of the ordinary. I'm so frustrated!!! Could it be the rom or is it an app?

No help here...........I got tired of the battery drain from all the custom ROM's I tried (just about all of them) and am now back to JH7, getting almost 32 hours before being drained. I have done some tweaking to it, got the GPS working great and everything works whereas with some of the ROM's something had to be sacrificed.
Here are some screenshots:

In the last screenshot it shows 30 seconds to lock, all day today I was around 10 seconds to lock and 10 satellites.

Did you flash with 100% battery and then calibrate your battery afterward?
No it wasn't at 100%... And no I didn't calibrate the battery... Was I supposed to??

It's certainly worth a shot. I had the same thing happen to me once a while ago and it seriously extended my battery. There's some threads here that describe the process which essentially involves discharging and charging your phone off and on and deleting the battery stats through CWM.
I always flash a ROM with a battery showing 100% and I typically net pretty good battery life doing it this way.

Always recommended to do so whenever you flash...........YMMV

You can calibrate at any time. No need to reflash.
Maybe before you reflash, please wipe of the factory settings and partition and also the Dalvik cache and battery stats in "Advanced" settings using your Clockwork.
Ok I'm trying one of those recalibrating methods. Maybe I really should've read everything before I flashed... but there was sooooooo many stuff to read and watch...
When you say "advanced" in clockwork, thats the rom manager correct? when i look through it it says advanced mode for premium users only... is that the right app?

I'm sorry but now that I search through the forum I see that its a common problem and it's something I missed. I'm totally new to android (smartphones period) phones and flashing and stuff. Thanks for all the helpful tips!
One question though. When you delete the batterystats.bin file, does it get recreated at a later point or never again?

Have to remember as well that each user may see different results with the same Rom. Kernels. Modems, Roms perform differently from one device to another based on a multitude of factors. After you have done the basic steps to try to stabilize battery drain, I would then begin by experimenting with different kernels and modems.
Idle drain is the test I normally use after ensuring proper battery readings, sensor usage and app CPU behavior. Many times simply flashing to another kernel shows immediate results.

I've yet to learn about flashing kernels. I'm now running perception 10.2
Sent from my SGH-I897 using XDA App
Download the sgs kernel flasher app from market. Go to kernel thread off your choice in captivate development an download kernel, placing the file on your internal sd card. Run the app which is poetry self explanatory.
Definitely try a different kernal or modem. Generally, you can find feedback in the rom thread about what kernal or modem gives the best battery life.
I haven't used Assonance but I had to flash the firebird 2 kernal to get good battery life with Perception 10.2. Keep trying.

Well I'm on cm7 and 1.1.5 (I've not noticed any difference between 1.1.4 and 1.1.5), and I get two days on a charge. I don't have facebook/e-mail or many other app syncing and I don't turn it off at night or anything like that.
I've seen people saying they get longer on a single charge but then you usually find out they're switching it off or putting it on airplane mode over night or something.

Just wipe everything in recovery. When I installed CM7 after a few minutes it automatically started downloading my apps I'd had previously installed. There were a large chunk it didn't work on but they showed up in My apps in the market so I could just click on to download again.

no. the key here will be the right amount of under volting. dont go berserk. just reduce it to a small amount and check. minus 25-50 seems fine.
Use incredicontrol to undervolt to -75 and change wifi sleep policy in advanced setting to never. Did this with cm7 and got great battery life. Now using miuiandroid im at 70% after 19 hours of medium usage. It's amazing. No lag what so ever. Don't use tiamat 1.1.5 though, use 1.1.4, way more optimized.

yes tiamat 1.1.4 performs better than 1.1.5.
however you can try lord clockan's cm7 kernel. some users have found it even better than tiamat.

Hello,
Since I've bought my Incredible S about 8 months ago, I've been experiencing this problem. Somethimes, when I'm writing a message, there is 1 letter that doesn't work, if I press on it, it chooses the letter besides it. If I exit the app and reopen it, everything is fine. So its only the keyboard that's acting weird.
I had this on the standard 2.3.3 and 2.3.5 and now on 4.0.3 with the Virtuous Quatrro ROM.
Now I'm using the default ICS keyboard, on Gingerbread I used Better Keyboard.
Does anyone know a sollution?
Just to notice, my phone was send to HTC for repair somewhere around Octobre last year, and they replaced the whole front, including the screen. 2 weeks before that, they replaced the motherboard. So I still had the problem after the repair. And I think it's not software related, bevause it's just when I'm typing something, and not when I'm scrolling trough menu's or something like that.
Had the same problem. And I have a solution: don't notice it
I know its irritating sometimes, but that's not a real problem, so take it easy

I have had that problem with my mum's Wildfire S as well.
But then i realized that the phone had not been rebooted in a while.
Restarting the phone did the trick so i assumed that there were too many programs running in the background.
However, now after i guess a couple of months, the problem still persists albeit at a very minor stage.
Either lock the screen then unlock it. Or reboot the phone.
Both methods work for me when I get this issue. I use the lockscreen when I need my phone but if I've got a 5mins spare ill reboot.

The funny part is when this issue occurs, sliding the lock screen also seems impossible
Then lockscreen and unlock it again and all is fixed? ..... when I have issues with lock screen I just lock and re-unlock then it fixes it.
Does that work for you?

All I can say it maybe try a different rom or kernel. Other than that I'm unsure maybe something internally it knackered as a worst case scenario.

I had this problem aswell. It started out in the same way as yours just being a tad un responsive, but slowly got worse. What it turned out to be was that digitizer was faulty as I replaced the digitizer myself and the problem was solved. As you say that the screen etc has been replaced before this could well be the case. I would recommend getting in done professionally as it isn't an easy job. Look on the market for a touch screen test app and see if you have any dead spots.

i've had the unresponsive lockscreen issue when using cm7 and cm7 based roms, then today i checked set cpu and i had a profile for screen off - a low clock speed with conservative governor. Changed to interactive and slightly high clock speeds and dont seem to be facing the issue any more....at least its been okay for the past 6 hours...hope this helps
I find if you lock the phone and wipe the screen until it's nice and clean it fixes this problem. It could be caused by a buildup of finger oils on the screen, or from your face after making a call. Not to sure though.

Guys, my sister has had her I9000 for a good few months now and everything was fine until recently.
She phoned me (knowing I like my phones) saying her battery life had become really poor over a couple days.
So I took the phone off her and updated it with Kies, so now it's running the latest Kies Gingerbread for that phone. I should point out it is not rooted, completely stock.
I noticed some crummy looking app's like Android Anti-Virus and Task Killer so removed them hoping one of them was acting the goat.......everything seemed to be going good until yesterday and she charged the phone all night until 8am and when it came to around 2pm the phone was flashing up with low battery alert. She said she had used twitter a little and browsed on the internet a while.
I have told her to get CPU Spy and look if the phone is going into deep sleep, yesterday it had 0% deep sleep and today it is saying 70% deep sleep even though the battery only lasted 6 hours before low battery warning...
Any ideas what I can do to track down where the problem is? Would she see better battery with ICS or a custom GB ROM?
Mine did this on stock ROM luckily mine lagged when I went into battery use it was Samsung app push update service or something like that but thanks to the lag it showed sleep lock before it shower that service I uninstalled then it could go back into deep sleep

it will root your device and install clockwork mod, should fix the battery issues though. Try flashing the CF root kernel via odin. Theres a tutorial in the thread.
After the odin flash, you can use titanium app for remove apps or system apps unnecessary
I use my phone and its features mostly for my work stuff. So it is always a trouble making backups and yet lost some good piece of it. This is the reason i dont frequently change my phones rom. Yes i try them but just forba while or maybe a week or two. But then return back to the stock. I was on my stock ICS which was rooted via the exynos abuse with no cwm or any other bootloader. 2 days back i got an update of about 501 mb and it updated me to JB without formattibg my phone.
I was happy thinking that i received it very late hoping it will be fixed and tweaked from known issues. But unfortunately it isnt and full with crapoy bloatwares which i uninstalled using hiuninstall utility. The lag is gone but the huge battery drain is kind of annoying. I cant just keep my phone plugged in all the time.
I want to know a way by which i csn go back to ics without formatting my phone.

You will not be able to do that. If you managed to get it to boot with no wipes there would be so many FC's it wouldn't be usable the best you could do is maybe flash philz kernel for you ROM and try to flash a custom jb tw ROM there are some good ones and the if you still have bad battery drain use better battery and see what is using up your battery the most and also use CPU spy to see if your phone is going g in to deep sleep. Location services on tw uses a lot of battery you could try turning it off and see if that help.
