Since my Note is getting slower and laggy, I really want to reset factory settings. I tried to backup through Kies but it keep saying "preparing" for over an hr, what is this about? Is there any other way to back up? Please advice, thanks!
I mainly want my game data. I don't want any root method, thanks.

The battery for 4.0.3 is a battery killer. You need to download the firmware 4.0.4 to resolve it.

It is rooted yes, I so would void your warranty in practice.
The other option is to downgrade to any stock gb, perform full wipes on that and then upgrade to ics again.

Ok got it, so this is the one. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997
There are many version of Stock Rom, if my Note bought in Hong Kong, I get the one says in Hong Kong? So like one of the below? There is no 2.3.6? Please help me to pick one, I am so noob worry
i.e. N7000ZSLPF---4.0.3/12.05---N7000OZSLPF---Download---Hong Kong
N7000ZSKJ6 ------ 2.3.5 2011 october-------- N7000OZSKJ6............-------------Hong Kong -----------------------Download
N7000ZSKJ6 ------ 2.3.5 2011 october-------- N7000OZSKJ6 ---------------------Hong Kong -----------------------Download
N7000ZSKK1 ------ 2.3.5 2011 November------- N7000OZSKK1 ---------------------Hong Kong ----------------------Download
N7000ZSLA2 --------------------2012 January--------N7000OZSLA2-----------------Hong Kong-------------------------Download (wipe)
Once I downloaded, I just put the full zip into sd card and install from sd card by going "vol up + power + center button" correct?
Yep, you're going to be upgrading to ics straight after right? So if you download any of those versions, then safest to install with pc odin (you'll find instructions of how to use in same thread).
Flash gb, wipe data, then sign into samsung account and google account and wait for update notification which should be fairly instant, update ota.

OK, This is what I did so far. Please tell me if my Note is rooted or warranty bye bye, because I am planning to get my phone to Samsung for final checking in 3 months before warranty ended.
This is my steps:
1) Downloaded 2.3.6 firmware N7000ZSLA2 --------------------2012 January--------N7000OZSLA2-----------------Hong Kong
2) use Odin to install it
3) When I am on 2.3.6, I installed or changed nothing, then plug my Note into PC with Kies On
4) Kies asked me to upgrade to 4.0.4 and so I did it right away.
5) My Note is on 4.0.4 firmware now.
so, is it all back to normal or is it something that it's warranty voided?

If it is kies update it is official, your still under warranty. Btw did you check your download mode if it had binary count or yellow triangle, because it will void your warranty also even though your on official firmware.

Hi,I hav just updraded my sgn from 4.0.3 to 4.0.4 and m in India.First, I thought there would be a solution in 4.0.4 for battery drainage....but of no use.
Now I want to downgrade my sgn to 2.3.6(N7000DDLLC1) which is provided by sammobile.com and i hope that is official gb for indian sgn.
1. Please tell me hot to downgrade safely to 2.3.6 using clean installation.Actually, I have eMMc bug in sgn,so I can't wipe or format it.(MOST IMPORTANT)
So guys, please help me in doing this soon.thanks in advance......
Get the firmware from the original dev forum. Reboot phone in dowload mode. Open odin connect the phone and select the tree files from the firmware then pres GO. Its better to pick an allready rooted version of GB. Then you are all set.

Get official from Sammobile and use odin.
As I see you don't know what root its.. You don't need so... Stick to the standart procedure and I'm afraid you gotta wipe/factory reset once you have finished flashing gb if you downloaded a Kies version
Why? Because all your apps will FC if you don't....

as long as you follow all the instructions (on the downgrade to GB), your phone will be fine.
@coolcris
There is no need to go to abyss, as you are downgrading to GB, so first downgrade then wipe is enough
@OP
Downgrade/Flashing won't harm your device
Find 1st link on my signature. and select GB ROM to download and simply flash it with PC Odin, everything is mentioned there. Read it completely and still you have any doubt post your quuery.

No need to re root, if you are rooted already
Just flash custom kernel like

Then from recovery, wipe cache n delvic cache (no data)

You can flash directly on ICS, flash tar version with PC odin, then you need to reflash counter with Triangle away.
Gingerbread method is different, in which you won't get raise counter. for that you need to flash pre rooted ginger bread and then have to update to ICS + Notcore same time with Mobile odin pro.

I would also add when using triangle away to check first by going to Download mode how many flashes you have done and make sure it matches the one being shown by triangle away. I read somewhere that if it does not match it may cause a brick in the device can anyone confirm that?

YES. You first have to confirm that the application shows the exact counter that you are getting in Download mode or it may brick your device or c\you may have a corrupted boot loader.
I dont get you sahil, you mean in currupt bootloader it cause error?
Triangle application works only if device is live, so in case of corrupt bootloader how device will boot ?
Or you mean it can cause bootloader corrupt?

If you never updates to jelly bean 4.1.2 you must to update binary.
Then install a custom kernel for 4.1.2 , Forest Kernel for example. for 4.1.2 roms , or if you want 4.4.2 kitkat a KK kernel.

The first thing to do is to root, and then install CWM on your Device, then followed by flashing a compatible SAFE KERNEL to avoid te emmc brick. I rooted and flashed custom rom over my previous ICS with this guide http://rootgalaxynote.com/galaxy-no...on-galaxy-note-gt-n7000-no-computer-required/ way back then when I wasn't aware of XDA. Of course there are many more methods available per your liking. Just search around for your own preferred taste. If you know how to use phils, then it's the best and safest option to do.

Yes of course I performed wipe when installing ANY roms.. What I was referring to is DO NOT perform the wipes on your stock ics kernel and recovery. Instead, Flash a SAFE KERNEL preferably Phils, reboot again to recovery, and THEN you perform the wipes before flashing any custom rom like xperia zized.
To Flash a KK custom Rom, first u must flash a KK compatible kernel and recovery. The usual is Raw 4 Kernel (search on forum). Reboot recovery again, Do all wipes then flash your destined KK roms.

Yes speedmod is also a safe kernel. The only lack is the recovery which is not user friendly n no super wiper like on philz. The super wiper I mentioned refers to "Yes, I want to install a new Rom" option in Wipe factory reset that does full wipe at one touch.

Yes. Choose according to your BUILD number. Not Baseband or kernel. Of course find ics compatible. Not the JB ones. I did not use philz until I installed JB custom roms so you will have to research first if philz's is suitable for all android or is there a specific built for each android vers.
