but.. using the terminal inside the rom.. it's possible install the apk ?

Most ROMS come preinstalled with terminal emulator so do this.
1. Open terminal and type "su" (All of this without quotes of course)
2. type "pm install /path/to/blahblahblah.apk
3. Sucess

Or if you have some app which has built in file viewer use it to install.. Like I have moon reader or ttorrent or camera or some browsers have file viewers inbuilt use them.. I have done that when I was in your situation

Makesure that 'Unknown Sources' is set to 'Allow' non-Market Apps...
Using the builtin brower, in the address bar:
file:///sdcard/Name_of_APK.apk sdcard=full path to your desired APK mind the case and the "/"s
I have the APKs on the microSD that I use for flashing, and I've shortened the names so it easier to type.
First one being a file manager of some sort.

[Q] Write and Go (Samsung default app) for download

Hi, I´m using Darky´s Gingerbread ROM and there isn´t any "Write and Go" application.
I want this application back because it´s really easy to post something to the facebook wall. Could you please someone copy this application from the system and put it here for download for me?
EDIT: Please I need it :/ the installer apk from /system/app would be just fine

Here you go: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/6524760/WriteandGo.apk
I have got it from XWJS5 in Romkitchen.
Thanks, but it seems it isn´t working for me. I get "Application not installed." error message :/
I think you have to copy it directly in /system/app/ with rootexplorer (after mounting system R/W)

I tried it, it doesn´t copy anything.
Try to download it from Romkitchen as an update.zip then flash it with CWM!
quick question Gerusz,
when i goto romkitchen, click on galaxy s, then on generate, then on the apps tab, then select only flash and go, it tells me that if i dont select a launcher my phone wil be unusable. How to i create an update.zip that ISN"T trying to replace my entire ROM?
thanks in advance!
Hey I have the same problem, using darky rom and i couldnt find this app anymore. Any solution yet? been searching for quite some time
I know this is an old thread, but just thought that you guys on darky ROM should know that all of these apps are available and installed on your phone on your SD card. They will be in a folder for darkyROM and they will be saved in system/apps within that folder. You use and always should use the darkyROM tool available from the market and it will add or remove any system app you want and it backs them up (so if you remove something you shouldn't you can re-install again) and also it does the same for user apps too. It has now been suceeded by the darkyOTA application though which provides Over The Air updates for ROM related stuff. All support and info is located on the darkyROM forums to check out

I use a free app called File Expert. Put the .apk on your SD card, simply open File Expert, browse to the location of the APK, and click it to install. No need to push it to any specific directory.

[Q] How do I set a default home with a rom ?

I installed Gingercruzt rom and Arc Launcher Transparency theme. But when I press the Home button, there is a pop-up with the last applications. When I turn off the phone, home theme of gingercruzt comes back. I tried with " Home switcher " but nothing happens.

when you pressing home key make sure you not hold it
when you hold afew moment it become recently app

pop up screen will come out (it will ask launch by what?)
sellect arc launcher if you want it and make sure u click on the make it default

you have to play with unlock boot loader (be carefull)
flashing kernel (easy)
partitioning sdcard (ext2/ext3/ext4) (lot steps)
or
Download all the app U like with browser instead market
(because when download using market we don't have the installer for the app)
download the app.apk and save it in one folder and just name it apk folder..
so everytime u change your rom, u can simply instal it again and again, and again..
I just use this trick!!
Ok I will do it. Do you know some websites with apk ?
And the sound at the starting of the phone do you know how to take it off ?

but almost paid app.apk are not allowed!
I just buy a paid app.apk dvd with my friend
About the boot sound U have to search it your self..
I'm not sure about your rom rite now (R8)??
but u can try this
install root explorer (phone need rooted)
(this app same like file manager but it can see phone and system files)
you can simply search the boot animation folder
on phone directory instead sdcard
search one by one folder
when u get the boot sound or boot animation u can simply delete
(If can't delete) click on "mount RW" on the top right
sory long explaination..
and HIT Thanks twise!!

[Q] bundling system apps into pre-existing custom roms?

I'm wanting to install the current version of the AOKP rom onto my note, but i noticed (after I flashed - boh) that there's an FC problem with the included launchers on that rom.
In the instructions they suggest using ADB to push novalauncher's apk file out to your device, but that seems needlessly complex to me when I could just (in theory) bundle the app into the .zip before I flash.
Is there any reason I can't insert the nova.apk into the AOKP.zip file (in /system/app as i understand it), zip it back up, flash the .zip as per normal AOKP instructions and proceed on my merry way?
Is it that simple? Do I need to mess around with chmodding the apk file or should the fact that it's in /system do that stuff for me?
FWIW I have tried this, but got some problems with having lost root between flashes (stupid ICS root) and that caused me some problems and a lot of high-heartrate moments trying to flash back to a working RocketRom build.
I'd rather do it 'properly' with accurate information about what I'm doing before I try again.
Appreciate the assistance.
I am to faceing the same problem but on other device

I open the ROM zip up and add .apks to the /system/app/ folder all the time..I also delete the ones I know I can and won't use..
There are some apps that won't work like this but its very uncommon..For example I can never include quickpic I always have to manually install it from the market.

Thanks man.
One more question - as far as launcher apps go, is there any way to set the default launcher in the .zip file?
If I delete the pre-existing launcher app from the rom in question and add nova.apk should it set itself as the default launcher app automatically?

How can i make the required script??
plz help
---------- Post added at 09:41 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:37 PM ----------
And ive heard "the TouchWiz launcher included in the rom has hardware acceleration for better graphics performance while the launchers we use like GO LAUNCHER etc depends totally on cpu. They consume cpu power only and no GPU"
IS THAT SO??????????????
that would not mean a good thing
cause GO launcher or n other launcher are way better than Stock TWiz launcher.
I don't want someone to do all the work for me, but if anyone could direct me to some kind of resource with the relevant syntax and such that'd be amazing.

You can delete any launcher in the original zip and replace it with Nova and it will work. You don't need any script to do that, as suggested before.
thanks chasmodo - this worked flawlessly.

CWM program pack

How can we prepare program pack for cwm flash. for example I want to put google maps apk, gps fixapk, android zip apk, chrome apk, opera mini apk, 1mobile apk, google earth apk, firefox apk, etc. in same packet and then when I install new rom I want to flash this pack and alla of the programs will be installed in tehe same time and less time. can I?????
like cwm explorer.zip. it is a file explorer program that you install it after you flash cm9-10 for reaching files simply. View attachment explorer.zip
like http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1667051
I hope I explaned my wishes....
you can use this: Universal flasher tool, if you read the instructions.
Also, Titanium Backup has the option to create a CWM package of your backups (I don't know if it is available in the free version)
thank you forn your help but I couldnt find the program can you give me the link to reach the download directly

Oh my, Guys.. simpliest method is that:
- use your explorer.zip
- open it, its normal zip (you can use winrar or other explorer for compresed archives)
- go to ../system/app folder
- put there apps what you want to instal
- close zip file
- push prepared file to sd card
Thats all
there are other metods to ccwm instalation like install to data partition(it need other zip)
some info : if some apps fc's after such install propably this app's have lib files (it need more knowelage how to find their)
sry for mine weak english
I did it. I opened zip file and put 4 apk and cwm installed. And then again, I put 15 apk to this zip file cwm couldnt install it
Meybe your system partition is full? Did you checked it.
I added zip with posibility to install in both locations (should work I'm using this one to other things)
just paste your app to correck place data or system app folder
Why is this still going on?
