Hi,
I was trying to re-install kernel after rooting/unlocking device and things went a bit wrong.
I used CF-Root-XX_OXA_JVZ-v4.3-CWM3RFS.zip from this thread, and still have root access, but sim card is not seen at all by the device.
Can someone please advise me on something to do
Thank you a lot
Discribe the way you flashed the kernel, please ...
Did you try to flash kernel second time ... sometimes it helps ...

I downloaded the GT-I9000_XWJVZ_insecure from one link in XDA (unfortunately I didn't bookmarked the thread) and then could root and unlock the device. But I read somewhere that after unlocking the device I should re-flash with a secure kernel, so I searched in XDA and found CF-Root-XX_OXA_JVZ-v4.3-CWM3RFS.zip in here.
So, used odin to flash again, after it, it still rooted but the sim card is not recognized at all.
Already tried to flash back, but still not recognized, also reset the device but still

I guess so, as in About phone > Baseband version says "Unknown"
When I go to Settings > Wireless and networks > Mobile networks, it says Insert SIM card, and it is there. Already tried to remove, clean and re-insert

If so try to restore it.
With root explorer you can copy the efs file.

downgrade back to gingerbread use a JVU + root http://filerio.in/813lzbepi1em and than do progressive upgrade (read My Android Solutions) link below
You can always try to reconstruct the efs file. There are tutorials for how to do that.
Installed the CM7 rom as usual but
my imei was changed to 000000000000000 and can not make calls and send sms
(Although not show signal, you can
access the internet). In the system
does not contain the efs folder and
had not backed up. Is there a
solution?
not want to change, I know it's
illegal, I "only" repair the original. Yes,
I googled before posting, but found
nothing satisfactory. thank you and sorry for my bad english.
that was a bug of the rom which was fixed
try flashing the firmware through odin
thanks for the reply. Had already
restored the 2.3.6 rom by odin and
several others with cwm and not
solved.

I guess its a hardware problem.. something wrong with the motherboard.. if flashing stock ROM or custom ROM didn't solve it then i guess you have to take it to the SC..

had tried this method but the efs
folder (And their archives) do not exist
in the system, unfortunately ...
I've been exploring the system files and view the log Custom recovery found the problem. Recovery was an error during the flash unfortunately could not solve the problem (yet) but anyway it was good to know where the error happened. Any help will be important, since that time my phone is just an MP3 player lol
Once again thank you and sorry for my english
Happened with me once and i think a trip to one of the samsung care center won't hurt much
Just be sure not to tell the people there that you flashed the cm7 custom rom on the device.

Oh b******s! Can anybody possibly confirm to me what I suspect? Numbnuts aka me decided that I wanted to go back to genuine firmware (unrooted) I9305. Done the official thing via ODIN and thought wahey back to normal. Um..............well i'm not basically. Not only has the device remained modified..............my sim card is now showing as no service (t-mobile/EE) and to top it all off the *#06* thing to find the IMEI? It's showing as nu//lnull. Not good. I've managed to install the original 4.11 firmware via Odin but that's about it.

I had same problem with imei number. Would say null/null for imei and say device is
unknown. And only state no sim inserted. I havent found a complete fix and my i9305 still does not
work with stock firmware kernel. All i found was a workaround for now.
What I did to get phone working was:
Install stock firmware via odin.
Then flash perseus kernel via odin.
Make sure to clean cache etc if you coming from custom rom.
I do not know why this works. Found by trial and error.
Hope it helps you in some way
Have to say I have no problems with perseus kernel

I think that's a no go. Stuck on the boot logo unfortunately (that's after flashing the thing from there and wiping the cache) I guess it really does need to go to the service centre after all (I will reflash the 4.1.2 stock)
Is it possible you are not using a unlocked baseband. I found using unrooted stock baseband caused bootloop use one from s3 toolkit should fix it for you. I am using bll3. With 4.2.1 . Only thing I can think would cause. sorry couldnt help.

Repairing IMEI
Dear all,
Although I’m quite new in this forum, I’ve some years of experience with my HTC Desire CyanogenMod.
In early feb, I moved to a Galaxy SIII I9503 which was working perfectly until my IMEI gets corrupted.
I try to recover using this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1804117, the process goes… but unfortunately it doesn’t change the IMEI.
Does anyone has experimented it ?
Thanks for replying

I flashed .307 Belgium as it was one I already had. Everything was working well however I had no Baseband and therefore no Signal and the phone wouldn't recognise my SIM card.
I then used SUS to update it and I am back to the same boot-loop as before.
Any ideas? Maybe I need to fix Baseband before updating but have no clue how to do that?

Hey bro I finally figured it out!! So after thinking about and wondering why baseband isn't working I realised it is because of missing IMEI.
Then I thought where would IMEI be stored; IN THE TA PARTITION!!
So what I did was:
1. Flash Belgium .307 with Flashtool.
2. Setup phone normally so that it is usable. Turn on USB Debugging and Unknown Sources.
3. Then get DoomLords Root Toolkit; Plug in phone normally while it is on and run the kit so that it Roots the phone.
4. After that restarts make sure you have Super SU and it is working.
5. Connect to Flashtool while the phone is on and it will automatically run through the phone and tell you all the details of the phone and Busybox and Root Access Allowed and stuff.
6. Once all is well and you know phone is Rooted and stuff; close Flashtool and open Backup TA.
7. Then simply Restore your TA partition.
8. Reboot and check your Baseband Version and IMEI number are present and correct.
9. All should be working now; Really hope it works out for you too!
I will be trying to update and see what that leads to.
If you need links to any of the above stuff let me know. Will be glad to help you out.

I have some old old version I guess but it is the only one that has never given me problems in backing up and restoring so long as my phone is rooted and busybox is installed. It has no version number or anything, its a really simple batch file.
I can pack it in a zip and sent it to you somehow if you need?

Firstly, you must understand ODIN flashing procedures. Search for info in this forum. READ Carefully all the how-to's.. then ReRead the whole thing again. Then go to www.sammobile.com/firmware n download the stock Samsung ROM. Otherwise browse the thread, I saw a new ODIN flashed stock Rom prebloated. Might give it a try. Good luck
