Save Apex Launcher Theme? - HD2 Android Themes and Apps

Hi, is it possible to save a modified apex launcher theme or the positions and the mapping of the icons?

looking for one as well

or can i save it with an app?

Titanium Backup backups the app and it's data. Just make sure you have your modified icons in the same folder when you restore.

I just want to know if there is a way of saving all my work, so i can try to make antother homescreen cuztomization, and whenever i want, switch between my cuztomizations i have made., including widgets, icons... wallpapers

I'd like to think its possible either through TBU or the apex backup that i could save my layout. So far, whenever I change or update my rom, when I restore either the TBU or restore apex from backup, it doesn't place my icons and widgets. It only restores my settings (# of screens, transition effects, etc) but not my icons or widgets. Am I missing something or is that just the way it is?

hmm i should try go launcher a lot people saying its great i havnt tried it yet but tried others like lp adw and zeam and so far ive been stuck in the middle of lp and adw
zeam doesn't let you customize the icons in the dock. For that, you have to use launcherpro, and I think GO launcher could also work (someone mentioned adw could work, but i haven't tried)
BUT if you want to change the icons on your homescreen and don't want to switch to launcherpro, then get Desktop Visualizer. Pretty easy to use, and you can choose the icon you want for any action! You can also try Any Cut, but I highly recommend desktop visualizer
Couldn't you use a program to change an app's icon (like BetterCut or Folder Organizer), then drop the new icon onto the dock bar?
I haven't tried this yet, but I'll give it a go and post the results...of course, is anyone out there has already tried/done this, please feel free to share.

[Q] Launcher Pro dock icons/theme for Go Launcher Ex?

I was using Launcher Pro almost a year and I really like it's dock bar but GO Launcher Ex is a way more powerful than LP.
I'd like to copy LP dock bar into GO Launcher Ex. Yes, I know, you can change dock and icons manually in the settings but it doesn't look the same as original. I even found all necessary images:
http://launcherpro.droidicon.com/sites/default/files/lpicons/froyophone2_1.png
http://launcherpro.droidicon.com/sites/default/files/lpicons/keifficon_app.png
http://launcherpro.droidicon.com/sites/default/files/lpicons/sms.png
http://launcherpro.droidicon.com/sites/default/files/lpicons/camera_0.png
http://launcherpro.droidicon.com/sites/default/files/lpdocks/froyo-bg3_02.png
But as I said, that's not it. :/ Is there any theme or app for GO imitating LP dock bar? Or can you tell me how to extract original dock bar and icons from LauncherPro?
PS: I've noticed that you can assign one app only to one folder in app drawer in GO Launcher Ex, why? I was using FolderOrganizer on LP where you can assign labels (folders) to the app, so one app can be assigned to many folders. Is there any solution for that in GO drawer?

Launcher pro icons app, just download the ones you want, then in adw ex go to set custom dock, select it via gallery, quick pic or whatever, job done, same with icons, works perfect on mine, adw ex rocks

You don't have to quote my message if you're replaying just under my post.
I'm not using ADW Luncher... Well, I think you didn't read my post at all? By the way I already said in previous post that I downloaded all icons and set them manually in dock but I'm not happy with results.
Thanks, but you didn't help me.
I was just suggesting adw as it is more powerful than lp, and I always quote as someone may reply while I am writing! My apologies for trying to help name noted, I won't try in future due to your terse answer, all the best

Oh, don't be angry on me! I prefer GO Launcher Ex, I used to have ADW for some time but I went back to LP. Now is time for GO. The GO team makes pretty good apps and have great support.
Hymm, I think that I just must get used to new dock design.
Ok ok, peace dude

Retaining desktop layout across new themes.

One of the biggest drawbacks to installing new themes is that my preferred desktop has to be rebuilt each time. It feels like I'm starting at square one.
Is there some easy way to retain the icon & widget layout I'm happy with when applying a new theme?

I am not sure if you are talking about the Homescreen... But regardless of your issue, it may be of some help to the community if you tell us what device you own, what rom you are using, and any other mods/tricks you've used. That would help us help you in the best manner possible. Anyways, are you using a custom launcher? I personally use Apex Launcher PRO, and when I apply themes, nothing happens to the desktop; everything remains in their location.
Does your issue occur with all theme's or just a certain theme? Have you tried applying a different rom? Restarting?
You're right, I should have included that information. I'm using an MZ604, Team EOS Stable Release 2 ROM.
The problem I have is with the home screen layout. I have my icons set up just the way I want them but if I use any other launcher app I have to redo my whole layout. I was wondering if there's a way to keep my custom homescreen icon setup when I change launchers. It would be a real time saver for evaluation purposes, but I suppose the launcher dev wants you to see a specific home screen layout to highlight their design at startup.

I am not sure if you can retain the locations of icons between launchers, only because all of them are different in many ways. However, you can try another launcher and make it the default launcher. Since you are evaluating, only keep a couple icons in custom locations. Then you can try applying different themes and seeing if that resets your homescreens. If it doesn't reset, it should be safe to replicate your original homescreens in the new launcher. For Apex Launcher (and I believe Nova Launcher), there is also an option to back up the layout of your homescreens to the xoom's internal storage.
Hope that helps...
Thanks, yosterwp. Yes, that's very helpful.

To use icon packs which are in apk format, you have install them like any other app and then use any custom launcher like Go/Apex/Nova to apply them via their theme chooser.
To apply icons which you get in a zip, you'll have to use desktop visualizer.
I made a video on how to apply icon packs.
I have a few icon themes of my own. Check play store link and the last line in my signature.
Well, you can use Go Launcher to change app icons, it also supports icons which is included in themes you use. you can have multiple themes installed in your phone and use those themed icons simultaneously, just not in the app drawer since app drawer only allows 1 theme at a time, homescreen does not have this limitation though.
You can also use Custom Icons which you can customize depending on what kind of style you have in mind. You can use these icons to change your homescreen and dock icons. Do not fear, none of these requires anything like rooting(Though in time you will find yourself being curious about it and eventually rooting your phone, take note, it's not a bad thing! It actually is the best thing to do if want to unleash the inner Android of you device! :good.
You can PM me if you have further questions, I also use Go Launcher btw.

[Q] Stock launcher bug?

It doesn't look like anyone else has mentioned this, so maybe it's just my OCD
Whenever I'm on the homescreen and I go into the app drawer, my wallpaper turns black as the app drawer opens. Has anyone else noticed this? Thanks!
I believe stock launcher functions this way. Black background on app drawer.

I was talking about the homescreen wallpaper. It turns black just before the drawer finishes opening (with both still and live wallpapers). I'll look through the build.prop for anything interesting, but I am doubtful
Aaaaand It looks like I've found a solution.
1) Install Nova launcher, set as default
2) Clear stock launcher's data
3) Uninstall stock launcher with TiBu
4) Okay, here goes I copied Launcher2.apk from my Gnex (running Shiny 4.2.2 ROM) to /system/app, set permissions, and then installed it. Shocking, I know.
5) Uninstall Nova if you want.
5) Enjoy a slightly faster, bug-free launcher with all of the stock JB wallpapers!
Unfortunately, I'm too new to post files, links, etc.
