Someone has asked this question before but it seems there was no reply to his thread. I have checked the other threads but there is no solid information confirming the USB Host is indeed working in CM9 Nightly.
So I made a Y cable with external power supply and downloaded the app USB Host Controller by SztupY. But when I run the app with either a jumpstick, an USB keyboard, or an USB mouse, the app couldn't recognize any of these devices was connected.
Could any one confirm whether the USB Host is actually working in CM9 Nightly, or I have missed something so I couldn't get it working?
The dev team has done a marvelous job to give new life to the Tab. My big thanks to all of you.

I downloaded Nook Tweeks, enabled USB host mode and External vBus, but nothing happens when I connect a USB-stick via a micro ubs to usb converter.
Am I supposed to do something else? Or does the USB-stick have to be in some special format?

I got the same exact problem. It didn't seem to work at all.I think I'll have to order the adapter to see if the problem is the OTG cable or not

I ordered some cheap ones from DX, but since there are two of them and none of them works I'm assuming it's the Nook the problem is with.

It could be the USB-sticks are trying to draw too much power. The Nook host port will only supply low power USB devices (<100mA) and it is also best to have a fairly well charged battery. Some sticks work and others don't.
If you have a powered USB hub then this supplies the power so there is no problem. So try with a powered hub to at least see if that is the issue.

I used the same USB in this chart Nook Color USB HOST Device Compatibility List Sandisk Cruzer 8GB on CM7
I bought the Nook Color is to connect it to my camera via DSLRcontroller but so far still not successfully with USB stick.
Read my thread , it should answer most if not all your questions
[23 Jan 2012][USER/DEV] USB Host Support & Development [CM7/CM9]
I'm hoping to get some free time and update it this weekend with more info and probably a widget
I could never get usb host working on cm7. I have been trying to use RYC usb to control my Nikon Dslr . Once i switch over to CM9 beta it worked first time.

I have read this thread over and over again. Ill try to run CM9 soon to see if it works

CM7 also shouldn't give you any trouble , as long as its FAT32 and you are using a hub
can you explain what exactly have you tried and provide logs?
I didnt use usb hub, just enable the usb host mode in Nook Tweak app and plug my usb via otg cable.

Then you didn't read good enough the thread or the chart..
You need an external hub ( powered or non-powered ) to work with the sandisk cruzer.
Thanks a lot, i ll order one and try it out.
I tried to connect with my camera but nothing happened,I guess I have to try with usb hub as well

Hello .
I have problem with my Galaxy Tab P1000.
I cant connect anything to my tablet, i have OTG cable from 10.1 and nothing.
i use standard cable and still nothing.
I have kernel P1000-CM9-HumberOS-Kernel-20120307 , system and use apps USB HOST CONTROLLER.
I can upload log files.
I search on forum and i cant find answer.
sorry for my bad english ...
read around here to get some setup to work
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=23060925
I think you can forget about your cable.
P1000 doesn't supply power to the port, so it will not work.
I connect hub in way in your post but apps stopped on ``invalid USBhost data``.
I connect tablet to hub with external charager, when i connecting cable tablet starts charaging and usb host controller start working, but like i said it stop
actually I have no experience at that.
I was just helping out in pointing to the relevant posts.
Sorry I can't help there.
Maybe you can PM one of the guy with success there?
So someone has connected something to p1000 via usb host with succes ?
Plz tell me: No. Thats have support of otg fabric.
I have no idea what it is you're asking, but if you're asking if the Xperia T has support for USB-on-the-go the answer is YES. Xperia T supports USB OTG by default. I used it on mine today to restore a backup from a stick.
i can confirm too... otg works..

So then it is weird that usb host diagnostics says it does not work on the LT30p?
Or maybe there is a problem with the test procedure for the diagnostic app?
I am looking for a phone with OTG (maybe cheaper than the T), and my two sources are XDA-dev and http://usbhost.chainfire.eu/, and sometimes they do not agree...
Maybe someone with a T should try a test with the app and report it to the host diagnostics dev, as I thought chainfire's site was a great source for info.
I also have the same problem as OP, i made my OTG lead by cutting a usb extention and splicing into another usb extention in effect creating a Y usb with females on both ends, the reason its a Y is so i can add power to the cable from the male end and not have to chop up my usb micro-b cable, this worked perfectly on my htc hd2 with usb host mode files enabled but doesn't seem to function on the Xperia T, i'm running the NXT r2 rom which is based on stock so usb otg should work right?
Hi for some reason i cant get usb host to work,
But the thing is that my devices are being powered but not detected on Android.
Also i have a "7 Nook HD with Cyanogen Mod 11 so it should work right?.
Did you enable USBHost (using Verygreen's USB Host Switcher app linked at his CM10.1 thread's OP http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=41024398&postcount=1)?
Yes i used that and a whole bunch of different apps and roms but they wont work.
Also the app on the screen is the USBHost Switcher App.
Edit:
i also used the nook color with cm7 and usb host worked.
Ok this morning i tried connecting my usb device again and when i pressed the button to enable usb host it worked and
i was able to use my usb device then it said it disconnected because i had another app for usb host that does that.
also could it be my cord?.
I never could get my nookhd to recognize usb either.
I am running verygreen's kernel 3.0.31 -hummingbird-green+ jun 13 2013
cyanogen 10.1
i have usb storage in storage menu as well as apps that can mount devices and storage. I also have the usbhostswitcher app as well as another one I found on here that helps for this.
I have the female to female adapter...yet no signs of it working whether I connect a mouse, usb flash drive, etc. I bought the adapter from the ebay link from verygreen post and ordered another one from diff seller today just in case...
Any thing I need besides the apps? Also anyone get a usb - to - ethernet adapter to work for this nook?
thank you all for any input
I've bought an usb endoscope type of camera that I connect to both my laptop and to my samsung galaxy s5 via a usb otg cable. The app I use for the camera is the camerfi from google play and it works great. I tried to connect it to the nook hd+ via a female usb coupler but it won't work. Any ideas how to get this working?
I believe the USB Host feature is available only on CM10 and CM11 ROMs (and only for certain USB device types).
What ROM are you using?
I got 2 nooks, one on the latest lollipop cm12.1 and the other on cm11 M12.
CM12.1 current builds do not support USB Host.
On CM11 you need to use verygreen's UsbHostSwitcher app to enable it, although it does not look like USB camera is supported -- see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=43053751&postcount=29.
Thanks for the info digimax. The usbhostswitcher app doesn't install on the cm12.1 but does on cm11. When I switched it on, while the camera wasn't working as you've predicted, the led light of the endoscope camera did turn on. Maybe someday there will be a fix to this, one can only hope.
